Groomit is a convenient, on-demand dog grooming service, but the quality is really dependent on which groomer you get. Our first experience with Groomit (with Luliia) was amazing. This was the first time that our Spaniel was groomed and she made sure he was comfortable and cared for the entire duration. Throughout the visit, we could hear her gently speaking to him in the bathroom and taking breaks with him when he seemed to be nervous or distracted. His cut was spectacular and she left our bathroom in immaculate shape. Our second experience was...not so great. We made the mistake of opting in for the "eco" package, which does not let you pick a preferred groomer. This groomer did not seem as experienced (compared to our previous experiences with groomers) and insisted on putting our Spaniel on a portable, unstable grooming table, which he did not like. We asked for a different set up, but this was not accommodated. We ended the groom early due to our dog being very uncharacteristically uncomfortable and the effort on our part to help calm him. Net/net: If you find a groomer that you and your dog/cat like, it's worth the extra money. read more

Our toy poodle HATES being groomed for some reason but this service makes it somewhat bearable for him. We love our Groomit Groomer, Lisa, who always shows up on time and goes above and beyond. She sets up, grooms, and cleans up. We even bought a cheap fold-able dog groomer table on Amazon to make the process easier for Lisa. 5 stars all the way and we are never going to a regular shop again. read more

My first experience with groomit was great. The groomer was on time, professional, prepared, and did a great job. I would give this service 5 stars based on my first experience. This is a good service, however the second time I used the service I made an appointment with a 3 hour window unfortunately they canceled my appointment after waiting 2 and a half hours. I was very disappointed that my time was wasted. After complaining they finally offered me a $25.00 discount to reschedule. Ok I rescheduled then they canceled on me again. Lol wasted more time. Now I have a $25.00 discount and had some free time therefore I decided to try the service again. I scheduled my appointment the groomer came late, which is ok, I live in Manhattan it happens. The groomer was very professional she gave my baby a great haircut. unfortunately she cut her and tried to lie about it. If she owned up to it and apologized I would have been fine. My baby was bleeding and I was very disappointed with the service. I immediately texted customer service and they tell me the groomer said there was no blood but she did cut her. Bottom line use this service at your own risk supervise the groomer, they have poor management. Hopefully they fix their issues. The app is supposed to be convenient. read more

Now let me tell you about my friend Alison... I'm new to being a dog owner and dog person. When Alison arrived I made sure to tell her that, I told her that before my puppy Master Bruce Wayne III, the only thing I hated more than dogs was dog people. But then there was Bruce, this dog that I met that I fell in love with the instant I laid eyes in him there at the American Kennel in Lexington. I went from hating dogs to spending 2k to take the beautiful Pomeranian home with me. I haven't been the same ever since. As a newbie to the dog world I had no clue how to take care of Bruce. I don't feed him dog food he eat a very healthy organic meats and vegetables diet. He eats beef, some fish, duck (like real duck not that freeze dried bullshit), ground beef, skirt steak, lamb, all on a healthy rotating regimen. We cook for him (again my life has never been the same). This lovely warm hearted lady came to my home and loved Bruce as if he were her own. Beside him freaking out over the blow drying as he usually does, he was very responsive and friendly to her. In this weird new place in my life as a dog person it makes all the difference. She understood him better than I did and I was so impressed. Plus Alison just seems to be a fundamentally good person. This was my first time using this service but now I'm sold! This makes life's easier. Bruce is beautiful and so happy after his gold package. His nails are cut, his coat is conditioned and cleaned. He smells amazing. Qaadir Muridallah!!!! First of all he was LATE!! second he literally tried to fight me, third he abused and DRAGGED MY DOG. Fourth I have a Goldendoodle and from my stand point he looked fine. I brushed and wash him myself, it with a dog like that you may think you are going it correctly. So I take accountability for that. But for the groomer to be unprofessional, not welcoming when he was late, verbally rude, "literally telling me what you gone do" "put the dog down". Absolutely terrible. Would not recommend at all. They left razor burns across my dog's entire stomach. Laceration right above his genital area. He was so traumatized by the entire experience. Lucy is an old lady dog who has a lot of lumps and bumps (cocker spaniel mix) and our Groomit groomer was so kind and caring towards her. Finding this app was such a relief! With a really unpredictable freelance schedule, it is sometimes near-impossible to get my dog in at my favorite, most-trusted groomer -- My Two Dogs in Brooklyn. I am apprehensive of most other groomers because my dog is a little fearful and has come back from some groomers shaking and acting "off" for hours. So when my girlfriend found this app, we decided to give it a try. We booked for a Sunday evening, a time otherwise unheard of in the dog grooming world! Charles Walker was our groomer. Someone from the app had called us asking if he could come 2 hours before our scheduled appointment, and I had a very hard time hearing that person on the phone since I was out and they seemed not to have the best phone voice... but I informed them it wouldn't be possible. He came about 30 minutes early anyway, but luckily we had just gotten in. He was great with my whiny shih tzu, and how amazing is it to not have to find 3 hours to kill around Bushwick when my dog is at her usual groomers?! I totally recommend the app and Charles Walker. It's more expensive by about $40 than my normal groom, but that's how much I usually spend killing time during my dogs grooming anyway, and can't beat sitting in your own living room while your dog is getting groomed. Plus, the peace of mind factor knowing my dog isn't shaking in a corner somewhere is priceless. Thank you Charles! read more

I just had the most amazing experience with Groomit, and specifically Leo. After 3 less than stellar experiences at a traditional groomer, I went online to search out alternatives. Being able to have my sweet Leila (2 yo Labradoodle) groomed at home, in a familiar environment, with me there... sounded perfect. That said, it's certainly a little nerve wracking having a stranger come into your home -- but the moment Leo arrived, I was immediately at ease. He was so kind and calmly explained how everything would work. As soon as he started playing music for Leila, I knew I made the right decision! I cannot recommend Leo enough. He is incredibly intuitive and clearly loves what he is doing. He even has a degree in dog dermatology ( I think I have that right?). All in, it was actually LESS expensive having in-home grooming, than taking her to the traditional groomer. read more

I have used Groomit 3 times (first two times w Angel and he did an incredible job) most recently a different groomer. I have a 1 yr old doodle - soft coat. The groomer buzzed my dog to the point he is now almost bald. The cut is so close to the skin, the vet told me i need to monitor it. The groomer also pretty much detached one of his back claws w the clipper. Yes, most breeders remove when they're puppies and vets can do it easily, but a groomer should not assume they are removed. I had to rush him to the vet and both back hangnails were surgically removed. He was bleeding all over my home, my car, and a towel. I will say Groomit itself was responsive and apologetic. I didn't pay for the cut, they covered the vet bill. However, my dog has been extremely itchy, will be in a cone for two weeks, need stitches removed and is most likely traumatized. I will be learning how to groom him myself moving forward. read more

The new standard for dog grooming. Groomit is awesome. After struggling all day trying to make a grooming appointment, I stumbled upon Groomit. It was extremely easy to set up an appointment, and they come right to your apartment with all the necessary equipment. It literally does not get any easier. We went with the gold package, which was very affordable, especially given the fact that they are coming to you. Our groomer, Lisa Aponte, was amazing with our little goldendoodle pup. Just from watching her work, it was easy to see that she is extremely caring, friendly, enthusiastic, and genuinely enjoys her work! She is also very knowledgeable and was able to answer any hygienic questions we had. Our pup was in love with Lisa from the second she walked in the door. He was extremely matted, but these mattes were no match for Lisa. When she was finished, he looked/felt great (and smelled amazing). He was the perfect length with just the right amount of scruff left on his head! We will definitely be using Groomit moving forward, and we will definitely be requesting Lisa! I was very happy to find this service for my anxious dog. I felt it was better for him to get serviced at home where he knows he's safe. Unfortunately, I have to give my dog a sedative in order to make it easier on everyone. I've used Groomit about 5-6 times. Twice they cancelled on me within an hour or two before my appointment time. I have to medicate my dog 3 hours prior to appointment, so I would give him a pill, and soon after they would cancel. On top of that the prices are outrageously high! I was charged $145 for a medium size dog, and that's not including a tip! Also, as someone else had mentioned, the quality really depends on the groomer you get. Only once did I have a very professional groomer, and when I requested her again, I was told that she no longer works for them. Other times it was barely professional grooming, no plucking hair from the ears, no nail trimming, and very ugly uneven trim all around. I gave up on this service and took my dog to the daycare that he goes to which also provides grooming services. I was in awe when I was sent a video of my dog's trimming. No sedative, no collar, no leash, and my dog was behaving beautifully! The haircut was gorgeous, ears plucked, nails trimmed, all for $90! That's what I call a professional service! read more

The idea for this service is good, but the reality leaves a lot to be desired. The groomer arrived on time and was courteous. However, the grooming itself was basic and almost lazy. "Blow dry" means the groomer will sit there with a commercial air dryer blowing on your dogs for 30 minutes. Why wouldn't you brush them while drying them so that it is faster and they look nicer? My real problem with the service is that they promise to clean up after themselves and leave everything as it was. Our groomer did not clean at all. So our bathroom was left with dog hair all over the floor, bathtub and sink. Unacceptable. In a pinch, maybe I would use this again. But I wouldn't recommend it. read more
