A toast for the Holidays... Literally one of my favorite stops at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market is Hā'awi toast + tea, as they bougie up their toast with great various toppings that makes it so hard to decided though with the upcoming holiday I was thrilled to see their "Holiday Special" Be ready for a slight wait for just a few minutes as toast gets toasted...literally but it's so worth the wait as the toast is layered with Marascapone & Cream Cheese mix, Cranberry Relish and topped with a candied lemon...what a stunning presentation that's almost to cute to eat but what flavor that screams the holidays so delicate yet packs great flavor. They are located near the back end of the market and they do have some seating there provided by the market as well so you'll be brunch ready for the day. Thank you!

Super nice couple. The food is amazing buy multiple if you can. It looks small but it's made with love and absolutely perfect. you'll want more.

Mango Toast on one side and Pineapple Toast with li hing powder on the other side. I wanted to do a comparison :)

Ha'awi Toast & Tea is a family run business that pops up at the Saturday Kakaako Farmers Market. They are located on the makai (ocean) side of the market. Mother toasts the bread. Father puts the toast together. Daughter takes orders and expedites. I love their Mango Toast. Thick slice of bread griddled on a flat top, with a mixture of Mascarpone, cream cheese and lemon zest. Then comes the luscious mango (that they are somehow able to source for a good part of the year) garnished with a sprig of mint and an edible flower. When they don't have mango available, it switches over to Pineapple Toast. The first time I tried the Pineapple Toast I mused on IG that it would be awesome with li hing powder on top. The following week, they brought some powder. Yup. Killer combo! It's not available on the regular menu, you need to ask for da powder. I also order their iced tea. The father in this team was the Wine Director for Alan Wongs restaurant and he has created an iced tea with complex flavors that is both refreshing and flavorful. Give it a try! I also like to order their corn salsa take out container and their cheesy croutons to take home.

Mango toast... get the mango toast. It's the best item on their menu. The bread for the mango toast is lightly toasted on the grill with butter, it has a layer of mascarpone cheese and is topped with chunks of local mangoes. They have a vendor that supplies them with mangoes year-round so the mangoes on the toast are always sweet and juicy. The kalua pork toast was also good, but I wish it had a little more smoke flavor. They also make a really good iced green tea so get one of those to go with your toast. The price for the toast ranges between $6-$7. It is pricey for that small portion, but it is very good and it's worth it. I recommend going to the Kakaako Farmer Market early on Saturday morning if you want their mango toast. The wait time to order is short, 5 minutes or less, but the time to prepare your food is about 20 minutes. Sometimes it can take up to 30 minutes depending on how long the line is. I use those 20 minutes to check out the other vendors nearby. They are located in the back of the market near Ahui Street across from Izu's Mochi.

I was prepared to love this spot but i wasn't prepared to be knocked unconscious by how absolutely delicious it was! I got the Mango Toast ($7) which was super fresh and sweet, and i loved that the mascarpone cream cheese was light & creamy but also a little tart from the lemon. The Eggplant TOast ($6) BLEW ME AWAY. The eggplant was so soft and melted in my mouth, and the caramelized onions, garlic and parmesan cheese with the tomato sauce is literally the biggest umami bomb in your mouth that will leave you speechless. The toast has a nice chew to it and almost had a tartness to it that paired perfectly with the sweet and savory versions! the toasts are pretty small (like the size of my hand) but PACKED with so much flavor. I am definitely making that spot a regular at my Kaka'ako Farmers Market route now!

...but wait, how can toast be THIS GOOD?!?!? Tbh I've avoided checking out this spot for the longest time because I thought I could make decorative toasts at home. But no- these are not JUST decorative toasts. They're the MOST FREAKING DELICIOUS AND GORGEOUS TOASTS I'VE HAD IN MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE. My friend and I decided to get one savory and one sweet toast. The savory one we opted for was the eggplant toast ($6), which was a pleasant mix of eggplant, onions, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and Italian tomato sauce. It was so flavorful. All of the flavors were perfectly balanced too :') the sweet one we opted for was the mango toast ($7), which was topped with lemon-infused sweet mascarpone, cream cheese, and fresh mango cubes. This was divine! Both toasts were created on a base of buttered and perfectly toasted bread from La Tour Bakery. Sadly, it'll be a while before I get to indulge in these again, so I'm actively finding a way to replicate these and put my own spin on them. Stay posted for the results ;)

SUPER friendly staff, amazing mango toast, a little bit of a wait. Expect to wait 15-20 minutes for your toast but it does NOT disappoint. My friends drive from across the island for this every Saturday and then go right back home. Today I found out why! Super super delicious- 10/10 recommend

Good flavor. Not too strong of a flavor. You are still able to taste the flavor of the toast itself. Couple things to consider - price is kind of steep for a piece of toast with eggplant - the eggplant did still have that bitter flavor that comes out when you don't soak it long enough. Wasn't strong enough to detract from the overall flavor but it was a still there. Would I go back... Probably not. But I am sure there are people willing to pay that price for eggplant on toast.

    Avocado Toast

Nice food stall at the Kaka'ako Farmer's Market. The food does take a while to come out, but it's worth it. The Avocado Toast was delicious but a bit messy. They put a nice amount of avocado and corn salsa on it. The Mango Toast is also highly recommended.

I originally stopped by for tea at the Kaka'Ako farmers market, but had to try the toast because it smelled great. The eggplant toast was excellent! Similar to stewed eggplant but still had a good bite to it and lots of flavor (maybe a tomato/curry base?). The bread was perfectly buttered, crisped outside, fluffy inside (like milk-toast). It also paired very well with the refreshing ginger-peach-mint-honey iced tea. This could easily be a successful food truck and I hope to try this again when on my next visit to Oahu!

I discovered this place while frequenting the farmers market at Kakaako. I have zero self control when it comes to avocado toast, so when I walked by their stall I knew I had to try it. One bite, and I knew I'll be coming back for more. The toast has a soft crispy buttery texture and the avocados tasted fresh and creamy. The corn on top added a nice, subtle sweet crunchy touch. You can find them at Kakaako Farmers Market every Saturday morning, and the toast was $5. They also serve different types of toast other than avocado. They have tea too, which I will make sure to try next time.

While we have some great Hawaiian garlic shrimp spots in Arizona, we had to at least try to get some garlic shrimp while on Oahu. We gave this place a try just because we were already in the building. It wasn't a choice we made prior because honestly, I would have suggested trying a more well-known spot like two miles away, haha! We shared a $14 Shrimp with Original Garlic sauce on it and made it a combo with rice, a scoop of potato mac salad, and regular salad, $14 + $6. Sam's Kitchen was okay. I would have loved to have the shell-on but this place does not offer shell-on shrimp. Still, they make a decent garlic shrimp.

We knew we were only going to get one hotdog just to try it out. When we were ready to put in our order, I placed it in with the male worker. As I was saying my order to the worker, my boyfriend had walked away to the side to wait for me. When I finished putting in my order, the worker had asked me if it would have been just one or two hotdogs. I answered him by saying yes just one. Which he then responded by saying, "what, would he rather have a pho?" Clearly seeing my boyfriend was Asian, that was his question for us just getting one hotdog. He said it as if it was funny. I left it alone and waited for the order. I just don't get the point of him having to say that. He didn't even pronounce "pho" right either, he pronounced it as "foe." As for the hotdog itself, it is good. It is on the pricier side of $11 for one but for the price you get with the bun, polish sausage and toppings, it made it for it. Lower stars because of the overall impression.

We were able to park in the free little lot for customers within about an hour of them closing on a Monday, though I'm not sure how busy that lot usually is.

During my boyfriend's transaction, he didn't realize it was cashless, and the employee, Mitchel T, repeatedly pressured him to put his cash in the tip jar - mentioning things like a ski trip and family to convince him to hand the cash over as tip. It quickly became uncomfortable. When picking up our first order (2 platters, 2 drinks), the same employee asked if I could carry everything. I said I'd try, but instead of giving me the drinks, he handed me only the 2 platters and angrily sighed before setting the drinks back down. As I went back for the drinks, he instead handed me the remaining two platters. I turn to set those down and while doing so I guess he thought now I would be able to handle carrying 2 platters and 2 drinks. Because I didn't grab the drinks this second go around, the worker called me a "F***ING IDIOT." Other customers also expressed how rudely treated they were at this location. We spent nearly $100 to be treated with hostility. Completely unacceptable.
