The Grouse Mountain Grill has consistently great fine dining in Beaver Creek. The service is excellent, and the food is always good. The location in the Pines Lodge is a little bit out of the way, but well worth the trip. During the busy 2008 holiday season, our family enjoyed an excellent lamb shank special, with meat that practically fell right off the bone. Located in the Pine Lodge at Beaver Creek, this was a great meal. The restaurant has a large classy bar area (with live piano while we were there), along with a large dining area with a nice view of the mountains. We started with the Fontina & Black Truffle Tater Tots with a pickle aioli and the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Crudo. My wife enjoyed the tuna (great presentation!), and my daughter and thought the tots were great. These were upscale tots, and the pickle aioli was the perfect accompaniment to it. Simple, but done perfectly. Along with the main course, I had a Moscow Mule Martini, that was superb as well. For the main course, I had the Grilled North American Elk Loin. Simply put, it was cooked perfectly, was very tender, and had incredible flavor. From the appetizer to the cocktail, to the elk for my main course, it was all done to perfection. I really enjoyed this evening out. Our waitress was also knowledgeable on the menu and the chefs sourcing of the ingredients and was attentive in ensuring we enjoyed ourselves. I don't shell out very many 5 star reviews, but this meal was worth it! read more

Stayed at Bachelor Gulch for the weekend and Grouse Mountain Grill came highly recommended. We enjoyed the fall special 3-course meal for $39 per person. My daughter had the pretzel pork chop and enjoyed it. But heard that it will be taken off the menu shortly so we were glad we were able to try it before it's gone. read more

Everything about this restaurant was absolutely amazing. From the service, to the cocktails and wine, to the gnocchi and kale salad, to the fresh baked bread and homemade spreads. We almost didn't make it because we were worried about going somewhere we couldn't easily walk to in the snow. This restaurant is wonderful in its setting and service. The staff from the host to the waiters all care that you have a great time and love the food. We did the amazing fixed price menu. Could not believe that one choice was scallops and ravioli in a very special sauce. I usually only write Yelp reviews if my experience is incredibly memorable or really terrible. Our meal at Grouse Mountain Grill falls into the former category. I dined here with my family and boyfriend, a total party of 6. The dining room is simple and cozy, with elegance added by an amazing jazz singer. Our waiter was a real highlight: Patrick. He was a true class act, taking the time to really explain everything on the menu and answer any questions we had. You could tell he really had a passion for the food. We started the meal with a homemade bread basket, truffle tator tots and carmelized crispy brussell sprouts, and then the kitchen brought out complimentary ricotta dumplings with goat meat on top. We were crazy about everything. My family ordered even more orders of the truffle tator tots, and I wish I could have those carmelized brussels everyday! I'm a vegetarian, so for my main course I ordered the gnocchi and glazed carrots, both of which were excellent. The rest of the party had steaks, rabbit, short rib, and fish, and everyone was amazed by how delicious everything continued to be. Because we had such an amazing meal, we decided to keep indulging with dessert. We ordered the apple cinnamon bread pudding, the donut holes, and a coffee creme brulee. As with the rest of the meal, nothing dissapointed. My personal favorite were the donut holes, but the bread pudding was a close second. I grew up in the Vail Valley so I have experienced many of their top restaurants. I'm sad we didn't discover Grouse Mountain Grill sooner. The biz level was super slow however the food and service was outstanding and I'm positive that the restaurant being slow had nothing to do with exceptional service and food quality. First off their pastry chef and baker 6 stars, best bread ever. Super knowledgeable server and very appropriately friendly. Food was plated beautifully and tasted even better. The owner came by and shared her experience of being an owner in a vacation town and the overall restaurant owner experience, very nice. Great deals in off season, crazy in fact. Grouse Mountain Grill occupies a large space on the entry level to The Pines. We were two for dinner on a Monday. Seating at a nice table with a view went smoothly without trying to foist a bad table on us. The menu is large and eclectic, the wine list is encyclopedic and has suggestions for pairings for most items on the menu - something I haven't seen before. The lobster mascarpone was excellent as was the spinach salad. The halibut was very good and so was the chicken. The peach tart was nice. The wines I picked from the pairings suggestions were very well matched to the food. The service was excellent. Our server, Wes, was unobtrusive when needed, full of knowledge when asked a question and very helpful. I have been to many restaurant where excellent food was spoiled by less than stellar service, so I appreciated the service and enjoyed the food better here. read more

My husband and I were so thrilled to bring our family back to the Vail Valley. We spent 10 wonderful years here and Grouse Mtn Grille has always been one of our all-time favorite spots. To begin, our waiter and staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. We were seated at the perfect table where we could enjoy our family. Overall, the food was excellent. I do need to note that since we last visited, my favorite dish has been reduced to nearly half it's size. The other disappointing thing was that when you enter a place of this caliber, you don't expect to be hit with a nearly $70 bill for 8 kiddie cocktails... Wow we could not have been more pleased with our dinner and dining experience. We started with a couple of cocktails and the ability to taste the wines before settling on one. Then the dinner special was actually unreal. Apparently in "shoulder season" they have a three course meal for $39 dollars (app, entree, and dessert). We got the asparagus salad, the butternut squash soup (best we ever had), short ribs with gnocchi, flat iron steak, pear strusel, and a children's brownie sundae. The atmosphere was really relaxing and we felt so well taken care of. It was really wonderful being able to eat here during the special because we could never afford it otherwise. We had an amazing experience here, including cocktails while sharing a yummy "snack" (large portion) of grilled brussel sprouts in a maple reduction with bacon. I had the lobster marscapone appetizer - delicious! Our server, Brian, recommended the trout and I am glad that he did. He said it was ruby red Idaho trout and the accompaniments - homemade gnocchi, basil pesto, sugar snap peas and tomatoes - were perfect. Then...the best blueberry cobbler I've ever had! My husband enjoyed his carrot soup, but thought his gnocchi entree could have benefited from more mushrooms and a bit less salt. We ate here during the "last week" of spring skiing the week of April 14th. The views were wonderful, I can only imagine how beautiful this would be snow all around. There were three of us and we each selected a different dish. As a starter, we shared the pork belly and this was very good. This could have been a meal for me alone! I ordered the pork chops, which were very good. There was too much food for me, but thankfully we had a 14 year with us who gladly took any leftovers. The trout was great, good mix of flavors. The "kid" ordered the duck. It was ok, but again this is from a 14 year old. We enjoyed a cab blend wine from a local Denver winery -- we should have ordered the entire bottle. read more

I'm reviewing GMG for an OUTSTANDING Thanksgiving evening meal and atmosphere. I don't know what it's like the rest of the year, but the service and food were just right for an upscale Thanksgiving restaurant dinner. Thick cuts of white turkey; shredded braised dark meat (like slow cooked pork); heaps of seasonal sides; exceptional roasted red kuri squash soup; marvelous crust on the spiced port apple pie. This was our first Thanksgiving away from home cooking in at least a dozen years and it was fantastic. Thank you restaurant manager Kyle, staff, and Tony G on piano. Will return to see if a "regular" dinner at Grouse Mountain Grill is as good as Thanksgiving dinner (I think it will be). read more

Really bad service! We were celebrating our anniversary and shared that with the server. After the food was dropped we didn't see him again. Don't go there if you have a special occasion, because you're bound to be ignored. Terrible cocktails, there was a hair in our appetizer and the Server watched me pull it out and then took the hair from my finger tips and then told me it was from their organic garden and then left the dish with us to eat. HAHAHHA!! OMG!! All the Wait Staff had filthy aprons on - a dirty Wait Staff outfit totally grosses me out. UGH! The Server told us AFTER we ordered our entree that the pork chop would take 25 minutes to cook - this should have been communicated when we sat down so we could have placed our order early. The music is fantastic, the 25 minute pork chop was out of this world; however, this place needs to go on one of those "redecorate our space" TV shows. I was shocked when I got the bill and it included an 18% gratuity for the three of us, including the buffet. What did they do to earn that 18%, clear the plates? This restaurant tuned out to be not only the best one we visited on our 10-day trip across the country, but also one of the best we've ever been to (and we've dined in many great restaurants). The 14-day aged duck entrée was to die for! Simply perfect. I still remember this dish a month later. They clearly have an amazing chef - all dishes from start to finish were fantastic including the sides of vegetables (delicious roasted carrots!) and the bread that was served with an unusual selection of butters. It felt like being in food heaven. We made sure to come back the next day while we still had an opportunity. My only minor complaint is that several waiters served us throughout the evening and we would have preferred to deal with one person. In any case this was a memorable meal and we'll definitely be back next time we visit Colorado. read more

The best restaurant we ate at in Beaver Creek or Vail. It sounds ridiculous to talk about how good their bread is, but it is seriously the best bread I've ever eaten and the spreads were amazing too. We ordered the following: Lobster Mascarpone - delicious and rich, but not too heavy A salad that was delicious, but I can't remember the name of it now. Lamb 2 Ways - the lamb was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The curried, cauliflower was pureed and a bit too salty for me, but it was still good. Duck 3 Ways - this was my least favorite dish - most of the duck was a bit tough. But, I don't often order duck so maybe this is just the normal texture of duck. Apple Bread Pudding - I don't ever eat bread pudding because I don't like the soggy texture, but my husband ordered this and it is now my favorite dessert. The spongey bread is not at all soggy and the apples had the most incredible flavor. If you are looking for a real culinary treat - eat here. read more
