This used to be my spot but they changed up the menu so much that I don't like anymore, and usually the staff is great however I encountered a very rude hostess today who told me her name was RJ, but probably lied because at first she refused to tell me (since she knows she was being rude). Great place! I only tried tapas a handful of times and usually it's a hit or miss, but Gypsy Kitchen was great! I went with the reviews and got the duck al pastor and the grilled shrimp. Both were excellent! The duck al pastor was my favorite - super juicy and full of flavor. The server recommended at least 2-3 tapas per person, but since I wasn't really hungry I just got 2 and even took some to-go! They also have entrees here, but we didn't get any as the portion sizes were suited for more than 2 people. Definitely sit out on the patio if you can. If offers a great view of the city and would be a great place to chill at night. Drinks here were excellent as well. I got the rose sangria and it was delicious (if you like fruity drinks, def get this). Parking is easy. You can either valet or self park in the parking garage. They validate your parking up to 3 hours - just make sure you get the ticket from the host! If you park in the garage, take the elevator to the shops. After you're at the street level, find the valet parking stand and take the elevator up to the 2nd floor. The elevators open straight to the entrance of the restaurant. read more

We ordered the croquettes de pollo, skirt steak, the lettuce salad and the Brussels sprouts. EVERYTHING was delicious! I absolutely clean my plates- no shame in my game. I decided to just stick with water but my friend got the shades of purple drink- which she loved. Everything about this visit was good EXCEPT one thing..... the parking. They supposedly validate your parking at the hostess stand- I gave her my ticket and she said she scanned it- I go to leave the garage and of course- she didn't validate it. Yes, I was heated, lol..... also, the valet person is telling people that the restaurant will validate parking for valet customers- THEY DO NOT VALIDATE valet. My friend kept trying to explain to them that valet is telling people that Gypsy Kitchen will validate and she asked the hostess if she could do anything to help and the hostess was like "I can write on your ticket "we do not validate", and I looked at her as if to say "what sense does that make when someone is asking for you to make an exception or any assistance?" A cool place with mediocre food. Portions are small, dishes are unmemorable, and pricing is less than desirable. I get that it's tapas and it's supposed to be small plates... however, there are other places that do tapas where the portions aren't as minuscule. Our table of four started with the rose sangria- that was good and pretty enjoyable. We ordered a few different tapas and they were all just okay which is disappointing for the price. What I do remember is the paella slightly having a weird taste, almost like something had gone bad or just too many flavors together that it has a slight garage taste to it? Unsure how to accurately describe. Service was good and the place itself promotes a fun, young atmosphere. My friend and I visited this restaurant this past week. I will start my review with the positives. Ambience is absolutely wonderful. The restaurant seemed fairly clean (though I jus realize they have some health violations). Their patio area (which is where we sat) sets the stage for what you think is going to be a great evening. The service and food were $200 worth of mediocrity. Our server asked if this was our first time and we said yes. In other restaurants I've been to, normally the waitress would talk about the menu, however this wasn't a normal restaurant. We started off ordering the drinks and upon asking the waitress for mixed drinks that were not sweet, she said there weren't any. Okay.... She claimed the bartender was a mixologist, so I requested to make me something that wasn't sweet with vodka. The drink I received was ladled with bitters and felt as though I was drinking syrup. Suffice to say...it went back. I then asked to make me one of their menu drinks without simple syrup and was told that the bartender cannot do that. Okay.... So I ended up without a drink. Onto the food. Most of it was either lukewarm or cold. Brussel sprouts though a bit over salted was probably the highlight of all the food we ordered. Grilled Skirt steak was rubber. I couldn't even swallow it bc it seemed to just be a cut of grisle. Croquetas de pollo Golden brown fried with an uncooked center. Roasted mushroom toast Cold mold flavored bread with chewy mushrooms. Seared Scallops Inconsistently cooked. Patatas Bravas Over dusted with smoked paprika Grilled octopus and Lamb chops were decent. Just all around amazing. We tried almost everything on the tapas menu for a group of 6. We demolished all of them so inventive, flavorful and plentiful. Found this place on Yelp. We wanted to eat something different. The menu and photos told me, ehh this will be different. Small plates and good drinks. I love the atmosphere here, the place is low lit and the décor is intriguing. We had 20 minutes left before the kitchen closed so we ordered everything we wanted right fast. I ordered: Crimini Mushrooms - They were cooked well and had flavor but lacked seasoning greatly. Garlic Shrimp - Cooked perfectly, were slightly cold, could taste the garlic but lacked seasoning. Grilled Spanish Octopus - Tender, the bite was great, the char was too much and overpowered the dish, and yes also lacked seasoning. My Big Sis ordered: Blistered Roulette Peppers - These shits were definitely tricky. Some were easy to bite and chew, some were inedible. Some were sweet and some was knock your damn socks off hot. LOL. That was a mess. Would not order these again period. Charred Brussel Sprouts - Deliciously prepared, We all love Brussels and these didn't disappoint us. This was the only did that we didn't ass salt too. Cocoa Dusted Scallop - Slightly undercooked on some of the scallops, Could be due to the different thickness of them, lacked flavor and seasoning. Dish wasn't appetizing at all to me but once they added salt they were able to finish the cooked pieces. Lamb Kefta Tagine - The sauce and the meatballs were very tasty. This was a table favorite. The only thing with a good flavor profile. The smell of this dish took over the whole table. There was no salt added to this dish either. My Baby Sis ordered: Duck al Pastor - really good dish. We all loved the flavor of these. Served with 3 tortillas so we all had a really good taste for it to be a small plate. I would order this dish again. Cocoa Dusted Scallops - See above review of them but all of hers were cooked properly. Gypsy Fried Chicken: Didn't impress us much. Only ate a couple pieces and the rest ended up in a togo container. We enjoyed the dipping sauces more than the chicken. Maybe it was because it was the end of the night or something. Gypsy Kitchen is my go to bar when I'm in the area. My favorite cocktail is their Seville Rose cocktail ~ a vodka, rose infused drink with real rose petals sprinkled on top. For the most part, when I've gone, the establishment has been fairly full with a good crowd of people. The vibe is chill, but sometimes finding a seat in the bar area isn't the easiest. I haven't ordered many items from the menu, but the charcuterie board never disappoints. It comes with a variety of cheeses, meats and a delicious onion jelly. I dined at Gypsy kitchen for the first time on 10/30. It was a phenomenal experience! It was more than just dinner it was an entire experience. I came here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. Our waiter was amazing he welcomed us right away gave us many good suggestions and honestly told us we hat to stay away from (whole heartedly appreciated him keeping it real). Once he realized it was one of our birthdays he brought us all a glass of champagne, we played a game that involved a glass porron (google it) and for dessert we had warm churros (All on the house). Needless to say we had a BLAST. This experience has won me over for sure. They definitely know how to treat their guests And the Food!!!!!! Omg so good. I had the fried chicken. I visited Gypsy Kitchen for the first time on Saturday. It was my friend's birthday and she wanted to have some drinks on the rooftop. Originally, she wanted to go to The Regency, but they were only accepting a limited amount of people, so we opted for Gypsy Kitchen. Another friend went and grabbed a table at Gypsy Kitchen. They were able to seat us at 10:55 P.M. We were all seated and greeted by Alyssa, our waitress. All we wanted to order were drinks, as we had dined at another location. My friend wanted to take some shots and asked Alyssa what was available. She was unaware and had to go check with the bartender. She came back and told us the liquor options at the bar. So our party ordered a variety of shots and drinks. I opted for the 50 shades of Purple. It was okay. It wasn't as strong as I would have liked. People decided to order another round of drinks. Alyssa took the orders, but when she came back, she stated "the bar was closed and she had to beg the bartender to put in that order of drinks." Alyssa never indicated Gypsy Kitchen was closing. Even on their website, it is unclear and states they close "late." She even mentioned, they are usually open much later than that and wasn't sure when the hours of operation changed. We asked to speak to the manager and she said she would go get him. When she returns, there was no manager and told us "he didn't care because he just turned in his two weeks notice." Also, she stated, "the manager just did what he wanted to do and changed the hours that night." Alyssa even proceeded to say, "she only works there on the weekends, so she doesn't know what's going on." Clearly there is a lack of communication amongst the staff. After the manager no showed and the staff proceeded to clean up, she just brought out everyone's check. When she brought out the first round of checks, the checks didn't include gratuity. Once people had paid and she brought out the customer and merchant copies, 20% gratuity was added. She claimed the system added it "automatically," but there was no prior knowledge of them adding gratuity. No one had a problem paying gratuity, but it's the principle that it was never mentioned and just done without any prior knowledge. Overall, this was a terrible first experience. The customer service was unacceptable. From Alyssa not knowing any information to just adding gratuity to our checks to the manager not even showing his face, this was not a great experience for us and I highly doubt we would return in the future unless some drastic changes happen. Thankfully, the manager turned in his two weeks notice because this place definitely needs a new manager/management. If you decide to go here, you've been warned. This was definitely an underwhelming experience. read more

Had a great time at Gypsy Kitchen this weekend for my birthday. Went Sunday night and sat outdoors. Service was good and upbeat music made for very nice vibes. Food was delicious -- we had a wide range of meat boards as well as small plate tapas and a large course (pictured below), all of which we shared. We also had the Rosé Sangria which was great and Prosecco. We also two desserts which were good as well. If anything, I think the small plate tapas are small in size for the given price. They could add more portions for the price they charge. Nonetheless, I loved the experience and would definitely go back soon! read more

We came here before a Flamenco show and figured it would be appropriate. That being said, this was like the 3rd Spanish/tapas restaurant the family has been to in 3 weeks. So we had a pretty good idea what we wanted to order. Of course the Patatas Bravas and the several Spanish cheese plates. They had a really good Chicken Croquettes. We ordered like 3 of those. The Grilled Skirt Steak was also a hit as well as the Lamb Chops. We also had Lamb Skewers, but should have had another round of Lamb Chops. I also ordered the 16oz Ribeye. Unfortunately it was not as flavorful (almost like it wasn't salted before grilling) as the tapas and for the price we would have been better off getting more tapas. This place is popular though. The patios were packed and the bar was as well. It's a great hangout. But that also means it can get a little loud inside. The service was on point for us. Overall good experience but doesn't match our other Spanish restaurant experiences of the past few weeks. read more

The service was good too and we got our orders taken care of upon arrival. My only issue is that on the menu, there is a dessert item titled "Coconut Milk Malabi" and then the description says that it's an 'israeli milk pudding...' It is actually Palestinian and many Middle Eastern/Arab countries make that dish that existed long before Israel existed (prior to 1948). read more

I came here with a group of about 10 for a dinner on a Friday. The place was definitely busy but because of the layout it still felt intimate because the tables weren't crammed together. This would definitely be a good date night spot with the mood lighting they have. In keeping with their small tapas theme we ended up ordering multiple plates and sharing them. I tried the tirokroketes - fried goat cheese balls with an almond Romesco sauce and they were delicious. We also got to try three out of four of their desserts (cheesecake, chocolate tart, and tiramisu) and they were all quite good but the cheesecake was the clear winner - excellent. It's Buckhead so the prices felt on par with what you'd pay for any other restaurant in the area. Service was solid. The waitress attending to us was attentive without being intrusive and managed to keep tabs on our table as more people came to join. When she saw someone else joined she would check in and see what they wanted. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the area. Good food and good vibes. read more

I work for an international finance company and had employees visiting from Costa Rica. I wanted them to experience a nice restaurant in Buckhead with great views. It was one of my employees first time leaving her country so she really loved the experience of dining here. We dined tonight and took a chance without a reservation. The hostess put us at a great table on the patio with skyline views. A nice treat for my employees that live in small towns in Central America. Service and food were top notch. Our table ordered the Pinot Gris. It was perfectly paired for the seafood paella, the grilled chicken, the fried chicken and the patatas bravas. The larger entrees of paella and grilled chicken were generous and plenty for sharing. We loved all the food. The waitress and manager warmly welcomed my foreign employees and comped a chocolate dessert for them to share. We also ordered the churros and coffee. They were awesome! The chocolate mousse cake had some type of pepper in it that was just amazing! I have now dined at both Gypsy Kitchen and Southern Gentlemen multiple times and experienced consistently great service and food.
