    Calzone
    R B.

On October 28, 2023, I had to go to urgent care and was waiting there for over three hours to get care because I wasn't feeling well. Afterwards, I decided to get some fast food, so I won't have to cook after waiting so long at the urgent care. I decided to a pizza parlor named Guido's Pizza Parlor in Walden, N.Y. The first thing I noticed is that they're not Italians cooks, so was a little bit skeptical about the taste of the pizza, garlic knots and Calzone's flavor. I'm used to eating the pizza and everything else Italian from New York City, so I'm very choosy about where I eat these things. First and foremost, they took a long time to just warm up the food because the food wasn't just made. I didn't mind because I chose this place so had to wait. Then I was charged a higher price than expected. I finally got the food and went home without checking it, but I should've checked it before I left. I opened the garlic knots, when I got home, and they were so burnt on one side that had to cut the burnt part out and throw it out. The Calzone was also very burnt on one side that it was difficult for me to eat it. The taste was salty and not at all like the Italian pizza from a true Italian pizza parlor. The very next day I call Guido's and spoke to the owner, and I couldn't believe the response from him, instead of apologizing, he insulted me, telling me that I should've gone back the same day and let them see the burnt food. I told the owner I wasn't feeling well and was in the urgent care for over three hours, was extremely tired and he didn't care. Then he told me that I didn't buy it from their place because they don't burn food, that they are perfect. I was shocked. Who doesn't burn food when cooking? Where's the apology for the error, the sympathy for the customer. I told him, "I have the receipt" "I can send you the pictures" plus, no matter what, "The customer is always right". That's how you keep them coming back and spend their hard-earned money there. The owner was closed minded and just kept insulting me. If you want to get charged high prices for burnt food, no apology for getting the food burnt and in a bad condition then go to Guido's Pizza Parlor in Walden, N.Y. They lost a great customer with a business that could've give them lots of business. Shame on them! There's no place like New York City Pizza.

Amazing Garlic Knots, crunchy on the outside super soft on the inside and so much flavor

Amazing owners, always treat me like family when I go in. Delicious food especially the Buffalo Chicken pizza, White pizza and the to die for garlic knots.

Thin and crispy just the way I like it. Had a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni and both were terrific I'll definitely be back.

Terrible. Just horrible. I love their Buffalo chicken pizza, but I refuse to go there anymore. Worst customer service in the area.

Pizza should come with a bottle of tums. Last time I ate here had to undergo bariatric surgery for heartburn.

Everyone knows that good pizza can only be found In New York City and North Jersey. I discovered…read morethat it's allowed all the way up in Walden as well. My friend placed a pickup order and I brought home the special - Deal 2 (large pizza, baked ziti, large salad, garlic bread) plus a side of calamari to split. Asked around, got agreement to add sausage and eggplant toppings, plus we spiced it up (hot pepper, garlic, touch of pepper) before we left. Pizza: Thin crust, I could have eaten more than the 2.7 slices as we split the pie evenly among three people. Toppings are generous and taste great. Good sauce and the right balance with cheese. Baked ziti: Poor friends usually have this saved for next day. With me around, it wasn't gonna last. I indulged in this cheesy pasta goodness. Salad: OK, it's salad. We added balsamic vinagrette dressing but didn't check when we left and got a second French dressing instead. That's about the only flaw for Franco's, and that happens anywhere. Garlic bread came with some marinara. Drenched in sauce but still had a little crispness to it. If I wanted it extra crispy I could have pan-seared it, but at least it wasn't droopy. Calamari: Quite good. It had gotten a little cold by the time I was able to dive in, but if I ordered that fresh at the restaurant I bet it would be amazing hot out of the oven. For the short time I was inside, I looked around and it's a nice casual pizza joint, plenty of room to sit around, plenty of dine-ins, and a second room behind. So Franco's is a Walden joint I will recommend to all in town.

Cascarino's is the real deal, and I do not use that phrase lightly…read more We tried three things on this visit: the grandma pie, a classic regular slice, and a custom panzerotto. Let me start with that panzerotto, because it deserves its own paragraph. This is the kind of dish you would have to fly to Italy to find, and somehow Cascarino's is making it right here. It was the single best thing I ate, and I am still thinking about it. The grandma pie was phenomenal, perfectly crisp on the bottom, pillowy inside, with that beautiful golden crust that so few places actually nail. The regular pizza held its own too, with solid sauce, great cheese pull, and a crust that had real character. But what ties it all together is the ownership. This is a true owner-operated spot, and you feel it in every detail, the care in the kitchen, the warmth at the counter, the consistency in every bite. When the owner is on site, this place is firing on all cylinders. Five star service, no question. And order the rice ball, packed with cheese and meat and hotttt out of the oven. Cascarino's is, without a doubt, the best pizza and Italian food restaurant in the area. It is worth the drive. I have made it twice in two weeks and am already thinking about a third trip.

The pizza still has that solid NY-style crunch, good flavor, and plenty of topping options. Whether grabbing a quick slice or ordering from the full menu, the food is consistently well-prepared and hits the mark. What really stands out is the consistency. The owner clearly takes pride in the operation, the kitchen stays on point, and the staff keeps things moving. It's not easy to maintain quality over time, but Cascarino's has managed to do exactly that. Pizza Beast Verdict: Still one of the most reliable pizza spots in the area. Great slices, solid menu, and a place I keep coming back to for a reason. Rating: 5/5 Beast Slices

Parking was easy to find, and it's across the street from the actual brewery. There's a lot of land and I like that they had cornhole and a cute shop with local goods and merch. There's a mix of outdoor and indoor seating, and we sat indoors since it was chilly (it's dog friendly). There is a sizable food menu, so we ordered the kale caesar salad and the capocollo pizza. We also got a cider flight and hot cider (not spiked but you can get it spiked). I looooooved the food, it was so good! Our salad came out pretty quickly and our pizza came out a bit after we finished eating the salad (they bring it to your table). I wasn't a fan of the hard ciders, but I loved my hot cider. There's also two gender neutral restrooms available indoors, as well as a cute array of ciders and merch for sale. I would def recommend coming here!
