Went on a Wednesday night. It was super chill, love the DJ that night! Playing all the great throwbacks. This spot is great for a group night. Lots of different spaces to chill and have fun. It's a cute place. I've been there before. E7 was playing on St. Patrick's Day. It has a good venue outside for music. It's a younger crowd, probably no one over 30 for the most part. They said they were going to have food trucks, and they did not. So that sucked because we didn't eat and were hoping to eat at a food truck. So not sure if my experience was unusual... although, I read several other reviews and I don't think it is. So when we first got to this place, it looked like a pretty cool place. Open air, fun, decently priced drinks. Lots of bars. Service was ok, but in fairness it was a busy night. As the night wore on, it became very clear that this place is a vibe. Think college party. People everywhere. Hyper and frenetic energy. No personal space (especially if you wanted to sit). Always at risk of having a drink spilled on you. And LOUD. This is not a place for a conversation. Or even a place to yell one word sentences at your companions. To be honest, I don't know why anyone over 30 would want to hang out here. One real drawback, cashing out our tab was really hard because there was a massive line at the bar, there was no organization, and it was impossible to get a bartender's or server's attention. That said, if this is your scene... then you will likely have an awesome time. From what I could tell, the 20-somethings seemed to be full-on enjoying themselves. Ultimately, this is why I give this place three stars. I'm not going to trash their rating because a place is delivering on what they set out to do. So, if you like loud, crowded, raucous parties (hey, some people do - that's why places like this exist)... then this place is all for you. Bring it. read more

The Social Spot is a really chill outdoor bar to hangout with friends. We stopped by this neighborhood bar last weekend to grab a few beers before having lunch at another downtown patio restaurant. I was very hesitant to go there because it was really hot (96 F), and was afraid to melt in the crazy Texas heat. They had 4 giant fans with misters that kept us super cool while enjoying a few beers in their shaded area. They have a wide variety of beers, including a few local ones. They also have a large bar with plenty of choices for everyone. They have two giant murals that are very "puro san antonio". They are also a dog friendly and family friendly bar. I will definitely be coming back to the Social Spot! read more

Didn't have a menu available to look at so I came here too see what drinks they had :) Blue Hawaiian was delicious! Service isn't the best considering there weren't a ton of people when we came. I mentioned it to the staff and they said it was a possum issue and they couldn't address it because the momma possum just gave birth. Well, when speaking to a different staff member, she mentioned that they did have a possum problem at one point but it was resolved months back during summer. stay away. read more

I went back to the counter/bartender and she said it's a new policy. 5 minutes later I talked to the manager and he tried to justify it by saying other bars nearby are also doing it. He mentioned people have been complaining and then he gave us 2 free beers. Never coming back here again. Huge disappointment! I went to this place yesterday for the first time for their "crawfish party", which was supposed to start at 3pm. I got there at 4pm, and they informed me that the chef had "slept in" that day and they wouldn't even be taking orders until 5pm! I waited around, then when they finally started taking orders, they only had ONE person at the register and the line was SO long it took me an ENTIRE HOUR to get to the front of the line. Got the order placed around 6pm, then my food wasn't even ready until 6:45! I'm lucky to have even received food though, because the e people at the end of the line were told that the restaurant RAN OUT of crawfish!!! Not to mention, the entire time the worker was taking orders, the was doing shots (of hard alcohol) with the cook. This is an outside venue, and the music was so loud, you can't talk to the person standing next to you. Plus, lots of nasty smells. I am never going back. This place is a total waste of time. This is a really chill and convenient place to hang out before one of the Fiesta parades start. They have an indoor bar, service is pretty quick and very friendly. You can hang out inside in the shade or hang outside in the spacious outdoor area and enjoy live music. The night I was there, Charlie Bravo was playing. The band was awesome and the sound was good. Charlie Bravo does mainly 80's metal and hair metal rock. It was so much fun. Plenty of tables and seating outside with umbrellas covering the tables. Fun, fun, fun if you are trying to kill time before the parade starts. No cover to get in like some places do during Fiesta. I'm going to try this place out after Fiesta is over - it really seems like a good crowd and a fun place to hang out. read more

I do not understand the hype with this place. I went a few times mainly to try the food trucks that are parked next to social spot. It's a nightmare getting into this place. They search you better than TSA searches people at the airport, yet they still have 5-10 security/cops on site. Just gives off a bad vibe to have such a large police presence with everyone being thoroughly searched. Another downside of this place is the loud music. It's so loud that it takes the enjoyment out of the music being played. You cannot SOCIALize over the music & that's the whole theme of their establishment, "Social Spot". They offer basic mixed drinks & absolutely no craft beer, so if you're a craft beer enthusiast you've been warned. Lastly, they have some games you can play next to the food trucks like: giant Jenga, cornhole, connect 4 & a few others. This place wasn't for me but may be for you. Peace. read more

Be aware if you go here and open up a tab they will put a 50. 00 dollar hold on your card. No matter how much much you spend at first. I only spent 20.00 dollars worth of drinks. Also if your bill at the end of the night is 100.00 or more you get charged a 10% gratuity so if you have bad serves there still getting a good tip. read more

The other bars are much more respectful yet the social spot still doesn't comply with city ordinance. Love this place! We have been several times during the day and it hasn't been too crowded. We heard the crowd comes in the afternoon/night. But if you're looking to day drink, this is a great spot! Micheladas are amazing! They make their mix in house and mix in a fair amount of pickle juice, so if you're not into sour you're not going to like this drink. They also top their rims with Sour Chamoy- which to me is heaven! Drinks are super affordable. Nothing is really over $5. Obviously there are some exceptions like higher end liquor and shots, but overall lots of cheap options here! My only complaint is how loud it is inside. When there is a DJ or just music from the jukebox, you can barely hear the person next to you. If sitting out, the music is reasonable. read more

Was a great place to go early with the kids and a place to put the pup to run around or be by your side until adults only time kicked in as long as they don't mind loud bass music. They have games such as large Jenga and trash can pong (like beer pong with trash cans). Even then the drinks were cheap and employees good until about 11pm when someone thought it'd be a good idea to start smoking pot and smelling up the place. I really like the vibe and feel of this place. It still needs a little work here and there but you can see improvements being made. The bar inside is small and almost always packed and sometimes it'll be packed as hell and only one bartender, yikes! The Dj was good and kept the music popping. This probably one of my favorite spots for drinks in this area. Patio lighting gives this spot a nice "neighborhood" vibe, tons of available seating and tables! There's a small doggie park and playground for the kids in the back! I love that this spot is pet friendly ! They have great drink specials, we came here on a Monday so there was little to no wait at all, staff is super friendly and always willing to help you out! Bar staff even came out to check on us and ask if we needed any shots or refills! Needless to say, this place has my heart I do believe they even have a taco truck to come out on certain days of the week as well which is great for hungry patrons ! read more

I would give this place a 3.5 stars. First off the front parking is for "employees " only, customers are "to park on the side or wherever " as their security guard so kindly told us. We found a spot across the street, then we had to cross a very busy street so good luck y'all. I ordered a mojito but they were out of mint so i had a margarita that tastec like kool-aid. I have been to the Social Spot a handful of times and I have experienced the day and night time crowd. My recent experience was on 3/16/19 around 2:30 pm. I actually love this place. Their beer prices are fair and The Ivy Bags are pretty good also. I may stick with the Vodka version instead of the rum. The customer service here is really good also as their bartenders are nice and friendly. One recommendation I would have for night time is to put a bar station with beer only outside to prevent long lines inside. Inside bar isn't very large and has an awkward layout a little bit when trying to order drinks. My favorite part about this place is that it is pet and kid friendly here until 9:30pm. There is also enough space and games if you are with a party of people outside to hang out. Kids playground area is decent as well; I would just take a look around there every once in a while. My kid was playing with a sharp metal bracket she found in the rocks on 3/15/19 and I'm glad I caught it. It looked old and rusted like it came from a part. One more recommendation is to put a light somewhere near the men's porta potty for night time and check to replace soap dispenser. There never is any soap. A manager Oscar had called me back assuring he would help me but now I am being ignored and no returned calls or messages. This is beyond suspicious.
