What a beautiful and delicious experience we had at Ocean Hai. It's a level of elegance we wanted. The overall look from the entrance, the food, and the gorgeous patio is a must add to your list when in Clearwater! It was crazy hot so we couldn't sit on the patio but at sunset it was still a stunning view. Kalby was an absolute pleasure to be serviced by. She was attentive and used her talents to help recommend entrees from the menu. Our starter was the bulgogi skewers which were perfectly balanced with sweet and Korean spice. The edamame was our least favorite dish. I did discuss this with kalby and the manager. The idea was there but poor execution. The gochujang sea salt...the gochujang just wasn't there and once you ate that top layer all you got was oily edamame, so much oil...you wouldn't need chapstick for the rest of the day. Then wins though came from the cocktails. Ours were delicious and my old fashion was spot on. Also in the win was the sunset sushi, beautiful and fantastic, along with Korean crispy chicken. The peanut sauce was the perfect balance to that meal. Now...what we also loved that should be permanently on the menu was the mochi. We had 4 of them and they were wonderful! Everyone should be able to experience these. But ocean hai on your list as a must try place for sure. read more

First thing's first, the ambiance at this place when the sun is setting is absolutely worth having dinner here. We had the nicest table right on the patio overlooking the beach and it was fantastic. Our server was pleasant when she was around, but it seemed like she went missing for long periods of time and always right when we seemed to need something. Service was generally slow and the restaurant wasn't super busy when we were there. Food was mediocre at best. We started with the bulgogi beef skewers and the ahi tuna apps. The skewers were sort of dry and chewy...and I don't know that they tasted like bolgogi. The tuna tartar app tasted heavily of lime and nothing else and the cuts on the tuna were pretty messy and made it a bit difficult to eat. The grouper entree was okay, but the piece of fish I got looked like a baseball in that it was thick and sort of round? It made it just kind of tough and overcooked on the outside and a little undercooked on the inside. The chicken fried rice was good, but nothing to write home about. read more

The best buffet I have had in a while, with stunning views of clearwater beach. It was themed for Halloween/fall. Pumpkin Waffles and brain 'cinnamons' Service was great for our drinks. My friend really liked her Sangria. The buffet had everything from crab claws (my personal favorite) to both salmon lox and baked salmon. The mac and cheese was the best side item, creamy and made with several varieties of cheeses. Glad to find this place, will definitely return especially to celebrate other holidays. read more

A friend recommended Ocean Hai, so I wanted to check it out. I came here for dinner and requested to sit outside so we could watch the sunset, which I highly recommend. Everything was amazing, from the service to the food. I would definitely come back again whenever I'm in Clearwater. Sat outside. Had the $25 buffet. So-so. I'm not sure why I expected something better for hotel fare. Food wasn't very hot. French toast sticks were hard and inedible. Oatmeal, although steel cut, wasn't better than instant, but they had a nice selection of add-ins. The hostess was incredibly sweet and welcoming, and she seated us at a beautiful table right up front on the patio. Our waiter was equally kind and offered great recommendations. This place was genuinely incredible. I took my girlfriend here for our 1 year anniversary because I saw it on maps and it sounded good, and we both love seafood. I found the restaurant while I was still deciding on what hotel we were going to stay at and then just so happened to choose the Wyndham Grand (which was also amazing but that's a different story). I was very pleasantly surprised to see them hand us a discount card at check in which got us 10% off on our meal here - even better! I booked us an outdoor table at 5 pm hoping we'd have a perfect view of the sunset. And, well, the attached pictures speak for themselves! It was really gorgeous, beautiful atmosphere and our waiter was great. The meal started with some complimentary edamame which is always a plus. My girlfriend ordered the scallops which were so good, as well as an order of sashimi which is not my personal preference but she was visibly in heaven. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and two kamikaze rolls which were specifically recommended by our waiter (although to be honest I would've ordered it anyway - shrimp tempura and spicy lobster, it doesn't get better than that). No exaggeration, it was the best sushi roll I've ever had. If I go back, I'm just going to order three of them and call it a night. Long story short, I was optimistic about this place but didn't really know what to expect, and it managed to exceed all expectations. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable. The only concern I had was witnessing the staff clearing dishes from an adjacent table, one of them put a jar of coffee creamer on the tray with the cleared dishes. Another member of staff removed the creamer and said something to the other two. They looked at him funny as he walked it to the beverage bar and put it on ice to, I assume, reuse for the next guest. My problem with this is that it was already put on the dirty dishes tray and before that, you don't know if the guest drank from it or touched the rim of it to their coffee cup on which their lips had been. I suppose it could be said of any table condiment, but an uncovered container is certainly more at risk of contamination than a closed catsup bottle. read more

This restaurant is located in the beautiful Wyndham Grand Hotel, since I was attending a conference here it afforded me the opportunity to visit this restaurant a number times. With each visit I was reminded how consistent the service and food was the entire week, the staff here is very accommodating and professional. There was nothing served here that I didn't enjoy starting with my first meal, a very high quality tender New Strip cooked perfectly medium rare with a salad and vegetable fried rice this was all served after a number of wonderful shared appetizers which included shrimp dumplings, steak tips, egg rolls. I also enjoyed a catered meal from Ocean Hai for an event I was attending at the hotel this included a wonderful rendition of a surf and turf theme including a beautiful Beef Filet and a large portion of Chilean Sea Bass which started with a incredible cocktail flight and finished with a delicious crème brûlée. As much as I was hoping to like this restaurant, it did not live up to expectations. They are located inside the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Resort and due to this, the pricing is very reflective. We were staying nearby at the Hyatt Regency so it was just a short walk away. The dishes all looked beautiful but the service was incredibly slow and the quality of food was just sub-par. The soup we ordered (not pictured) was full of pepper and the two people that tried it hated it. The waiter saw this and didn't even bother offering a different option. Now the sushi was good, and I did enjoy that. However everything else was alright and felt overpriced for what we were offered. The restaurant was empty (only one other table was occupied) yet it took nearly 2 hours for us to eat. The waiter had disappeared for most of our meal and would only come when it was time to bring out dishes. I definitely think there is room for improvement with a revamp of hospitality training and a redo of their menu. The restaurant looked beautiful but I think the emptiness spoke for itself. read more

My dad and I went here for Christmas dinner. It wasn't crowded at all. I really wanted the jollof rice since i also visited Ghana and wanted to try the chefs spin on it but they only had the kimchi fried rice. The inside of the restaurant was nicely designed! Walking into the hotel was like stepping onto the set of a soap opera--an entrance so grand it could make The White Lotus jealous. The open-concept layout screamed, "Look at us, we're fabulous!"--reception, waiting area, and bar all mingling together like an elite social club. The service? Impeccable, as if the staff were handpicked by royalty. Bottles of wine were priced so reasonably I almost felt guilty enjoying them (but not guilty enough to stop, like we had 4 bottles for our 6 person group). Outside on the patio, the wind tried its best to create dramatic tension--it wasn't gale-force or anything, but enough to make me feel proud I remembered to bring a shawl to wear it like it was my superhero cape. If you're cold-natured like me, take my advice: bring a light jacket. My friends and I laughed, sipped, and basked in the sunset that felt so cinematic we nearly expected credits to roll after 10/10 perfection. The plot twist? We had two toddlers with us and she was very accommodating. We got the brussels sprouts, edamame dumplings, spring rolls for appetizers. Everything was delicious. The brussels sprouts were my absolute favorite! For dinner, we got the tofu Noodles, the fried rice, the Asian salad, the wagyu beef, and the chicken. Everything was flavorful and delectable. The best restaurant on Clearwater Beach hands down. While we found several restaurants that were awesome back in 2019, this year Ocean Hai was one of the few that maintained its excellence for service, food and ambiance. First a thank you to GM Seth who arranged our reservation weeks ago even though he was out on travel. We ere very surprised at the wonderful surprise he had for us celebrating a special occasion. And Sergio, Restaurant Manager and of curse Rauf who was our server and excellent throughout. Our son and wife had recently visited so we had an idea of what to order. Appetizers crab Rangoon and shrimp pot stickers which were tasty and excellent. For entrees gulf grouper and seabass also tasty, full of flavor. And the shrimp fried rice (hint ask for them to lessen sauce as we did). Dessert was tough to select as were so full but we ordered the chokoreto and subbed vanilla for chocolate ice cream. Seated in a private area away from the sun, it felt like we were the only ones there. A wonderful experience and our thanks to everyone for making it a memorable evening. read more

We got several different sushi rolls- and they were great! If the host had been more professional and honorable and less snooty and snobby, i might have given five stars. But he made me feel like an inconvenience; he spoke to me in a way that made me feel insignificant and unwanted. I understand i didn't have a reservation- but still- the host welcome experience sets the tone for the whole moment- and the tone from him was not hospitable to me. read more

The view here is gorgeous, and perhaps this place is worth visiting for that alone, but if you order anything stick to the sushi. The bao buns were cold and lacked the soft, fluffy texture that they're supposed to have; the flavors in the octopus were good but the meat itself was tough and had a weird texture. The worst dish was the fried chicken: the supposed gochujang sauce tasted like Frank's red hot, and what was advertised as a "pecan cornbread souffle" was really just a tough, crumbly corn muffin. The only item that was not a disappointment was their sushi roll. Overall, a good place for the view and maybe a drink or sushi roll, but not a spot I'll be returning to for the food. read more

Stayed at the Wyndham for my birthday weekend! Had dinner at Ocean Hai! What a fantastic experience! We had Sushi and a Grouper special. My wife and I shared everything and everything was perfect! Wine list was great. Service was attentive yet gave us space to enjoy our evening. The atmosphere was a little "crowded" as the restaurant is on the main floor located in a busy part of the hotel. I would have liked to see a little more upscale dining atmosphere to match the food experience. read more

We made early reservations for a table of 6 for Thanksgiving Buffet. First time dining here. We felt it was poorly executed spacing, long lines , and food that was not hot enough. Our table had no table cloth with condensation from water glasses constantly dripping everywhere and we were next to a large door that constantly slammed shut and it was very cold. I had to dine with a jacket on. Overall , not good for Thanksgiving and felt it was not worth the amount paid. But, I have a feeling it would be a better experience when it's not a buffet setting . read more

We went here for dinner without reservation but they were able to seat us right away. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and you can even see the sunset from the restaurant (the restaurant is located at wyndham hotel) and across the street from the beach. Our waiter is very knowledgeable of the dish and menu. I like the twist on their alcohol drink since they corporate the asian alcohol to their cocktails drink. The serve edamame in lieu of bread which my kids devoured them. The kids love their sushi rolls and sashimi and we like the wagyu skewer appetizer. My husband had their grouper and it was okay. I had the pho and i think it just okay. I still recommend this place for great ambience and good drinks. The mango craft beer was so good and their old fashioned as well. But they really need to work on the food seasoning. read more

Visited this restaurant nestled in the Wyndham resort on the beach in Clearwater, FL. The interior was elegant and nice and featured an open air kitchen where you could watch the folks cook / prepare your meal. The service was on point and the servers were quick to bring anything you required checking back often to ensure your dining experience was not lacking anything. We shared a couple of apps Potstickers and Crab Rangoon and a couple of sushi rolls. It was a perfect amount of food. One roll pictured (the volcano roll) was brought by mistake instead of the ordered rainbow roll. The sever immediately had the correct roll delivered and did not charge us for the volcano roll. Jason and his team at Ocean Hai were absolutely fantastic in making our son's wedding an absolutely beautiful and successfull event. The food was awesome and the attention to the fine details were outstanding from the time we arrived until the last person left. They were on point with their service and making sure everyone was satisfied with every detail, from the initial setup to their food and drinks to accommodating the wedding traditions of a champagne toast, cutting the cake and tossing the bouquet. With the aftermath of two recent hurricanes, Jason and his crew went over and above to make sure our event was the most beautiful we could have ever expected. First time for the family and I in Clearwater. This restaurant is located in the Wyndham hotel we were staying at. It had good ratings so we wanted to check it out. The service was slow which is to be expected but friendly. We were never offered complimentary edamame, though. We were there for 2 hours but had no where to be so it was fine. The two stars is merely for the unimpressive food which lacked flavor and not prepared well. I have to try pho every where I travel. The waygu beef pho was bland and disappointing. I would rank it as the worst alongside Disney Epcot's and one I had in London. My youngest wanted California roll which was not on the menu but the kindly made it. It reminded me of tuna salad roll. Sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and very dry. Thai coconut soup the portion is very small. Per my daughter it tasted good. Kid's pepperoni pizza seemed to be good per my 8 year old. Chicken pot stickers and half dozen oysters were good. Maybe stick to the sushi and sashimi; nothing else. Our bill came to $222 which is high and not worth it the cost to portion as well as the food was not fabulous. read more
