This is a sad day for me, i love grocery outlet, i went to vacation to 4 different states, and i went to a grocery outlet in every state just because i love shopping here, that being said, i experienced a not so pleasant experience this last time i went to my local Duarte, CA grocery outlet (i have a grocery outlet in my city(BaldwinPark) but i would go to duarte instead because i love the products and the employees. until today... i went in to do my normal shopping and i had been there to shop last week and i purchased some pork rinds, so i went down the aisle to pick up some more and i saw that the pork rinds were $3.99 for a 4 ct, i thought to myself hey thats a great deal so i went up to the front with all my purchases and when the cashier started ringing me up, i noticed that each bag was $3.99, so when i asked him, he told me yes they are ringing up as $3.99, so i went back to the aisle to make sure i wasnt crazy and sure enough i wasn't. so i snapped a picture of it and brought it to him, he was kinda new so i understand why he had to call someone else. so he calls another cashier who i am familiar with because i see him working all the time and he normally helps me, so he explains the situation to the other cashier, proceeds to check the aisle and sure enough he comes back and says "huh... thats strange i wonder why its ringing up as $3.99 for just one. so he brings in the "manager" Emy, so the senior cashier begins to explain this to the so called "manager" and she does not understand, so he begins to repeat himself over and over until she understood what we were talking about. she went back to the aisle and got the price tag and starred at it, after she says "oh well it means $3.99 each bag. (side note, there was another bag of pork rinds, exact brand just didnt flavor, so the cashier began to ask her, is there any reason why the price would differ from flavor to flavor, its the same size, same brand. the "manager emy" dumbfounded, says well this one is $3.99 and the other is $1.99, again missing the point" so she looks at me and says "yeah so its $3.99 each. so i respond but the sign clearly says 4ct for $3.99" she says oh it must have been a mistake because we wouldn't sell this in a 4 pack" so i give her this confused look. (before i tell you how this ends, i would like to add, i have 13 years of customer service experience, i have been a manager at a large retail store, and currently at a bank, so i know exactly what to do when one of my employees makes an error like this, we make it right. so this sad story ends like this, so i ask her one final time" so are you refusing to honor this price?" she said yes i will not do it. so i ask her for her name, and asked her for the store managers name, she said "i am the manager" with attitude, i thought nothing of it. i returned the items back and purchased my other things. i will continue to shop at grocery outlet but i know emy does not represent the company. but i just wanted to share this because i feel saddened by it. i will be reaching out to the Store manager Claudia. to hear her thoughts on the matter. read more

I have never been inside a Grocery Outlet store so I have nothing to compare it to. With that said, the prices are really good and the cashier was polite and helpful. But, there is a stench in the store that literally makes you want to shop fast and get out. Hard to tell exactly what caused the stench but it was closest to the fruit and meat section at the back of the store. Could use some cleaning out I think. - Not a fan of the location. That entire strip mall needs an overhaul. It's nice that they remodeled 1/4th of it, but they really need to get better shops in there, the landlord needs to keep it clean. The burned out restaurants needs to be fixed. Lots of undesirables still strolling around. Now that drive through Starbucks is in, a lot of the riff raff from there has been pushed over. - The fanfare is nice. The balloons, the life sized muppet is fun. - Walking in, it had that 99 cent store/Ranch Market smell of old school disinfectant and meat. - The stock reminded me of 99 cent store or Aldi. The prices were nothing to write home about, the brands were unheard of. I am a fan of generic/private label stuff, but this wasn't the case. Random brand after random brand, and if I understand correctly, even if you get used to these products, they might not be there next week, in the same way 99 and Big Lots works. - Compared to Smart and Final Xtra, the produce section sucked. It looked worse than Trader Joes produce, meaning they get it cheaper because it's about to be out of code. - I am a beer fanatic, I'm a professional beer expert some would say. They have a small cold case labeled CRAFT BEER. By definition, out of the 12-14 different beers in that case, only two of the offerings are actually craft beer by definition, the rest are owned by mega beverage corporations. - Unless I overlooked it, there was no deli (same gripe with Smart and Final Xtra) and other similar service counters. The meat section was sad. We now have two grocery stores that aren't "full service" and I think we deserve it. - The staff trended on the young side, they were very nice and chipper. - I won't be back. Bonus content: Duarte deserves better than a block of EBT tier stores. We are hard working people who deserve more valuable consumer goods than this. I hope the landlord of that slum strip mall is reading this and either gets their act together or sells it. read more

The store uses misleading advertisement. I went there yesterday and saw a sign at the register saying that if one makes purchase over $20 on a Sat or Sunday, one can get a $5 coupon to be used on Mon - Friday. I thought it was a good deal and went back to grap some paper towels so that my purchases would be over $20. They did give me a $5 coupon, printed on the receipt. When I went home and looked at it carefully, I found out that you can get $5 off ONLY when you make purchase over $30 (plus valid only on the Duarte store and from 4/8 - 4/12). I am not going to make a $30+ purchase next time. That necessitates me to take another trip back to return the paper towels. They should know that there is a difference between a "$5 coupon" and a "$5 coupon for $30+ purchase", or for that mater, a "$5 coupon for $300+ purchase." read more

I've been shopping here about twice a week since it opened. Yes, it's in a rather junky strip mall but this store is just the beginning of the improvement(s) to this sad little corner of Duarte and I'm all for that. Keep it up! I am totally impressed with the prices of things I typically buy and I have found many items I was not expecting at such a discount. They aren't miracle workers because that would be weird and dumb for anyone to expect but they do manage to get a surprising variety of goods and I have left happy every time I've shopped there. Their stock is always changing and you won't always find the exact item you want but you can get lucky. If you're like me and meals depend on what's on sale, you'll always get what you need. Examples of lucky finds: Pasteur-raised chicken eggs, one dozen: $2.99 Pacific Organic creamy tomato soup 32 oz: $1.49 Pillsbury Gluten Free Choc Chip Cookie Dough 14.3 oz: .49 (cents!) They do not take any coupons except for their own. They provide plastic bags for free (if you're still not bringing your own). They sell beer and wine but not hard liquor. They have cool snack foods I've never seen anywhere else. The crew is helpful, humble, and mostly young people trying to do their best. The store is always super CLEAN. Their POS can be a bit complicated at times with coupons and accurate pricing but it's nothing I can't deal with. This is a great addition to my community. read more

Idk what to say about this store. It's clean and spacious. If you have time to browse you can score many a deal in here. I don't shop it regularly but the times I have hit it up i found the true diamonds in the ruff tend to be the non food items . Example there are many name brand household cleaning,laundry,kitchen,health and beauty ect deals to be had. My favorites are the Burt bees body washes,aveeno body wash and the febreeze fabric spray . They have good deals on junk food and the occasional steal on healthy things such as zing/stevia sweetener packets 1.49 versus $2.99 and up other places . Giant Costco size spices are a steal here. And everyone's fave juanitas tortilla chips ole yay!!! The thorn in my side about this place tho is sometimes they sell things you want but don't need necessarily but at crazy high prices considering the general low prices of most the merchandise. Example is body pillows/pottery/blankets ect not even high quality either but it'll be target or khols pricing :(. Bottom line check here first for groceries cuz they have most of the essentials but don't plan on GO being your only stop! read more

The old adage, you get what you pay for applied here. Why would you cheap out on expired food? Seriously, you need to do some self reflection on why anyone would consider it. This place is NOTORIOUS for selling expired food? Food poisoning much??? This should be illegal to sell expired food but these days anything goes. I love this place because it's cheap and carries a lot of junk food. My dog is a big eater and I always buy his canned food here by the bulk. However you have to really read the expiry date on the items, many junk food items are past due....I am sure you can't die from eating foods that are a couple days over due, but since I am not living in a 3rd world country and I am paying USD for this I would rather buy non-expired foods... read more

Love coming here for grocery! The expiration dates are short on a lot of the items but as long as your conscious about that, it's great! It's a lot better than some of those big chains (like Pavillions) where you aren't expecting to sell expired items at high prices (yes, I've had this experience..). The other thing to note is that I do typically have to go to another store to complete my grocery shopping as the selections are not that expansive here but I'd still come here to find great deals. read more

It's a Grocery Outlet! Let me repeat this again! Grocery Outlet! It's not Ralphs, Whole Foods or Trader Joes. I come here before doing my regular grocery shopping. Grocery Outlet has some good name brand products including organic products. I purchase fruits, veggies, cheeses, pasta, yogurts and some meats, orange juice and few other products before hitting the regular grocery store. I love buying champagne and wine to try it and see if it's good. Every now and then I will come across a very expensive wine from the Central Coast or a great bottle of champagne from France. It's a good place to go if you want to save a little money and everyone there is extremely nice and helpful. Another thing is the store is very clean and was remodeled not to long ago. read more

I went to the one on Huntington dr x Rosemead the former home of Trader Joe's. I agree with the other reviews they do have some good prices, especially the produce and the staff are nice enough. I bought a pineapple for $1.99, small cream cheese for $99 cents and a bag of raw almonds $5.99. I am extremely disappointed that the almonds were stale because Trader Joe's has them for about the same price. I recommend anyone picking up items here to check the expiration date and save your receipts. The almonds were no where near expiring which concerned me even more. Overall it's not worth it to save a few bucks, I'll stick with Trader Joe's for my nuts lol read more

Bought cheese kale chips here for $2.99, elsewhere sell for at least $5.50 to $6.00. Think of this place like a Big Lots of grocery stores. Their products are not stable, but they have many bargains. The outlet store sucks. I tried using the coupons from a different location and they wouldn't accept it. You would think they accept it considering it's from Grocery outlet.The one on the emails expires fast. Usually only two registers are open if they're not busy.There's no variety of food. Received email for 12/04/2019 for the Duarte Store and drove 7 miles to buy item on sale. When I got there was told by deli employee that it was for the day before and only for their old stock. She said maybe manager would honor it. When I talked to acting manager she didn't know anything about it and only went by what other employee told her and refused to sell it to me because I didn't have email. When I got home I printed email which clearly stated 12/04/2019 specials. I called and was told I was correct she had checked it and if I wanted to drive back she would honor it. When asked why she couldn't check why I was there she told me she was too busy! Real Customer Service. Sad thing when manager doesn't even know whats going on. read more

This is a great store! I love shopping here, and I'm so happy that it is close to home. I always try to save money and this place has saved me so much time and money so far. I walked out of the store with a cart literally full of groceries and it was under 50 bucks. The staff is so helpful and friendly and even the owners are out on the floor working. The strip mall is in need of repair as others have stated in their reviews, but that has nothing to do with this great store. Everyone needs to check this place out and see the deals! I give this grocery warehouse in Duarte five stars only because I can't give them 10 I have been shopping here on numerous times with my wife as well every time we go in there were just so happy everyone is so friendly and so nice they make us feel as if we are family members the prices on the groceries are very very minimal and everything is fresh and we find pretty much everything that we are looking for every time we go there are always sales and not to mention if you sign up give them your email address they always send you coupons that you can also use as well we love this place we love the employees and we always look forward to going there when we have to do our grocery shopping I highly recommend this place management is very professional and they will listen to you if you have any problems and everybody goes out of their way to help you if you can find something don't drop your money anywhere else or waste your money anywhere else if you're not happy come to this grocery warehouse and Duarte I guarantee you'll be happy especially with the savings and the variety of foods that are offered read more

When I approached them to say how I felt about the situation, I was asked to 'shut up and leave' and they were grinning from ear to ear. Disappointed in what they have to offer. Limited meats and produce. Lots of similar healthy dry and boxed items that one can find at Trader Joe's and other nearby stores. The prices are a bit less, but not as much as 99cent stores and Walmart. Idk what they can tout as different than the other stores. Really it is just one more place to go to, but with the same items and within similar price points. read more
