Very rude service. I bought a sandwich and a smoothie. The smoothie was literally just water and ice. It had no taste. I brought it to the attention of the young kid who prepared it, and he gave me a weird look. I asked for a side of mayonnaise with my sandwich, but the woman who prepared it refused and was very rude about it. They want to nickel-and-dime you for everything. I ate here 4 days in a row. I had a toasted poppy seed bagel with cream cheese on two days, a toasted poppyseed bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon on another day and a breakfast bagel today. Very cute place with good seating. They have a decent amount of bagels to choose from but I wanted the rainbow bagel because it was so pretty. I ordered the egg white/spinach/goat cheese sandwich but added sausage- overall kind of boring. I think the bagel needed salt or something it was very bland and none of those ingredients added much flavor either. I've given this place so many tries and at this point it's my own fault for expecting anything better. Every time I go in I ask for well-toasted or dark toasted and I get a cold untoasted bagel. Looking for breakfast in this area and came upon Gunther tootsies in my yelp search. Reviews claim they have the best bagels. Being a New Yorker I'm very critical of bagels anywhere else. Walking in the space was big with plenty of tables to sit. The decor was kinda dark and unpleasant. The bagels imo looked anemic. This is the closest you can get to a NYC bagel in the South Shore! Service can be VERY quick depending on location. The Pembroke location tends to be pretty busy and can be pretty slow during peak times and through the Summer. Calling ahead helps! read more

Cute bagel & coffee shop. I stopped in to do some work while waiting for my car at Firestone. Since all the two-person tables were taken, I sat at a larger table and got to work. When a smaller table opened up, I didn't notice, but the owner came over and asked if I was alone. When I said yes, I was told to move to make space for a family. Hole-in-the-wall cafe located in Quincy Center (very close to the T). There was a giant poster advertising a rainbow bagel when I walked by, so of course I had to stop in and try one! Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The bagel was dry and kind of tough - didn't taste fresh. I asked for it to be toasted, but it only came kind of warm. They were also stingy on the cream cheese (although the strawberry cream cheese had actual strawberries in it, which was kind of cool!). The vibe was kind of like Dunkin meets diner. You could sit down at one of the tables and use their free wifi to get some work done. There was a group of people in their mid-50's listening to Adam Sandler's SNL version of "Hannukah" on full blast. But if I truly wanted a place to get some work done, I would probably choose neighboring Starbucks or the Thomas Crane Library within a 5 minute walk. read more

I'm an out of towner and was reading other Yelp reviews, so we stopped in to make a bagel purchase. The shop was quaintly decorated and still had a load of bagels more than halfway through the day. The line was short. I ordered a dozen and a half bagels, and had to repeat the flavor over and over again. It became a little annoying. I was waiting for the server to pack my bagels and he just stood there. I was wondering what was going on. Finally I was told that I had to pay for the bagels first before he was going to pack up my order. Guess what, I had to repeat my order again. I paid for the bagels and went to my daughters house. The bagels are ok, I am from New York, and there is really no comparison. I don't know what the fuss is about, but whatever, we ate them and they were fine. I told my daughter about this place, and she said her husband picks them up and never mentioned their practice. I was hoping it was closer to a NY bagel, but it is not. I've been a fan of Gunther Tooties when I used to live in the South Shore area. Having to travel down to Quincy for work recently on the weekend, I was totally stoked about being close to a Gunther. Thank goodness they open early at 6:00am when it's not crazy busy and it's conveniently on the way. Just bear in mind, once it hit closer to 8:00am, everyone is up and about and parking is very limited since it's located on a very busy street. Black Tea Latte (hot or iced)- During the summer time, gotta have my sweet iced black tea latte. And how's their hot black tea latte? Pure bliss. French Toast Bagel- Plenty of bagel selections here but this one is currently my favorite. They toast it up until it's gloriously brown and fluffy. It's a great on-the-go breakfast item and I typically change it up constantly between just the butter spread or honey walnut cream cheese. Overall Service: I'm usually in and out. But when I was having one of my lazy days and wandered in at the wrong time, they seem a little discombobulated and don't know how to move a line. Still worth it though! read more

After several years of occasionally buying food at Gunther Tooties I have finally had enough of the poor customer service. No one smiles, the orders are often incorrect, and the pricing inconsistent, despite being posted. The bagels, or food in general, are not good enough for the rude treatment. Today I spent $16 on what last cost me $12. Three employees couldn't explain it other than we needed to pay because a line was forming. I left mad, but then we gave all the food to a homeless man outside the store. We made his day, and we will just support other local stores going forward. read more

The food is delicious, has a wide variety of bagels as fresh as they come, and the coffee (although a little on the hi-test side) is flavorful. Service was so bad the first time i went in there 10 minutes after they opened the lady completely ignored me so I left. Went back a second time and they messed my order up. Third time I went back the same lady completely ignored me for ten minutes after her manager told her to help the customer. She came to help me and told me to "hold on" so I just walked out I'll never go back.
