Jalapeño Corn Bread - oh my goodness - DELICIOUS!!
    Kathleen S.

Highly recommend this gem in Anchorage, who would have thought we would find authentic Cajun food in Alaska?!? They staff is so friendly and attentive, very clean and beautifully decorated restaurant!

Viva España! Perfect lunch on a cold day

A rainy day prompted me to head to this little spot. I ordered the chicken gumbo and at the servers recommendation, the jalapeño cornbread. My server was so sweet and accommodating. The whole staff really seemed happy you were there which was a nice touch. They set me up at the bar so I could enjoy the World Cup final. The gumbo arrived hot and loaded with chicken, andouille sausage, okra, rice and more. It was love at first bite. The roux is so flavorful and it really hit the spot on a rainy day. The cornbread accompanied with butter was served steaming hot. So good! A bowl of their chicken gumbo and the cornbread came out to about $21, a price I will happily pay for such a great bowl. The service, the food, the ambiance all hit the mark. I'll be back next time I'm in Anchorage.

I enjoyed this place so much I went for lunch two days in a row while in town. I went with the cup of gumbo with shrimp and jalapeño cornbread, second day I got an extra side of rice. It was so delicious! Try it. The flavors are fantastic! Give it a try

Good good, attentive server. Shared a bucket of gumbo and it's definitely enough food for 2 people. Very buttery, plenty of shrimp. Noticed that to go pricing is a few bucks cheaper.

    Chicken Gumbo bowl and Cobbler

I'm struggling to review gumbo house as there was many bright spots, but also a particular miss for me personally. As a person who loves Cajun food, I was excited to try Gumbo House. I ended up ordering a bowl of Chicken Gumbo and Cobbler as I wasn't in a particular mood for seafood. The Gumbo had hearty, had a good amount of sausages and the okra had a good consistency with a bit of crunch left in it. The flavor of the gumbo was a bit more bland then what I was hoping for, but the flavor profile would be better for someone like my wife who would've enjoyed it. The cobbler had a good texture, but the ice cream was melted as it was served with the main course.

Sampler: Red Beans & Rice, Gumbo & Jambalaya

The sample platter offering Gumbo, Jambalaya & Red Beans & Rice was perfect! Add a side of fried okra and enjoy.

Gumbo Chicken Gumbo Cup Fried Catfish Dinner

Chicken Gumbo Cup was nasty - very blend and muddy ..... The catfish was. Sandwiched, I thought it was pieces catfish ... the place was let down I don't see how it got 4 star ratings

Traditionally, Cajun-style dishes are known for being flavorful and well-seasoned, with an emphasis on depth and balance in the spices-- but unfortunately my dishes weren't up to par. The angel hair pasta was overly sauced and lacked spices-- borderline noodle soup. The crab cakes and shrimp po'boy missed the mark as well; the crab cake and po'boy were dry and underseasoned. The gumbo tasted bland and once again--under seasoned... where was the robust and balanced flavors? As for the mojito, it's disappointing when a drink you're looking forward to comes out too sweet and diluted, especially for a cocktail that's normally refreshing and balanced. Quality just didn't match the price across the board. Gave some stars because service was friendly and fast, relaxed ambiance with the live music!

I honestly wasn't expecting some INSANE Gumbo experience when I came here but sadly I was still let down. I like the interior of the place and the service was pretty good it's just the food wasn't a hit at all. Tried a few things and some were ok and some were just not good. Ordered the Crab cakes and Jambalaya both were bad. The Crab cakes felt like those frozen crab cake patties you get from the grocery store and the Jambalaya wasn't even a rice dish, it was some form of soup. I've never in all my years seen Jambalaya as a soup. The Wings were pretty good and the Catfish wasn't terrible but nothing special. The actual Gumbo was decent but everything felt under seasoned which was the man problem. I don't think I would come back

Omg everything is delicious! Cute decor, friendly quick service! We'll definitely be back!!!

    Crawdad Special! :)

Service was friendly. Ambiance was nice...but the food isn't what it used to be. Maybe now because it's a bigger venue? Or the cost of everything required cutting back on quality and quantity? ‍. I remember when this place was at the pink house - the shrimp po'boy was overflowing with blackened shrimp. Now, maybe 5 small shrimps in a full sandwich - a bite is mostly bread. The halibut po'boy (the nights special) was a thin sliver of a filet that was over cooked and dry. And the gumbo had a layer of grease on top. Seriously let down knowing how good this place was before and during the pandemic. I hoping it was an "off" night.

Fried Okra - Small, gumbo, red beans and rice
    Ardy R.

Best gumbo ever! This gumbo has tons of sausage and chicken and shrimp; they do not hold back on the meat. Husband had the red beans and rice and loved it too. We also ordered fried okra and the portion was HUGE. The downtown location is really pretty and spacious. Gustavo was our waiter and he was very sweet and professional. They also had the most delicious bread pudding. We can't wait to come back.

Kitchen sink gumbo tasted overly burnt. Probably just a bad batch. The cornbread was great though!

You can find this food truck by checking their social media--they're on Facebook and IG. Unlike many restaurants and food trucks in Anchorage K's Kitchen is serving food past 9pm and into the wee hours of the night! The owner is super friendly, and remembers my boyfriend and I whenever we pull up to order. She has an array of burgers, wraps, wings, and salads to choose from. My personal favorite is the chicken caesar salad--it is the BOMB; chicken is blackened and the caesar dressing is homemade. She also just added a southwest chicken salad which I'll be adding to the rotation. My boyfriend will usually get a wrap or burger if he doesn't choose the daily special. Highly recommend you trying out the cajun fries, so delicious! Also, if she has any dessert available, you'll want to order that too--her desserts aren't permanent menu items so if you see something you like, don't hesitate cause it will most likely be gone! In the past she's made lemon bars, oreo brownies, and so many more that I can't think of. Prices are reasonable too--we get a meal for two for under $30. Portion sizes are large and I never walk away feeling hungry, even when it's a salad. Overall, you need to try this place out! Good food from good people.

Before I start, I will say…read morethat it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!
