Gary is great. I took my 03 Hybrid in for him to check out some hoses that Power Honda had quoted me $300+ to change. I was needing a second opinion on my car after taking it to Honda Auto Nation around the corner. I was able to stop by H&A Auto after work one day. I had been hearing a sound from my brakes and Jeff took several steps to try and figure out what it was. He even showed me what the brakes looked like and the brake pads and assured me there was nothing wrong with them. I was there for about an hour and a half and he didn't charge me anything! Any other mechanic out there could have easily upsold me on something I didn't need or charge me for inspecting the car. I really appreciated that Jeff did not do that and he valued me as a customer. Gary is the guy I go to whenever I have problems with my vehicle. No gimmicks or shady business here. He has also been straight forward and the prices from him are the best. I've done my share of calling for prices and estimates and he had the best. He did tell me one day that he wanted to retire and I feel sadness from that because I may never find a auto repair shop quite like his. I can't say how long and even good things never last forever. He was beyond honest and fairly priced and in this time, my entire family has begun using him for their cars as well. Mind you, we all drive down from West LA to go to H&A. The people here are so well informed. We took our Lexus to the Newport dealership and they quoted us at over $800 for service. We brought the car to Gary and H&A and they looked at the list and only 1 of the MANY things listed on there actually needed to get done. Since then, we have brought our cars here. The owner, Gary, is extremely nice and knowledgeable. Took my car for a test drive and knew exactly what was wrong with it. He did a wonderful job on my clutch and fixed all the oil leaks in my 98 Prelude. At first he thought he broke something during the repair, so he told me that he already paid for and ordered the broken part that was $350!! He is very honest and I respect that. Gary's a pro and knows almost everything on any car. Whether it's altered with aftermarket parts, he knows what to do to make the car ride well. I brought the first car that I owned to him and I knew he wasn't overcharging for the service he provided. He went straight to work and new exactly what was wrong on the car. He'll even give you a good rough estimate and quote over the phone which was more settling than most car repair places that want you to drive out and can't give much information over the phone. My Toyota 4 Runner had a problem with a corroded battery terminal cable. My car wouldn't start and AAA thought I needed to order an expensive new cable. H&A got everything quickly cleaned up and working good without the expense and wait for a special order cable. Highly recommend. read more

I went there over the weekend for oil change and I like their service. They are a little bit pricy and they don't have deals/discount and I paid more than I used to pay other places but it was a quick and clean service. The mechanic that works on my car was honest and he told me what I need to do for next time or for future and I like his opinion. I will definitely try them again. read more

My brakes was making noises even when I wasn't stepping on the brake, so I was looking to get it fixed that same day. I normally go to Corner 3 Garage (which I also highly recommend), but they couldn't schedule me for a few days, so I decided to look around and found this place. Gary said he could take care of it if I was available then, so I immediately drove over and had the problem taken care of. They used OEM parts, which was one thing I was looking for. Corner 3 Garage did tell me what would be a fair price if I were going to another mechanic, and this place is in line with that price. I'll have to elaborate more on my computer instead of my phone, but I took my Accord here a few months back because of a small transmission leak. Gary spent several hours diagnosing the problem and tightening bolts to try to resolve the leak with an easy fix (and saving me $$). But alas, the issue was not an easy fix. Gary is awesome. You can trust this shop to know what they're doing, be honest, and fair. Always had a positive experience. I took my RSX-S here for the last couple years I owned it. It had an electrical problem no one could figure out, but Gary fixed it. When he knew investigating (pulling apart) my car further to find the root problem he called me to ask if I wanted him to proceed, because I asked him to call if it would start costing more money (hours, etc) to continue. When I said I couldn't afford it, he offered a work around so my car would stop dying on me. I went with that and it never died on me again. Totally honest mechanic and thorough I went to the dealer to get an estimate and was told I might as well junk my vehicle. After leaving the dealer completely bummed. I highly recommend H&A Auto! I was having a intermittent squeak with my Toyota and was told by the Dealership it was the tensioner belt and was going to cost 475.00 to fix. I procrastinated because it was off and on but when it started to be everyday I knew it had to be fixed. A friend of mine recommended Jeff and so my husband and I popped in that day and he and Kris looked at it right away. While we were taking with Jeff, Kris filled up my windshield washer fluid and cleaned off my battery connectors that were dirty. In addition to loving his work, and being very good at it, Gary is friendly and he smiles! What mechanic do you know genuinely does that!? He was also very quick. I dropped my truck off in the late evening just before he closed. He called me the next morning to advise if I wanted to go through with the repair, and then his assistant called me back at 1pm to tell me it was finished. After getting quotes to get a diagnostic test (to see what was wrong with my '93 Toyota pick-up) from the Toyota dealership ($100), Pepboys ($97), Midas ($65), Gary's quote was the cheapest ($40) and he even said he would include that cost in any repairs. And then he did exactly what he said and only charged me a minimal fee for repairs in addition to the parts. read more

I have Gary worked on my 2002 Acura 3.2TL on 2 occasions. First was, when I was having a problem with my A/C (a smoke-like kind of explosion happened under the hood). I brought it to Cerritos Acura. They told me that I need a new A/C compressor and it will cost me $800.00 for the part alone. That check-up cost me $120.00. I didn't have that $800.00 but I have to find a way to have it fixed. I brought to Gary and after checking the A/C system, he told me that I do not have any problem with my compressor. He said that a line valve has to be replaced (that's where the smoke-like coolant escaped from the A/C system) and that will only cost me only a few dollars. That is the start of my trust on him. He is an honest person, a very honest mechanic. He used to work for an Acura dealership but before he left his employment with that dealership, he learned the ins and outs of an Acura, Honda and Toyota automobiles. He is the best "Acura Specialist". Trust your Acura to him. He can easily diagnose your car problems fast and accurate, without guessing. The 2nd time was when my headlight went dead. It will cost me more than $500.00 for the part (HID headlight inverter) alone. He helped me find a used genuine Acura inverter. I picked it up from a salvage dismantler (6 miles away) I told him that I travelled 35 miles and I have to wait for the car. He got out of his way to service my car so I don't have to wait that long. At no time, the headlight was fixed and working. He just charged me a very reasonable service fee. I am giving him a 5 star rating for what and how he is on fixing my Acura. He is a very friendly person too. read more

I appreciate that he takes appointments, gives a discount if bill is paid by cash and notified me of another problem but didn't apply any pressure for me to have it fixed right away. Gary doesn't say much, but he says what needs to be said. Solved a problem that a Honda dealership could not, in less than an hour. He isn't the cheapest, but he is the best. If you want it done right, and honestly, choose this shop. Nobody likes to pay for car repair, and often it feels like you are just holding your wallet open; However, Gary doesn't gouge or upsell you, which is a nice change. He will tell you if something is looking "iffy" -- but, that is totally on you to act upon it. read more

Great service as always. Back in November I took my 2000 Toyota Tacoma in and swapped motors, and was able to get a brand new motor for a great price all thanks to Jeff.
