I went to Gunther Toody's for the first and most likely last time. The atmosphere is a trendy 50's retro look but there seems to be mostly very young inexperienced wait staff. Could not find anything that is remotely healthy. Yeah I know I'm from Boulder but really this is bad. I ordered the Club Car salad which is a so-called chicken fillet on a bed of green stuff which is mostly head lettuce. Yuck, who eats a salad with head lettuce anymore???? The chicken way overcooked that I could hardly chew it, again yuck! I found 2 little spouts, really just two and few slices of cucumber. The only thing tasty was a fresh baked blueberry muffin and gee I could get a dozen of those little guys at King Soops! Typical "Oldies style", Restaurant! Good food, breakfast is eggcellant, lunch and dinner is alright. Wednesday is 5 cent hamburger night, but one at regular price and the second is a nickel! You don't expect every time you dine out to be a 5 star experience, but you never expect it to be horrible either. And our trip here yesterday was easily in our Top 3 of worst dining experiences and might just be the #1 worst ever. We had a group of 9 of us that were together for a family gathering. They were mildly busy and it took about 20 minutes for us to get seated. Okay, not horrible considering, but that was probably the best thing about the entire dining experience. When they finally did get us seated, they didn't even put enough chairs for everyone to sit at, we had to 'borrow' a seat from another table that wasn't using all of theirs. Then, the waitress (I wish I had gotten her name, you will know why later on) came by to take our drink order. At that time she realized we didn't have menus so she went to get them and said she would take our drink orders when she came back. She was gone between 10 and 15 minutes just to get menus for our table. When she finally returned she took our drink orders and left...for another 15 minutes or so before she came back with our drinks. Then she was gone again but would 'be right back' to take our food orders. After another 15 to 20 minute absence, she returned to take our food orders. At this point we had been seated between 45 minutes and an hour before our food orders were taken. She took all the orders and left to go put the ticket in. Over the next 45 minutes to an hour, we sat there with no food and only saw the waitress one time and offered one person a refill on their drink. She half heartedly offered an apology for the wait. By this point, other people that had been sat after our group had already eaten and left. And then finally our food started to show up, and it still went downhill from there. Cold french fries, overcooked burgers, missing items (my wife had to ask 3 times to get the sauce for her chicken and the roll that was supposed to come with her meal and when she finally brought the roll, it very obviously had mold on it, my mother-in-law had to wait another 15 minutes AFTER we all received our food and they still never brought her complete order out), it was a total nightmare. This is where the waitress again offered another half hearted apology and seemed to deflect part of the blame on us (we came at a "crazy time" apparently even though table after table that came in after we did seemed to dine with no issues). When she brought out the tab, my father-in-law pointed out all the problems, the missing items we never received, the moldy roll, the immense wait we went through, etc) and she told us that she 'did the best she could' and that she was able to take 20% off our bill. At this point, we should have received 50% off or more, but we didn't complain about the discount we were offered. In fact, we didn't raise a stink the entire time until the very end which was coming shortly. My father-in-law paid the bill and told her to keep the change. It wasn't a great tip, but even after all that (the whole ordeal took more than 2-1/2 hours for a lunch) he still gave her a tip. She came storming back to the table and gave him the change and said to keep it because [that wasn't a big enough tip and] it was an insult to her and then she stormed away. We got up and started to leave but my father-in-law wanted to talk to the manager after the attitude he had just received from the waitress (and the overall visit we went through) and even the manager didn't act like he cared. He said the words, but you could tell that he didn't mean them. We have been to this particular location multiple times with larger groups than we had yesterday at the same "crazy time" of the day without issue before. But after yesterday, we will NEVER go here again and I doubt very much we will ever go to another Gunther Toody's again after the way we were treated. read more

This classy burger joint is a great place to come with the family. Came in on a Saturday night and the place was bustling with hungry locals taking their old lady out for the night, even caught a glimpse of green bay packer quarter back Aaron Rodgers checking the place out. There's a jukebox filled with old time rock and roll hits, that you can play for a quarter. The waitresses wear long skirts and have beautiful make up and hair. My wife and I love this place. The cooking staff know what they are doing and constantly put out consistent food that hits the spot. The wait staff is friendly but there seems to be some confusion about ordering the malt and burger combo. We order a malt and a burger regularly together for the combo deal but unless you specifically tell the waitresses that you want the combo they won't ring it in that way and will charge you full amount for both items. My husband and I ordered the guacamole jalapeño burger. He asked for pepper jack instead of Swiss and our waitress said that was fine and he also asked for the turkey burger instead of beef. I asked for my jalapeños to come on the side. When our food arrived both of us got turkey burgers instead of just him. He had no cheese or onions on his. My onions came on the side which wasn't a big deal but was odd because I didn't ask for them on the side. When she brought us our bill they had charged us an extra dollar for a side of jalapeños. I didn't realize that asking for it on the side would cost extra when it was supposed to come with the burger anyway. The staff was uninterested by me and my family's arrivial and seemed to have much better things to do then come talk to us. We we served by commitee. and a bad committee at that. This has been the third time my family of four has tried to eat breakfast here with no avail. We have been frequent customers is the past, Gunther's has been our go-to breakfast place on the weekends, but not anymore. Unfortunately, we have had to wait; been greeted rudely; once seated we were not even acknowledged. We love Gunther Toodys. We eat there regularly. My daughter decided to celebrate her 15th Birthday dinner at the Larkridge location. We had a total of 11 people in our party. We tried ordering several appetizers. They were out of the first 3 choices. I am diabetic and my blood sugar was dropping so I finally just asked what they did have in. She brought us an appitizer sampler. Several of the kids tried to order shakes and they were out of all the ingredients. They were able to make a couple of shakes, however our waitress forgot she had made one. So she brought a random shake over. At this point we start wondering if this was a sign but my daughter really wanted the Birthday dance. So we start trying to order our meals. Every meal had to be substituted for a completely different meal as they were apparantly out of everything. 45 minutes latet the food finally starts coming out of the kitchen. We have to wait anout 10 minutes in between food runs. So some of our party was finishing their meals while other members had not even received theirs yet. As we start eating we realized our entire order was messed Up. We had to send french fries back 3 times before just settling. I asked the waitress what was going on as there was only one other table of customers besides us in the restaurant, our food was very slow coming out and wrong. Our waitress was almost in tears. She apologized, but we continued to have to send food back. I asked her what was going on, why they were literally out of food and she said because they were to busy to order it, but they should have a shippment on Wednesday. I was taken bqck by that. The cooks (a man and woman who is apparently the managaer) were giving the waitress a hard time when she refused to take raw onions instead of sauteed onions. My husband finished his glass of water to find a dried on milk ring in the bottpm of the glass. So everyone starts looking at their cups, and there were 2 cups with some nasty residue dried to the cups. We decided at that point we were done and ask for the manager. She came over very defensive asking what do I qant her to do. I asked if she would comp some of it for the absolute inconvenience. She told us she would remove the .99 guacamole they forgot to put on my burger and I had asked for it 3 times. My daughter's birthday dinner was completely ruined by this restaurant tonight and we still ended ip paying the full $175 bill. In my opinion the manager Laura is a disgrace to company name and her role needs to be reevaluated. read more

We were not super hungry and our waitress guided us thru the menu to a combo that could be split. She even split the malted (excellent) making 1 half choc and other half vanilla. This is a solid spot for breakfast or lunch, but beyond the decorations its nothing to write home about. Colorado seems to have a distinct lack of diners, when I lived on the east coast there was a greasy spoon on every corner, so out here I suppose we take what we can get. The food is good, decent portions, and served quickly. Our server made us feel a bit rushed by just dropping a check, even though we did want to take something to go. Its reasonably priced, and easy to get to. If i'm hungry, in the area and want to sit down its a great place, but dont make a special trip for it. read more
