Wanted to grab a quick lunch on the go, saw this pizza place in a small plaza. Lots of parking out front. Walking in the place was busy, figured that was a good sign that the food was good. I got a small pepperoni to go. Pizza was just ok, it was hot and the pepperoni was a good amount.., but it was just average. The flavors were just a bit bland for me.

Garlic bread was good plenty of garlic flavor

OK I'll never find a ray pizza place up here In New state . So I'll keep looking Guida's definitely isn't a rays pizza Clean restaurant Friendly order takers But we don't go just for this we go to taste the food. I got the sausage &peppers sub hero or whatever you like call it large garlic with mozzarella. My roommate got pizza logs and a large fries When our order was finally ready The only gave us part of the order (seem like they just wanted us out the door) if we didn't check my roommate would not have gotten his pizza logs or our fries . Maybe my 36 dollar order wasn't worthy. Lol At this point I got reminded of a saying from the movie lethal weapon (you always get f when u use the drive through) well now I guess u can say at the count too. My suggestion is this to my favorite readers on here Go to paradise Pizza in gates or PI CRAFT so far those have been the best pizza restaurants I've found in the gates area . vergognosa repubblica italiana

My go to pizza spot almost every weekend! A friend recommended this place and after I tried it once, I haven't gone elsewhere. Everything from the shape of the pizza (square pieces), to the perfectly cooked crust (not too thin and no too thick) and delicious sauce (sweet with the perfect subtle tang), it just doesn't get much better than this. It's consistent, they're friendly, they have an easy online ordering system and it's just all round good pizza. The wings are delicious too, especially with their sweet chili sauce. Also every time you order, you get a $1 coupon but once you get $10, you get a free large pizza. Pretty decent deal.

    Yuck.

Ordered here on a Friday night and my bf picked it up in 35 minutes. It was just a large pepperoni pizza and they messed it up. The back 4 slices were folded over onto each other and inedible. The rest of the pizza was undercooked so we put it in the oven. When I called guidas they offered to re-make it, but we couldn't wait another hour to eat. We were promised a free pizza coupon in the mail after I called and spoke to Rocco. Hope it's better the next time :/

I stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch. They had three kinds of pizza to choose from to buy. I was disappointed there weren't more slices like in past visits, but everything Is different with covid. I am sure they aren't getting as many customers as before. I decided my fair chicken. The slices are huge and filling. The staff were very nice and the restaurant very clean.

Greasy pizza, no tang in the sauce, undercooked

Awful. Just awful. Thin, undercooked, greasey and lacking any real flavor. Am I being over critical? I don't know, you tell me if attempting to eat the pizza with a fork and knife because it is so thin and greasey you can't pick it up is being over critical.....apparently my knife also didn't like it because it didn't want to even cut the pizza....that or it was so greasy and undercooked that the slice would just slide around with no structure so effectively cutting it was impossible. What a disappointment.

Famous Schwartzkoff seriously one of the best subs in the world.

Guida's is actually a very good pizza place. They used to really push the fact that they have "gourmet" pizza... I'm not entirely sure what gourmet means even as a 33yo adult, but I have always thought Guida's has tasted better than most places in Rochester. They have since stopped pushing that they have gourmet pizza. I used to order it occasionally as a teen, when I lived in East Irondequoit. I say occasionally because back then it was one of the most expensive pizzas in town. Today the price is more competitive. Even back then I could taste the better quality of Guida's. The food at the gates location taste pretty much the same as the east Irondequoit location. Which is nice because usually when local pizza places start to grow and open up other locations..the food begins to suffer and you just never no what will you get at each location. While they have really good pizza, they also have really good subs. I have tried a few of their subs, but there is one sub they offer that is my favorite. It's the "famous Schwartzkoff". A sub I used to get as a teen often from their east Irondequoit location..and it taste just as good as it did back in the late 90s, early 2000s. It's so simple but so good..breaded chicken, Swiss cheese, ham, lettuce, mayo, and a sweet n sour sauce that doesn't taste like the 2 big brands of sauce Roc is known for.(country sweet, boss sauce). Not sure if it is homemade or a different brand..but it definitely brings it all together. Man if there is one thing to try at Guida's it's the famous Schwartzkoff Sub. Lastly I'd like to say they do a rewards program called Guido bucks. Where you get like 1 dollar with every order, and when you collect 10 of them you get a free large cheese pizza. This is nice but one thing I wish they would change is how you aquire the Guido bucks. There has been times when I have ordered 10 bucks worth of food and got a "buck". There has also been times when I have ordered over 4x that amount of food and still got just one buck...kinda lame. I've been collecting these things for like 3 years now lol...I hope I don't lose them before I get a chance to cash them in. Like I did back in the early 2000s -_-

    Garlic Knots

The Best pizza in Rochester!! The Garlic Knots and Wings are amazing!! We order every Sat night for movie night in our family. We go to the one on Elmgrove road in Gates. The owner is so kind and they are consistent every week!

Of course, Monday nights are always difficult with so many restaurants closed but my wife used Yelp to see what was open nearby. Cristo's popped up. We weren't familiar with the restaurant (my sister in law indicated that a pizza restaurant had been in this location several years prior with good pizza but a bad attitude) but what the heck, we thought we would give it a try. Well, I can't say enough nice things about Cristo's. We thought we were going for pizza, what we ended up with was some of the best homemade pasta (almost all is homemade), gnocchi, and a wonderful chicken parm that was to die for. Loved the marinara sauce - clearly everything was homemade (including the bread). Pleasant environment. Not loud, well laid out. Good selection of wines (too bad that we learned afterwards that there was no corkage fee on Mondays). Just a wonderful little restaurant with great service, superior food, and well-priced. Can't emphasize the latter enough with today's inflation. And the choices on the menu if you don't like pasta are also intriguing. Nightly steak choices (the filet mignon on a Monday night sounded wonderful but I just had to try the pasta). Wish we had something on the east side like this!

For my main course I ordered the rigatoni bolognese which was fantastic. The sauce was a lighter version of a traditional bolognese, but still packed with flavor. The only thing that kept me from giving this establishment 5 stars was the martini I ordered. It was served in a cosmo glass but was filled about 1/3. Because the glass is cone shaped, the volume was certainly less than 1/4. The bar tender needs to up their game and learn how to serve a martini. Charging $16.50,for what amounted to a short shot, is almost criminal. I would definitely go back. But next time, I'm ordering a bottle of wine in lieu of a cocktail.

We came here to celebrate my son's birthday and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We ordered the bruschetta, seafood sauté, and fettuccini Alfredo, and the whole family loved every dish. For dessert, my son got a cheesecake for his birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch and really made the night special. Our waiter was warm, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the meal. This isn't fine dining, and that's exactly the point. It feels like sitting down for dinner at grandma's house. Two of our salads had large chunks of core and the bread was cold with hard butter packets. The dinners were solid but nothing special. It was a little annoying that the only way they could honor our reservation was to stick us at a small booth in the loud bar area. The music blaring from the speaker over our table was fine but not really conducive to pleasant dining and certainly not what we would expect at an Italian restaurant. We had to raise our voices to be heard over the bar chatter. I think that we hit this place under some bad circumstances so I wouldn't write them off. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.
