Haven't had Habit since last spring (or at least that's what the app told me when I downloaded it again). I remembered it being somewhat blissful, the fries being stellar, the burger solid, and the ranch was some of the best around (and, if memory serves, a nice perk of ordering). This time... not so much. The app wouldn't work when I tried to submit my order. Repeatedly. Honestly, that probably should have been my first sign. Since I wasn't far away, I decided to just drive over and order in person. The kiosk seemed to be the only option, but ordering was quick enough. I was texted my order details, although the food ended up being late. When I asked the younger associate for a side of ranch, I was told they now charge for it. Okay. Fine. But then came the food. The fries were dark, almost translucent from being so saturated with oil. It was pretty obvious I'd gotten the bottom of the batch. The burger itself was, sadly, underwhelming. The restaurant and patio area looked neglected. Empty tables inside and out were littered with previous customers trash, wrappers, and leftover food remnants. There were two empty tables directly next to the restroom, which were mostly clear of food debris. I ended up offering the cleaner table, that I first sat at, to a family that showed up after and was going to attempt to clean the open table (figured I could just eat outside). I'd put Habit well below In-N-Out at this point, which is a shame, because I remember a time when Habit was sitting pretty high on my burger chart. Late review. There is actually a Habit Burger & Grill closer to where I reside but I wanted to see if the food/service was on par or better than my previous experiences from different locations. Habit tends to have deals when ordering through the app - this time around I was able to purchase a BBQ Bacon Char and get a free Teriyaki Char burger. When arriving, there was a fair amount of parking but usually full of customers. I managed to find parking without any issue and walked right in. The place itself was clean and with a good amount of customers. I was greeted and picked up my order right away. When it came time to enjoying the BBQ Bacon char burger - I didn't really capture a good photo of it but it was pretty smushed/banged up. Didn't at all look appealing to eat. It was...ok. I felt like all the ingredients weren't at all evenly distributed. I had the Teriyaki Char burger the following day and had the same experience. I hope in the future to return back and dine in and see if there is an improvement with the food. read more

I had a frustrating experience at Habit Burger while picking up an Uber Eats order. I went inside to collect a small order, but the wait time was excessive--around 25 minutes. For a simple order, this delay is unacceptable, especially for delivery drivers who are on tight schedules. What made it worse was the staff's attitude. There was little communication or urgency, and it didn't feel like delivery drivers were being taken seriously. A better system for handling online and pickup orders would make a big difference. I visited this location of the Habit on 5/8/26 the last day of a "teacher appreciation" promotion: a free sandwich, burger, or salad with a $5 purchase. The woman who I assume was manager or shift lead that evening spoke to me very rudely. I had showed my teacher ID to the cashier -- a young man who asked her how he should ring me up. She was very condescending to both the cashier and to me & said I needed to bring the flyer. I was frustrated because I recalled reading the flyer and it only said to bring my teacher ID to receive the promotion. She dismissively told me that the flyers were passed out and something like "that way it's only one per person" as if I might try to do this twice. I decided to drive back to get the flyer off my desk at work and return. With gas prices over $6 a gallon now this was such a waste of my time and gas. I returned- flyer in hand- and ordered. The woman did not speak to me on this second visit. I told the cashier who rang me up both times "I'm back with the flyer--as you see it says absolutely nowhere on it anything other than show your teacher ID." It was awkward and I noticed the woman seemed very intentionally to avoid speaking to me -- because I tried to show her the flyer twice but she walked back in the kitchen area and looked away. Just want to say overall-- I felt disrespected and such a negative energy from this that it became my last visit to the Habit at this location. Maybe the energy got into the food too, because my fries were floppy and cold, my burger seemed soggy. This was the opposite of teacher appreciation. I just ordered my food to dine in, and somehow it came out in a bag completely scrambled. I haven't even moved the bag around much, so I genuinely don't understand how it ended up like this. If I'm dining in, I shouldn't have to open a bag and find my food tossed around like it was transported across town. This also isn't my first disappointing experience here. On past visits, my burgers have been served cold, and the service has consistently been poor. At this point, I'm honestly starting to wonder if there's a difference in how customers are treated when they don't tip. I don't like making that assumption, but when the service is repeatedly this bad, I don't feel motivated to tip for service I'm not receiving. This is the first and only establishment where I've consistently had these kinds of issues. This is one of the worst fish sandwich, maybe even the worst sandwich I have ever ate. We've been visiting Habit more recently since enjoy the burgers and sandwiches. Burgers are decent sized, probably comparable to the size of In n Out burgers. I personally prefer their sandwiches and salads. Our kids also love the kids meal that come with the little burger gummy. Prices for combo meals are definitely higher than your standard fast food joint. However, the do have some budget type meals. This last visit I got the $8 gotta habit meal which came with half a chicken club, tempura green beans, and a drink. For $8 bucks it was really filling! We've been to this location a couple of times in the last months and while we do enjoy the food, there have been issues with our orders. Thankfully they were easy fixes but I do have to check if our order was right each time. Otherwise everything is clean and a good sitting available inside and outside. This is the second time that I've been to this habit and they have messed up my order but this time it was serious because I have an allergy to tomatoes and I put no tomato on my hamburger and add avocado and they forgot the avocado and put the tomato anyway when I went back into the store to let them know their error and clearly told him I was allergic to tomatoes when they went to fix it. They did not remake it, but just pulled the tomato out and added the avocado if this is the way they treat customers who have allergies I will never return to the store. read more

Overall this is best to say it's a 2.5 star review. I have never been to a Habit Burger and wanted to finally try it. Boy, was I disappointed. The entire experience seemed disorganized and complicated. You go to a kiosk to order, which is perfectly OK, right as you enter... but there isn't enough room for more than three to four people to stand there, so if more they're at the door waiting to get in. The kiosk is intuitive enough but when I went to put in my email address for a receipt there was no '.' on the screen for a .net or .com. I looked and looked holding up people behind and it was frustrating. Finally it just timed out on me. No receipt. The text message told me to go to the counter for a drink cup. Stood there for 10 minutes and no one came or acknowledged me. They were apparently way understaffed. Having your cell phone number they use it to text when your order is ready and by the last four digits to call it out as well. It took around twenty minutes to get the order and it wasn't all that crowded. They seemed to be very harried in getting things out. The prep and kitchen. Is right in view so not so easy to miss. I got a regular burger meal w/o cheese with fries and a drink, and yes it is char broiled, but didn't taste any better than any other burger anywhere. It was ordinary, at best. The fries were good, not too greasy and I had a store supplied iced tea that didn't do anything much for me either. Combined I had an upset stomach which never happens to me. In the end there was no reason for me to ever return. In-N-Out is closer to my home, far more efficient in service with much better food. Staffing appears to be an issue at this Habit location as there was noone behind the counter or manning the grills when I entered. Stood around a bit confused for a few minutes until an employee came in from outside to assist. It looked like she was outside cleaning the tables and was the only employee in the store. My order was thankfully ready and waiting for me. And my burger tasted just as a good as I've always come to expect from Habit. None of the inside tables were cleaned unfortunately, so I had to just grab some napkins and wipe one down myself. read more

BWE and I were here today to offload a gift card. We walked up and I asked the person behind the counter if I could use a gift card on the self-serve order screens. He said "yes" without really looking at us. We proceeded to put our order in and then swiped the gift card...didn't work. Tried it again...didn't work. I asked the person behind the counter again, if I could use a gift card there and he said "yes" so I asked "it's not working here, what am I doing wrong?" He gave me a look of irritation and said "let's just do it through my machine." As BWE was giving her order, another worker came up and talked to the person taking our order. There was no "Excuse me" or "sorry I need to ask my co-worker a question." She just rudely interrupted while my wife was ordering to ask "if there were more napkins." I haven't tried a char burger yet, so my review may be considered premature, but I do love the 250 calorie Tempura Green Beans and the 600-800 calorie milkshakes. Strawberry milkshake and the new holiday Peppermint Bark milkshake are thick and creamy (and both pink!) You get one complimentary sauce with your side. Additional sauces are $0.60 each as of 12/2024. Sauces are Spicy Red Pepper, Sweet Mustard, BBQ, Teriyaki, and Signature Ranch. You can either order from one of three huge tablets or from the counter. The manager David is friendly and animated, encouraging me to take pictures of the new menu and chatting with me about cooking and working happily for Habit Grill. His favorite menu item is the Double Char with either a plain or sourdough bun. Restaurant looks contemporary inside. Indoor dining has about 10 tables for 4 and 2 tables for 2. You could separate some of the tables for 4 into 2 tables for 2. Outdoor dining with 5 tables for 4 and 2 tables for 2. With so many negative reviews, it's clear the owner of this business takes no pride in their restaurant... they just want the money! Today I took mom there and couldn't find a clean table in the front... towards the back the restaurant was literally like a fridge! They had turned down the temperature so low, to ensure they will be nice and cool behind the grill... Who cares if the customers are going to freeze in here, right? So I asked them if they can turn it down a bit and was fed one of those typical lines [We don't have a "key" to the thermostat..], the guy was probably the owner who wanted to remain nice and cool while flipping burgers!! I stopped by the Habit Burger on Pleasant Grove in Roseville and honestly, the work ethic there really stood out. Every employee was constantly moving and staying busy the entire time I was there. When there wasn't a line, they didn't just stand around , they'd rotate between taking orders, sweeping, mopping, and wiping things down. What impressed me most was how consistent they were with cleaning. The floors, tables, outdoor seating, even the umbrella frames and windows were being cleaned over and over. The drink station and straws area were constantly wiped down too. It wasn't just a quick once-over, it felt like they really took pride in keeping the place spotless. You don't see that level of attention very often. Everything felt organized and almost like clockwork. Definitely made the whole experience better knowing they care that much about their space. Slow Saturday at the habit , put in my order through the kiosk , twenty minutes went by , and still no combo. Young male employee doing his best with 5 different Uber Eats people all showing up to get the same order. The last driver didn't really speak English , and it was making the young man's job much harder trying to communicate. All the while my 15 dollar combo sat up in the area where completed orders are placed. Just getting colder and colder. When I pay 15 for a single hamburger and fries and a drink , it's nice when they are fresh and hot. Really felt sorry for the young man when I asked to have hot food , they switched out the fries , and I should have made them redo my burger , as it turns out it was cold when I tried to eat it. Fries were hot only because I insisted they replace them as they were cold to the touch. It's amazing what companies call customer service nowadays . The only person working that day was that young man. And the way the manager dressed the employee down, right in the lobby in front of us. It's her fault for not having more help up front for an obviously new employee. Horrible customer service in store and online. You cannot reach a restaurant directly it goes to a third party vendor. Our delivery was missing items and I called and it took over 5 minutes to get through the AI assistant to a live person. The live person said they are after hours center (Time was 5:30pm PST). They said I can fill out a form and they would get back to me during business hours via email. Needless to say I have not received my food that was missing unless I went directly to the restaurant which defeats the purpose of delivering. We have also been at this location in person last month with rude server. Only 3 people working and not one acknowledged us when we arrived and we stood at the register for several minutes. S-L-O-W Service [Roseville CA] I've not been back to this Habit location in a while and I noticed the new kiosk stands they have at the front as soon as you enter the door ("new" to me) the line had 5 people ahead of me. I opted to stand in line and place my order, most people did. The restaurant was busy at lunch time, all indoor seats were occupied when I came in except for a 2-seater booth. As it was my turn to order at the counter the cashier/team leader kindly asked me to "wait a moment" and I said okay... I didn't know that the "moment" was going to last a long while as she proceeded to help the 4-people crew preparing the orders (walk-ins, mobile and food delivery services). I dunno, I must've been standing at the counter for 10 mins after already waiting in line for another 15 mins maybe. I was able to place my order and my receipt showed a time stamp of 12:31p. I waited with the others... as I waited I could hear the frustration from some of the customers (one was waiting for nearly 40 mins for their food, one other was mumbling unpleasantries to himself as he passed me by). Anyway, I finally got my food around 12:57p but as they were preparing my Oreo shake the gal told me that milkshake machine was not working (she did try to use it). Shouldn't they made sure in the beginning if it was working or not and place an "out of order" sign on the machine? That took another 3 minutes as another worker (I suppose it was the manager) took my name and my receipt to give me a refund back to my credit card. I guess they couldn't just refund with cash. I love their char burgers and I would continue to support the franchise but maybe not at this location anymore. I used to frequent this place a lot as it is the closest Habit from my work. Not real sure what's going on here... maps says it's open until 1am but when we got here at 8:20pm it looked like they were already closing. Half the restaurant was covered in soap suds with no place to sit, the other half was just dirty. Garbages were over flowing and there was no ketchup but they had ketchup cups... so weird! While we were eating I overheard (I believe it was the manager) telling a worker to call a coworker and tell her not to come in, but yet, she was already in the bathroom and all he said was "oh..". I guess he didn't know her start time? I can't imagine driving all the way to work to be told to go home. I hope she got some hours that day! We had left before she came out of the restroom. Ordered online thinking they could at least get started on our food before we got here. Surprise! There is no one else in here and nothing had been started. They handed us cups and just walked around with buckets... No one appeared to be cooking? It didn't help that the jalapenos were shriveled up into nothing and the one other person patronizing had a speakerphone conversation for the duration of our very long visit. Used to go the habit regularly but it has gone downhill sometime after they sold out to corporate. For awhile after selling the char burger was ok but definitely on the slide downwards seems like they cut way too much like the tri-tip-sandwich that made it different even the French onion burger was great but in last year the slide fell down a cliff nickel and dime and quality has become disappointing. What used to separate this from other burger places has gone away their burger is no longer as satisfying and its price has become more expensive than Red Robin, Chilis, and Applebees. The habit in Oroville, California, totally awesome awful. We were late coming into Oraville. We wanted something. Everything was closed and they were close to except they would accept me at the Conor, so they put the stuff in the bag and we took it to our sprinter and went down the road of peace. My boyfriend read a article, rating the best burgers from all 50 states. Habit burger was rated higher than In-N-Out, and he disagreed. That's why we went to Habit to see if the rating was accurate or not! The store was clean and the cashier was friendly. There were plenty of to-go extras even though there weren't many customers in the store. We placed our order and waited for a few minutes to receive our food. We ordered the #1 (original Char-burger meal) and a Santa Barbara Char burger. When I opened the wrapper of the original char-burger, I was greeted by a perfect looking burger (well, hello beautiful!). When I bit into the burger, the toasted burger buns added extra crunchy yummy-ness! My boyfriend's Santa Barbara char had the perfect toasted sourdough, two beef patties, and avocado. Needless to say, we both enjoyed our food until the very last bite. So, was it better than In-N-Out? If we only talk about the burger itself, I think yes. (Especially because I just had In-N-Out the day before!) The presentation and the toasted buns really won over my heart! It stood on the front counter for about three minutes or longer before I confirmed it's ours as they don't seem to care whose is it. I stopped in here at Habit about a week ago and decided to try this new Patty Melt they have here. My friend stuck with the Double Char Cheeseburger. For the price of almost $10 just for the Patty Melt, I was quite disappointed when I received it. Well, first it seem like an overlong time for that buzzer thing to go off as we waited a long time for the order, despite it not seeming like it was that busy here. We get the order finally and this Patty Melt fell waaay short of what I was expecting from a place like the Habit Burger Grill. It was quite flat and, yep had two patties, but that just didn't help much. Not a lot of char flavor either .... really folks, pass on this one. Now, usually I have better luck with the Charburgers. But this time my friend asked for grilled onions to be added, I know they got it as it was listed on the receipt to add grilled onions. But NO grilled onions! So, they remade it, but now there's a bunch of UNMELTED cheese on the burger, due to improper assembly of not centering the cheese properly so the burger heat will melt it. I've had it done right before, so I know this is possible, hell I even have a pic of it done right! Too much waiting to get it right, so my friend begrudging ate it anyways.
