We didn't realize we'd eaten here before until we arrived, but we were just as impressed this time around. The food and service were both excellent. It's a small café, but the wait goes by quickly because the atmosphere is welcoming and people are enjoying good conversation while they dine. This visit, I tried the sweet potato waffle with greens and catfish--delicious! My husband ordered the grits and pork chops, and they were absolutely banging. My sisters had the chicken wings with shrimp and grits, and they loved their meals too. The pecan waffle was an added bonus and definitely worth trying. This is a must-visit spot if you're looking for great food and friendly service!
Gritz Café Review "The Day Vegas Introduced Us to Catfish, Sweet Potato Waffles... and a Missing Collard Green Mystery." June 17, 2026 -- the day Tiffany got insider intel from a Vegas local who told her, "You HAVE to try Gritz Café."That was all she needed to hear. She told me, I checked my Las Vegas Yelp food list, and sure enough -- Gritz Café was already saved. Destiny. Since Tiffany was already near the restaurant and I was still at the hotel, I ordered online. We couldn't enjoy the dine‑in experience this time, but we're saving that for the sequel. The Orders Tiffany went with one of her go‑to comfort dishes: Biscuit & Gravy Scrambled egg hard Potatoes with fried onions I saw Catfish on the menu and immediately felt spiritually connected. I ordered The Mississippi: 3 fried catfish pieces (grilled next time) Collard greens Steamed mixed vegetables Sweet Potato Waffle Extra tartar sauce Extra syrup Then came the hardest part: waiting for Tiffany and the food.I'm a smart husband, so I won't say which one I was more excited for. The Arrival... and the Plot Twist Tiffany arrived with the food, we unpacked everything, and immediately noticed two things missing: My collard greens Her scrambled egg Vegas giveth, Vegas taketh away. Tiffany's Biscuit & Gravy She said it was outstanding, even with the twist:The sausage was cut into pieces and placed on top instead of mixed in.Different, but delicious.Only the missing egg kept it from perfection. My Catfish & Waffle Combo The catfish wasn't as big or thick as the ones I get back home, but the flavor was outstanding -- seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Sweet Potato Waffle?A revelation.Perfect size, perfect thickness, perfect flavor.I'm now a believer. The steamed vegetables were... vegetables.They served their purpose and made me feel like I made at least one healthy decision. But I was really looking forward to those collard greens. Customer Service Redemption Tiffany called the restaurant and was transferred to the manager, Olivia.She was extremely apologetic and assured us the refund would hit my card by the end of the day.(At the time of this writing, it hasn't shown up yet -- but we're giving Vegas grace.) Final Verdict Even with the missing items, the food was delicious, the flavors were on point, and the service recovery was handled well. We're excited to return -- in person -- on our next Vegas trip.Because Gritz Café deserves a proper dine‑in moment.
I cant recommend this place enough. Well worth the wait. The costs are a bit high, but it's not obscene for the quality of the food. Our server was kind, helpful, attentive, and just everything you look for in a server. We waited about 20 minutes to be sat, but you'd expect that at a breakfast place at breakfast time. No concern there. I ordere chicken fried steak- amazing, gritz bites - double amazing, tried my husbands sweet potato waffle - triple amazing! The mac and cheese was just fine. I would easily go back again just got the chicken fried steak, sweet potato waffle, or gritz bites. The ambiance is quite nice. Theres a table dedicated to the matriarch of the establishment, which really adds to the southern, home cooked vibes. The to go counter was busy the whole time we sat, but they seemed to move quickly. We were close enough to the door to hear the hostess telling people they were running out of certain items and that the would had increased to 30 or 40 minutes. Be sure to get there early to not miss out. Everyone was friendly, and the food was phenomenal. Can't ask for anything else.
This place is definitely cute, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly. We decided to check it out after seeing it featured on Somebody Feed Phil. The food was good, but it just didn't have that "wow" factor I was hoping for. It was a fun experience, but the wait was extremely long, and the location was a bit out of the way for us. Was it worth trying? Absolutely, especially if you're curious after watching the show. Would I come back? Probably not--but I'm still glad we gave it a try.
Now i hardly, if ever, give 5 stars. But man! The hype around this spot was real, and i see why!!! If you are looking for good breakfast in Vegas, that's black owned, you have to hit this spot while you're out there. The service was impeccable!! We came around 1030am, and it wasn't busy, but it was full. We waited a couple mins for a table for 4, which maybe took 10 mins max. We were offered bottled water while we waited, (Vegas was 108 degrees). The waitresses were very sweet. Very knowledgeable as well. Their recommendations were on point cus the food was truly amazing! If you go, it's not called gritz cafe for no reason! Get the grits! I added crushed sausage and cheese to mine and man oh man!! That took it from a 10 to a 20! So good! I ordered the chicken and waffles and it came with a side of gritz. The chicken was perfectly fried. Crispy on the outside. Juicy and flavorful on the inside. Once the hot sauce was added it was even better! The waffle itself was also amazing. Now i love me a Waffle House and i swear by their waffles, but these got them beat by 100000! I ordered a plain waffle, my brother got the yams waffle. (Yams in the batter.) OMG!! That was beyond delicious! My sister got the peach cobbler waffle which might've slightly been a bit better than the sweet potato, and i got the regular waffle which was still a good 10/10! They serve it with hot syrup. (Careful cuz it comes in a metal container that's also hot). They melted butter into the waffle before it comes to your table. It was everything!! I definitely would've came back if i didn't have other reservations. The ambiance was super cute. They don't sell alcohol, so we ordered lemonades and sweet teas. They had a nice pandora playlist playing in the background and by the time we left, there was a line out the door. They close at 2pm so get there early if you can to beat the rush, but this is a highly recommended 10/10!! If and when i come back to Vegas I'm coming back. Maybe 2x lol. See pics below
This is my second review. I left out some things. The atmosphere was good, no ambience music. Really busy and crowded. I didn't know where to go to get a table, so I waited at the order take out for about ten minutes because the person was on the phone. I noticed another entry door and welcome booth. So, I went there and asked and luckily there was one table available for two, so I was seated right away. It took about seven minutes for my waitress to come to the table. I was asked if there were anything I would like to drink, I said just water. It took her another five minutes to bring me water. She dropped off the water and left for another five minutes. Then asked me for my order. The service not good. No smiles. But all the staff(women and men) was no smiles, not very friendly. Seemed mad the whole time. I ordered the Mississippi and Kentucky meal, with sides of collard greens, yams, macncheese, cornbread and biscuit. Everything was five star except the fried fish, it was extremely salty, I couldn't eat it. The wings was were good but small, had bigger at other places, so I was surprised they were small not tiny. The side's could have been slightly bigger portion as well but okay. I waited ten minutes for my waitress to come back after motioning to her I was ready. Never checked on to see if I needed anything. Asked for to go boxes and cups for sides, gave me two with one lid, waited another the minutes for her to come back for the check, asked for another cup and two lids. Paid once she came back and left. This was my second time visiting. The first time, I ordered two peached cobbler's to go. You can read my first visit from my review. Hope this helps.
This place is a 10/10, if you get there at the right time. The food is Amazing! The best catfish I ever had. I strongly suggest getting there super early or after 12. The staff is nice, but eating are inside is small, but that's not problem. The one thing I did not like was the Flop. Minor issue, next time I am in LV is pulling up.
What can I say, the food here is nothing short of amazing. Had the wings, fish, waffles, grits, greens and candied yams. They flavors were flavorful the service was quick and very attentive. Gritz def needs a bigger location. You will wait at least 30 min but well worth it. The ambiance makes you feel like you are dining with extended family and the music selection is great. Our waitress schanel was Amazing at what she does. We will definitely be back.

Yum, yum, and yummier! I've been dying to try this spot after hearing about the legendary wait times, so my colleague and I stopped by for lunch. We were seated in about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad at all! Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. We both ordered the catfish, grits, and waffles (I added eggs with cheese to mine). The waffle was hands-down the best we've ever had, and the catfish was so flavorful. I leveled up my grits with cheese, bacon, and spinach--chef's kiss! It was my colleague's first real soul food experience, and watching him "tear it up" was the highlight of the meal. I'll definitely be back!
After hearing so much we finally made it out. I called on a weekend to hear that you gotta wait and they cut the line an hour before closing, so we took our chances with a Monday. Paid off. It was literally 8 mins between getting on the list and getting a table for two. There was a party of over 10 waiting. I felt for them, I think they ended up splitting into smaller groups bc otherwise it would've been some time. Even coming on a late Monday morning, it was packed! I love to see it! Ronnie helped check us in and later helped our server Princess, as she seemed swamped towards the end of our meal. Service was great though. We did the Kentucky and Mississippi plates. Sides were grits, greens, Mac and the butter pecan waffle (WORTH the up charge!) music was a bop. Stuff my mom played in the house. They even sang Stevie's version of hbd to a patron. Food. Mom's been looking for a wing that reminded her of my grandma and great grandmas. She said this was it. It was the perfect crisp, cook and flavor. The fish was also tasty. The butter pecan waffle was my favorite side. I've never had pecans in a waffle. It was truly everything. I'm craving one right now! The other sides were just ok. I'd be happy w some catfish and a butter pecan waffle! I guess I'm becoming a water snob. I drink a lot and didn't like theirs. Thankfully they had sparkling. Getting and paying the check took the longest. But I was jamming to the tunes. Princess and Ronnie were fabulous so I told the manager, Olivia. She shared that it was Princess' first day!!! Never would've guessed. It's far but I love supporting minorities in business. I'll definitely go back. I can't get that waffle outta my head.
10/10 anytime I mention this place. The sweet potato waffle 100/10 omg! I'd come back just for that! The vibe is family friendly and family gathering. Service is 10/10 very friendly and patient. Highly recommended and when you try it get the sweet potato waffle you'll thank me later!!!
The food here was DELICIOUS!!! I've been trying to find good fried fish spot in Los Angeles to no avail, I had to go all the way to Vegas to find it...lol Anyhoo we tried to go on a Monday and the wait was too long came back the next day and was able to get in within 30 mins. Small restaurant reminds me of back home. Service was great and the food was bomb.com. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Vegas.

This was our first time and oh what a treat. To spite the 50 minute wait it was well worth it. The staff were friendly and professional. To actually see the owner Ms Trina Giles pitch in and assist her staff even as much to wiped down tables to help customers get seated promptly. Now we decided we would order waffles catfish and gritzs loaded with butter, bacon and cheese; also chicken wings. Wow words can't express the quality and quantity of these delicious dishes. I visited Gritz Cafe on Monday, 10/16/23, during lunchtime. I decided to order the Chicken Fried Steak with Eggs, Toast, Mac & Cheese, and Collard Greens. The entire plate of food was super amazing. The flavor was truly on point, especially the gravy on the Chicken Fried Steak, the Collard Greens, and the Mac & Cheese. All of the staff members were extremely nice and hospitable. First of all. Wow. We found the Gritz cafe from Eater Las Vegas. It was on top of the list and it did not disappoint. We came in at around 12:20pm. The lovely Erin warmly greeted us, took our names and asked us to just wait until our table was ready. Waited around 15mins for our table. Not too bad considering the place closes at around 3pm and there were a lot of people waiting outside. Definitely helped that we were a small group of 3. David politely gave us our utensils and made sure we had everything we needed before our food came. From the recommendations of food, we decided to go with the fried chicken with eggs and waffles, and crispy fish with sweet potato waffles. The SEASONINGGG. My goodness, the crispy fish was most definitely CRISPY. Well seasoned and so so delicious. The sweet potato waffle also surpassed my expectations. Hands down the best one I've yet tasted. It is also the first time I've seen a sweet potato waffle like this. Good balance of flavour. Not too sweet. The restaurant itself makes you feel like you just stopped by your friend's house for lunch. Both Erica and David made us feel so welcomed, their service complimented the food even further. The fact that i didn't have pictures of the fried chicken, pancakes and Gritz is because when the food came we dug in. Guuurrrlll the food was off the chain. Fried chicken was da bomb. Gritz were cooked to perfection and mac and cheese was great, collards were good and yams. This will be our Sunday go to place after church. 1st time here and I'll definitely be back and try their grits. I got the Kentucky comes with 2 sides and your choice of 2 or 4 whole chicken wings. I opted to get greens & eggs as a side. Greens were delicious. They were flavorful & well seasoned...I'll order that again as a side. Eggs were egging but the star of the dish were the perfectly, fresh cooked, crispy wings. I saw plenty of people ordering them and I can see why. The food is freshly prepared so be ready to wait a while. There was an hr. Wait time when I walked in + add'l wait after you order your food but it definitely payed off at the end. I'll come back here again. My go to spot for soul food and breakfast. Love everything on the menu. But my favorite has to be the fried catfish and fried chicken, sides you have to go with greens, rice and gravy, Mac and cheese and a waffle. The service is good they are very homey. The ambiance is chill. It's a nice mom and pop layout but it's very family based. Overall if you're in the mood for some real soul food. This is the place to be. read more

However I would rate the food 10 out of 10 it was fresh and I would definitely visit again. I ordered chicken and the catfish with the holy Trinity. The service was good. I was in the mood for a good old country style breakfast, so I decided to stop in at Gritz Café. I had heard about how wonderful service was and the food was supposed to be top-tier. As far as ambience goes, it's very small with very small tables. If you're lucky to sit against the wall, there is a bench that goes the length of the wall and that seems to be more comfortable. Now, I'm gonna be completely honest... maybe some of these influencers get different treatment than us regular folks, but I went in by myself and waited. 45 minutes for a table which is fine on a Saturday morning at around 10 o'clock. ( I think it's a little too long) My initially wanted to order the Arkansas breakfast, I believe that is the pork chop, they were all out, so I got a bowl w/hot link. So overall, I was a bit disappointed in the experience. I may try it again to see how it goes but right now I'll look for other places. It definitely was overhyped!! read more

Absolutely safe, it's kind of a private location on a small street. I've been there multiple times and it's nice with delicious food and attentive waitresses.

Maybe 10 minutes north of the strip. Definitely worth the trip. 👍🏾👍🏾
