Poorly executed food and service overshadow a spectacular venue. It's clear that there's a…read moremanagement and training problem at this Newburyport waterfront restaurant. It took way too long to receive our burger and chicken tenders. It's because they were sitting for so long and the burger was not even warm. It had absolutely no flavor. It was advertised as caramelized, onions, Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms. I only realized now that I received red onions. It was such a disappointment, but I was hungry. It was only remarkable in how remarkably tasteless it was. The service was just abysmal. It was Sunday afternoon around 1pm - 8/16. We had to flag our server down and she was not even friendly. She never said thank you when she handed our receipt. We received our cold meal and we had no utensils or napkins. It took us some time to flag down someone. We had to ask for ketchup and there were no other condiments. It was just terrible. I could not believe the 2.6 rating. It is very believable now. This is just poor management. The location and the restaurant are simply beautiful. It's a large bar with TVs that have the Red Sox on. A very good live singer entertained. The views of the harbor are wonderful. It did not make up for the gaps. I hope someone invests the time and leadership to elevate this experience.

This is what we got: - Grape leaves: Delicious stuffed grape leave paired with heart of palm and blood orange. The crispy brussel sprouts on the top provided some crispiness to the plate. - Chickpea tofu: The combination of the chickpea tofu with the delicata squash was just delightful. I wouldn't even know how to improve the plate if I was asked to... - Pot pie: Perfect bite for a winter. It makes you warm up immediately. The flavors were on point. You only need to be patient with this one, since it takes a while until it cools down and you can really enjoy it as it deserves. - Sweets: The description of this plate was only "cherry, blueberry, strawberry, pear" so we didn't really know what to expect. Well, we were served with a delicious piece of cake. Every bite made you come back for more. If I was asked about something to improve, my only recommendation would be to make sure the waitress describes the plate when served. At least the time we were there, that was not the case. The sandwich had a little spinach, well cooked egg (not too runny, but maybe a hint more than needed), and smoky bacon on a split cheese bread "roll." It was super hot when served; I finished almost all of my potato before I could eat it - no complaints on temperature. The flavor was really good - and unique. My only concerns were that the bacon was "tough" so that a bite tended to pull out the whole strip. It wasn't bad, but maybe a crispy bacon would bite more cleanly. The other issue, and really the only significant one, was the density of the cheese bread. I expected something similar to the cheese bread balls, which have a texture similar to a good Italian bread (not the squishy supermarket kind). This was almost solid. We've made the cheese bread balls at home, with good success, so I'll try the different shape - maybe for burgers! - and see if it's a challenge. I'll come back to explain if the experiment to make fluffier buns is not successful. Meanwhile, the place filled up and some of the other menu items looked really good. We're very likely to go back for a lunch.

My only complaint here was we wished the fries were fresh out of the fryer. I'm really fussy about fries and like them hot, crispy and fresh. Sadly, these were not. I had my eye on the Choco Taco for dessert, and this was a sophisticated version of the classic frozen treat you may have enjoyed from the ice cream truck as a kid. Home made with great ingredients, it was a perfect finish to a very nice meal. I would definitely give these guys a try when in Newburyport.

I've been to Riverside a few times only for lunch and I think their food is delicious. The sandwiches are made fresh to order and the deli meat is very tasty. It's a simple place; you order at the counter and grab your drink from the fridge, but the price is right and the food is great. A great place for a quick lunch with some easy options for kids as well. Their pizzas are delicious, burritos are yummy and sandwiches are fresh. The atmosphere is nice, with free wi-fi and friendly service and its very clean. We took lunch to go once and walked over to the nearby park had a nice picnic on the water (its pretty much on the Merrimac River). You really couldn't ask for much more for this type of breakfast/lunch spot - plus they post their daily specials on Facebook which is convenient. We will definitely be back very soon. read more

Unfortunately I can not recommend this business at all. We wanted to try this place and went in recently. The food was not good and we could see right into the kitchen. Needless to say we quickly asked for to go containers as to not offend the waitress and went home and quickly threw our food away. Cleanliness is the utmost important thing when it comes to food service and something this place seems to overlook. Very sad but true. read more

Disappointing breakfast. We had a five minute wait for a table, which was not bad. After being seated it took 15 minutes to get the coffee to the table. After 30 minutes of being at the table, we noticed that several other people that came in after us were already eating and there was no food to our table! read more

Female companion ordered Sesame Bowl with salmon. Our $68 meal came -- potato was starchy (old) and not warm. Brussel sprouts were hard. The meat--no way was it an 18oz (even cooked down) piece of meat. Was cut very thin & barely enough for one person. Didn't receive onion strings. Female companion got her sesame bowl, but WITHOUT the salmon. Had to wait another 10min because we kept hearing "the kitchen was backed up". Really bad performance with $300+ bill to show for it. Wouldn't mind paying if it was worth it, but they really missed the mark. I emailed restaurant to explain situation, but never heard from them, so need to share my experience via YELP. Sorry MOG we won't be back, but need to share the final nail in the coffin---there was gum under the table where I sat (2nd seat in from the left if facing circular table). Just gross.
