Disappointed in the overall experience with this overly hyped place. They cannot handle pressure clearly. Went here for a regular weekend dinner. They told us to call them to book the order even though we were at the door. Upon calling, they asked if order is small or large. What is the definition of large order, they could have tried to explain themselves but they didn't. So I tried to explain the three dishes I had to order. Then the lady picking the order sounded rude and said we will see if we can place the order in kitchen. She could have been clear if they can take the order or they were really busy instead of getting upset on phone and not able to plan what the kitchen can take. Improve your service!!! read more

We found this gem of a place on our recent trip to the New England region. Being vegetarian, there weren't sure if we will have many options but our waitress was so nice and she said they could make pretty much every thing on the menu without meat. Don't let the description of this place as vegetarian or Peruvian dissuade you from coming here. You don't have to be an adventurous eater to enjoy your time here but if you are you'll be pleased. The menu travels the globe offering dishes for every palate. The decor is funky, atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There are 2 generous dining rooms as well as 2 small outdoor dining areas. My husband & I both found multiple items on the menu that would have made us very happy, the bummer was we had to choose. I chose the Cranberry Mac n Cheese based on previous reviews & the uniqueness of it. The portion was normal (not the crazy huge amounts you usually get nowadays) service with a side salad (?to prevent clogged arteries??). It was cheesy & tasty, just the right amount of sweet from the cranberries & smoke from the bacon. Just a bit oily. My hubby had the Moroccan Bus Station Lunch-wow!!! It is a feast for the senses & doesn't disappoint once you dig in. The tomato sauce was rich, dense & slight sweet. The meatballs were perfectly crispy on the outside and lamby inside. We had been sitting under the Homemade Desserts sign throughout lunch so we HAD to try a couple. Unfortunately the highly touted Coconut Cream Pie wasn't available so we went the the server recommendations of the Marscapone berry Cake & Cuban Flan. Both were good but we missed the Pie. For the price, this place is great! Menu is all over the place, in a messy but charming way... they don't take themselves too seriously. We came with a large group of 10 and were well taken care of. The Thai Red Curry Duck was cooked to perfection, great portion and very tasty for the price. Not so much. Came here hoping for the ecletic food experience described by the yelp family. Found the service and food lacking. Sat outside to enjoy the passers-by and view of the mountains on a nice summer night. Even called ahead to place a rez. Waited fifteen minutes for service before finally being waited upon (moments before getting up to leave). Truth is - we should have. After ordering, the drinks were slow to arrive. We did not even have water at the table to sip while waiting. I would say it was a good twenty-five minutes that we remained without any refreshments of any kind. A sudden rain storm brought us inside to the bar. Even seated at the bar, our second drink order wasn't taken for a good ten minutes while the bartender "caught up". Ended up cancelling our food order since it hadn't arrived after a leisurely sip through our second beverage. Sadly, not what I was I was hoping for. read more

What an amazing little place for dinner! Warm, inviting atmosphere. Excellent service and fantastic food. The waitress was so patient with all of our questions. The grilled bacon and cheese fondue was really different and so tasty. The pumpkin pasta had just the right flavor, the fajitas were delicious. My beyond picky daughter ordered a custom kale salad with apples and ranch dressing, no problem! They also have a separate vegetarian menu, my daughter ordered vegetarian potstickers and they were amazing. Almond joy martini, delicious! This place has a great vibe, flawless service and melt in your mouth food. Chocolate lava cake was worth the calories. Mac and cheese with cranberry sauce, potatoes, and bacon. Do I have your attention yet? The food reflects the decor perfectly; colorful, bright, bold and creative. Aside from eating the best nachos of my life, the warm welcomes and great service, the food is the absolute baba-bomb! The New England Macaroni and Cheese was something that stood out from the menu where all the crazy ingredients just worked. The pulled pork in the nachos exploded in flavor and the cheese was broiled to a perfect crisp. The sandwiches were just as good as the appetizers, where the Reuben was filled with delectable and juicy meat, and the Zuni Wrap was stuffed with turkey and brought to life with basil mayonnaise, scallions and a raspberry dipping sauce on the side. I haven't been to a 5-star restaurant in a while, but Gypsy Cafe is my new favorite destination restaurant. The non-alcoholic drinks were delicious (strawberry ginger cooler) and the blueberry soda from Maine was very memorable. Looking forward to my next New Hampshire trip! I wish I would have had the chance to try their food... Came in for lunch. We were at the front of the line that had formed in the middle of the restaurant. Even though there were many tables available, no one would seat us. Servers kept walking by us to go to the tables that were outside. The line was obviously in the way, and it would have helped to have had someone seat us. Another group behind us was thinking the same thing. I heard one guy say, "I know i am in the way, so why don't they seat us instead of going in and out like that?" After 10 minutes of waiting, we left and ate somewhere else. If you are "busy", at least greet the people waiting so they know you have at least acknowledged them! read more

Wow....this it is an excellent place to eat considering this is Lincoln New Hampshire. I don't mean to sound condescending but this area is very touristy and very simple and considering I just got off the zip line, was starving and Incredibly thirsty. I wasn't expecting much. This came highly recommended from somebody in another County. The food was very sophisticated and flavorful and they have an excellent Frozen drink selection. The Ambiance is a retro 60s Bohemian environment... very very cool. I suggest that if you're coming in peak season to call ahead and make a reservation. Lamb and steak selection are two thumbs up. We had a wonderful lunch at the Gypsy Cafe, and I'm excited to return. We walked in from the heat after a morning of zip-lining, and immediately noticed the cool mosaic tile artwork all over- they even have a mosaic tile bear statue! I'll grab a picture of it for you Yelpers next time :) We were greeted and sat by a friendly older woman who later turned out to be one of the owners. She was so friendly and accommodating, and helped us find a great seat in the shade (we really didn't need any more sun at the moment). I had seen a picture of the Kale Curry Salad on Yelp and already knew I wanted that, and chose to add some grilled chicken breast to it. My dining companion opted for the nachos with steak on top- which turned out to be a pretty amazing choice. We both ordered drinks, me trying the watermelon basil cooler (which had just a touch of ginger beer in it, and was delightful), and the watermelon margarita, which I highly recommend. It was clearly made with real watermelon, and was refreshing and delicious. The salad was fantastic. That dressing! I wish I had a never-ending supply of their curry salad dressing, something I had never thought of before. Now that I know it exists, I'll have to try to buy or make it, because it was wonderful with the perfectly crisp kale, the pumpkin seeds and cranberries, and the juicy, delicious chicken breast. The nachos really received most of our attention when they first arrived, though. Holy cow! They were huge, with a ton of fresh melted cheese and a large amount of medium-rare (as requested), tender pieces of steak. I tried to only steal a few, since this was serving as my date's entree, but I couldn't help stealing olives and jalapenos when he wasn't looking. They were probably the best nachos I've ever had. As we were eating we noticed another guest ordering from a special vegan menu. They also accommodate dairy-free and gluten-free, which is great to know. This was one of the most delicious dinners in recent memory, with courteous and prompt service despite huge crowds. On day one, we had to make a reservation for day two due to long wait times, but boy was that worth it! We got a bunch of appetizers-and it turned out to be a great decision! went to spend a couple days in a resort in the area; was not very thrilled with the food on premise--thus motivated to move around town and see what's good to eat! picked a few places out from the local map; read reviews on yelp for each, and decided to give this place a try. what a pleasant surprise! we made it in on the last day they opened before a month-long closing (maybe they need a vacation too?). lunch time on a weekday, the place was quiet (well, it's a quiet town!) but not dead. ordered some things recommended by other yelpers; was not disappointed at all! drink: 1. forgot the name, but it was a strawberry + ginger beer kind of frizzy drink (non-alcoholic). the ginger beer is the tex-mex kind which has a bit more kick than the "other" kinds of ginger beer. needed some getting used to at first, but once you get into the zone, you're all set. soups: 2. french onion black bean-- the older lady (owner?) told us there was this "murder mystery" night going on yesterday (which we were obliviously to until way after the fact) and they had all these black beans... threw it into the beef consomme and voila: french onion black bean soup! surprisingly good though, as i'm not a big fan of mexican spices, actually, and this soup has none of that. 3. mushroom brie-- it reminds me of the campbell's cream of mushroom, but in a mmm mmm mmm good way! can't point my finger exactly why, but it's creamy and it's good! good recommendations, fellow yelpers! appetizer: 4. corn fritter-- comes in a set of 6 (good size), w/3 different dipping sauces, in my own defintion: tartar-ish sauce, asian-inspired lime/cilantro-based dip, tex-mex spiced sauce. all good in its own way. w/just me and my bf, i double--even triple--dipped, one in each bite. HA! best of all worlds. entrees: 5. enchiladas-- bf had this dish; said was great but was a bit smaller on the portion (got 2 instead of the usual 3), and the salad on the side doesn't really go w/the enchiladas. but at about $7 for a lunch entree, they do give you a fair portion. flavors are there, although he would not have preferred to have that corn tortilla deep-fried. 6. zuni roll-- it is basically a turkey wrap w/bacon and stuff in it. what surprised me though, was that it's actually WARM!!! i'm not a crazy fan of cold sandwiches in general--esp. when it's not 90 degrees outside--so this is such a pleasant surprise. that raspberry (cranberry?) marmalade does have a spicy kick to it, while maintaining the sweetness of the fruit. amazing dark purple colors too, very appealing. and very filling! ambiance: hip during the day, w/very exotic decorations and wall paintings. can see how this place can be turned into a romantic first date venue at night as well, with the lighting and the little things that add to the mood. for a place like this, their bar is exceptionally sizable-- i feel like i see more booze than food items on the menu! service: good in general; waitress came a couple times to check on us, without being too pushy or anything. people there seem genuine and friendly; definitely don't have any snobbishness (or if they did they hid it well! xD) even though the area is presumably touristy. the only "down" side would be parking being a bit confusing. they have a small area by the right side of the restaurant that may be able to accommodate a couple cars, or you could probably find street parking on the side street a couple blocks over (no parking on main road). on the left of the restaurant, there is a medical building parking lot that is open to public during "off hours". across the street, there is also a shopping center lot--not sure if you can legitimately park there, but the shopping center was VERY dead and the lot is far from crowded. so i suppose you're safe, unless you go during peak season, it might be a different story. overall, a great experience that surely scored beyond expectation. definitely a hidden (or not so hidden) gem. would certainly recommend this place to others who'd visit this town! read more

Gypsy is always a really solid spot in Lincoln. Love the diverse menu - lots of very different cuisines (pumpkin ravioli, Malaysian stir fry, and Malai Kofta, for example), but it feels like these are dishes the restaurant has really nailed down well, rather than a restaurant attempting to include everything on the menu. Recommend making a reservation in advance. Waitstaff is always really nice and solid drink selection. read more

Gypsy Cafe is great. We stop here every year during our annual ski trip to Loon. The owner, as well as all the servers we've had, have been really kind. The restaurant is super funky and fun. If you stop by during the week night, it's pretty crowded with happy people. They have a good variety of vegetarian food with a minimal amount of vegan options (a lot of cream sauce and cheese in dishes) but they also seem to try to feature food from different places around the world, which I love. They have an extensive dessert menu too so don't forget that! Keep in mind: if the dish says it's spicy, it's going to be super spicy. Con: I'm not too keen on their mixed drinks. The Sangria was a little pathetic, lacking flavor and had no fruit. The classic margarita had way too much mix. I'd stick with some non-mixed beverages at this joint. read more

We were here last year on a ski trip and really enjoyed the evening so we made a reservation on Saturday night. The place was packed but we got seated after 5 minutes and the service was friendly and quick. We ordered some mulled wine and hot cider to warm on after a long fun day of skiing. Both the drinks were very good. We then had duck quesadillas which was an excellent app. We then had lamb chops which were slightly more "done" than we ordered but still very good. We could have eaten more of them. The curried duck breasts were fantastic and so tender with tons of flavor. The kids had chicken fajitas which they loved. Can't remember the last time our kids loved the same thing! We had blueberry pie and chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Both were so delicious. This is a cozy place where everyone is having fun and the food is top notch. Not to be missed while in the area. We will be back very soon. read more

The waiter told us from lots of different readings and I'd assume traveling the owner/chef has come up with lots of different unique ideas for amazing combinations of food. The decor in this place is really unique as well with each hand-crafted table different from the next. There's a very welcoming vibe and it would seem like a regular place to go to if you're in the area. It was cold and rainy and they had 2 amazing soups of the day, mushroom and brie and chorizo and kale. A perfect start to warming us up after zip lining in the rain. I ordered the Moroccan bus station lunch and my friend ordered the crab and corn ramen in tomato soup broth and we shared. The Moroccan bus station lunch is similar to shakshuka with lots of different spices in the sauce and plenty of flavor in the lamb meatballs. The ramen noodles in tomato broth were interestingly delightful because the tomato broth wasn't too heavy and the flavor combinations with the crab worked so nicely together. The prices are great for the portions you get. We ended our meal in sharing the chocolate trifle and pumpkin crisp. You can taste a slight hint of booze in the trifle, but not too overpowering. The pumpkin crisp was tasty and paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to top it all off. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. read more

Stopped for a late lunch on our way to Portland. What a delightfully interesting menu! Took longer than it seemed it should have to get waited on in what seemed to be a slow time. Our table ordered the Indonesian peanut noodles, chicken saltimbocca and a steak quesadilla. The noodles were outstanding. Probably one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The plump shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the portion was generous but not too large. I had high expectations based on previous yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed at all.
