You ever walk into a place and instantly doubt if you are in the right? That's how ordering takeout from the Riverside Cafe felt. Ordering and waiting for our food felt awkward and almost inconvenient to the workers around us. Specifically came here after seeing another review about their fruity tea. On quest for those, I made sure to point to their signage advertising them. The server taking our order copied verbatim what the sign read & got to making them... ice, black tea, and Torani flavored fruit syrup. Not what I assumed they were supposed to be, so a bit disappointed on that forefront. ‍ The food looked good, tasted good, no complaints there. Might return to try a 'dine in' experience, but never again for takeout.

This was a last minute decision and off the beaten path. Staffing issues was evident here, but food was good. A bit pricey. $114 for 4 people for breakfast without tip is a bit much

Have been coming here for a while, and we noticed the food got a lot better about a year or two ago when the place switched owners. They have great dine in service with friendly staff (Maria is super nice), and also offer take out which we get and eat down by the river. The corned beef hash is one of the best I've had.

Came here everyday on our vacation, the lady working is what you'd imagine a stereotypical friendly diner waitress to be like in the best way. Saw her there every time we went, super sweet lady. and the food is pretty good. I'd say average breakfast food but that's what we were looking for. that said, they do also have some unique options like the salmon Benedict which was delicious. Home fries were the best here!! Definitely a cute place if you're in the area.

We both ordered the Brazilian cheese bread sandwich, not because of the GF, but because we loved the little cheese bread balls that we had while visiting friends in Brazil. I ordered with the hash browns, which turned out to be REAL potato made here, not a Mc-patty pulled from the freezer. Great seasoning and perfectly cooked. The sandwich had a little spinach, well cooked egg (not too runny, but maybe a hint more than needed), and smoky bacon on a split cheese bread "roll." It was super hot when served; I finished almost all of my potato before I could eat it - no complaints on temperature. The flavor was really good - and unique. My only concerns were that the bacon was "tough" so that a bite tended to pull out the whole strip. It wasn't bad, but maybe a crispy bacon would bite more cleanly. The other issue, and really the only significant one, was the density of the cheese bread. I expected something similar to the cheese bread balls, which have a texture similar to a good Italian bread (not the squishy supermarket kind). This was almost solid. We've made the cheese bread balls at home, with good success, so I'll try the different shape - maybe for burgers! - and see if it's a challenge. I'll come back to explain if the experiment to make fluffier buns is not successful. Meanwhile, the place filled up and some of the other menu items looked really good. We're very likely to go back for a lunch.

Our only real option was two seats at the bar. We had quick and attentive service from the bartender. Interesting offerings for cocktails, and we enjoyed our drinks. The food I think can be best described as American/Thai/Asian. Food came pretty fast, and we started with crab rangoon, and possibly the largest we have ever been served. Fried up crisp, not greasy and generously filled with cream cheese and real crab. Next up, we tried the Waygu burger which was quite good, nice toppings. My only complaint here was we wished the fries were fresh out of the fryer. I'm really fussy about fries and like them hot, crispy and fresh. Sadly, these were not. I had my eye on the Choco Taco for dessert, and this was a sophisticated version of the classic frozen treat you may have enjoyed from the ice cream truck as a kid. Home made with great ingredients, it was a perfect finish to a very nice meal. I would definitely give these guys a try when in Newburyport.
