Just visiting Atlanta for work. We found GK by mistake while we were on our way to SG. Restaurant was lively and crowded so we thought we'd try our luck and fortunately got seated. Tomas was our server and he was fabulous! Gave us excellent recs. The showstopper for me was the skirt steak. Unique flavors and the steak is perfectly cooked to tender perfection. Do not leave GK without ordering it. And the Turkish spice cake for dessert. It's like tiramisu but better (if that's possible) ‍ I'll be dreaming about both for a long time. **SMASHING Small Plates** As luck would have it, a couple of friends and I ended up finding a spot, and decided to grab a couple of bites to eat. The service and vibe are so Buckhead. I came here with such high hopes and left with very mixed feelings. First and foremost, I was incredibly uncomfortable with how lax the staff and patrons have become with masking guidelines. There is a sign that indicates that masking is required but the staff was not wearing their masks properly and so many people dining here were walking around the restaurant unmasked and even walking into the restaurant without a mask on. We opted to sit in one of their outdoor dining sections that was basically empty although I did consider leaving completely at one point. Additionally, I have never had poorer service than I did here. Our server was either having a bad day or just did not want to be there. I personally cannot eat pork due to my dietary restrictions and we ordered one of their cheese and meat plates. We asked that the pork be plated separately and explained the dietary restrictions and our server rolled her eyes and said "yeah sure I guess that can be done". She did not check on us at all until another table seemed to request a new server, and even then, she seemed annoyed by our presence. I will say the food was so amazing. We ordered the patatas bravas, skirt steak, Brussel sprouts, lamb chops, and grilled octopus. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection and I highly recommend the food. However, the experience of dining here took away so much from the joy of being at Gypsy Kitchen. You may be better off using their curbside pickup option if you absolutely must eat here read more

Pleasantly surprised by this spot! Had a group of 6 for dinner and started with cocktails which were all delicious. We love a nice Arak cocktail and the blooms in valencia was tasty! We then shared a bunch of small plates, hummus, brussels, octopus, patatas bravas, mushrooms, falafel, lamb skewers, and my personal favorite the Moroccan hot chicken bites! The flavors were rich and everything was so well cooked. While it seems like we tried everything on the menu, there are still some options that we haven't tried that I will NEED to come back for. Gypsy kitchen has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Buckhead area! This was my second visit here and I couldn't want to get here and reorder what I had the first time. While this may not be the most Covid safe restaurant the food is great. They do ask their guest to wear masks as you walk through the restaurant but of course that isn't mandatory. Their menu is also available via QR code which is a plus! I had the lamb chops, chicken croquettes, the Brussels sprouts and a charcuterie board. We also had the dish that is comparable to chicken tenders. EVERYTHING that I've had here is amazing! I love also that they are quick with the food so that you can order a little, determine if you're full and order more if you're not. The drinks here are really good too! Our server was amazing in offering her advice towards certain dishes and drinks! The ambiance here is amazing! They have a great patio and can easily accommodate groups throughout the restaurant. Booked reservations on Open Table! We were seated on the outside patio which was heated and covered. The portions are fairly small. It was busy but not as busy as I thought it would for Valentine's Day. On several different occasions they brought the same food out to our table and several others around us 3-4 times which kind of got bothersome after awhile. We did ask the waitress why that was happening and she said "because there's several random tables out here", made no sense to us but, okay! First glance the menu is best suited for people with acquired tastes. Menu is divided into small plates and large plates. The portions are small. I don't eat a lot so I ended up getting 2 small plates: falafel and the hot chicken bites. Both really good. Service was great, always fast and friendly. We walked in without a reservation and were seated in the outdoor area which is the more popular area to sit (Indoor usually looks empty). The waitress checked on us often. The vibes were great. We had small charcuterie board, Brussel sprouts, octopus, skirt steak and beet salad. Definitely loved the charcuterie with the tomato spread and the onion jam along with the meats and cheeses. Octopus was really tender and delicious as was the skirt steak. Octopus has bitter notes, so be prepared, it was delicious but has an array of flavor and texture. Brussel sprouts were simple and delicious as were the beets. Food was not pretentious and has solid flavor. I'd come back to hang out with Taylor and definitely for the food. I decided to fly up to Atlanta to surprise my best friend for her 40th birthday. Her husband suggested this restaurant as one of her favorites and I can see why. The food was amazing. We had patatas bravas, octopus, beet salad, Mediterranean salad, croquetas de pollo. Garlic shrimp and a tabla. Everything was fresh and delicious. We shared all the plates amongst the group and we all left very satisfied. We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo and it was very smooth and delicious. I had Patatas Bravas, Mushroom Toast w. Farmer's Milk Cheese and Lamb Chops. So for 1 drink plus 3 tapas, I spent about $68.00. Do not leave here without trying the lamb chops. Seriously...I DID NOT SHARE THIS DISH. It was just that good. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I did not enjoy the Red Sangria. I was expecting it to be strong, however it tasted like old wine mixed with fruit. My friend bought me another drink, 3 Spring Sheets, and it was delicious! We parked in the parking deck. Happy hour at Gypsy Kitchen anyone? We noticed there are happy hour specials at Gypsy Kitchen so the girls got together to grab a bite to eat and most importantly, to get a drink or two. You can park in the parking deck for free with validation! Once you park and come up to the main level, you can take the separate elevator up to Gypsy Kitchen, next to the Southern Gentleman. I ordered a gin cocktail, the butterfly Betty. I wish I had ordered the gintonic which they serve on draft. The Butterfly Betty is mostly tasty, thanks to the elderflower. The cocktail was a bit heavy-handed on the creme de violete, although I usually like some in my aviation gin cocktails. Made for a pretty pastel purple drink, though! While cocktails weren't part of the happy hour menu, there were a few $5 wine specials on the menu, too. I was a little disappointed with the rosé sangria, since it wasn't anything special. It was definitely prettier than it tasted. We ordered some happy hour apps, too. The marcona spiced almonds were surprisingly tasty paired well with our drinks. The chicken croquettes deliciously seasoned, but I did wish there were more than just 3 per dish. Only $4 a dish, though. Finally, we decided to ordered the patatas bravas to make sure it soaked up the alcohol. They were hot and crispy. Overall, I definitely recommend Gypsy Kitchen for Happy Hour! After reading the reviews we decided to give it a shot and I'm glad we did! The staff was friendly and suggestive, drinks innovative, and the the real winner was the food, mainly small plates with exquisite flavor profiles. They supposedly validate your parking at the hostess stand- I gave her my ticket and she said she scanned it- I go to leave the garage and of course- she didn't validate it. Yes, I was heated, lol..... also, the valet person is telling people that the restaurant will validate parking for valet customers- THEY DO NOT VALIDATE valet. My friend kept trying to explain to them that valet is telling people that Gypsy Kitchen will validate and she asked the hostess if she could do anything to help and the hostess was like "I can write on your ticket "we do not validate", and I looked at her as if to say "what sense does that make when someone is asking for you to make an exception or any assistance?" A cool place with mediocre food. Portions are small, dishes are unmemorable, and pricing is less than desirable. I get that it's tapas and it's supposed to be small plates... however, there are other places that do tapas where the portions aren't as minuscule. Our table of four started with the rose sangria- that was good and pretty enjoyable. We ordered a few different tapas and they were all just okay which is disappointing for the price. What I do remember is the paella slightly having a weird taste, almost like something had gone bad or just too many flavors together that it has a slight garage taste to it? Unsure how to accurately describe. Service was good and the place itself promotes a fun, young atmosphere. My friend and I visited this restaurant this past week. I will start my review with the positives. Ambience is absolutely wonderful. The restaurant seemed fairly clean (though I jus realize they have some health violations). Their patio area (which is where we sat) sets the stage for what you think is going to be a great evening. The service and food were $200 worth of mediocrity. Our server asked if this was our first time and we said yes. In other restaurants I've been to, normally the waitress would talk about the menu, however this wasn't a normal restaurant. We started off ordering the drinks and upon asking the waitress for mixed drinks that were not sweet, she said there weren't any. Okay.... She claimed the bartender was a mixologist, so I requested to make me something that wasn't sweet with vodka. The drink I received was ladled with bitters and felt as though I was drinking syrup. Suffice to say...it went back. I then asked to make me one of their menu drinks without simple syrup and was told that the bartender cannot do that. Okay.... So I ended up without a drink. Onto the food. Most of it was either lukewarm or cold. Brussel sprouts though a bit over salted was probably the highlight of all the food we ordered. Grilled Skirt steak was rubber. I couldn't even swallow it bc it seemed to just be a cut of grisle. Croquetas de pollo Golden brown fried with an uncooked center. Roasted mushroom toast Cold mold flavored bread with chewy mushrooms. Seared Scallops Inconsistently cooked. Patatas Bravas Over dusted with smoked paprika Grilled octopus and Lamb chops were decent. Great place! I only tried tapas a handful of times and usually it's a hit or miss, but Gypsy Kitchen was great! I went with the reviews and got the duck al pastor and the grilled shrimp. Both were excellent! The duck al pastor was my favorite - super juicy and full of flavor. The server recommended at least 2-3 tapas per person, but since I wasn't really hungry I just got 2 and even took some to-go! They also have entrees here, but we didn't get any as the portion sizes were suited for more than 2 people. Definitely sit out on the patio if you can. If offers a great view of the city and would be a great place to chill at night. Drinks here were excellent as well. I got the rose sangria and it was delicious (if you like fruity drinks, def get this). Parking is easy. You can either valet or self park in the parking garage. They validate your parking up to 3 hours - just make sure you get the ticket from the host! If you park in the garage, take the elevator to the shops. After you're at the street level, find the valet parking stand and take the elevator up to the 2nd floor. The elevators open straight to the entrance of the restaurant. read more
