Whenever I'm visiting family in central NJ, Grounded for Life is a must visit for me. As a vegan, it's a real challenge to find decent - let alone GOOD - food in this area. The exception is Grounded for Life, which offers delicious breakfast and lunch options that are thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and satisfying. Their extensive, all vegan menu offers breakfast options such as bagel sandwiches, burritos, toasts, and more, and even their coffee is surprisingly good! I have also enjoyed their wraps, bowls, and sandwiches. And they even have burgers and hot dogs, too. GfL is my new spot for takeout (order ahead online to save time!) before heading to the airport. The chunky chicken wrap saved me when my flight back to the West coast (already a long journey) was delayed by several hours and I was starving. The cafe also has a number of yummy desserts displayed in the case that are great to-go. GfL also offers a "Meal Prep" option where you can order food on a weekly or monthly basis. Service is friendly and efficient, but they are sometimes understaffed. Try to be patient and nice, and your tasty food will be out soon enough. The cafe itself is pretty small with just a few tables indoors. The outdoor patio is more expansive, and I recommend enjoying your food and drinks outside if the weather is decent. read more

Grounded for Life is one of my favorite local lunch places. This cafe has excellent options, particularly for those who are vegan and/or gluten free, or simply looking for healthy options. My personal favorites are the BLT wrap with chipotle aioli, and the Live On green juice (apple, kale, celery, ginger, and lemon). All of the smoothies and juices are delicious and fresh. I've always loved the BLT wrap so much that I've actually never tried anything else on the food menu! The prices are fair, with plenty of food options under $10. Most of the wraps are around $10, and the juices and smoothies are around $6-9. The restaurant atmosphere is cute and casual, perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast or lunch. The service is excellent and quick. They also offer local delivery on apps such as DoorDash. Clinton was in need of vegan options for a while, so I was so thrilled when Grounded for Life opened! I wanted more when I finished my bowl. The sandwiches are offered on chiabata bread. The cheese stake was sublime, but prepare for a sloppy meal. Everything was supper fresh. My boyfriend and I got a couple things and for the most part salt and pepper were a total must. The soup was flavorful but the avocado toast tasted like pure lemon. This is a cute TINY place with an interesting menu but the one time I went in the staff did not acknowledge I was even there and when I came to the counter and ordered the woman was incredibly rude and the girl next to her were openly making fun of what I ordered, like saying " I can't believe she ordered the liver cleanse". I really wasn't expecting the food to be that good but they hit it out the park. Usually little vegan cafes leave much to be desired. I was expecting healthy vegan under satisfying food but we got some excellent quality lunch instead. I mean healthy food is usually just healthy tasting but they elevated healthy into something we never experienced outside of our own kitchen. The Saucey burgers with that chipotle aioli were absolutely amazing. The "It's a wrap" with vegan toona salad was immediately inhaled... my mom called me while I was devouring it and my conversation didn't stand a chance, my end probably sounded like a series of grunts and mm hmms cause I was a bit in a trance. Our only complaint is that they only gave us one container of ceaser dressing for that big ass salad... leaving us licking the container looking like savages... hands down best vegan ceaser ever and I've been searching for years... please don't deprive people any longer... don't know if you have to adjust the pricing or salad quantity but please the salad needs a minimum of 2 containers. Definitely will be coming back for more whenever we're in town.
