A Tucson staple! I have been wanting to try this location since i saw it coming along, but have been out traveling the country. My mom and I decided on alittle Mexican food for the 4th of July. American I know ;) Glad we did, although the location was very quiet it was a great experience. I have been to the other locations many times before, so I know where I usually land on the menu. We both got the Plato Pancho Villa, a good serving of meat, a chicken enchiladas and a chile Relleno. Rice and beans on the side! This was a lot of food, and it was all delicious! Tableside Salsa was great! Service was excellent My only two complaints are, this location is definitely not a spacious as the other locations, but this is definitely a spot for quick lunch bite. Secondly - the chicken meat in the enchiladas, was giving me Tinga Chicken Vibes, and I Perfer a simple simple in my enchiladas or just cheese. We really enjoyed our first time here so my son and I decided that we would return and I had to say we were very disappointed most likely won't be back. They didn't seem very busy, although there was one large table of about 10 people. The host is status and I want to say we waited a good 10 minutes before somebody dropped off chips and then it was almost another 10 minutes before they came back to opera salsa or guacamole. Right after we had guacamole made our server took our order. Kid's quesadilla and breakfast burrito. I took a picture of my child with our guacamole at 12:42 after the server took our order. We didn't see her again until she came out with our food about 1:15 At that point we were so for chips and guac that we took a few bites and waited around until she finally came back so we can ask for the boxes. Which was another 15-20 minutes later. She immediately handed me the handheld bill payment for the food in which she already selected 20% tip. Telling us how it's very busy and there's only two servers working and she didn't have time to take care of us properly. She refused to allow me to hold onto the handheld device until I finally just reached over and took it so I can make the payment because I was sitting on the inside of the table and I went to go adjust the tip and she got snippy in started making a bunch of sounds. Amazing salsa & guacamole. I have eaten Mexican food all over the Southwest. I could not get enough of the salsa and guacamole. It was amazing. So many layers of flavors and textures. We ordered a late breakfast but next time we will order tradicional Mexican entrees to see what they can do with the rest of their menu. Ana was our waitress. My husband and I were visiting the area from out of state and decided to give this place a try on a Tuesday night. So glad we did. The service from the start was over the top. Table side salsa and guac were some of the best we have had. Victoria was our server and was so helpful. She made great recommendations. Our drinks were always full. The food was great. Very nice warm place with nice decor and lots of tables. We came in as a big group. Alex was our wonderful sever. We had a few tacos and burritos. I got a new thing fancy Macojeta Mariscos. Which came out in a hot clay pot and Alex pulled the sauce into the pot. It was super hot and steamy. I love the seafood: scallops,shrimps, and fish. Very tasty and not overly seasoned. Loved it. My first visit to Guadalajara's Grill on Kolb Rd in Tucson was, to put it mildly, a bit of a mixed bag. Pulling into the parking lot during what should've been a busy lunch hour, I genuinely thought the place might be closed--hardly any cars in sight. After a moment of confusion, it became clear the main entrance is tucked away toward the rear. Walking in, though, is a completely different story. The interior is visually striking--ornate woodwork, vibrant décor, traditional accents, and a massive, eye-catching bar anchoring the center of the restaurant. It's the kind of place designed to impress at first glance, especially for those less familiar with more authentic, hole-in-the-wall Mexican spots. You've seen one of these polished, atmosphere-forward Mexican restaurants, you've seen them all. We were greeted and seated in a booth without issue. Our server promptly arrived, poured water, and took drink orders. Then came the signature touch--the "salsa lady." True to the name, she rolls up with a cart of fresh ingredients and a stone molcajete, asking your heat preference before grinding everything tableside. It's a nice theatrical element, and the salsa itself is fresh, but it felt incomplete--lacking salt and pepper, which, oddly, weren't on the table. To make matters more underwhelming, you get one small bowl and that's it. The menu is straightforward, leaning heavily toward familiar, Americanized Mexican dishes. Not much there for someone seeking bold or traditional flavors--it's clearly curated for a specific, less adventurous crowd. I opted for the Torta Tuesday special. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, though the presentation took a hit when the server accidentally spilled the crinkle-cut fries directly onto the table while setting the plate down. Yes--French fries. With a carne asada torta. That alone was a curveball. That said, the torta itself was warm, flavorful, and enjoyable overall. The bread had a nice texture, and the carne asada was decent. However, the portion size felt small for the price point. What really stood out--and not in a good way--was the pricing structure: they offer multiple meat options for tortas, but each comes with an additional charge. Charging extra for carne asada...on a carne asada torta? That's a head-scratcher. Restrooms were serviceable but nothing to write home about--earning a solid C on the Luis Scale. Clean enough, but definitely room for improvement. At the end of the day, unless you're stopping in specifically for margaritas and ambiance, this spot doesn't quite deliver where it counts. Style over substance seems to be the theme here. I won't be returning. On to the next. And hey--don't forget to tip your servers. read more

We went to this restaurant yesterday Sunday and the 4 of us sat in the bar. It was Fathers Day so we were patient with service. We were shocked at the high prices for everything on the menu but went ahead and ordered. Our steak fajitas were a very tough cut of meat and had to ask for tortillas that should have been delivered with the dish. We asked for more water that never came. Other dishes were just average but expensive. I won't return even if service were better on another day. Food was just ehh and expensive. I honestly did not have a high expectation since I had been to another location before and I was not impressed. Since they opened in West Valencia, where there are a few very good Mexican restaurants in the area, I was thinking their quality would be better, given the fact they have to compete with those nearby but it wasn't the case. Although their chile verde was descent, their refried beans were bland. Also ordered fried cauliflower with Spanish aioli sauce, which also didn't have any flavor. We dipped the cauliflower in the table-side salsa just we could add some flavor. (Table-side salsa was great) To end on a positive note, our server was nice and friendly. Smallest of the 3 locations of Guadalajara that I've been to. The food was good and the service could have been better. There were several times where our server walked away and folks were trying to flag him down to place orders. We had a large party so we had to put a deposit down of $150, but when we showed up and ordered food it should have been taken off. We spent well beyond the $150 but we had to ask our server to take it off after the check was dropped off. Gratuity was added on top also which I'm fine with, but weird the deposit didn't come off. read more

I was a bit tentative about coming to this location due to some yelper's reviews; however, I was very pleased with our meal. Straight away, a lady came to make "made to order salsa" at our table and fresh guacamole. Since there was 6 people, we got two salsas. Delicious. The guacamole, outstanding. Lunch specials run until 3:00. I had a grilled shrimp salad. Nice flavors, but the shrimp were small. The salad was fresh but I felt it was overpriced. What is more, it came with a little bowl of "cilantro cream vinaigrette". I love vinegar, but it was too strong for my taste. My gf had a beef taco plate. She said it was decent. Everyone else seemed happy with their meals. Then one of my friends ordered fried ice cream. He said it was really good. Overall, I would certainly return and probably try the lunch specials. If you are Plant-Based, do not go here! There is genuinely nothing you can eat in this restaurant if you are plant-based. They cook 95 percent of their dishes in butter. I did order an Impossible Meat burrito, and the Impossible Meat was barely cooked. It was inedible. My wife's dish of vegetables looked like it was poured out of a can and then doused with too much olive oil. We will never go back. read more

Our children live out of the area and every time they come to visit us in Tucson, AZ one of the first things they want to do is go to dinner at Guadalajara Restaurants. We have been to most of the Guadalajara's in Tucson, but our favorite one is the West Valencia location. We always ask to be seated with our favorite waiter named Felix. When I told my server she offered to get me another and I said no as I just wasn't hungry anymore. We went there about 1 year ago. The food was wonderful. My husband had Lobster stuffed Salmon and I had the Lobster enchiladas. We both shared a virgin PinaColada that was just as good as a stand in for a dessert. However we just went a few days ago to celebrate my current Birthday. This time on Valencia, the food we ordered came cold. I ordered the Mole chicken. I had heard great things about the Mole Sauce. It was much too sweet for my taste even being aware that they use Chocolate as a standard ingredient. The mix of flavors tasted like they were not balanced. It was so nice that they sang happy birthday and gave me a sponge cake with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce drizzled on the plate. The only problem was that the sponge cake tasted like it was a week old left out on the open air. The service was good but for the $ that we paid altogether, It was not worth it! Our server handled everything and everyone with true professionalism. The tableside salsa was amazing as always. I ordered the enchiladas Marineras which was new on the menu. Overall I wasn't impressed with my meal choice. It was fine but nothing special. The shrimp was advertised as lemon pepper, I didn't taste any seasoning on it at all. The fish and lobster enchiladas were better, but still I felt they needed more love. The portions are huge and everyone seemed happy with their food and drinks.
