Internet is ok, not great, they basically make you add a phone line to get any reasonable package pricing but low and behold some very basic channels are listed in the Favorites Tier and Sports Tier. To get Nat Geo Wild, DIY, Destination America and a couple other channels they want another $13. The Outdoor channel, in the sports tier, is another $9. Like all cable companies they split things up just enough to keep you paying their "Intended Per Household Price". They got you by the you know what and they know it. Our installation in the Canyon Lake/New Braunfels area today went flawlessly. The GVTC tech Chris did a wonderful, detailed, and clean job. He explained how to use the phone app would allow me to easily (re)configure our service, providing guest networks. So far the speeds are great. We'll see how things go later on. read more

Regrettably I had to get very rough on a few of the recent issues we had with GVTC. However it caught the attention of the right people and let me tell you! This company will work the entire day to make sure you are completely satisfied. They actually do not leave until every last thing is working properly, and furthermore, they will leave the information of management to make sure there is quality service after the sale. On a previous review I had to get rough as I said earlier, but this company went above and beyond to make sure that they had satisfied us. I must THANK Michael Lysaght. Absolutely AMAZING. UPDATE: 24 HOURS LATER... Mr. Lysaght called personality today to check on us. We have BLAZING fast speeds on the internet and perfect TV connection. This has been a terrible company to work with so far. We had them come set up internet in February, and they laid the line around the outside fence of the backyard. When they came to bury the cable, we were told no one needed to be there. They buried the line in a different location (through the backyard where an addition was about to added). They refused to move the line, even though it was never communicated that it would be buried in a new location. They said we would have to pay for it. Now our service has been turned off because they are saying we have to hire a third party to do a new conduit and that the one they laid was only temporary. I have spoken with many different supervisors and no one is taking care of this issue or accepting blame. They literally just turned off our service and are telling us it's not their problem. My wife and I tried for five hours to speak with someone in billing, with no success. Ridiculous hold times, and ten times I entered our phone number as directed by the automatic message, for a call back. Each time, the automated system read back different numbers from what I put in, and omitted numbers each time as well. We have been great customers for years. Customer service with them was pretty slow each time I called. I was with them for 1 year because that is all I could get for internet in Boerne. I was paying for 100 mbps upload and download speeds with fiber ops. I never got the speed I was actually paying for. I was shorted by sometimes up to 30 mbps upload and download. Not only that but they are way costlier than a lot of the competition out there. They are better than AT&T so I will give them that but I guess that is why they cost more. If I had to choose internet services and actually had an unlimited option of different internet providers gvtc wouldn't be my choice. But I do need internet no matter what so at least they can give decent speeds even thought the cost is kind of overpriced. read more

Internet connection is the absolute worst! I've had to upgrade from DSL to Broadband to Fiber, and the prices are crazy high, but the service is constantly having issues daily. I rarely report, but when I do call, they answer attempt to resolve, but state it needs to be escalated and someone will call back, but the issues only temporarily get resolved. You rarely get the speed you pay for. Latency issues big time. Phone prices are insane. Shouldn't be more than $20 for a landline, but it's close to $50! Don't even get me started on the email!!!! Archaic interface that has the least user friendly system for organizing or deleting emails and controlling spam. It gets hacked regularly and all emails get wiped out, and you'll go weeks without an incoming email. Security is extremely low. read more

I'd give zero stars if it were possible. Never lived up to it's claims, even after "upgrading." The speed doesn't matter, if you have no signal. And when called for assistance, you get told to basically perform a technical, engineering evaluation of your property's set up, before they'll condescend to send anyone out to help. (No sir, I DON'T know where the internet comes into my house...it's a rental. How about you drive out and see for yourself?) Their prices are way too high and they genuinely DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. repairs take more than 2 days even though you cannot operate a business without internet. Just had Bobby to our house installing a new box in our mother-in-law suite. He was very professional and he explained things to me in the beginning before starting and during the process. He tested all our tv's making sure they all communicated and were working well before he left. He updated the main box and showed me the equipment and reviewed what he had done. He was very precise and friendly. He came toward the end of the time window they gave us but he wasn't late although he did apologize. read more

Welcome to GVTC....where we charge more than any other ISP. We also charge an extra fee for "faster internet service" only to reduce your speeds between 6-10 pm nightly. Worst internet service provider ever. Only reason we use them is because we have to. Calling customer service only gets you the usual "well we can have a technician check your service a week from now" response. Terrible, avoid if possible. read more

The technical support team directed me over to customer support because they couldn't give me a static IP address. Been with GVTC for years and yet the best they can do is 8 (yes eight) Mbps speed at our location. On top of that, constant packet loss (10% + at night) and frequent ping spikes over 100ms. We don't live in Antarctica, we live 15 minutes from Boerne and this is the only provider that our area has. Technician came to the house a couple months back and said he "fixed" the problem (changed the sheath on one cable outside), yet here I am again not able to stream Netflix or play games as has been a common occurrence for years. I've had to call at least 10 times in the last year for internet outages, ping not dropping below 200ms, etc, and I think in the amount of time it will take for them to actually diagnose and fix anything I probably could have invented the internet again and maybe upgraded myself to 9 Mbps. read more

So i have been a GVTC customer for a year now and was originally satisfied with the 250 megabit plan for around $70 a month also including a static IP address as i have a small server farm. Yesterday i called them and asked to try the gigabit speed of 1,000 megabits. The lady on the phone informed me I should start seeing the new speeds within the hour. However the speed never came. So this morning i called again to see why the speed was not increased. Turns out that the lady on the phone never actually upgraded me or may have forgot about me. So after I called this morning and started from square one the speed was finally increasing while on the phone. It appeared everything was working correctly. Within the next hour i had logs on my Cisco rackmount router showing a drop from 750 megabits a second to 630 megabits a second. I called them back yet again and now they had begun trouble shooting the issue. It seemed they where trying so hard to blame my wireless router for the issue. Little did they know the router was a rack mount Cisco router that does not support wireless systems. I still followed there trouble shooting steps. The tech had me plug my PC directly into the providers internet without the router in between, the speeds where still at around the 800 to 750 range (directly wired into the providers cable). After the tech was informed that my speed was 800 she claimed this was within the specification of GVTC. "Wait so telling your customers flat out that there internet service is fine at 800 megabits when they are actually paying for a true gigabit speed of 1,000"? this made no sense to me at all. GVTC isn't that bad on the smaller speeds but when techs do not clean fiber correctly or log there fiber installs then this is the outcome. GVTC does not actually use fiber splicing trailers like the other big providers. So this most likely explains the loss of the signal. In summary if your going to get GVTC on a fiber connection keep your speeds at 250 to 500 megabits a second. The customer will never see a true gigabit speed with this provider and at the high cost of this speed, that is a big deal. If I could give GVTC advice on something, start cleaning the fiber connections and if you already do this, then have your technicians provide screenshots of the clean fiber for logging and accountability. it goes a long way. read more

I have been very disappointed with GVTC. We have lived here for 3 months and it took 2 months for them to get the right people out here to bury our cable line. It took another 3 visits to get our cable working only to have it disconnect and the signal being lost EVERY DAY! Gvtc has a lock on Boerne and they know it! All the field techs and internal customer service techs are awesome. But get ready to play the pricing game. They start you out with fair pricing to sign you up, and then every year it continues to go up. I was told today they would not reinstate my discounts since my 1 year obligation has expired unless I cancelled service, go somewhere else, and then come back. TAKE CARE OF YOUR GOOD PAYING CUSTOMERS! I have telephone, internet, cable, and security, what more do they want me to purchase. I used GVTC for years and usually had good experiences with them. I moved out of the area and discontinued my service. I was told that I missed the cut off by one day and that I probably wouldn't even get a bill for the one day, but if I did it would be nominal (a few $...under 20) I got the bill for the one day and it is $44.84. I called to express my displeasure; however, they did not care what their representative told me. Very disappointing...not only the money...more importantly the principle. I would not recommend them at all. I consider them to be greedy and unreasonable and uncaring. read more

Where I live In boerne GVTC is my only option and it's awful! I am working from home and we can only use maybe 2 devices at a time but I pay $95 a month and I'm beyond frustrated. I don't know if I should just purchase a hot spot and cancel them altogether or find out if satellite internet is available in my area. I don't understand how moving 1 street over I can no longer use spectrum and I can't use GVTC fiber so my speed is only 20 mbps and they don't have anything faster to offer me!! On top of that my internet was disabled twice and the techs couldn't tell me why and I had zero notice (no call or email) ...I was in a meeting and just lost internet and it took 24 hours to get back. I feel so stuck this is our ONLY option for internet and we can't even rely on it!! read more

Having tried now for 4 days I have been told by tech support we don't have not had the email or any thing else and the best we could do is to create a new email account. Can't do that because we still have a business account that is tied to the account that doesn't exist. Way back in the day they were a caring Co-op. Somehow the mission got lost. I thought this would be a good alternative to Dish or Direct but their "packages" or add ons- add up. You have to get all packages AND get their add on for even Diy. TCM is another add on, increasing the $$$$. Plus alot of channels the top 100 (more $$$) has several channels you can get on your antenna. When we first signed up with GVTC they quoted a price for a bundle but when we finalized the bill ended up being higher than quoted and what we were paying for DirecTV. Oh well, we were in it for a year. Now year is up and bill went up again and when I called to discuss some discounts or specials available, was told there are none! Also, the internet speed is NOT any faster than what we had before and after talking to their tech support, the modem probably needs to be moved closer to my work area or i can use a booster. My complaint here is that when they installed their modem I asked about moving it closer to my work area and the installer said not necessary, it should be fine where it is! It's 1:am, the irony of the reply today from GVTC to my original post is that I am at my Moms tonight telling her about it and that I will follow up with it. Later while watching a movie it cut off. That was an hour ago, still no WiFi. I just had to laugh if not scream at the typical undependable service. I could not live here and only have GVTC to choose from because I could not have my computer shut down or my iPad due to my WiFi not working all the time because I depend on it at all hours for work. What do people in Boerne do? If I were not here, my midnight check in via Alexa would not have worked. She could not turn out her bedroom lights with Alexa but more importantly she pays for high speed internet and can't even watch a full movie and tonight 1/2 way through her Agatha Christi movie she was enjoying, it just cut off. I'm not surprised, my Mom is upset so I wanted to post this now. In order to do so of course, I had to turn off WiFi on my cell to get service. So far the service is nothing special. The package discount price a outrageous. But since they're a cable/internet monopoly here in the Trails at Herff Ranch they don't have to offer any discounts for premium channels as they do offer where there is TWC. When I asked to get the special premium discounts they offer in other areas. Their response was we don't offer in your area. But will fo close to double the price. I opted for GVTC because they promised to do what TWC could not. Once the technician came to my house, he was there for a good 6 hours and managed to bust through my ceiling. He came back to try to patch it up himself, only making it look worse. Then two more men came out and tried to fix it, also making it look worse. They said they were coming back to properly fix it but no one ever came back. On top of that, the service they said they could easily provide, was shotty and unacceptable. If that wasn't enough to deter you from these knuckleheads, in the middle of my contract, they changed their plan causing me to order special boxes which then raised my already astronomical bill! THEN, when I couldn't get my box things to work they told me a technician could come and set them up for me....for $50! I HATE GVTC. I will never recommend them and I will never use them again. read more

Hidden Security System Costs GVTC advertises $20/month security monitoring systems but what they don't tell you is that you have to subscribe to their phone device as well which is another 20 bucks plus after fees and tax. They also used my security system contract to lock me in to their phone service no matter how hard I worked to fight it! They're seriously crooks. If you have any issues with these guys you'll need to quickly contact the Better Business Bureau, they're you're only hope! Also I dropped their cable service after awhile. They have the Al Jazero network but no Blaze. read more
