I hadn't had Guida's since they closed down in Penfield... and I have come home to the promised land. I took a new job in the west side and my coworkers typically order from Guida's in Gates. Having tried their delicious pIzza in the office, I ventured over to Elmwood to check them out for myself... and it is fantastic! A large selection of lunchtime slices including thin crust wood fired, white pizza, Detroit thick crust and Grandma's pizza. All have generous toppings and are baked to perfection. The dining area is very nice and always tidy. Above average for a busy storefront pizza joint and I love the staff. Always a smile and a kind greeting. Watch the steady stream of huge slices and happy customers heading out the door at lunch time and you will know you're at the right place. My favorite in the west side. read more

My go to pizza spot almost every weekend! A friend recommended this place and after I tried it once, I haven't gone elsewhere. Everything from the shape of the pizza (square pieces), to the perfectly cooked crust (not too thin and no too thick) and delicious sauce (sweet with the perfect subtle tang), it just doesn't get much better than this. It's consistent, they're friendly, they have an easy online ordering system and it's just all round good pizza. The wings are delicious too, especially with their sweet chili sauce. Ordered here on a Friday night and my bf picked it up in 35 minutes. It was just a large pepperoni pizza and they messed it up. The back 4 slices were folded over onto each other and inedible. The rest of the pizza was undercooked so we put it in the oven. When I called guidas they offered to re-make it, but we couldn't wait another hour to eat. I'm new to the area and decided to try a new pizza place for each Bills game. Guida's was recommended by fellow pizza lovers on a pizza Facebook group. The pizza was an 8/10 (would have loved more of a cup char pepperoni, that would have made it a 10/10) the crust and sauce were phenomenal. But the reason I'm giving 5 stars is due to the customer service. I called prior to the shop opening and a friendly gentleman answered. I wanted to get a pizza right before the Bills game so I didn't miss kickoff and he said he would get started on the pizza right away even though they weren't opening for another hour and to just call him and he would open the door for me! I thought that was awesome and he definitely went above and beyond. I wish I would have gotten his name. He made a great pizza! I will definitely go back! read more

Awful. Just awful. Thin, undercooked, greasey and lacking any real flavor. Am I being over critical? I don't know, you tell me if attempting to eat the pizza with a fork and knife because it is so thin and greasey you can't pick it up is being over critical.....apparently my knife also didn't like it because it didn't want to even cut the pizza....that or it was so greasy and undercooked that the slice would just slide around with no structure so effectively cutting it was impossible. Guida's is actually a very good pizza place. They used to really push the fact that they have "gourmet" pizza... I'm not entirely sure what gourmet means even as a 33yo adult, but I have always thought Guida's has tasted better than most places in Rochester. They have since stopped pushing that they have gourmet pizza. I used to order it occasionally as a teen, when I lived in East Irondequoit. I say occasionally because back then it was one of the most expensive pizzas in town. Today the price is more competitive. Even back then I could taste the better quality of Guida's. The food at the gates location taste pretty much the same as the east Irondequoit location. Which is nice because usually when local pizza places start to grow and open up other locations..the food begins to suffer and you just never no what will you get at each location. While they have really good pizza, they also have really good subs. I have tried a few of their subs, but there is one sub they offer that is my favorite. It's the "famous Schwartzkoff". A sub I used to get as a teen often from their east Irondequoit location..and it taste just as good as it did back in the late 90s, early 2000s. It's so simple but so good..breaded chicken, Swiss cheese, ham, lettuce, mayo, and a sweet n sour sauce that doesn't taste like the 2 big brands of sauce Roc is known for.(country sweet, boss sauce). Not sure if it is homemade or a different brand..but it definitely brings it all together. Man if there is one thing to try at Guida's it's the famous Schwartzkoff Sub. Lastly I'd like to say they do a rewards program called Guido bucks. Where you get like 1 dollar with every order, and when you collect 10 of them you get a free large cheese pizza. This is nice but one thing I wish they would change is how you aquire the Guido bucks. There has been times when I have ordered 10 bucks worth of food and got a "buck". There has also been times when I have ordered over 4x that amount of food and still got just one buck...kinda lame. We decided to try this Gates location because we have tried the Webster location in the past . I do not recommend patronizing this location for the following reasons: I had a group of guys over to watch the NCAA tournament and they screwed up the food order . Counter help immature , distracted and uninformed about menu sauces . Didn't listen to order. I Felt it would get f'd up but waited the 45 mins anyways , got the order home and of course it was wrong . They sent a very nice delivery person an hour later and he apologized but the night was wrecked anyway . Food that we got was tasteful but the young girls at the counter should be attentive to the customer instead of being on their phone and talking to one another when an order is being taken . read more

If your guarden is overguown with gueeds, then you need a Guida. Guidas are basically guys that come over and de-gueed your guarden. So guan and hire guone before gueeds take over your guass. What to get: A slice, any slice. What not to get: $100 because you're too honest. I like the other Guida's better. I turned and looked around the lobby and started taking pix, and then I noticed something glinting on a table. I wandered over, and to my amazement, it was a $100 bill! You should definitely come here with the "Guise". If you bring "Guidettes" they might not be too impressed since it's really just massive slices. But then if your Guidette is into that kind of thing then go for it you guise. Like I said in my check-in, I think I'm a bad capitalist, because I gave the $100 bill to the owner. And this pizza isn't Italian by the way. It's from Guidamala. They only had 2 different types of pizza, whereas the one in Penfield had about 10 different options. So I plumped (hint, I'm going to get plump if I keep eating pizza) for a Cheese & Pep slice. It was under $4. I think he shorted me on the change which was ironic. I only got a 5 and some change back out of a 10. Lol. Oh well. What's a dollar between friends. What's a hundred dollars between friends. I don't think he did it on purpose, he was just a little frazzled. I don't care. Whatever. If you're French and they ask you if you want a slice, just say "Gui, merci!" The pizza slice was so large that it had to be cut in half. That's a Guida's thing. So basically you get two slices for the price of one. I had half of the slice, and gave the other half to my pizza-obsessed friend. We both really enjoyed it and finished every bite. It was at least twice as good, slippery and wet as the slice we got from Perri's around the corner a little earlier. So full marks for the pizza, especially the yummy wood-fired doughy taste, and how wet it was, but without being too overly greasy. People seem to like the PS2 and the XBox but I like the "Guii" better. Because you can jump around. Pack it up, pack it in. Let me begin. Guida's is definitely one of the best local chains in Rochester, and makes one of the top 10 slices in the region. Their Penfield location is probably in the top 5 along with Pizza Stop downtown, Joe's Brooklyn in Henrietta, Carmine's, and I can't remember what the other one I love is. Waited over an hour for a pizza that was too thick and doughy. The bottom of the pizza was hard & difficult to actually chew through. We literally nibbled off the toppings , given how hard it was to try and eat the bottom. Why would any place make a pizza that was so hard to eat? Why would they make it so thick when I ordered it thin? I definately won't recommend a place that can't get a simple order right. The elderly prefer food that isn't so rough on the system. My husband and I have had the Guida's Pizza in Webster but this is my first time having it out on the West side. The pizza was great! We went with classic cheese and pepperoni. I don't know if we requested the pizza being cut into triangles "pie sliced" but I am so glad it came that way because I HATE square cuts. (Call me crazy but I think pie cut tastes better than square cut.) We also had 2 kinds of wings: buffalo and a sweet and sour. Personally, I like my wings a little more crispy, but they were still ok. I like that the wings came in a cardboard box vs the typical styrofoam container. (I'm no tree hugger but I hate all that no biodegradable styrofoam.) I'm not sure what the cost was for the good because my husband paid and I forgot to ask. I got 2 slices from this place and let me tell you, it was about a 1/4 of a large round pizza. It had a lot of pepperoni and I thought the sauce was the best part of it. Very spicy and flavorful. I really liked it. I would prefer cupped pepperoni but this was the big slices of pepperoni and wasn't bad. I thought the crust was on the bready side. The pizza here at Guida's is actually quite impressive. It isn't to hard, nor is it burnt or tasteless, but it has great flavor and its appearance looks delectable! If you want a huge pizza, I would recommend the New York style thin crust as the slices are cut into large squares, perfect for parties, complete with an actual authentic taste which makes Guida's stand out in this area. I usually order out from here so I can't judge too much on the service as my order was messed up once but it was corrected when I arrived so no harm was done. With so many pizza establishments around this area, I was happy to see that Guida's was able to please me well enough for me to come back. Check it out if you see it around the Gates area. So Friday night I order pizza for my family and call while I'm out and about and they give me a pick-up time of 40-45 mins, no problem. assuming they are busy since it's a Friday night, I show up 45 after I ordered. I pay for my order, leave a tip and wait for my pizza to come out. After watching the cashier and the pizza cook scramble around looking for my order, I realize that they completely forgot to make my two pizzas. They pursue to make the pizza and put it in the oven, not saying a word to me about the mistake. 20 mins later I'm still waiting for the pizza and the cook tells me the ovens are "roaring" and it will be right out. Couple mins later I'm handed my pizzas with no apology, no thank you, no anything. I understand people make mistakes, but own it and be friendly and open about the screw up. Food was decent, the reason I'm leaving two stars is because when i ordered for dine in, the credit card system they use has an automatic tip suggestion pop up. I clarified with the cashier whether given we were dine in they would be bringing the food out, she said yea, so I gave her a 20% tip. Lo and behold the cashier did nothing, the guys making the food called out my name, I had to pick up my food and clean up after myself. I'm annoyed because the cashier more or less didn't say anything when the tip functionality came up, I clarified with her because having been a server before and served people food I know what it's like to make nothing and rely on tips, and she essentially lied to me that she would be doing any work other than taking an order to get a tip. I'd rather tip the guys making the food than a cashier who lies. A shame they hire dishonest cashiers but nice people who make pizza and care about the food but not the cashiers. read more

First off, it's Super Bowl XLV1, so I understand how it can get quite busy. So that's why I ordered 2 hours in advance and told the person answering the phone that, rather than including my tip to my order, I would tip according to A) promised delivery time (+/-) 30 minutes. I think that's fair. The delivery arrived 60 minutes after the plus side. B) Accuracy of the order; I ordered "Thin crispy crust, pepperoni with 1/2 onions and the other half with black olives and mushrooms. The pizza came with hot peppers on the whole pizza, overcooked, and warm and the abundant amount of peppers ruined the taste of the whole pizza. Regardless, I tipped the driver $8. It's not his fault. I must add that I used to deliver pizza for Harry's Pizza in Cheyenne WY when I was 16. I later turned into a cook, cuz I sucked as a delivery driver. By 17 I became the assistant manager. Another position that I was not very good at. I had no idea how to "manage" other employees. Since then I've enjoyed designing printed circuit boards for a global space aeronautical systems design company. I'm actually very good at it and have learned to appreciate the managers role in providing the necessary "grease" to keep his/her subordinates motivated. I'm soon to retire and am actually thinking about pursuing a position as a small pizza type manager. Hmm. Have to think about that. read more

TL; DR - Would be a 5 star if the customer service didn't reek. They dont get the order right and then they are rude about it and don't keep their word. I ordered a $75 bill for delivery on Good Friday and they royally messed up my order. I wanted boneless and I got bone in, and they completely forgot the pasta salad in my order. I love Guidas and their food but what really made me tick was that that evening my boyfriend called about the wrong order and they agreed to give us a credit for our next order. So we called this evening and when we asked for delivery and mentioned the credit, the guy on the phone suddenly got squirrelly and says the boss doesnt want him delivering. I tried enquiring how today is different - we order once every two weeks and we tip the drivers 20% - and the guy on phone goes, "you're so far out, you were never in our delivery radius." Then hangs up. Great way to lose a faithful customer. Despite the good food we will go elsewhere now because that isn't how you treat people. read more

I used to love Guida's, especially when Fintan ran it. The food was always consistently awesome, probably a 4.5 every time. The last three times I went, I really wasn't too impressed. Tonight was probably the last straw. First of all, my phone call to place my order was absolutely perfect. The girl was chipper, friendly, professional, and efficient. It sounded scripted, but at least it was genuine. Sometimes you get those people who answer the phone like it's an inconvenience, but this was spot on. She was eager to tell me that Mark Guida was at the shop, and would be cooking our Schwarzkopf subs! She had me excited! However, when we opened up our subs, they were absolutely disgusting to look at. They were so soggy, and almost impossible to eat with your hands. They still tasted good, but were not enjoyable to eat. My girlfriend only ate the chicken and ham, with her fork nonetheless. When she called to complain, Mark Guida was a cocky jerk.
