I love this place, the tequila sunfrys are always a go to for me. unfortunately, this particular night was a little bad. I went in last night, expecting it to be as good as usual. I ordered quite a bit. As I was eating the pizza, I noticed there was a hair in my mouth. I tried to pull this hair out 2 times and it broke 2 times, meaning the hair was really long. After that, i could STILL feel hair in my mouth, i had to spit it out at that point. I couldn't enjoy my meal after that. After telling my girlfriend about the hair, she told me there was also a hair in her food as well. that is crazy! I never have issues here but that was really bad! If im paying 15 for sunfrys they should at least come with no hair. The pizza is what has hair in it for me too. Please do something about this. I feel like I wasted my money read more

first off, i'm glad that a local spot was open late during a sunday, that's rare. this spot came in the clutch as i was leaving that show. it was during mardi gras, the place was flooding with king cake, beads & a bunch of people to whatever the dj was providing. there were two servers at first when we sat ourselves down. then, our initial server was extremely attentive & giving us the rundown on the specials (which were appealing). the names of the dishes would win you over alone (i.e. tequila sunfryz, story of the pear, the disco biscuit, etc). after going back between the wu plantang & 2/3 other choices, i went with the wu plantang. wrapped in a jalapeno cheddar quesadilla, it was filled with grilled chicken, black bean puree, fried plantains & tequila queso. instead of the tomato & onions, i subbed for spinach & pepperoncini (that the waitress seemed to be impressed by me making that sub). the chicken has that charred smokey taste, super good. along with the queso keeping everything together, the pepperoncini, spinach & black bean puree just made all of the sense in the world as i continued to take bites. it was very nice size, left me fulfilled. after finishing our selections, we found out that they a separate menu for their happy hour. they have two different times during the day. the selections on the menu can be just as impressive. read more

Had a great experience, but it was a little anticlimactic. First, as a positive, they got a group of 11 of us in for an early Saturday evening dinner with very little notice. Mad props there! Plus, we sat upstairs on the fully weather-proofed patio, even though it was raining. I can't wait to try it in the nice weather! I had the Irish lemonade and the New York sour. Both were good, but neither was amazing. I would pick the lemonade first, though! Lighter flavor, and it'll be great in the summer. And, dinner was very nice, but again, nothing I would go crazy for. I had the Guyute, and it was nice and filling, with a lovely presentation. The pork belly was incredibly tender, with crunch from a chip on top. In town for a conference and wanted to grab something to eat with a friend. Asked a local for a recommendation and mentioned that my friend was into jam bands. She recommended Guyute's. I myself am NOT into jam bands, but my friend enjoyed it! She had all kinds of music snob things to say about not really caring for Phish (she's a Deadhead) and then checking out all the festival posters and pointing out the ones she had been to....it's funny, but she couldn't have had this kind of material if we had been anywhere else. Then I talked about my dislike of the Dave Matthews Band and we laughed about how different our music tastes are. The music decor and playlists offer all kinds of ready-made conversation. The food was surprisingly good. I typically don't expect much from places with a solid gimmick, but my pepper mac and cheese burger was the best burger I've had in a long time. My friends enjoyed their meals as well, the chicken stack thing and a pizza. It looked good and way more professionally executed than I would have anticipated. Pretty good beer selection too. My husband and I went 25 minutes our of our way (back track) for this place, and I'm so glad we did. This place is so unique and different, a huge plus. Our waitress did a good job at keeping our drinks filled and answered all the questions we had. We made the mistake of ordering the fry appetizer AND entreé. Way too much food. The place was very busy and had a table of 16 come in right after we sat down. It looked like they did a good job at taking care of all their tables. A Phish themed restaurant? In Oklahoma? Interesting choice. I only went for drinks with friends and to enjoy the rooftop balcony. The beer selection was surprisingly varied and included one of my most beloved beers (Goose Island Matilda), so I was a happy camper. Guyutes is gonna be one of those new happenin' Uptown places that I will enjoy because of the food and service, but will probably not enjoy going to because of the semi-obnoxious patrons who are clambering over each other. Freaking woo-girls: You're bonafide clichés. The food is really great. Just shy of perfect. Perfection could probably be achieved on some of the dishes by adding a touch of salt. The Disco Biscuit is tasty, filling, and probably my favorite thing at Guyutes so far. The Waffle Fryz (or the hangover recovery variant: Tequila Sunfryz) are also excellent. The curry ketchup is a nice touch as well. The Meat Stick is... Fine. Not bad, just average, and a somewhat small portion for something that costs $11. The pizzas also don't look all that impressive for being priced at $11-12. Actually, all of the food is sort of on the overpriced side, but that's not likely to change because I pointed it out (unless it did, then that would be amazing and I would eat here every week). The prices are also tax-inclusive, which makes it really easy for you as a customer. I'm sure it also helps them get better tips as well. [] All the BUT statements [] - The music selection is nice. BUT it's borderline too loud and occasionally difficult to carry on a conversation as a result. - The servers/bartenders are pretty good (and all really good looking... which, I don't know why that matters). BUT you can't be entirely sure who is (or isn't) an employee of the establishment because there are no Guyutes-identifiers for any of them. The best I can figure is, if they're walking really fast, they're an employee. - The bill comes in a novel (which is kind of clever). I was under the assumption that all of the books would be, you know, good books. BUT our recent visit's bill was presented in the The Red Hat Club, so I guess not. - The upstairs patio is fantastic, and it's a great place to chill. Who doesn't love a place where everyone says the name differently? Guy-u-teez is how I've been taught to pronounce this gem in Uptown. If I were more hip, I suppose I'd already know that, but hey, I can only know so much. Guyutes has a great variety on their menu. The Peace in the Middle East wrap is delightful, and the Gimme the Beat hummus is delicious in the wrap as well as with the sweet potato chips. The Tequila Sunfryz are perfect as an appetizer for a group, although I won't judge if you eat it all yourself. They're that good. On the healthier side, the St. Stephen salad is one of my favorites and it happens to be vegan. There are several vegetarian and vegan options which is always nice to see. Besides the great food, the rooftop patio is really what makes Guyutes special. I only wish it faced the south to see the downtown "skyline," but it's still lovely. They have table service and a full bar up there. You can tell that the kitchen truly wants to put out a good product, and they do not disappoint. Our new fave place! The food is to die for. (editing portion: I was eating when I originally posted and with company, so it was too brief) I've visited Guyute's twice. Friendly service. Everyone greets you when you enter as if they're really happy you're there. I'm not sure why this stuck out for me, but it did. Everyone who works there said hello to us as we passed them on our way to the patio upstairs. I have only ever sat on the patio, even when it was hot because...I just like patios, so I'm not up to speed on the interior. It feels a tad dark inside for my taste and feels a little divey in there, but the patio....really a different vibe up there. So far I've enjoyed the Traffic Light, which is their chips and salsa, queso, guac platter. The chips are my favorite sort of tortilla chips...thin and crisp. The dips were each so good in their own right. I had to stop myself from eating all of it. My friend stopped, so I stopped so I wouldn't look like a glutton, but I WANTED to eat it all. We shared a Return of the Mac. It sounded really just...well, it's mac and cheese between two burger patties, so you see how that sounds...too much, right? But we split it and it was really good! I was surprised and again, found myself wanting more. (Thank god for friends who keep me in dietary check) My second visit was on my birthday. I brought my hubby and we relaxed on the patio with beers chosen from the restaurant's extensive beer menu and guess what? I got a free fireball because it was my b-day. I'd never had one before. It was good! Our wait, Conner, won my heart when he expressed shock over my age. Good move, Conner!! He seemed genuine, but either way, I liked it. heh Hubby and I dove into Catfish wantons...so good with that jalapeno sauce and then we had wraps. It was so nice to find a place in OKC that has a cool atmosphere and good food!!!! Saturday night a friend and I ventured to uptown to explore the "hipster" area of OKC and grab some food. We had heard decent things about this place and decided to try it out. The atmosphere is really cool and welcoming. Its like you're going to an artistic friends loft for dinner. Everyone was very friendly and we asked to sit on the rooftop patio. If the weather is nice I totally recommend this!! It felt like one of those cool places you would go to in Brooklyn that a friend of a friend of a friend told you about. We were seated and given a menu that had a cocktail list for days! A good selection of beer and cocktails were offered. The wine list was lacking, but this isn't that type of place so its fine in my book. My buddy ordered a craft beer and I got a China Cat cocktail. The china cat was a very refreshing gin/cucumber cocktail that was very good! I then however got a martini (I like a strong drink VS a refreshing one). The menu has appetizers which were very hard to choose from, but we went with the "Traffic Light". It is a trio of dips (Guac, Queso, & Salsa) which are positioned to look like a traffic light on a square plate served with a side of chips. The entrees are either salads, flatbreads, wraps, or sandwiches/tacos. I, of course, ordered "The Garcia" salad with chicken and it was great! Tons of flavor! My table mate ordered the "Phish tacos" which were blackened salmon that night and he enjoyed them. The fish does change so be sure to ask your server. Not too shabby. Came with my husband and dad to try out this place. Has a very casual chill feel to it. Semi dark when you walk in, especially when eating at night inside. It was really nice of our waiter to let us try the beer prior to ordering it. Luckily it was super delicious and light. Food wise we ordered the sunfryz, burger w/ mac n cheese, and the vegan wrap. I can only review on the food as I came here for lunch and did not get to check out the bar side of this place. First there is a separate area behind the building where you can park your car. You go in toward the neighborhood and it'll be on your left. It's a small narrow entrance so don't miss it!! I came with a friend and we had the tequila sunfries which, as other people review stated, was totally amazing. It consists of waffle fries on top of this amazing queso smothered in pulled pork with some avocado like sauce and a fried egg over easy-medium. That was probably the favorite of the whole table. I ordered the dough biscuits and it's basically this place version of chicken and waffle but obviously a biscuit rather than waffle. It seemed kinda bland compared to the fries but I took some leftover to my husband and he said it was really flavorful especially the chicken crust. I'd like to come back here for the drinks. I finally made it to Guyutes and I am glad I did! I'm trying a new game with friends when we get together and we choose places to go based off where none of us have been before. We landed on Guyutes and met at 8:00. While the parking lot was a bit confusing as it is hidden in the back, there were ample spaces available. At first I thought this to be a bad sign, but the bar/restaurant was full! We went upstairs and waited for less than ten minutes for a table to clear and grabbed it. Beforehand, we grabbed drinks from the bar. I had a Green Initiative and she had a Fire on the Pineapple. Both were great, but hers was especially delicious! It had the perfect kick to spice up the night! Our appetizers were the Beet Hummus with Sweet Potato Chips and Waffle Fries. I typically am not a hummus fan, but this was incredible!!! I highly recommend everyone getting this to start your night at Guyutes. We got the bottom of the chips so we had lots of small pieces, but we also dipped our fries in the hummus! The waffle fries tasted like Arby's curly fries...that's a good thing. Our entrees were fantastic as well. I ordered the burger with macaroni on it and she had a pizza. I wish I could remember the name. The names of the items are all tantalizing so any way you go should be just as great. The ambience was effect for an April evening being on the rooftop terrace. The people were from all walks of life. I had read the reviews prior and so I dressed in my white joggers with a tank top and two-tone vans. She ended up wearing white pants as well. We had an incredible experience at Guyutes while driving across the country this summer. We were trying to avoid crummy fast food and saw that Guyutes was a dog-friendly option with an interesting menu for lunch while driving through OKC. We got there around noon, it was 100 degrees outside and I could see that their roof deck was definitely not open. But I went in and asked about outdoor seating. They were so generous to us! Clay opened up the roof deck just for us and our dogs, found us a perfect shady spot, and brought us lots of cold water. The food was fabulous, I had "The Joan Jet" deliciously crunchy falafel sliders and I would ask for extra sauce next time, it was so yummy, I could have drank it alone. My mom had the "Story of the Pear" bowl and ate every bite. I couldn't tell you how it was since I wasn't offered any to share! We also shared the "Catphish Wontons" which are worth the stop alone. Little bundles of fried perfection are a play on Crab Rangoon and I would travel back to OKC for them alone. But what really made our day was Clay and the team. They were all so kind to some very weary travelers and a couple of cooped-up dogs who all desperately needed an hour or so out of the car to relax and enjoy a good meal. My only regret is that we were only stopping through. I know that it wasn't typical for them to open that space on such a hot day and not only did they make that accommodation for us, but they also provided exceptional service with a smile. If I ever find myself back in OKC, this will be my first stop to eat more food, drink a beer (or 2), and truly enjoy that great roof deck. read more

The catch phrase... elevated street food.... This is at best humble. This is street food on steroids. I lived in LA during the boom of the food truck frenzy, and I don't think I've had anything quite as unique and plentiful as the offerings at Guyutes. Moreover, most street food is on the small serving side. Here, the servings are big.... Guyutes is part of the revitalization of 23rd street. I really cannot remember what the building was before, but you can bet I will remember it now. The inside is industrial adorned with the posters of all the bands you've loved/discovered in college. All the offerings are a play on bands and music. Fun and tasty. I've been a few times, and can't wait to go back, if only for the Tequila Sunfryz... waffle fries with pulled pork, queso, some cream concoction and pico... topped with a fried egg. I'm a sucker for fried potatoes and a runny egg. The hubby and I also started out with drinks... I had the old fashioned.. and his was a whiskey and lemon drink. Not realizing the mount everest sized Tequila Sunfryz, we also ordered the WuPlantang and The Cranberries pizza. The Wu... was a wrap with brazillian flavors of plantain, been and cheese. Rich and delicious. The Cranberries, tones of cheese, chicken and cranberries. Yummy. The place as TVs for catching a game or two. Lots of tunes on the jukebox... which I think is run by the staff. The most notable odd thing is the music in the bathrooms... the ladies' is a bunch of cats... The mens' bathroom soundtrack is a bit more... oh you just have to go for yourself. It's definitely a bar first though -- our waiter was pleasant and eager to take our drink order, but after a good amount of waiting, we had to be the ones to tell them we'd actually be eating as well so they could take our order (it was pretty late so I don't blame them for thinking we were only there for the booze). This is a new restaurant that opened up on 23rd and has been a great addition. The food is nothing else like you've had before. We showed up at 7PM on Friday and they were on an hour wait, but we were able to get drinks at the bar while we waited. Once seated, the food is unique and delicious. I highly recommend the Tequila Sunrise Waffle Fries (imagine nachos with waffle fries instead of chips, amazing) and the cranberries pizza. I can assure you that nothing at this restaurant you will have had before though. For drinks, they have a great beer and liquor selection. They have a $2 beer called Red Peak that is amazingly good. Cool fact: they are the number one distributor of this beer in the nation. I definitely recommend checking out Guyutes. read more

First off, the atmosphere here seems fitting if you have a set of those light up finger gloves or have been to at least one Phish concert so I'm just giving fair warning to anyone preparing to take their Grandpa out to dinner, unless your Grandpa is Steven Tyler or a member of the String Cheese Incident this might not be the place for a family get together. I'm not a fan of the vibe *but* the food MORE than makes up for it. Plus if stained concrete and low lighting gives you the willies, they've got the best patio seating in town, just move up top!
