Amazing food and friendly and attentive service. We went to try their breakfast menu and it was better than what we anticipated. The presentation, portion size and flavor were top notch. We will definitely be back again.

A nice little restaurant in a small little town. It has a very mountainous vibe to it. Exposed wood interior, dark wood exterior. The menu has plenty to choose from. You can go in here for a quick bite or have a really nice date night. They were quick to greet you at the door and they could accommodate a group of eight no problem with not that much notice.

Absolutely ridiculous policy and some of the rudest staff I've ever encountered. I want to start off by saying Jodie, please pick another profession because apparently serving people bothers you THAT badly. Went to the bar hoping for a quick drink, something I've done at countless restaurants without an issue. But apparently, at this place, you're not allowed to order drinks at the bar. That's right. A fully stocked bar, seats open, bartender standing there... and you're told you can't order a drink unless you're seated at a table. What kind of logic is that? Bartender was horrible, nothing but outright rude. Server Jodie made our meal so uncomfortable given the circumstances. Rushed us out of there yet our party was spending a grand at their business. Extremely rude/combative/non-welcoming employees, and the information on the door is untrue. Seating is NOT available at 7:30 as stated. We came in with a 10 person party and it was nothing but a mess. Hire a more respectable staff. There are too many great restaurants in this city to waste time at one that treats customers like an inconvenience. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being talked down to and told you can't have a drink at a bar... in a restaurant with a bar. Makes no sense. ***You should teach your catch phrase to your own employees: "It is nice to be important, but it is important to be nice"***

We loved the vibe and environment of the grill!! We called to make a reservation and were quickly seated. The service was good on a busy Thursday evening. We loved our dinners which were filling and flavorful.

    Oven Roasted Salmon. SO GOOD!!

A beautiful historic building from 1876 with all the rustic charm you'd expect , original hardwood floors , beautiful wood beams and a cozy little bar right when you walk in . My wife and I enjoyed the Chicken Marsala and Beef Stroganoff each served with mashed potatoes and mixed veg. Both meals were cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce that should accompany each dish . 10/10 for me on both dishes, it would be hard to pick a favorite but I'd have to order the stroganoff again on my next visit ..... too good!! Both meals came with a delicious side salad - blue cheese dressing was house made and yummy! Fresh bread, two different kinds , both were spot on . Iron Door hit a home run with every single portion of our meal and the rustic country charm of this hidden gem was the icing on the cake!!! I almost don't want to share my secret........ but if you are visiting Graeagle, pass on all the dining options in Blairsden and Graeagle and head up the mountain to little ol Johnsville for a meal that is sure to satisfy! If you want to impress your friends the super cool hidden gem that only the locals know about, The Iron Door is THE place to go. Cheers!!

I didn't even know this place existed since I had last been back to town. It was an accident to find it, we were going for a trusted and loved sandwich at Full Belly Deli next door and were happy to see it there. We came in during the week for trappy hour, where we had the most delicious oysters, shrimp, and chowder. Plus some really great beer and wine. We liked it so much, and wanted to try more of the oyster types they had so we went back on Friday afternoon to learn they don't have the oyster deal on busy days. Which totally makes sense, it's an awesome deal-- half a dozen for $15. So on our second trip we tried the ceviche, crab cake slider, and hot butter lobster roll. All delicious and fresh as well. I have nothing but good things to say about the food and staff. The only thing to be aware of is the dining area in the shop is pretty small, but if too full the tables outside of FBD could be used. Next time I'm in town I'll be back.

It tasted like it just white wine drizzled over it, not garlic or lemon noted. Very bland. Prawns were meh. We were charged 27 dollars then 9 to split with over 3/4 untouched. The Alfredo was very runny, we ordered it for kiddos and they wouldn't touch it. The entire dish was left minus two bites. We shared this with our server, again charged full price and 9 dollars to split the dish, That was untouched. Paying 125 dollars for that food and no alcohol seems a bit insane. I ordered the 1 dozen oysters, clam linguine, and house salad. Oysters -- 7/10 The oysters were really fresh and shucked right in front of you, which was definitely a plus. They were a little too big for my liking and had a creamier texture than I prefer, but overall they were good. Clam Linguine -- 7/10 The linguine was solid. The portion was decent, and I liked the combination of clams, lemon, garlic, and Parmesan. Nothing that completely blew me away, but still a good dish. Might pass on the parmesan next time because it clunked up as it melted in the dish. House Salad The salad was actually pretty good and surprisingly large for a house salad. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, and plenty of croutons. Overall, everything is prepared fresh right in front of you, which I really enjoyed. The oysters being freshly shucked definitely added to the experience. The wait wasn't terrible, and if you're an oyster or seafood fan, it's worth stopping by while you're in Tahoe. Overall: 7/10 thank youuuu

If you're anywhere near Clio or Portola, go. Both of our entrees were only $24, and the quality and portions were honestly ridiculous for the price. The wifey got the 10 oz NY strip and eggs. Not a pedestrian thin cut, this was a thic boi, dinner-service steak with a genuinely beefy flavor and a great cook on it. It came with eggs over herbed cream cheese and avocado toast, with arugula, pickled onions, and scorched cherry tomatoes. Easily one of the best steak and egg brunch plates we've had. I got the lobster Benedict, and it may be the most generously packed seafood Benedict I've ever been served. Legit chunks of lobster claw and meat throughout, not just a few little pieces buried under hollandaise. Back home in the Bay Area, both would easily be a $40+ plate, and I wouldn't even question it. The setting makes it even better. Fifty44 has this gorgeous lodge atmosphere with the huge central stone fireplace, exposed timber ceiling, and views looking out across the valley. Beautifully designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Cozy and upscale, this is an awesome place to settle in for brunch. Lastly, the service matched the food: 10/10. Everyone was incredibly nice, attentive, and welcoming.

A Perfect 25th Anniversary Celebration!…read more My husband and I recently visited Fifty 44 with some friends to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and we were absolutely blown away! Whatever the new chef is doing in the kitchen, it is AMAZING. For our appetizers, we started with the Ahi Tacos and the Sweet Chili Wings. Both were outstanding. The tuna in the tacos was incredibly fresh and silky. The wings were perfectly crispy and had just the right amount of flavor without drowning in sauce--exactly how they should be! For our main courses, we ordered the Halibut and the Roasted Chicken. I can honestly say that the roasted chicken was the best I have ever had. My husband was equally thrilled with his halibut; he said it was cooked to absolute perfection, and the accompanying corn chowder was absolutely delicious. If you haven't been to Fifty 44 lately, you need to go check out the new chef's menu. A huge thank you to the team for making our anniversary dinner so special. We will definitely be back!
