Let me just say that the food is delicious, well, the chicken shawarma wrap since that's all I've ever had. And I've only ever ordered delivery services. But lack of stars is for lack of consistency. I called yesterday before placing an online order thru UberEats and clarified what came in it and sauces on the side, etc. and then decided to order the wrap with additional veggies inside + sauces on the side -- sure, no problem, we got you!! It was so good I ordered again today and BAM! $3 upcharge. Out of nowhere! For what now? Why is today more expensive than yesterday for the exact same meal? Man, I had my hopes up on this one. I'll try to keep this short. Ordered to go, was told 25 mins, took 50. That's fine not a big deal. Less than 5 min drive home and food was room temperature. Ordered chicken kabob and kofta kabob. Chicken very dry, kofta was just ground beef, no herbs or spices, just grey meat, pretty sure not even salt or pepper. Like I can't find one green thing. Side salad was a tiny portion and bland with no seasoning or anything. Then the naan. The naan was like HEB hill country fair cardboard naan. So sad. Oh well, maybe it's all good reviews for the hookah. read more

In town for work... was stoked to find kabobs available for delivery.... I ordered a few things to last me a couple of days while I'm here... chicken kabobs, sufiha and falafel sandwich. Sadly the sufiha was 90% completely raw, so I though ok kabobs it is... Chicken was super bland as was the rice, although the chicken was cooked perfectly.. The winner of the entire order was the falafel sandwich and the garlic sauce, both were on point. The sandwich was dark in some parts but that didn't bother me it added a nice element of crunch without any bitter burnt taste. I will say the portion sizes were good for the prices. I came around lunch time on a Sunday. Wasn't very busy at all but casually speaking with a few of the regulars it can get pretty crowded in the afternoon and evening during the week. The food was hot, fresh, and made to order. The waitress, hostess, and cashier was one charming young lady. She was very helpful and explained the differences in bread selection. She made an off the menu recommendation after confirming with the kitchen. I got the chicken plate but as a wrap on a type of thinner pita as recommended. The rice was just a type of long grain not heavily seasoned. The same could be said about the cucumber and tomatoe salad. I used the salad top the sliced rolls of my wrap and it was very good. I also got the baba eggplant spread appetizer too. That was very good on everything. Lastly I got the mint lemonade which was like an frozen lemonade. It was a little sweet for me but I'm not much for sweet. As it melted it perfect with everything else. My mother got the gyro wrap with fries and she was happy with hers. They nailed the lamb blend on the pita. The I would warn is that it is also a hookah bar. So for those with allergies this may not be a good place. The music was unusually goof for a random sunday, but judging the interaction between staff and regulars, everyone seems to work well together and enjoys being at work. That reflects in the over feel and care put into each plate. I just wish there was more garlic...on everything. Definitely going to go again. After dining at Paloma Blanca for Restaurant Week, I decided to delve deeper into a friend's backyard territory when I happened upon this unique cafe. I knew this was the place to hookah out when you felt the urge. Upon entering it was real dark in there with just one older Turkish man and probably his grandson who is the owner. Behind the counter was a beautiful Turkish beauty haha :). I ordered one small cup of Turkish coffee. It was smooth but bitter with hints of something (maybe mint?) I need sugar in my coffee sorry and this cup was so small it is not made to add sugar. Footnote: a whole pot is only $2 more and the fact that the grounds are in the coffee, I suggest just getting the pot option. And never stir your coffee like I did, or you will be spitting up grounds for hours. I thought I loved coffee but I just cannot tolerate black coffee yet and this exotic coffee, I may never acquire a taste for it. But that said, the place was clean and I really like the outdoor patio, which I may revisit in the heart of winter and get that full pot with "creme and sugar," and maybe my first falafel like my friend gets when he dines here. As-salamu alaykum, Habibi Cafe! This place is an Alamo Heights gem! They serve up authentic shisha (hookahs) with different flavors and mixtures. There's plenty of comfortable seating and free wi-fi, so you can hang out, smoke it up and get some work done. They have a limited menu of middle-eastern foods- gyros, hummus, etc. The food was average- nothing great, but not bad either. It lacks inspiration. The portions were big. They don't offer tap water, so you have to get bottled. Since this place is in Alamo Heights, the San Antonio smoking ban doesn't apply here. So you can smoke your hookah inside. They do offer a large porch that looks like it'd be fun to hang out on with a bunch of friends under the shade of the big oak trees out in front. Parking can be a challenge, since the lot is kinda weird, but there's usually enough parking on the side street. read more

Gyro was delicious I had a peach smoothie too which was surprisingly tasty. I Opted for whipped cream but it didn't need it. Hookah was alright... We had the cheaper one. I've been here before and I think the hookah is decent. My body personally doesn't take well to tobacco. Ordered from this place to go since it was closer to the hotel we stayed to avoid traffic. Unfortunately, we will not return. We ordered the Kofta kabob plate, and for the price they sure don't give you a lot of food. It's kinda good in a way, since the meat was so dry. I literally almost choked while was trying to swallow it. The rice wasn't fresh either, and it comes with a little salad. We also tried the chicken wrap, and it was dry. But the fries was ok. The Greek salad was also terrible. When you lift the tiny lettuce they put in the bowl, it had a lot of water underneath. I think their food has been sitting in the kitchen for I don't know how long, but it wasn't fresh at all. This is not what I expected from a Mediterranean food. We are not coming back and the place needs cleaning. I sat by the door waiting for our to go food and when I looked by the door, there was so much dust and looks like pet hair stuck to it. I went here twice over St. P's weekend because I really liked this place: first at night when we sat on the patio, then inside during the day on Sunday. Our server, Chloe (?), was prompt in visiting our table and helping to explain the menu to my friends. We ended up each ordering a dessert and the table shared two hookahs. I can't remember what my friends ordered, but I ordered a mix of Kiwi and Honey, then we both got the ice pipe add-ons. I think I know my new favorite flavor because the blend was smooth and tasty. Service was very quick and all the desserts were great, but the winning dish was definitely the "Kunafe". Trust me, you HAVE to try it. Nice and cheesy and sweet... I'd never had the food combination before but am glad I finally did! (FYI: It's "BYOB"; they don't serve alcohol there but you can bring wine or beer, at least.) The general atmosphere is very relaxed. Everyone there is just mingling with friends and having a good time. We're all getting older, so the raucous crowd scene is not our thing. This place was perfect and we left there in a much better mood. Dress code here is whatever... Casual, I'd say. But there were folks dressed up a bit more too. The next day I took a friend there who had never had smoked a hookah before. Of course, I ordered us a kunafe, a pot of tea, and the same hookah flavor combination. She enjoyed herself and said she'd bring her good friend the next time she and the friend needed time out of the house and away from their kids. And the prices are pretty reasonable. Most dessert dishes will run about $5.00 and the hookahs don't go higher than $17 (combo flavoring). Definitely a go-to spot for me now if I want a good, relaxed time out with friends. read more

Edit: Just went here a 4th time and had another good experience. Had a gyro again. They're just so good. My first job was at a gyro place, so I'm fairly picky. Also tried the Habibi Plate. It was okay. Not sure if I would get it again. After my meal I tried the Rose flavor hookah for the first time and it was pleasant. Definitely different than the fruity flavors I'm used to. We ordered take out for a large group gathering a few weeks ago and everything was wonderful! Our large takeout order was processed perfectly and all of our food was delicious! Everyone was able to find something that they liked and was excited to try their Turkish Coffee. Having been to Egypt recently and drinking Turkish Coffee everyday, I was also very excited to see how it fared... and it absolutely did not disappoint! While there I asked about different spaces that were Hookah free, and the hostess said that there is a side open air outdoor patio where they do not seat Hookah participants to try and keep a relatively smoke free zone for those that need it. Nice lounge with laid back atmosphere. Had their falafels with mint tea to start and followed that with their mixed chicken and kofta kebabs. Everything was delicious ( ask for extra creamy garlic sauce ) . Per the advice of the waitress I smoked the watermelon mint tobacco. It was a great recommendation! Went back next day for more. I've been in San Antonio a little over a year now and this has been my go to spot just to get out the house. If I leave work and don't want to sit in traffic, I stop here. If I need to relax, I stop here. If I need to focus on work on a remote day, I come here (I get distracted by my bed at home). They are THE MOST friendliest crew ever, and they pay attention. I don't eat much there outside of the wings and fries which are so good. The hookah is great and consistent. Came here expecting to eat some good gyro but was sadly disappointed. I ordered to go: 2 gyro over rice w/ extra rice and extra gyro and 1 chicken bowl. Price came out to be $45. I was kinda of shocked at the price because the place looked like a run down hole in the wall, and usually hole in the walls are great food places! Not this place, the food was not worth price. The gyro tasted like it was sitting for a while. The chicken was dry and peppery, and the rice was dry. The "extra portions" I paid for was non existent! I don't know how I haven't written a review yet. Last night I went to hookah lounge to study. I'm only in town for a course for two month but I have been coming to this location since 2014 and it truly helped me through grad school. I am so impressed with the expansion of the business and am glad they are growing. Chloe, the main server is AMAZING. I have known her since coming and she is very sweet, attentive and always gives options and recommendations on the hookah and edibles. The gentleman from last night was super attentive as well like him and Chloe worked the business to make sure all customers were attended to. After touring the building updates I opted to sit out side. The fan was going the AC unit was comfortably blasting and Sade was playing the background. I didn't get food this time but the Turkish coffee was yummy and all of their food is awesome. Trust me after being there from 8pm-2 am some nights studying for exams and finishing papers I have tried everything on the menu! The lounge has a great vibe! I was able to get a lot of work done and can't wait to return. If I must nitpick I would like them to update the bathroom and add some decor. read more

My wife and I were actually on our way to Starbucks when we stumbled upon heights cafe. I'm honestly not too interested in hookah, but this spot is an exception. We ordered the mint tea in a pot , and the presentation was beautiful complete with amazing customer service.
