The service department of Grubbs is unprofessional. Shelby Gibbs called and left me a message saying she "needed to discuss my car". I immediately called her back because I was concerned. It was actually just an ethically questionable tactic to get me on the phone to give her a five star review. She also offered me a $100 gift card to give her a five star review. I had no issues with my recent service, so I agreed. One week later, I reached out to see when I would get the gift card and heard nothing. Messages, calls, voicemails later, she finally told me her manager was working on it. And then, no response again. Still no updates weeks later. Maybe because she knew she promised something she shouldn't have...who knows. My last message to her expressed my frustration with being ignored. No response to that--shocker! At this point it was the principle--I did what she asked, and they didn't follow through and ignored my repeated inquiries. I also emailed the service manager, Mitchell Shutter, to express my frustration with being ignored--no response. That's even more offensive than Shelby not responding as he's in charge of the whole department. Mitchell, I hope you read this. I'm taking this as an easy lesson from the universe that I should never go back to Grubbs (even though I bought my car there) and get service at Volvo West Houston instead. Such a stupid way to lose a customer...they literally just need to acknowledge me. Take it on the chin--an important skill in customer service. This is my third Volvo, and this is my first bad experience with Volvo (Momentum and Austin Volvo were always great). I will note that the man who sold me the car, Bryan Passmore, is very nice and responsive. Maybe he should teach a remedial class for the service team. When I scheduled the appointment, it only gave me the option to wait at the dealership but Angel provided a ride share for me to go home and wait for my vehicle. BUYERS BEWARE -- FRAUDULENT & DECEPTIVE EXPERIENCE I'm writing this on behalf of my niece, J. Lomax, who had an incredibly frustrating and suspicious experience with Grubbs Volvo Central Houston. Jeanette purchased a vehicle out of state, and from the very beginning, the process was a mess. What was supposed to be a brand-new car with 15 miles on it showed up a week late, with thousands of miles already on it, scratches on the exterior, and incomplete or missing paperwork. The lack of communication from the dealership was alarming, and the service representative omitted critical details throughout the purchase process. To make matters worse, the very same day she drove the car, the check engine light came on, and the vehicle had to be towed to the nearest Volvo dealership. That wasn't the end of it. A week later, another engine code appeared, and the car had to be towed again and kept for nearly a week. When she attempted to complete a smog check (a requirement for out-of-state purchases), the car failed. She then went to the local DMV to get an extension on the temporary tag and was unable to do so due to missing paperwork. Jeanette contacted Grubbs Volvo, and they promised to overnight the paperwork--that was over a week ago. Still nothing. This entire situation is riddled with poor customer service, false promises, and borderline fraudulent behavior. It's highly suspicious and could fall under lemon law violations. This is not how you treat customers--especially those buying a vehicle sight unseen, trusting your brand and your word. If you're thinking of buying from Grubbs Volvo Central Houston, think twice.
