Perfect for a date night or an interactive dinner or lunch! I came around 3pm on Saturday! We were able to take advantage of Happy hour that goes until 7pm I believe! We were able to get all this food for $47 each! There was sooo much food I was stuffed! Wings and rice were additional! The beef rice was absolutely worth adding! The miso wings were not my favorite but I will try another flavor! The service was very quick. Our server came over multiple times!

Overall a pretty chaotic experience. We went for lunch on Monday and it was pretty busy but had some open tables. We waited for about 10 minutes at the front before being seated due to the waitstaff needing to clean tables and take care of things. Once seated, it was all over the place as the waitresses all were running around everywhere. Once we ordered, they lit the flame and brought the grill and the raw meat but didn't give us anything else. We had to wait to get utensils, napkins, and tongs to cook the meat. Once we started cooking, the grill was already burnt due to being on for a while. That gave the meat an extra char that we didn't want and caused the flames to light up pretty big. The food itself was pretty good, especially great value for the lunch special. However, the staff doesn't appear to be trained well as they were running around and forgetting things. Most of the guests were waiting around for them. It's more convenient to go to this location but may just go to Addison if really craving them.

I personally really enjoyed coming to this place. It's fairly akin to bbq places in Japan. If you're used to Korean bbq, this is a totally different style. Korean meats have lots of sauces and fattier cuts. The Japanese bbq focuses on the prime meat cuts and the embracing the natural rich flavor. A forewarning: A party of 6+ means cramped quarters and only 1 cooking stove so be prepared doe that! I decided to try the A5 Wagyu beef. It: $49 for 5 pieces but absolutely worth it! Do NOT overcook this cut! If you do, you ruin the flavor and magical delicious marbling. The flavor makes your toes curl up in sheer delight from rich indulgence. My group was a party of 7 so we got the Gyu-Kaku Feast which is set for 7 people. Let me tell you, that's MORE than enough for a party of 6. You get 2 salads, 2 soups, 2 beef fried rice and a fantastic selection of beef cuts and vegetables. Oh and also servings of shrimp and pork belly. The ending is some deserts where you place them over the flames beneath the grill to enjoy. Overall it's a lovely experience and a great place to go for a date or a fun family outing.

Kim is a fantastic server! She kept our table so clean, checked in on us a couple of times, made sure we are good to go and we left full!! Normally we would go to the Addison location but we were wanting to try this location and it's the best!!!! Food is excellent as always. Ice cream is still rock hard Hahahahah but it's an inside joke between my bf and I. Looking to celebrate many more memories here! Thanks Kim for making our anniversary special

Gyu-kaku is the first Japanese BBQ restaurant I've tried! For a barbecue restaurant, there was very little to no smoke smell. The meats were decent quality. However, the overall meal was not too memorable for me. The pricing is on the higher side as well. In general, I prefer Korean BBQ, so I would not come here again, but it was a nice experience to try.

Ambiance was dark and moody it was perfect for our anniversary. Service was great and would definitely come back everyone was very kind and accommodating. Our server was super sweet and even offered to adjust my drinks if requested. Made a reservation online for 7pm on a Monday and skipped the rush we were nearly the only ones but that was fine with us. Happy hour is every Monday all day, but we did the Chefs favorite. Everything came out steadily yet fast which was perfect we were hungry. The sauces they had were ponzu, sweet soy, and another spicy one at the table. Ordered three drinks 1. Mango mai tai: sweet, but pretty good and a great start not too strong 2. Cocomo: by far my favorite, refreshing and creamy in the best way. 3. Lychee mojito: pretty good, quite similar to cocomo but I prefer cocomo Overall for course: was perfect amount of food for us, didn't want no more or less. Portions were reasonably sized considering the numerous options. All the meat was tasty and beautiful. Can't wait to come back.

I've been here twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. Overall this place is yummy food wise. Love the interior of this place, service was great. Personally I prefer coming for lunch vs dinner only for the fact that it's less busy. The food comes out quick and I love all the marinated options with the meats. My only gripe is the pricing.... They have many different combinations but not a build your one. You can only do that by a la carte and if you don't come for happy hour it can get pricey fast. Just wish is was either all you can eat or if the packages were more customizable. Still this isn't something that will deter me from coming back. Also the spicy miso is by far my favorite marinade here.

I've been here a couple times and keep forgetting to add a review! There are options for you to pick. You can pick to eat with the 2-4 people package deals, a la carte, or the AYCE option. My fiancé and I usually do the AYCE. My favorite meat to get is the Umakara Ribeye, it's super flavorful and tender. There are a lot more meat that are good too! The sides I always get is the spicy cabbage and the addicting cucumbers. They also have a online reward system for you to signup.

I enjoyed my experience here! It is smaller restaurant, and I find it less stressful than eating at Korean barbecue, which usually are really busy and smoky due to the grills. Dining reservation is necessary, but I found it helpful in - you don't have to wait and you can maximize your 90 minute allotment. We ordered from the premium section and that was plenty of food! We tried all types of meat and seafood as well as their vegetable sides. Their grills are nice too in that they are not smoky, which makes grilling the meat easier in my opinion. Their green tea ice cream was great as well as the s'mores.

We got the baby octopus bibimbap with the steamed egg and bulgogi bibimbap with the tofu soup. The banchan was also really fresh and the kimchi really stood out. The portions were huge! I love that the bibimbap comes out on a flat sizzling pan to maximize the crunchy rice you get from it. The baby octopus was delicious and had great flavor. The steamed egg had a spongy texture which and was also really flavorful. The tofu soup was not as thick as some that you might get but it had a really good savory flavor that you can taste in the soup. It was overall a real great experience and a great value if you're going at lunch. Definitely adding to our regular rotation.

Even before the star of the meal appeared, kudos to the smattering of banchan that came out: sprouts, cucumber kimchi, sweet potato, mini meat patties, kimchi, steamed egg, tofu soup, salad greens seasoned, cheese + corn... I hope I didn't miss any! The mushroom bibimbap is flavorful! We've never had this particular bibimbap before and man it goes well with the meat. Beef rib was tender and nice. We wanted it a bit rare :) and it was delish! Dipping sauce was nice but honestly doesn't need it! Oh and the grilled mushroom is good with it. Pork belly was the star of the meal. Had it with 2 week aged grilled kimchi (so special!!) and we got samjang with it, yummm. We were stuffed to the rim and had to take a little box of leftovers home. We were so touched with a little desert rice drink at the end, really rounded out the meal and experience all together. A+ for the service. Amazing job and everything grilled to perfection.

I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant with the large mural of a Hawaiian beach and simple island decor peppered throughout. The restaurant is also very clean. I also was fairly happy with the portion sizes for the chicken dishes. The vegetables in the Hawaiian plates were cooked very well and were really good complements with the lunch meals. What didn't work for me: The decoration alone is where this stopped feeling like a Hawaiian restaurant. The Hawaiian plates felt more Asian inspired rather than true Hawaiian inspired. The flavor is excellent, don't get me wrong, but I felt it was a bit of an identity crisis. The Beef BBQ short rib pieces were fatty and overcooked. I had only a few tender bites of beef but the rest was so chewy and fatty that I had to spit it out. Also only had 6-7 pieces of short rib for a $20 plate which I didn't really feel was worth it. The chicken katsu was crispy however I didn't care for the quality of the chicken meat. It was very stringy and tough to bite through in some areas. I was very much looking forward to the macaroni salad but it was just fine. I had high hopes for this one but it just wasn't creamy enough to blow me away. If you have ever visited a Hawaiian island and ever felt like you needed a fix of that memorable vacation, this place won't bring you back to those island memories but you will still be treated very well from a very kind staff. Their attitude is very aloha however I hope one day I can take a bite of their meal and be transported back to island vibes. I would recommend this place if you want solid Asian flavors, but not Hawaiian island specific flavors.

It truly is the best beard I have ever had before. I would come eat here again JUST FOR THE BREAD. The crab cake is out of this world. Huge jumbo clumps. Also comes with a variety of sauces. The wasabi one was our favorite. You must order the crab cake! My husband got the ribeye rare and said it was the best steak he has had, and he eats a ton of steak.
