It is a shame they can't follow through on their own quotes. Was given a quote in writing but then told they would not honor it. The salesman was told several times verbally and in writing that we would use our local bank for financing. When we told we had to come that night to close the deal or lose our rebate we rushed over. I knew it was going badly when he started asking me financial details, I asked him why when he knew we were using our local bank? Now the sales manager is coming over and tells us that price is only good if we finance it through them. I ask where does it say anything about that and her reply is that we should "assume " that. I guess they did not want to sell an expensive Pilot very badly. I guess I will "assume" something about their business morals. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the Gurley Leep Honda service department. I brought my Honda Odyssey in for AC issues, and they replaced the condenser and related components and claimed to have checked thoroughly for leaks. I was told no leaks were found, and the total cost for the work was over $5,000 out the door. Less than a month later, the AC stopped blowing cold again. When I brought the van back (this is well within their stated 12 months / 12,000 miles warranty for their prior work.) I was told that I now need a new compressor, at an additional cost of around $3,000. When I asked why this was not identified during the original repair, especially given the extensive and expensive AC work already done, I did not receive a satisfactory explanation. It seems really suspect that suddenly something ELSE is the issue and the diagnostics they ran didn't identify a bad compression. To make matters worse, I obtained a second opinion from an independent mechanic that our family trusts and is well known to be honest have a good reputation... he quoted me nearly $1,500 less for the same work I was quoted by this dealership and stated that a failing compressor would have been identified. Finally, based on my experience, I can't recommend using this dealership's service department. The lack of thorough diagnostics, combined with the escalating prices and not being willing to honor their work shortly after MAJOR repairs, has completely eroded my trust. OH and by the way they also charged me to $200 for 2nd diagnostic... they will *never* see business from us again. read more

absolutely do NOT buy a car from here! the salesmen are liars! we got there, did a test drive and loved the car (a pre owned 2017). went inside to purchase it. the salesmen guy Casey told me I would have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, ok sweet. I came in pre approved with my bank for the car, we sat there for almost an hour and half "waiting on financing dept to clear up". during that time Casey came back out with a paper stating my terms had changed and I had to put double the down payment that I was going to. chase had already pre approved me for my amount but ok whatever. then I get an email from Credit Karma that Bank of America did a hard pull on my credit?? the sales manager came out and said they ran my credit "for a better rate". I never gave permission for them to run my credit which is illegal for them to do! anyway they said because Chase charges them an origination fee so they checked with BoA and the % rate was a smidge better. so me being the typical American said "I mean you already ran my credit so might as well go with that". should have listened to my gut and stuck with Chase!! I tried to set up my online banking for my car payment and I can't make my payments withour opening an account thru them! I'm now waiting on my application for a checking account to be reviewe if I can even get one!! anyway back to the car. I go in to sign all my papers around 2pm which was 2 hours after I got there! and the sales manager is shoving papers at me so fast I can barely keep up! I didn't have time to read everything because I needed to leave or I was going to be late for work at 3:30! fast forward to a week later, my fiancé checks thru the papers and on the "warranty" page it says "all pre owned vehicles are bought as is no warranty" When i was specifically told at the entire beginning on the process that I would have a 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident in February 2021 in my 2016 Acura MDX. Due to the fact that I live more than 60 miles away from my nearest Acura dealership I decided to take the vehicle to the closest Honda dealership as I felt that a Honda/Acura body shop would provide the best service. This was not the case! When I first received the vehicle back from the Gurley Leep collision repair center I noticed that my hood and front fenders did not lineup. In addition, I noticed a significant amount of rattling noise coming from the front of the vehicle where the repairs were made. I called the body shop and explained the situation and was told to bring it back in and leave it for a few days for adjustments. I did so and although the Hood and fenders matched up and there were still significant amount of noise is coming from the front of the vehicle while driving. Although I'm not a mechanic I have worked on vehicles since I was young and decided to jack the vehicle up and get underneath to see if I could figure out where the noises were coming from. I was appalled to find numerous plastic pieces that were not by secured with any thing and we're flopping around without bolts and/or rivets. A little bit of gorilla tape prevented the pieces from flopping around and worked as a temporary fix. I called the dealership again.This time I spoke with the body shop manager, Randy. I explained to him what I found. He apologized profusely and once again asked me to bring the vehicle back. He promised me he would ' personally go through and double check all of the repairs that had been made'. In addition, he had the vehicle completely detailed inside and out. Although frustrated, I took the vehicles back again. I got the car back two days later and found there were still rattling noise is coming from the front of the car. I got underneath the vehicle again and found my tape dangling, and bolts and rivets still missing. I called Randy and asked him if in fact they had gone through the entire vehicle as promised. He said he had. I took the vehicle back once again after taking a test drive with Randy. I was told they found the problem and just had to tighten a bolt "three turns" and it fixed the problem. I was upset that this wasn't found previously but glad the problem was supposedly fixed. It wasn't! Girlie Leep has wasted a tremendous amount of my time. they do not offer loaner cars allegedly because of the pandemic so I had to make arrangements to be picked up and dropped off at the dealership multiple times. I believe I have given them plenty of opportunities to correct the problem. I am taking the vehicle to another body shop. I wonder if my gorilla tape is still hanging from the bottom of the car? If I could give this body shop zero stars I would. read more

I recently purchased a certified pre-owned Honda from this dealer. Great car, as are all Hondas, in my opinion. It is just a shame that this dealership so poorly represents the Honda brand. Despite the ridiculous arguing about a fair price, which I guess you always have to expect at traditional car dealerships, my dissatisfaction stems from the financing that they "arrange" for you. I applied for and was approved for financing through Honda Financial Services and sent the salesman my certificate of approval before I even came back to purchase the car. The dealer totally ignored my clear intent to finance through Honda Financial, and put me into a loan with a commercial bank. When I questioned this at the delivery date, they lied to me and told me that Honda Financial does not give loans on Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Then, of course, after I called Honda Financial about it, I was told they certainly do finance certified pre-owned vehicles. The dealership General Manager also confirmed this with me in a phone call yesterday. The lies were then followed by various dealer staff not taking or returning my calls, not being available when I showed up at the dealership, and then more protracted arguments over the phone. Very, very disappointed with this dealership, and I would not recommend anyone use their services for anything. I certainly won't anymore. It just shocks me...car dealers like this already make good money on a car sale and the other products like warranties and fees they want to add on top of the vehicle sale. But they just can't help themselves in angering their customers more by lying and being uncooperative to meet their customers' requests. I reached out to him via email about a referral I gave to them, and never heard back about it. Also, the experience we had with the finance representative was VERY poor. He tricked us into signing a "gap insurance" policy with Gurley Leep before checking with our own insurance company to see if it would be cheaper--which we were able to get with our insurance agent for $15 less on our monthly payment per month! That adds up! The finance representative for Gurley Leep Honda-Elkhart screwed us over by making us feel like we HAD to sign for it with him, when we in fact had other options! Since I have dealt with Gurley Leep I have repeatedly had to take my vehicle in for a scraping noise in my rear back passenger tire. My vehicle is a 2021 and has less than 10,000 miles on it. Although you can clearly hear the noise they have not only told me they can't hear anything but have tried telling me that they checked the back plate as well as the mud flap or guide, they have replaced my caliper as of recently and no one has touched my vehicle but them yet the scraping noise is still there. I have contacted their corporate office, dealt with their general manager and consistently complained for months to the service department manager Todd who tells me they can't find the problem. My vehicle has never had any other hands on it other than the service department at Cassopolis here in Elkhart nor has my vehicle had any kind of accident on the passenger side of my car. No one drives my vehicle except me. I have continued to have ongoing problems with issues all on the passenger side of my CRV including having my back passenger side door knob and latch replaced, I have also been experiencing noises coming from my passenger side exhaust. Warning!! Do not buy a car here! The general manager Ryan Glover is EXTREMELY slimy and dishonest. Will screw you over to gain a quick buck and not look back. I am a loyal Honda customer, have been for years, never had an issue until I met this guy. Tried to steal money that was promised to be refunded if he was not able to find the exact car we were looking for, after calling us in to make a deal. He picked up a car with things we specifically asked to not have, then dragged us through 3 days of back and forth drama. Not sure if it was him or someone else but they FORGED my fiancé's signature -I kept the paper confirming this in case we needed to make a court visit, still have all paperwork in case they try anything else, wouldn't put it past them- then demanded we take this vehicle or he would be keeping our money because we had an agreement? We were obviously confused by this since we never signed anything! He said they "shook hands" as my fiancé was leaving which was the agreement. In reality one of these jerks signed my fiancé's name and tried to force us into a vehicle, one we did not want because he could not follow the stipulations (which were agreed on by Ryan himself) after THEY called US in to make said deal. Finally had an employee (NOT himself) refund us the money when I threatened to contact my lawyer. Overall this is the worst car dealership I have ever experienced and I HIGHLY recommend you stay far far FAR away or they will take advantage of you in a heartbeat, especially if you do not have experience in these situations which he clearly thought we did not and hopped right on his chance. We ended up going to Gurley Leep in Mishawaka and had a fantastic, fast, thorough, and HONEST experience and will go there from now on! STAY AWAY! Very pushy and not understanding salesman. Was there to look at a used car that I saw online to buy with all cash. The salesman, Jonathon, refused to go check on my second and final offer and insisted that it would not be taken (an offer $400 less than their last offer). John also lied and tried to get me to purchase the car without a counter offer by insisting that someone else was also there to look at the same car. The voicemail started out "Hey beautiful" then proceeded to give the caller's name and stated that he is calling from Gurley Leep Honda checking to see how my day is going and asking me to call him. I have absolutely no connection to Gurley Leep Honda and do not know anyone that works there or does business with Gurley Leep. I am on the do not call list. Took a different car there last summer after an accident and now every time I turn left it makes this terrible clicking noise. I've taken it back several times and they say that they can't figure out what's wrong with it. I should've learned my lesson the first time. I know someone who went there while they were drunk and the salesman let them test drive and brand new car and then sold it to them. Wow....what a great buying experience!! My dad originally leased my last car from Gurley Leep so I decided to swing by today after getting sick of other dealerships clearly charging me too much for the cars I was checking out. I had to buy a car about 6-12 months earlier than I planned (due to unforeseen circumstances), so I wanted something really nice but had to work with a limited budget. The folks at Gurley Leep took SUCH great care of me - they were all very personable, honest, and positive...just a pleasure to work with. They gave me honest, "bare bones" pricing without me having to negotiate all that much, which was appreciated after my other experiences today. They truly did everything they could have to make this a (relatively) stress-free experience for me. I wound up buying a different car make/model than I originally planned to purchase, and I'm generally indecisive anyway, but they dealt gracefully with my indecision and helped me decide on a really great car!! Sounds like their sales team is better than their service department. I was there four times because I had issues starting my Honda. They charge you just to look at your car to tell you what is wrong....after leaving the car four times it still was not fixed. Finally the service manager said, "Hey Kiddo, I don't think it will get you stranded." I ended going to a small repair shop in Middlebury which someone recommended, he found the problem immediately and fixed it the first time. A spark-plug wire needed to be replaced. I like my Honda and was even considering getting another one. It would have to be from a different dealership since I promised not to give them any more business. read more

Gurley Leep Honda is just like every other dealership, except for one thing: Whatever price they quote you, they will add $299 when you actually see the bill of sale. What is this? It's the charge for etching the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the windows. This is listed as "THEFT PREVENT" on the BOS. It is an option, but since it's already done, you can't decline it. All cars have the VIN already etched on the motor, frame, doors and every other part of the car. Adding the VIN to the windows will not deter thieves. Even if it did, you can order your own etching kit from Amazon for less than $20. Since Gurley Leep apparently etches every car as soon as they arrive in stock, you can't opt out. But you can - and should - demand an additional $299 discount to make up for it. Or, better yet, take your business elsewhere. read more

I recently took my Accord there with the engine light on and no acceleration. After 2 trips and $1000 later, the engine light came back on during my drive home. When I called back to tell them they had not fixed the problem, they said I would have to pay a diagnosis fee to figure out the "new" problem. I came in with no acceleration and the engine light on, I still had no excelleration and the light is still on, how is this a "new" problem? The final "fix" to the real problem was only $270. Went to Gurley Leep Honda's new location yesterday for free car wash that was promised for life when I purchased my Honda CRV in 2015. I was told by the financial manager that I had to have a card that they are going to issue to receive the free car wash. They don't have the cards yet but he said they had a card they could use to get the car washed that day. They took my car and returned 10 minutes later and told me they couldn't get car wash to work. I was then told that I would have to have service work done in the future in order to get the "free car wash" that was supposed to free for life with the purchase in 2015. The financial manager said that this was the new policy with the new location of the dealership. I would not recommend purchasing a car from Gurley Leep Honda, they do not keep promises they make. read more
