The plate may have been hot, but the food was cold. The waiter attacked us for our drink order before we even sat down. We waited and waited for him to return to take our order. Seriously, I dont understand why everyone likes this place so much! I went while craving mexican food one night to get some takeout and since it was close to home, I figured, why the hell not? I saw on yelp all these positive reviews. Um, no. I had this burrito that was drowning in some watery sauce and soggy tortilla. It was filled with "grilled vegetables" which looked like they were nuked slugs. I couldnt even eat more than a few bites. The sopapillas were alright I guess but I work at a place that has the best fricken sopapillas ever so I am a little biased. Also, while I was waiting for my takeout order, I asked if they had a bar I could sit at and have a little drinky drinky. They said they didnt have a bar. WTF!? And they had a margarita list. And a beer list. Did they just have a keg in back? And make their margaritas in back? How does that work? Anyways, just drive a few extra minutes to la cueva. Much better and they actually have (gasp) a bar. read more

Yelpers, you've steered me wrong! I went here due to the positive reviews and I was sorely disappointed. The food was bland and lacked taste. Dumping 4 cups of salsa on our food didn't help. The salsa itself was just OK with just a little bit of spice. I don't see how you can call this anything close to authentic. The service was spotty. Sometimes it was very good, but at the end it got slooow. I decided to skip out on the sopapillas I was craving. I grew up on my family's authentic Mexican cooking, including those that live in Mexico. I say skip this place. The only thing I can say is that it wasn't terrible, so it still gets 2 stars. read more

If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would. The chips and salsa at this Mexican restaurant are really good. Usually this is an indication that the restaurant is going to have excellent food (based on my experience), but I've had both really great and mediocre meals here. The Salad Vallarta is my favorite dish on the menu. It's a big salad with a generous piece of grilled fish (tilapia maybe?), avocados, mangoes, and asparagus, with a citrusy dressing. Everything just tastes so fresh on the salad. On the flip-side, I've also had the chile rellenos, and let me tell you, I was not a fan. I guess I don't like chiles that are wrapped in a corn tortilla and fried, I prefer an actual batter. The servers are always very attentive, and this is also a great place to come during the afternoon because they have a pretty good lunch menu with very reasonable prices. read more

My sweetheart took me here for dinner. I must say, that I have had great Mexican food...homemade is the best...like someone's grandmother taught them, which is how I have learned to cook....stealing the secrets of friends who were taught first-hand. I am always dissapointed when I order a chicken dish and the chicken isn't simmered in cumin and chicken broth until it falls off the bone and is shredded with a fork I am greatly dissapointed.....well, I ordered the flautas here, and it was like Grandma would make them. The beans and rice were delicious too. And noted was the fact that there were hispanic families here too...always a good indication that the food is authentic. I have never tried Mole', but the next time I come here I think I will try the chicken mole'....I have the feeling it will be great ! read more

I tried Guadalajara at the recommendation of several Yelpers. i am sure glad I did! Good mexican food is something of a rarity in the Denver area, so I was very pleasantly surprised when we ate at this little gem. The portions are quite large, so go hungry or share entrees. I found that their chile relleno was fantastic--great crisp pepper, with perfectly cooked breading and the cheese on the inside was fantastic. I also enjoyed their enchilidas. My daughter liked the quesadillas and ate them all! I recomend Guadalajara. The staff is helpful and fun. read more

This place is freaking delish!!! Stayed at Best Western and was given a discount of 15%. We had some margaritas that were very good .. better than I've had in years! Got a decent buzz off 1 each! We ate the carne asada which tastes like a flavourful Ribeye steak.. and the shrimp enchiladas with creme sauce. Yum yum yummmmy! Chips and salsa were good but ive had better. The salsa bowl is tiny and frustrating to share with someone.... thats my only complaint. Saturday night at 8pm it was busy but not bad at all. No wait. Nice comfy booth. Great young waiter. Lots of hispanics eating here which is always a good sign that the mexican food is great .. and it was!! Coming from California I have been spoiled for years with the most amazing mexican and baja food. This place hit the spot and reminded me of home! 2 people ate off the dinner menu with large portions and each had top shelf margaritas and after the hotel discount it was right at $41. This is my favorite mexican place in the Aurora area, and I still have to drive about 20 minutes to get here. I have liked everything I have tried, and I really like their chili rellanos and the flavor of their mexican rice. It is similar to me to the flavor of 3 Margaritas/Las Margaritas if you have ever been there. The location in Parker was just as good, too bad it looks like that one closed. Their service is friendly and quick. I also like the colorful interior and chairs they have. Also if you ever get it to go they make their food quickly, if you go there and order you only have to wait about five minutes. read more

My husband and I decided to stop here on our way to DIA knowing nothing about it besides reading the Yelp reviews. We loved it, and will probably make it a regular stop on our way to the airport. The chips and salsa were great - the salsa was super fresh and tasty. I ordered the black bean soup as a light lunch only to be surprised by the biggest bowl of soup I have ever seen. It also came with a plate of toppings - cilantro, cheese, tomatoes, etc. - and tortillas, so it actually made quite a filling meal. The service was great even though we were there at an off hour. The first time I went to Guadalajara I was overwhelmed by the decor. The restaurant is bright and cheery and the chairs, holy cow, they are all carved and painted in bright, tropical themes like parrots. I was expecting a chain restaurant quality to the food, sometime like Chilis or Bennigans, but Mexican. Boy was I surprised. The food was fantastic. You wouldn't think to expect this quality of Mexican food behind a hotel on I225 and Mississippi. I have had something different every time I've gone here and it has always been a delightful experience. From the standard fare such as Fajitas and the Carne Asada, excellent. I've had the bacon wrapped prawns, delightful. The chicken with pipian sauce, made from pumpkin seeds, wow. Look for the bright yellow building, you won't be disappointed. read more

We like our little neighborhood Mexican chain restaurant quite a bit. You can always count on this place to get you in even on a busy weekend night. The service is almost too fast so if you want to linger over drinks and have appetizers this place might put you off. We go on lunch most of the time and it's quick and great food, lot's of choices all over the menu...I'd say this is semi-authentic Mexican food, given I am from Mexico and we don't smother things there like they do in U.S. My favorite meat is the shredded beef and it's always great! I've been coming here since I was in 5th grade. I am now a junior in college and I will remain to come here until they close. I get the same thing everytime; the expresso burrito. It is fantastic. Over the years, I believe the red sauce on it has changed somewhat, but the taste is still quite unbelievable. The portion is very good for the price you pay and the free chips and salsa are very good. One thing I would say they could improve is the consistency of good service throughout the restaurant. It is either hit or miss with some servers, however, a server named Wes has been my family and I's favorite by far. I'm from Phoenix & we're snobs about our Mexican food. As gringos who eat Mexican food 1-2 times per week, I hate to admit this was some of the best Mexican food I've had in a really long time. Chips & salsa were great. I had seafood enchiladas that were delicious. The beans were wonderful! The parking lot was full for a Sun. night & there were a lot of Hispanics eating there which was a very good sign of authentic food. The service was excellent. Ultra-authentic, super staff, best Mexican food we've ever had. Even vs food IN Mexico! They have many awards from the local paper. This is pretty much my (and my husband's) favorite restaurant. Of any type of cuisine, not just Mexican food. We really like Mexican food, lol. We have lived in Aurora for only about 2.5 years, but this is where we dine 90% of the time when we dine out. We have never EVER had anything we didn't like or was in any way inauthentic. If anything, this place is SUPER authentic, right down to the multitude of seafood dishes (not my bag, but that's OK), menudo, and about 100 different types/ flavors of high-quality margaritas. I'd also like to share that the management and waitstaff are extremely pleasant, polite, and organized. Even the young ladies who work as hostesses up front are just adorable and friendly. It's true that sometimes one will have a server whose English is a tad soft, but A) I speak enough Spanish both place my order AND exchange pleasantries, and B) All I care about in a server is a good attitude and good service. Seriously, chips and salsa and drinks are replenished faster than you can use them! The food is just perfect. It's always VERY hot, fresh, and amazingly delicious. And you get it within what seems to be 5-10 minutes. And I don't think they make too much ahead, aside from rice, beans, coleslaw, you know, the things that accompany all entrees and need to be in bulk. The prices are very low/of excellent value. We' ve had meals where we shared a small appetizer (guac/queso, or a half nachos order, etc), each had an entree, and shared a dessert, and the bill will be less than $25, which I just don't see in almost all other places we dine. You can afford to eat here quite often! I can't say enough nice things about this place. It is in a somewhat hidden location, but it's easily found (just go past that Sonic on Abilene!), and once you do find it and stop in, you will never need to locate another Mexican restaurant within the city of Aurora. They also do takeout perfectly, even including utensils, napkins, and plenty of salsa to go with the free chips :) 3-4 times per month, my husband and I look at each other and simply say "Guada?". This is a great place for Mexican food. The staff is very friendly and even when they seem really busy we are always seated right away. This my third visit to Guadalajara. My first time was great, everything was very fresh and tasty, the second visit was a complete 180, in which everything was horrible. So tonight I was having a major craving for fajitas, so I decided to give Guadalajara another shot. I ordered chicken nachos for an appetizer first, the chicken on the nachos was unseasoned and had that weird nasty boiled flavor. So we sit down and do the usual of looking at the menu, we order our food now the chips and salsa are some of the best i've had in Colorado. now the bad parts, there was a crying baby for over 20 minutes c'mon people I know you want to bring your kids out but a baby crying for more than 5 minutes bring them outside. Typical Mexican Restaurant. The corn chips were fresh and warm, the salsa was homemade and tasty! I had the 3 Fish Tacos (was disappointed I couldn't get variety) with beans and rice (standard fare) the Tacos were excellent!!
