Saw this place pop up on my social media feed, was curious about their food, since I love brioche so much. I was there around 10:30-ish and there were 4 people before me and 2 came right after me, which means it's a popular spot, already feel positive. I ordered Manila, and it's so pretty! Just look at the color. Tons of flavors, but light. Lots of fresh & pickled veggies, nice gooey yolk, I love it when the warm yellow rich yolk slowly flow... and Philippine sausage, all in between my favorite buns -brioche!! There is street parking right in front, but it's often full so we parked down the road and walked. I got the grumpy, and my husband got the bacon egg and cheese. We both agreed this brioche bread was incredible. Extremely soft and rich. The scrambled eggs on my sandwich had an amazing texture. The whole thing was delicious. It was messy!!! But it was okay because it came in a paper wrap. My husband loved his bacon, egg, and cheese and agreed we need to come back!! The sandwiches are quite big, so while they are a little pricey for being breakfast sandwiches, I swear one sandwich keeps me feel through lunch. I feel like the Manila is unlike any other breakfast sandwich because it has longanisa sausage in there and has a delicious sweetness and saltiness. That being said, the service is a bit slow. This is not a quick in-and-out. The ambiance can vary since it's a food truck. I typically find them parked outside Roots Coffee on 300W, and in the months that the SLC Saturday farmers market is running, they are part of the food truck posse at Pioneer Park. These breakfast sandwiches rival the ones in Las Vegas IMO. The prices are a little high but they are that good, so I didn't feel bad paying a higher price. I got the Manila and I've never tasted anything like it. It was so good, I'm still thinking about it. Filipino longganisa and pickled papaya! Where else can you find that in a sandwich? The flavors all worked together too. The brioche bun was toasted and very soft. Everything was cooked well. The service is a little slow but there is only one guy doing it all and when we were there, there were at least 10+ orders in. I honestly don't know how he does it and keeps the quality up. He is the nicest guy too. We got drinks at the Roots Coffee shop and talked it was fine. There are 2 small tables next to the food truck. We were lucky to get one of them. The name "grumpy" is fitting since that's how I felt trying to get updates on my order and finally getting my order nearly an hour after ordering. I understand they were backed up but the sign said 20-25 min wait which was long but for it do be double that without a text update is completely unacceptable. It's a nice way to start the morning and it looks like he's found a permanent home attached to the roots coffee shop, which is great because I love their coffee but very often I have to go somewhere else because I needed to get something to eat with my coffee and they're offerings have been meager. This really has taken care of that problem. Now it's my go to. I go there for my coffee and order my breakfast at the grumpy dough truck parked right next to the coffee shop.
