I give horrible restaurants 2 stars if and only if I don't get food poisoning. We got the queso, tacos, enchiladas and chili relleno. The queso was melted velveeta cheese for $10. Huge selection of food so it took forever to decided what to get, I ended up getting a burrito that was filled full of extremely tender chunks of pork, rice and beans and I paid the extra to have them smother it in green chili and cheese. Whoa boy...lemme tell you. Even for people that know nothing about mexican food you would shake your head. I have never, ever...EVER seen celery used in green chili. Right there tells you that this place needs help. I ordered a chimichanga and the tortilla that was not covered in what I'm going to call avacado green paste with an overwhelming raw onion flavor was just so very greasy with no crispness to it at all. They set a tomato slice on the top for what I can only imagine was garnish and covered it in the avacado green paste and some sour cream. I dug in only to find big chunks of bell pepper and big chunks of chicken. This restaurant used to be good...very good in fact and they need to get their head cook back. Badly. read more

Went here for lunch with my family. Arroz con pollo might as well be renamed Arroz con Green Pepper, the dish was swimming in green pepper. Way too much green pepper. As for the pollo (chicken), it was dry and hard, possibly left over from the day before? The only thing good on the plate was the rice. Will not be returning, food isn't fresh or good. $15 for the tacos al pastor plate and what i got was sloppy soft tacos dripping in red chile sauce. They dipped pork soft tacos into red chile then crammed in some onion and cilantro. First time I had to eat "tacos" with a fork. Didn't even serve with lime. Beans and rice were edible but it's hard to mess up on that. They might have other options that are better but I won't be finding out. read more

If you have never tried the Arroz con Pollo you have missed a huge treat. This is truly a traditional Mexican dish and is served perfectly at Guadalajara. There is so much in one serving that I always take half of it home for dinner the next night. Wonderful flavors - not too much rice, tons of chicken, green peppers and onions and huge slices of fresh avocado. (Best with salt and lime juice squeezed over them). I have also tried the Enchiladas Suisas and found them to be equally as good. Prices are reasonable and the service is always excellent. Love the colorful decor, too. read more

Very good meal! The menu was vast and the portions were very generous. The chips and salsa were good and plentiful and the Cadilac Margarita is a must! I had the Chile Relano and it was very good. I grew up in Southern California where there are many great authentic Mexican restaurants. After moving here last year, I have tried several restaurants in search of good Mexican food. This is the first place that comes close. I especially like the refried beans and the chips and salsa. We have dined here at least 10 times and have always received excellent service and the prices are very reasonable. This is our first choice when eating Mexican food close to home. The service is always ridiculously good. In fact, you may want to take your time ordering the food as it will be out at your table in less than 10 minutes. I understand they have similar looks and menus to 3 Margaritas and other Guadalajara locations, but this one is consistently great. I think they have the best Mole sauce out of any place I have tried. Also the beans are excellent and the chile verde is outstanding. The wait staff is extremely friendly! The portions are huge, which evens out for the price. The menu is quite large. The Camarones Mexicanos was tasty, but not spectacular. The chips and salsa is free, which is nice, but the salsa tastes like tomato juice and has no kick. Ordered the sopapillas for desert. I went out of my way to come here based on a friends recommendation and I am glad I discovered this place. We had the Chilis Rieno and the Combo Fajitas and everything was very good. The staff here is so friendly and nice! The salsa was very cilantro but it was it was still good. The queso was okay unless you mixed it with the salsa then it was good. My family and i "were" very regular guest at this restaurant for the past 15 years! That all ended Saturday night! Went in with my son, he gets the same thing everytime espresso burrito. I tried something new "their most popular burrito" the Deluxe! Shredded chicken & Smothered in green chili. Since Sunday AM i have been on the toilet and throwing up. Now i have a bad fever! Something was not done right. Definately food borne illness. I did the right thing and called the owner Miguel. He could care less of my situation, very sad that he doesn't know how to handle a call like this. I usually NEVER WRITE A BAD REVIEW esp on a small biz. But after this they leave me no choice. I have missed 2 days of work and still feel horible. I believe it was the shredded chicken because he told me they dont sell much chicken . I guess it should not be part of their most"Most popular burrito" then!? They have now lost a very long time and loyal guest. I will take my Mexican food nights to Real de Minas from now on!!! This place lost all my families business forever. Miguel, take management 101 & learn the basics at least. This is the reason you guys are not as packed as you used to be on Friday and Sat nights. This place is amazing, can't decide which is better the food or the great service..I would definitely come back again and again. They were supposed to be closing at the time we came and we expecting slow service but that was not the case. Our server was fabulous, he was friendly and professional. I've been here a few times and the food was good. Service was okay. Last night I ordered our food to go. I ordered the chili relleno with the red sauce because the red sauce contains no meat. I get the food home from my husband, with no hesitation I start eat and noticed there is pork throughout my food. I did not get upset because I know that mistakes happen. Later on that night I became extremely ill. I decided I would call the restaurant the following morning let them know and have the meal replaced, I make the call and The customer service was not what I expected at all. The manager his demeanor was as if I was lying I told him I could bring the food back he agreed. I bring the food back they complete an inspection of the food like I was either lying or something weird. They finally decide to replace the food no apologies I asked if I can have a bag of chips and some salsa what you typically would get when you order food we receive that last night. They charged me six dollars for a bag of chips now forgive me if I am wrong for expecting the chips to be comp'd due to the inconvenience. Mind you I live nowhere close to this place. It was like I paid for the chili relleno all over again. I am very disappointed and I expected more customer service considering the situation. Customer service is extinct these days. read more

We moved here about 5 years ago and accidentally discovered this place. We've been regulars since, but I have to say that in the last year it has really declined. Both the service and food have taken a big dip which is very depressing. The owners apparently have several others in the metro area, so hopefully things will improve. I love this place! We've never had a wait whether its Friday night or Sunday night. The staff is always extremely prompt bringing chips and salsa to the table and the chips are always warm and the salsa has just enough spice. Their guacamole is delicious and their original margarita is one of my very favorites. My past favorite mexican restaurants have been Bennys and Doras but Guadalajara has surpassed them both to become my favorite. My husband and I always get the fajitas and they are soooo good. Went here today with some friends from work for lunch. I only work in Aurora so am not too familiar with all the places to eat around my area so trekked a bit and upon walking in definitely reminds one of 3 Margaritas...not sure why the décor is so similar?? Anyways I was told the chili rellanoes were the bomb and these babies are my FAVORITE Mexican treat! Took a bit to get served but got the rellano plate was hot and huge. As I have had many rellanoes in my life I have to say this one was pretty good and the prices very very affordable. Was cheaper than the strip mall place we hit last week and it was definitely one to try. The salsa was pretty good as well. Very cilantro tasting! Will go back again for a lunch soon. The only downfall was the service was subpar and they weren't extremely busy but the food spoke for itself! I wasn't wild about the guacamole but to be honest there was so much food I barely ate any as there was no more room in the inn!!! I recommend to give it a try if you are in the area! read more

OK, I'm mexican (gasp, and i speak engrish!) growing up and eating at relatives houses so for a LONG time I have cringed when eating out at mexican restaurants, because they're mostly tex-mex and smothered with chile sauce that bad cooks use to cover up mediocre ingredients and preparation. So discovering Guadalajara's was a godsend. Do they do everything to perfection? The answer would be "no", but they do most of the things I remember eating VERY well, they could improve their beans and most people misunderstand the chips and "salsa" they serve to start things out, it's NOT salsa. it's chile meant to be spooned onto your food to flavor it with heat the way you like, because most mexican family food is not doused in chile - there was always a small bowl of freshly prepared chile on the table at grandma's. I dont think I actually ate what people call "salsa" until my twenties. You can (and should) ask for some pico de gallo (made there) if you want something closer to salsa. I'd recommend something, but I dont have a specific favorite - they do beef very well and their albondigas soup is always good. If you have a problem with every dish in a mexican restaurant being spiced, then go here. read more

I've been here twice and loved it each time. The first time I had the chicken pipian, which was a delicious mole-like pepita sauce. The second time I went a different route, and got the chicken mole :). Both dishes were delicious and not at all greasy like many Mexican places. I even enjoyed the rice, beans and coleslaw, which usually isn't the case. The topper of it all were the delicious margaritas, I got the "Original", which was definitely worth the extra $3 over the regular.
