First time at this park. Came for the 'Dia de los Muertos" 5K run Tacos & Tequila and Beer Fest! We got the VIP tickets that included unlimited samples of tequila, tacos and beers. The kiddos enjoyed face painting, food trucks, petting dogs & cats awaiting adoption, bounce house and arts & craft. The bathroom where clean, staff was friendly. After the event we went to the casino, must say one of the best in Florida. The also have many restaurants, nightclub, race track, shopping and a beautiful Pegasus and Dragon status. Ehhhh... I'm reviewing this based on a "night-life" perspective. I've never come here during the day, which it seems like it'd be great because there's probably horse racing and the shops are all open, etc etc. With that said, in terms of a night life: ehhhhhhhhhhh.... There are some pubs and restaurants that are good but there isn't that much to offer. I'd probably give it another star if I thought the casino was any better but it's not that great at all... just a few slot machines and that's all it looked like to me. I wish there were clubs and more restaurants. I felt like everything closed so early or was dead. Hopefully, it is still in development because it could potentially be awesome. read more

Nice job making this place more modern....I attended a living social event here, and it was impressive. Very clean look, loads of different stores.. nice face lift.. it really needed it! There was no one really in the casino part, so I can't comment on it, but the grounds looked very tidy and well kept. read more

Another great day at Gulfstream!! Delicious food at Ten Palms. For foodies out there check out chef Kevin McCarthy (remember him from the Armadillo Cafe?). I loved my grouper. Hubby had yummy stone crabs and the birthday cake for grandma was off the charts. We had a great table overlooking live racing. The racing off season is now in Saturday and Sunday. I was in Florida for work and I made it a point to visit Gulf Stream for some horse racing. The track is awesome and is in great shape. The paddock is absolutely beautiful and picturesque. It is definitely the nicest paddock I have ever seen with seating around it as well as large TV screens to follow the up to date news and changes. I do wish that there were less people smoking as when you went inside under the roof that is all you could smell. The acing was great however and overall a nice experience. The area is great too as there are several restaurants and stores right on site as well as the casino. I only went to the race track and to one restaurant, so I did not get to experience the whole area. Hopefully I will be able to make a trip back here sometime in the future. read more

If you've never been to a horse race this is a great place to go. If you don't mind standing out in the sun you can watch the races for free, they do have shaded stadium seating that you can sit in for a fee. They have a concourse with stadium seating where they show off the horses before their next race which is free and gives you a great opportunity to see the horses up close, unless you enjoy gambling, it's probably a place you just checkout once. read more

This outdoor mall located in Hallandale, Florida is kind of new to me. I love the idea of going to outdoor places at certain times of course and depending the weather, and this mall has a few stores I like, as well as restaurants. Plus, for the horse racing lovers they have that too. When I went once on a Sunday they had a horse race and before they did it the horses walked in front of the visitors in a specific area. The kids loved it and I'm pretty sure the adults too. There's also a casino which I didn't enter because I just don't like those things. Since I'm registered on their website, I receive weekly newsletter with promotions and events happening in here. Like the one of this past Saturday where as part of my UYE we enjoyed the nice live music of a group performing on the courtyard. This is definitely a great place for families and people of all ages. Was back to Gulfstream on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Was there with my wife and 21 year old son. $35.00 minimum per person, not hard to do when mixed drink with bar vodka are $9.00. The clam chowder in the bread bowl was great, even though the bread bowl was stale, rock hard stale. Joey, our son loved the sliders and the wife claimed the Buffalo Broccoli was great. Joey and I both had the lobster roll. Little flavour in the lobster and the rolls were not grilled and again stale. My wife had the bun less hamburger, which she claimed was good. Went into the bathroom, south of the betting area and there was no toilet seat on the toilet. For the money they charge, you think you would get a toilet seat. Also the bill came with an automatic 20% gratuity. I usually leave 20% anyways but when I paid by credit card, it was open for another tip, do be careful. read more

This is the best high end horse race track that provides the best views that i've been to. And i've been to most. The pre-race walking ring to the track takes about a minute. And, you are up close and personal to the horses while they parade and the riders get on board. Try getting that at Saratoga or Belmont. Most of the negative reviews focus on directions, cost and food. Gulfstream has free parking and free general admission. There are some upscale restaurants on the upper levels if you're willing to pay. The rest is "track food". Get over it. If you need a "guide" to navigate a horse track, then admit your a "novice" and take the time to learn. Gulfstream, with the connecting outdoor shops and restaurants, is state of the art. read more

Great first time experience with betting at the race tracks. I had a great time with friends. We were drinking by the outside bar which service was fast and efficient. We then decided to go to the inside bar to get some cool air and eat. When we got there the bartender Jennifer practically kicked us out by saying "This is a $35 minimum spent at the bar." What a fantastic experience! I was searching for new and fun things to do and my friend and I ended up here because we saw all the different options they had for activities. We didn't realize there were horse races happening and we were quickly swept into the excitement of learning the different stats and placing bets. It was also a beautiful day! Too bad we missed Florida Derby Day by less than 24 hours! Aside from the race track, there was also a casino, bowling alley, hookah bar and tons of shops and restaurants. Do not trust the info posted on the website! We were in town visiting and wanted to see the Pegasus and Dragon Statue. The website indicated the statue should be open. It was not. While it is a huge statue, they surround it with a fence and shrubbery making it impossible to get a good view. After trying multiple #s to find out when the gates to the statue would actually open, We got told that the gates would open when the BellyFish restaurant near it would open, which wasn't until 5pm! In the meantime, we were at the place at 11am to see it, as their website indicated were the hours! So, don't believe a thing this website indicates. We unfortunately were not able to stay the 6 hours to wait and see IF the gates really opened. So disappointing!! read more

The transformation that the Gulfstream Park has gone through in last decade is nothing short of extraordinary. From a,(dare I say) seedy, race track venue to a full scale beautiful outdoor mall with shops, eats, and a small casino - the paved streets sparkle and fountain casts rainbows. If you are organizing or decorating your home with trendy or outlandish showpieces then you're set!~ When Crate and Barrel left the Aventura Mall, I was a bit taken aback- but that was before I knew of their new location right down the road. I can agree that changing from a smaller location competing with Bloomingdales and Macy's to an anchor store all shiny and new did make sense - and the addition of West Elm and the Container Store are definite bonuses. With these three in a row you can get some really great ideas for furnishing and decorating your home. I have been to every restaurant in the village, and each is unique and delicious. I have to agree with most of my Yelpmigos when I say that I favor Yard House over all. The atmosphere transcends the entire village with its laid back YOLO feel. So why only 3 stars? Because for some reason or another the place can't seem to keep some establishments like night clubs and bars open. Fall in love with something, and the next thing you know, it's gone! Additionally, the stores are filled with expensive clothing that have brands I have never heard of. There really isn't any clothing store in there that you can just run in to get some essentials. Florida Derby! That's really all I need to say about Gulfstream!! Sure people come for the restaurants, the shopping, the nightlife and the casino, but for me it's all about The Florida Derby and I make it out every year on the last Saturday of March for this amazing event. If you've never watched horse racing before or never spent a few dollars gambling on the sport then Derby Day is the right day to come. Yes it's crowded and getting a table is near impossible unless you come at 8am, not to mention getting drinks is challenging, as is the overpriced food (ok none of this is sounding good lol) but honestly the excitement of Derby day can't be matched elsewhere. I tend to arrive around noon (and parking can already be tough at this time) and stay until the Derby race which is usually around 6pm and is maybe the 9th race for the day? There are races every 45 mins or so and I spend a lot of time studying the books and pretending like I know what I'm doing. Turns out most of my betting is based on the horse's name (terrible strategy) but it's a fun day to waste a few dollars per race and learn how horse betting works. Hey, and if you do win, it's even more fun! Once a race starts that's when the excitement begins. Tons of screaming for horses and laughter as your horse pulls ahead. It's basically like being in the crowds at a football game when your home manages to win in the last minute...and that's the excitement every time a new race starts. And lets not forget the hats!! The people watching is great as well...everyone from regular joes to those with gambling problems to women in heels and grand hats! Personally I dress it up a bit and try and put on a cute derby dress to make it a bit more fun. And last thing... bring your sunscreen. Most of the watching takes place out in the sun and my first year I ended up like a lobster. Can't wait for March! read more

This place is a lot of fun!!! There are bars everywhere and the drinks are super affordable, but the bartenders are not the friendliest people. There are many restrooms and plenty of food stands. They have brunch and all day buffet. Have not tried it yet cause there are so many other restaurants in the area. There are too many empty outdoor bleachers, I prefer the tables in the center. But I guess if your there only to gamble you might want to be at that height. This place looks really hip at night, with LED lights in the beautiful archway. Now I love to gamble at casinos, maybe a little too much, ugh. But luckily this place does not have blackjack tables nor poker tables!! Just video poker, blackjack, roulette and slots galore. So if your looking for a little fun, come here and hang out at the bar and bet on the poor horses. Man I love this place. I loved it about 5 years ago when they had the concerts on the "lawn" out front. Where I saw Pat Benatar, Cheap Trick, Chicago, etc. .....all for $5 admission and free for kids. Back then it was just a plain ole racetrack with a big lawn in front, I guess I would have never taken the kids only that they had the concerts. Well, now they have had a huge overhaul, a big facelift and a HUGE injection of money...and now Gulfstream is reborn, from a mere racetrack to a destination for the whole family. Today I had a chance to walk through the casino and man that place was PACKED!!!! Today, myself and my kids and hubby and a good friend SySy had a BLAST. Arrived about 2p.m. Myself and the kids walked around the new stores and restaurant areas and the guys went to the paddock to view the geegee's before the 2:30 race to check the form. The guys went off to do their horsey thing, we went off to check out some pizza and sodas for the kids and then I see it...the sneakly little sign on the snack bar counter...$1.00 beers.....yay beer!!. I was thirsty......$3 for a soda or $2 for two beers....guess which I chose!! Picked us a spot on the lounge chairs at the south Tiki bar for the afternoon. Just a couple of lengths from the finish line, close to the restrooms, lots of space for the kids to run around without bothering the real players. Set up camp for the afternoon. The eldest son sprawled himself one one of the circular lounge beds and slept a while sunning himself. The youngest guy ran around with other kids, diggin in the sand and having pillow fights in a quiet corner. Ah, we'll only stay for a few races we said. But the day flew in...we were joined by a couple of yelpers and the beers flew in and down and the fun was going, the horses were running well but not in our favor but who cared!! The sun was shining, the beers were cheap, the people watching was stellar and today was a day when it was reinforced for us the reason we live in South Florida. Its a great way to spend a sunny afternoon away from the beaches, stores and clubs......yet, Gulfstream has all of that now :) read more

This might be the best Sunday afternoon I've spent in South Florida. Even if you're not the gambling type, it's easy to throw on a derby hat, your salmon Dockers, and sip on a mint julep. Just like I'd imagined it in the movies, Gulfstream Park has all the fixings of a true pony experience. From what I learned, Gulfstream Park has acted as one of the most important venues for horseracing in America. Since 1939, January through April, the world's top thoroughbred contenders pass through Gulfstream Park with their eye on Triple Crown glory. Once you understand the betting process, it's awesome to see all the different mares, fillies and their pint-sized jockeys parade around the paddock. That's where you pick your favorite looking horse and see if it matches up to the most clever name in the race. After losing just $30, my own favorite stallion and I gambled away the afternoon and had a total ball doing it. Great place to take a date or the in-laws! read more

Spent a fun afternoon betting on horse races. If you're thinking of buying a travel voucher or reserved seat tickets overlooking the finish line, don't waiste your money. There are tables and restaurants literally everywhere, either overlooking the race track or a big screen TV. The funnest part for us was watching the hourses as they were brought out to walk around the paddock. You can bet as low as $0.50 although some people here are pretty serious about this stuff. TL;DR: Been screwed over multiple times by this casino. Everything about this place is really nice except for the casino and it's so bad that if I could give this place 0 stars I would. Where to begin? Probably like a year and a half ago I was gambling here and cashed out for like $400 or something like that (just know that several $100 bills were involved) The cashier handed me my big bills but did not run them through a counting machine, instead she counted them by hand, and I didn't think anything of it until I got to the bank and went to deposit the money I had just won into the ATM. It kept spitting one of the $100's back and i finally held it up to the light and realized there were no watermarks and it was fake. So I immediately drove back to the casino to tell them about it. I kept walking around asking the security guards at the entrances to speak to one of their supervisors and kept getting the run around and finally after about 20 minutes someone in a security shirt came up to me and told me that they couldn't do anything because I had already left the premises (which is understandable) but that it was impossible that I was given a fake bill there because all cashiers run all bills though counting machines before handing them out to patrons and they detect counterfeit bills. When I told him that did not happen when I was paid off and I demanded that they pull the security footage he told me to not worry about it and just go pass the bill off somewhere else. SO I ended up getting stuck with a fake hundred and was out $100. Fast forward to last month, I finally decided I was going to start playing there again because maybe it was just a fluke and not something sinister. Me, my dad and one of my dads friends all gamble together and had put a considerable amount of play in there and lost quite a bit so I was once again not happy. But then they started sending us $225 a week in freeplay so my dad and I went in and started getting our freeplay to try and recuperate some of our losses. and after about 3 weeks my dad went in and had $0 instead of the usual $150 and when he went to the players club a supervisor told him that he no longer had any freeplay because he wasn't playing and when he asked how he could get it back they told him he had to play again and when he asked how much they told him, "go play then we'll see if its enough." So we got flyers for 2 months that said $225 a week in free play with no wording that said anything like, "management reserves all rights" or anything like that and they just decided that they weren't going to honor the last 4 offers that they sent him which I could understand if we had won money in the casino, but we had lost almost $5,000 between the 2 of us when we played. So even after all these bad things happened, my dad's friend decided to keep playing there because he wanted to qualify for their "platinum" players card to get the extra benefits that come with it. So after playing for several weeks to earn enough points to qualify for the higher player's club card, he went back to get it and they told him that there was, "an issue with your card, other players are earning points on your card" and that they could not give him the higher player's club card that he rightfully earned. Moral of the story: never trust this casino. read more

The restaurant Ten Palms is always on my list of places to eat when watching a race and the service provided by Charles, Michelle and their team is first rate! I also enjoy playing at the Champion Casino located right next door to the restaurant. Norbert is the man! He's very attentive walking the floor and making sure everyone is having a good time and assisting if they need anything. And there's nothing better than having him call one of the dice games! He's the best!! Overall, these two places are both great to enjoy during the week or on the weekends. It's what keeps me coming back time after time. read more

I go bet the horses and play craps in the casino about twice per week. Ten Palms is the restaurant on the second floor overlooking the track. Food is very good and service is even better. Charles and Michelle greet u at the door with a smile and the only negative experience u will have from there will be if you're horse doesn't win. Norbert at the casino is the best. He will stop by the craps machine and call the rolls like a live dealer. It is a sight to see. One of the top tier thoroughbred racing tracks in America, and in our back yard! Gulfstream is a great place to spend an afternoon. Be mindful of the schedule as there are specific days when the track is dark (no racing) and other days that are absolutely insane, like Florida derby day. Gulfstream is unlike many other top tier tracks for a few reasons. One, there is no grandstand area really. I used to really dislike this, but I realize now that this helps keep people moving around and keeps some of the more... interesting patrons out of the way. The other reason is the whole entertainment complex surrounding the track itself. This means there's tons of other stuff to do here as well, but I'll keep this review focused on the track itself. Like I mentioned, this is a top-tier race track, so you can see some of the best horses in the world here. Unlike most forms of gambling, to play horses properly there's actually a fair amount of walking that needs to be done. You need to watch the horses in the paddock ring, find somewhere to look over the form and make your selections, then actually bet, then watch the race. Rinse, repeat. So it's advisable to wear a comfortable pair of shoes. The track has a good menu of racing options, and the fields are usually pretty full. Of course off days are populated with claimers and the occasionally allowance, but Saturdays are always great cards, full of excellent horses. You can get a great view of them up close during the paddock walk before the race. Of course, trying to pet the thoroughbreds is not advisable, but sometimes the riders of the pony horses will let you feed and pet them. The pony horses, not the riders... though you never know!. The actual design of the place is very different from some of the other tracks. Tracks like Saratoga and Churchill Downs are more traditionally designed, whereas Gulfstream is a massive stone edifice that stretches out in an arc. This faux-classical design extends to the giant Pegasus statue out front. It could be construed as a little garish, but once you're inside the track I think the layout works quite well. Definitely a fun place, everything is convenient and there's tons of space on most days. With the attached entertainment complex, even those not interested in racing can find stuff to do. I had called today to ask questions about the old dog track that is advertised on the internet STILL (fully knowing dog racing is no longer available) . I was addressed by a VERY rude young lady who wouldn't even give me the time to ask my questions. Just blurted out "its illegal in FLorida and we never had dogs here" and hung up on me. It may not have been this particular facility but Gulfstream did, at one time, have dog racing. If this is how they treat everyone, I must inform all of my horse racing owners and fans not to go to this facility or take their horses elsewhere. If this is how they address things I can only imagine how they treat the trainers and horses. Very sad at the behavior and how this is considered acceptable. I was just there yesterday looking for someone to help but no assistance could be found. I had no choice but to add one star. read more

I went on a bus trip from my community and we were given $15 in free play and $5 food credit. When i went to eat the conterperson told me i had .59, i went to the Players club and asked to speak to a supervisor. I explained the situation which he really did not care about and tolx me he would not give me the food credit. No reason, nothing. He said i used it to gamble. I was not going to pay them $10 for a sandwich. This is a mutl million dollar corp.and they could not afford it to satisfy me with thd fhe food credit. I will never return. They were also nasty. Went to Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino on Saturday afternoon. Put some money on the horse races and played a few electronic games before heading back home. Quality It feels like each casino in South Florida has its own unique draw, and for Gulfstream Park it is absolutely the horse racing. It is an element you can only find here and it makes it an experience that can bring some fun for the entire family. And while the inside of the casino is less appealing, the outdoor patio is beautiful and a great place to spend some time. The complex also has shops and dining, for folks looking to make a whole day of it. It is definitely not the nicest casino in South Florida, but it is far from the ash tray that many others are. Quantity I felt claustrophobic walking through the inside horse betting area, but the rest of the casino is large and spacious. It seemed obvious to me that they needed more machines on days they host live racing. However, they had plenty of other machines avaliable and it appeared there was an another other floor of gaming upstairs. Value It is a casino so how much you want to spend is really on you. You can absolutely watch the races for free or even bet as little as 10 cents on a race. Of course you could also wager big money or drop some dollars to enjoy a fancy brunch in the stands. Ambiance Gulfstream Park sits right over the county line between Miami-Dade and Broward in Hallandale Beach. It is a huge facility that in addition to the large track and casino, also has a good sized shopping and entertainment area. Our visit was spent mostly at the casino and hanging out near the track. The outdoor section near the racing is a beautiful area. They have tables sitting out under the open air as well as raised seating that costs a little extra. From the patio you get panoramic views of the area as well as an ocean breeze. Don't breathe it in too deep though because this is a horse track. Inside the casino layout is very strange. The horse betting area is small and cramped with tons of televisions showing broadcasts hanging from the ceiling. Across from this area they had some standard gaming machines, which were separated and empty. There also was a sign that suggested additional machines were upstairs, but I don't know if that is specifically for card holders or high rollers. Outside in the background you could here the live call of the race, inside it was a loud mix of casino games, yelling, and music. Crowd Rather than enter through the casino we came in near the track. Outside things were very calm as guests gathered around different tables or up in the stands to watch the races. There were several machines outside that had a short line, but things moved slowly. Inside was an entirely different world. It was large throngs of people fighting for a spot in line at machines and standing around in the middle of walkways to watch the hanging televisions. Many folks seemed drunk and rowdy, despite being early in the day. It seemed like a very poor setup that was asking for trouble. Service The inside area of the casino, where you find the betting machines was complete chaos. Staff members were yelling over each other and trying to help guests get their bets in on time. It seemed like a clear lack of organization and everyone was on edge. As someone who rarely attends live racing I am not sure if this is the norm, but it was extremely stressful. Parking The casino has multiple large parking lots on each end. Spaces are plentiful, but you are going to want to search for a close spot to avoid the brutal heat from a long walk. Extra While I did not love trying to make my way to the crowded betting machines inside, once I had my tickets I enjoyed hanging out on the outdoor patio and watching a few races. Gulfstream Park provides something a little different to do that the whole family can enjoy, and that is without even factoring in the shops and restaurants. read more
