Such a sleeper spot. Service, drinks, and food are great. Great for intimate date nights. Never had a bad meal or drink. Ask about the specials. My personal favorites are the grilled octopus, shrimp and chorizo cassolette, and grilled lamb rack. Happy hour M-F 3-6.

We went for happy hour, sampled their happy hour menu which is discounted regular menu. Let start: Chicken wings: decent, but is there something wrong with these chickens? Should I be concerned because these are the smallest damned wings ever. I'd ask if they came from a pigeon, but NY pigeons are pretty better fed than that. Next, nacho... edible, non-remarkable, plate a little small, had to ask for jalapeños for them, whatever. French fries, meh, coated fries, which is a no-no if you put stuff on them, which they do. Pizza...wtf!?!?!? We are in NY, miles from NYC and you have the stones to call this excrement pizza!?!? I would eat Altoona pizza over this crap. In short, beer good, food no.

The restaurant has a typical sports bar vibe, with TVs and sports memorabilia on the walls. It was quite loud. The host was kind enough to sit us in a corner so we had room for the stroller we had with us. They have an awesome brunch menu! They also have a full cocktail menu (with very pretty images), but we did not partake this time around. The avocado toast was just okay. I was excited because they seemed to have a unique preparation with dukka and chimichurri. The chimichurri was quite tasty. The bread was nice and hearty and the dressing on the side salad was pleasantly tangy. However, the avocado was not at all fresh. It was slightly brown and tasted like guacamole left in the fridge for a day or two. My husband got the chicken sandwich and was pleased with the taste, portion size, and accompanying fries. My lemonade was on the sweet side. I prefer a bit more of a fresh citrus taste so I asked for some lemon wedges and that helped. Our waiter was friendly.

The owner was very gracious and offered us six complementary oysters since we couldn't sit at the bar. The oysters weren't our favorite that evening, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. The rest of the meal was very enjoyable. The crab cake was enormous, the grilled octopus was excellent - my son loved it - and the veal with prosciutto and melted cheese was tasty. The baked potato was huge and cooked perfectly. I ordered a cocktail and they made me one with elderflower which was nice but a little sweet for my taste. My friend's Manhattan was nice and strong. What stood it the most was the hospitality. The owner went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience, and that level of service is sobering we really appreciated. Next time we'll probably make it an adult only happy hour so we can enjoy the bar menu.

We ordered the porterhouse, creamed spinach, calamari, baked clams, the jumbo baked potato, and some pasta. The porterhouse was perfectly seasoned, and it was enough for three people to share. Whatever sauce the baked clams were doused in, I need that recipe. I used the complementary bread to soak up some of that juice and it was amazing. Their espresso martinis were also really good and strong. The only thing I did not like was the jumbo baked potato. It just felt like there was Velveeta cheese slathered on top, so if there's an item I would pass on, it would be this one. Just get regular mashed potatoes. The service was amazing. The owner came out to meet with us multiple times. Our waiters were very attentive and gave us ample time to order. They literally cut our meat and served it for us. The ambience was really nice. It's your usual steakhouse joint, with dim lighting. However, the best part about this dinner was that they seated us in a private room with one other party. It was very intimate and nice and I don't think I could've asked for better service. The cherry on top was that they came out with limoncello shots to end the night. If you're in the Westchester area, please definitely come check this place out. It is worth the money, time, and effort. You will not be disappointed.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

Server came to take food out order and we asked about our drinks; be here in two minutes. Our food order was in front of us before our drinks ever arrived. Another pet peeve: one diner is finished with their meal and they come to clear dishes while the other person is still eating. Pop music, pops of black on the walls, TV screens behind and above the bar- so that almost every seat has a good view, a noticeable bar and those wood-slab walls. You know the look. The last time hubs and I were in this space was about 10 yrs ago, when it was Sammy's, so walking into Urban H. and getting hit with their urban-industrial-sports bar feel caught me a little off guard. No offense. Since hubs and I are getting settled into our other home in Westchester, dining out has been our friend. The young ladies here did well. From the moment we walked in until we headed out, everyone was pleasant, welcoming and attentive. We started with the calamari which was tender. Like really tender. Not a rubber band in sight. But where were the tentacles?! Those crispy little tangled things are half the reason hubs and I order calamari and sadly, there wasn't even one. Hubs went with a canned hard lemonade. It was refreshing but it was missing at least a little oomph especially if it's called "hard lemonade". My salmon dinner was beautifully prepared on parsnip puree with sautéed broccoli rabe and a pomegranate sauce. I totally get my dish was going for that savory/sweet mix- but that pomegranate sauce kind of sent my dinner slightly off keel for me. Hubs, loved his pork chop though with sautéed spinach and...white rice.¯\(ツ)/¯. We ordered the "mango" sorbet but it tasted more like lemon and it you had blindfolded me and asked me to tell you the flavor, mango would not have made my first guess. Honestly- Urban H. has more swagger than quiet, screens and a pop playlist that wants you to know it's there. But the service was super pleasant.
