I work nearby and I decided to stop in for lunch on a Friday. They were busy but the food came out fast and hot. There are many places to sit either inside or out. I got three tacos - mole, bistec roja, and papas con chorizo. All three were delicious but my fav was the mole. It isn't offered everywhere and I was surprised it was really good. I also grabbed a pork tamale and Horchata, which were also really good. I would recommend this place if you're in the area they offer diff flavors than your usual taco spot. read more

So, I was in the area tonight and decided this was the place. I've been here before and have never been disappointed. The inside has allot of character; yet simplistic. I must say though it was so cold out and I walked into outside. It was just as cold inside. The service is good here, but not lively like some of the other locations. Very hum drum. Although can't be too lively working in a refrigerator...LMAO! Anyways, the real gem here is the food. I ordered the steak piccata tacos. Never disappoint. I'll start by saying I love Guisados in general and have been to three other locations, all of them great but this one wasn't great. I ordered a few tacos, one of them being papa con chorizo. As an employee was dropping them off, I noticed the papa chorizo taco looked vastly different from what I was used to at other locations so I asked, "Isn't this taco supposed to have chorizo?". As you can see in the picture, there is only potato on the taco. He said "it's mixed in" and I stated "it usually has way more chorizo than that.". I'm not sure why he would even say that as if I'm not looking at this thing with him, no chorizo in sight. He then walks away without saying anything. I wondered if he was coming back or what and eventually he did come back with another taco that has a *sprinkle" of chorizo (he never said anything else, just dropped the taco and left). Coming from universal studios, came to Guisados to have dinner, not too far from our hotel. I ordered the shrimp, fish, and quesadillas tacos. The shrimp was under seasoned, the fish was decent, needed hot sauce and tasted better after I added hot sauce. Real disappointed was the quesadillas. I thought the queso panela would be more melted but nope, just tasted like a thick block of cheese on my tortilla, should have tried the other vegetarian options. These are not your typical taco options. The tortillas are made in-house supposedly; a little thicker than normal corn tortillas and less gritty. The steak picado is filled with tender shredded flank meat with green serrano chile and black beans. Not spicy at all and most of the taste comes from the steak and black beans. The chuleta en chile verde has diced pork with the same sauce and black beans. I came here a few times and this place does not disappoint! I love every taco I've ever had, especially the bistek en salsa roja. The tacos are a bit different because they are guisados, or stewed meat type of tacos. Some of the tacos are spicy, which I LOVE. They offer amazing agua frescas to try as well. The service is great! We felt like some tacos and this place didn't disappoint. The tacos were a little unique in my opinion, they were not dry, but more saucy and stew like. The corn tortillas are a bit thicker to hold up to the sauciness. The tortillas are warm with a thin spread of mashed black beans and topped with the meat or vegetarian topping of your choice. If you can't decide, they have a sampler plate of 6 tacos that are a bit smaller. Our sampler plate of tacos consisted of: Steak Picado, Bistek en Salsa Rona, Chicken Tinga, Chicken Mole Pablano, Pork Conchinita de Pibil, And Chicken Chuleta en Chile Verde. All the tacos we had were very tasty and delicious. We also had Horchata and Jamaica drinks, so good! I wanted to try Guisados for years since I saw their DTLA location inside the cool Spring Arcade. I love street tacos and their menu looked very appealing to me. I knew they had a location close to me in Burbank, so I thought it'd be nice to try something new during the pandemic, bring some excitement to our lives! Guisados is located on San Fernando Rd. closed for traffic right now since they created and area with tables for restaurants around to have more al fresco dinning space. I like the idea, it's lively, clean, but not crowded. Guisados has an outdoor area in front of the restaurant that they clean often. You order inside (cash is OK) and they bring the food to you. Simple and efficient! We ordered a sampler, to try their "best of" and see what our faves would be. Great idea and introduction! We really enjoyed the mole poblano chicken tacos a lot (we ended up getting the regular size later since we love mole and it's harder to find on menu-s around here) and the cochinita pibil - we are huge fans of this type of pork braised. Tinga de pollo is nice, spicy, fun. Steak picado is solid. We weren't fans of the chicarron, but glad I finally tried it. For drinks, we wanted to try their sangria, but they didn't have any. They have a great selection of Mexican beers, so we went with a Dark Modelo which we enjoyed a lot (note to myself - get some next time grocery shopping). Since we're Horchata lovers, had to try theirs and have no regrets, it's delicious, flavorful. Not a fan of the cups they serve it in, the cap is hard to drink from! It actually hurts my soul a little writing this review. Particularly because I wasn't even sure I wanted to give a second star. Guisado's is a local staple in LA, and so many people praise their tacos as some of the best around. After years and years of driving by their locations, hearing all the tales of their incredible food, I finally decided to visit the Burbank location tonight and experience this greatness for myself. Sadly, I was completely underwhelmed. :( All of the menu options sounded so appealing, but I narrowed it down to three tacos (Cochinita, Chicken Tinga, and Chicken Mole) and a Tamal Puerco. I walked in starving, so I was incredibly excited to feast on my meal. Before I even dive into the actual taste of anything, I'll mention that everything was ice cold. Not cool, not room temperature -- COLD. I was hungry, and didn't feel like sending it back, so I figured, I'll overlook that part. Certainly the flavors everyone raves about will make up for the temperature of the food. First bite of the tamal, and I was wondering where the flavor was. Second bite, and I was wondering where the pork was! No joke, after two bites of it, the entirety of it was just corn masa... no more meat to be found after those two small bites. It was dry, bland, and most importantly, missing the key ingredient -- the pork! The presentation said "authentic", but the flavor did not match. On to the tacos... I started with the Tinga. The chicken was tender, and there was a generous amount of sauce. It was slightly overpowered with heat, which left for a lack of balance in flavor... it was pretty much just spicy, with some black bean spread. Nothing memorable. The sauce on the Cochinita was also tasty, but I found the pork to be mediocre. Pork is pretty much my favorite meat in the realm of Hispanic and Mexican cuisines, and has SO much flavor potential when prepared correctly. This just fell flat. If it weren't for the pickled onions, I don't know that I would have even finished the meat. Finally, the mole. Now, this one had probably the most potential, with a decent mole sauce, but ultimately still lacked DEPTH of flavor that this type of cuisine can and should have... especially when people are touting you as the BEST tacos in LA!! What I will give props for is, as many have mentioned, their corn tortillas hold up incredibly well, considering how saucy these tacos are. It's just a disappointment that for how much sauce is on each one, the tacos are not bursting with layers of incredible flavors. It's all pretty one-note. So much so that I didn't even want to waste the calories on the tacos in whole, so I only ate the meat and left the tortillas alone. Was it the worst meal I've ever had? Certainly not. But when it comes to tacos, the goal is a flavor bomb in each one. After all, you're not eating a TON of food, so you want the taste to satisfy you more than anything, and I left this meal not only still hungry, but feeling totally robbed of my expectations. Notable mention to the cashier, who was incredibly nice, but consider me a one-time-only customer. Sad to say it, because I was hoping that I'd walk away a regular. But there are plenty of better taco options elsewhere. I'd have to say, like many places in this city, a lot of what's keeping this place going is the hype. Give it a try if you don't mind gambling $20 on a few bites, but I wouldn't place any bets that this will be the best taco you've ever tasted. read more

One note of caution - the Torreon super spicy hot pepper taco. They warn you, and you should take that seriously. I'm glad I tried it, but I had to stop halfway through and finish the rest an hour later. There won't be an encore, it's just too spicy for me. And I like spicy. read more

I ordered The OG Sampler, which offered a good variety of flavors, but none of them really stood out. I also tried the Ceviche Tostada, which (I think) was the special of the day. It was pretty good, albeit a bit too sour, but I'd still recommend it if it's available that day. The service was quick, and the street parking is free. I'm a big eater and I typically get full after 4 to 5 tacos. It's easy to get full for less than $20 per person. I'm 215lbs and lift, so if you're a smaller individual you may be full at a considerably lower price point. Service; 5/5: service is always friendly and food is ready in a timely manner. It was my first time at this place. Our group had lunch. I ordered beef tacos. Two of us got very sick. I had to see the doctor who diagnosed me with a food-borne virus infection. I am still having stomach ache since then and have scheduled a second appointment with the doctor. Another incident that day: My friend did not add a tip to a receipt because she already put cash into their tip jar. The cashier took the order, saw no tip added on a receipt and shouted to the cooks: "no tip!" She obviously did not see a cash tip but to shout "no tip" for my friend's order was discusting. Came here on a Sunday for lunch with my friend and the place wasn't too packed, only a few other patrons! Parking for me was a nightmare because the metered parking out front was all taken but my friend told me there was a free 2-hour parking lot nearby that I could park in, so that was definitely a life saver. My friend and I both ordered the OG taco sampler plate ($7.50)... honestly not sure what was on it but we got like 7 mini tacos and they were ALL delicious. The food came out quickly to our table after ordering from the counter. I didn't realize the tacos would be tiny but I guess when they said mini they meant mini!! Oh well, even though the tortillas were small, they were packed full of meat! They all were super different in flavors - some spicy, some salty, some sweet - and it was all really good and I definitely do not regret ordering the sampler! Although my friend and I didn't leave as full as we wanted to, we were still super glad we ended up trying Guisados out!
