My husband had the double char and I had the veggie burger. He said his was "OK", although he said that without enthusiasm. And he was the one who wanted to go there. He had been NPO all night for a study at Kaiser and he was hungry and he still had no enthusiasm for what he got. The dog liked it but we don't like to give her all that greasy salty stuff. We have visited the one in Walnut Creek a couple of times over the years, but burgers aren't my thing and I always look for something like a veggie alternative. I'm not meatless I just don't like burgers that much. What I can speak to was the veggie burger which was absolutely awful. Was it deep fried? It looked like it. It had a real crust around it. And it was heavy, leaden, way too rich. And they'd asked if I wanted raw or caramelized onions and I said "Caramelized!", but there weren't any that were obvious. I was expecting some strands of caramelized onion. When I looked closer they were chopped up into teeny little pieces that were stuck on the inside of the bun. And the whole bun was so soggy. It was just awful. No greenery either to speak of, a couple of teeny shreds of lettuce. And what was it...$9? About half of it ended up coming home and going in the compost bin. What a waste! Also the soda choices were pretty thin. The only non-sugared one was diet Pepsi. I do want to say that the staff were really nice. They warrant a star. Otherwise this would be a one-star review. Everyone was friendly. But we'll take a pass on Habit from now on.. read more

Came in around 3pm on May 16th. I ordered the $10 special: 1/2 Santa Barbara, 5 pieces crispy chicken, fries and a regular drink. The dining room wasn't too busy. I saw only two employees: one taking orders and another cooking. The woman who took my order was friendly and helpful. It took an unusually long time for my order to be ready. This special equaled a lot of food. Too much imo. Unfortunately, none of the items were hot. Only barely warm. It probably would have been good had it been hot. I don't understand how something that I assume was freshly made, wasn't hot. Not even one of the items. It was disappointing. I felt I had wasted money and wished I had chosen someplace else to eat. Tried something different this time instead of a burger. In their app, they had a special for their salads so got one of those this time for lunch. It was the Cobb chicken salad. Came with ranch dressing avocados bacon etc. Good sized. I liked it but I'm still a burger fan. Was easy to order on the app ahead of time and it was ready for pickup when I got there. I came here on 2/5/26 at 3:30pm and I just have to give props to the guy who took my order. He has a mustache and glasses. He was so kind and helped me since it was my first time. This establishment is so incredibly clean. I felt like I could have eaten on the floors and been fine. I did use the bathroom while I was here and it was spotless. The condiment area.. spotless. Quality of orders has been consistently dropping. Ditch the new cardboard containers for ranch dressing, second time it opened and got all over my food and napkins. Last time there was BBQ sauce on my burger when I repeatedly said NO BBQ sauce. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Friendly service for my app take out order. Definitely download their app to order because you might get a coupon! I check it once in awhile to see if they have new offers. Yesterday there was a coupon for free chicken sandwich w any purchase of $2 or more. What a deal! I ordered their sweet potato fries which was excellent. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. Size is a bit more compared to to nearby cafes but it tasted pretty good. I don't normally leave reviews for a fast food restaurant because there isn't much to be surprised with, you get what you pay for. But this Habit probably has the nicest staff out of all of the habit burger places i've been to. The wait for food was incredibly low and I had my meal ready right away without giving up on the quality you'd expect. Worst experience today! No one is willing to assist, I used the kiosk My burger sat... I questioned it & was told your order isn't ready yet. As I sat & watched the worker unwrapped the burger that had been sitting & put it in my tray! I called her out & got some attitude but insisted on a freshly cooked burger.... Well, looks like the Habit Patty Melt is making a comeback after discontinued a couple years ago. I figured I'd give it another try as Habit is one of my most fave fast food burger places. Too bad I don't have one where I live in Red Bluff CA. Whoa, I was surprised at the price of this "new" Patty Melt, almost $10 bucks for just the sandwich! That's a lot for a fast food burger thing. OK, I order just the sandwich and water to keep the price reasonable .. well, sort of. THe Patty Melt comes out and I unwrap it. My first impression is, wow, is that all it is? It's just a little flat and not that big. There are two patties in there, but I way much rather have a Double Charburger here for less money than this poor execution of a patty melt. I came to order a chicken sandwich for my son and it wasn't on the "order yourself" screen so i asked the lady at the counter and she was happy to help me. She figured everything out for me and we enjoyed our meal. This was on a Tuesday. Fast forward to Saturday when I realized i left my backpack on the seat. It had my LIFE inside. Credit cards, ID and all... i couldn't get ahold of them via phone but I stopped in and they had it locked up and safe!!! I was so appreciative to them for taking care of it for me!! Check your orders before leaving. Every time without fail has there been something missing, despite having the receipt literally stapled to the bag. The staff always wants to fight when you're just asking for the missing items, as if it's coming out of their own wallet. Please just put out complete orders or be kind and apologetic if something truly is missing. I don't mind them verifying the receipt, but it's unprofessional to challenge the customer, then huff and puff when they're wrong. I check every time I pickup now and know I'm going to have to deal with their attitude. And they wonder why no one tips on pickup orders, they can't even get that right. read more

I'm in the HABIT of coming here for an affordable but quality burger. Terrible puns aside, this place does a great job with their food, service, and COVID-safety precautions. My friend placed an order ahead of time on their app, which we had no problems using. The food was prepared very quickly and everything in the bag was correct! My one point of improvement would be the ranch, it's noticeably watered down. Even so, the value you get for the price is pretty good. My favorite menu item is probably the Sweet Potato Fries. Why haven't I reviewed this old favorite of mine? If you are one of the few who haven't eaten here, this is what I think are must-try's: - Fried green beans with ranch dipping sauce - Santa Barbara burger (it's a burger with avo on sourdough!) - ANY shake (my favorite is strawberry but all their specials are usually great!) Special Tips: - The kids meals are good deals bec you get a drink and apple sauce. - When dining in and you order an ice cream cone with your meal, they let you go right up to the counter when you're finished with your meal to get your ice cream so it doesn't melt. No need to stand in line again! - You can ask for your fries "well done" if you like them crispy! - If you have a group, you can save a lot of money by getting a "Family Bundle". (I have gotten the Charburger bundle that comes with a full-size salad, 4 burgers, and 4 fries! (If ordered separately, it'd cost $12 more, which can be money put towards shakes! Haha) For a somewhat fast food joint, Habit is very clean and there is ample seating indoors and outdoors. I also like their self-serve bar of spicy peppers. This is our go to burger joint if we need a quick burger fix close to home. Top 3 chain burgers in my opinion are In N out, 5 Guys, and Habit. Habit is the best of all worlds, and we always leave feeling satisfied, but not gross. Medium price. Medium size. But still big on taste. Our favorites...the char burger. Very tasty and juicy, but not overwhelmingly drippy. Perfect amount of lettuce and tomato. Nice bun size. Just burger done right. Also love their sides. Fries are excellent. Slight crunch and pillowy soft goodness inside. Sweet potatoes are also really good. Onion rings are some of the best I've had, period. And even "healthy" stuff like the fried green beans are great. This isn't my first time coming to The Habit. For the many times I've eaten here, the burgers are always great! Cooked well. Service is good. Staff is friendly. We came today for a meaty treat because it's no longer Lent and we can chow down on burgers on a Friday!!! I like how they offer lettuce wrapped burgers which is what I got. It holds well enough at first but then I had to ask for a fork more than half way through. No worries. Burger is still delicious. I ordered the chicken club and it came on a nice toasted bun and not soggy like some of the other locations I have been to. We got scam by Uber eats. If you are an Uber eats customer, please be aware if u cancelled your order which they only have 5 seconds for you to click go back but right after your order is no longer refundable even you cancelled it and the food has not prepared. I realized I placed my order at the wrong location. So I was able to successfully cancelled however you are not being warned if you cancel, you will not get your money back. I gave habit a call to ensure they did not prepare the order for me and habit confirmed that it was on time to stop the order. Then, I contact Uber eats customer support talked to 5 different people and they all said the same thing that "we can't refund you because our system won't allow it". I don't even know how that can be legal in the US and I m surprise that they don't get in trouble for treating customers like that. It is unheard of that you need to pay for your food that the customer never got their items but still get charged for the entire order that you were successfully cancelled. The Uber app didn't warned or prompted you with a message saying like if you cancel you still be charged for the full order. In my case, if I m aware of that, I will not cancel my order but rather drive to that location to pick it up since they are about a few miles apart. Luckily, the customer relations at habit burger are super awesome and they understand my frustration and honored the charbroiled certificate that was equivalent to the value of my order that I can use for future. I really appreciate the beyond customer service that habit provide to their value customer. Just want to give a warning to those who are currently using Uber eats apps to watch out for the cancellations issue with them which is don't expect a refund from Uber eats. They will not refund you. The 5 stars is being given to habit burger for the excellent customer experience. read more

I love the tempura green beans here!!! I picked up lunch for my son and Habit is his favorite fast food burger joint. The kids meal is such a great deal-charburger, small fries, drink and a candy all for under $6! I was only going to get something for him, but I couldn't resist the green beans.
