    Fish and chips

I love their burgers, chicken and salads, but not the fish as much. I was excited to try their fish and chips today for lunch. They looked crispy but when I asked for malt vinegar, they said they don't have any. Ummm, excuse me? That's like saying you don't have hot sauce for tacos? Ugh! The fish was crispy and the fries too. I tried their coleslaw and it was a hard pass. I will go back for chicken

My family and I came to Moksa Barrel House for dinner and it was so busy but service was speedy fast! It is pretty large and spacey inside however it was uncomfortably loud. A lot of large tables inside for larger groups & plenty of outdoor seating too. It's a vibey spot with food, shakes, drinks and loaded fries.

Stopped in this morning for a coffee while my car was being washed next door... for a 16oz Vanilla Latte.... there were a few others having breakfast in the large open space... lots of room. Service was quick and friendly. Coffee was yummy!!

Chicken tenders and fries, oh yeah. The tenders were perfectly breaded and the fries crunchy on the outside and soft inside, nicely seasoned. Service was good and the staff was very friendly. We've also come here for coffee and croissants. I had latte with oat milk and it was delicious and very refreshing. Sad to say. there were no sugar free options but the croissant was warmed up and crispy and flaky!!! So delicious. This place looked amazing with tons of barrels on one side and clear windows on the other sides. A must try and highly recommended. Per my son in law, there's good beer available!!!

I really only drink sour beer and Moksa had a couple to choose from! Lily was delicious and I'd definitely like another one. I live further away than I'd like from Moksa because if I could, I'd definitely frequent often. Staff were friendly and were working hard (there was always a line, but that just speaks to how good the beer is and how many people want to drink it). Inside is nice. I wish there was more seating outside though.

Okay, this is my first time here and I was jonesing and for a nice cheeseburger. So, I ordered a cheeseburger with caramelized onions. I also ordered a side of onion rings and I asked for them to be extra crispy. This burger, well, it's a little bit on the thin side but is absolutely delicious! I don't know the size of it, but I would assume that a place like this should have a quarter pound cheeseburger. This is more like what you would get on a McDonald's cheeseburger, as far as size but, it is absolutely delicious. Onion rings are superb. They have many different options for sauces for the onion rings, so I chose the burger sauce and it is perfect for these onion rings. They're very crispy and they're very well done. They're not a bunch of strips and pieces like I would see it, other restaurants,, but they are the actual rings of an onion. I ordered onion rings. At other establishments you get a bunch of bits and pieces, but not here, you get the full onion ring, which is awesome. I don't understand why there's not a huge crowd here, because this is probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time, except for the size of the patty. They're only about seven other people in here, but they have a large seating area. Maybe it's just the time of day, I don't know. I can now see them setting up extra tables and chairs, so I guess they're expecting a larger crowd later on. They also have an area that is roped off for a line to order meals so that is another clue that they will get more people later on. Nice assumption is it's just the time of day and that's why it's quiet. The bottom line? If you want a good burger and a good atmosphere with good prices, come here. I can personally say that I will be back. I only wish they had a bigger patty on the burger, a quarter pounder. The only reason I give him less than a perfect score is because the burger was thin. As I said, I was jonesing for for a cheeseburger, and I wanted a cheeseburger with a big thick patty. Will I be back? Yes, I will.

The full meal--burger, fries, drink in the background. It was a hard cider. I think it was Ponderosa.

Came here in a whim with my friend. Was immediately struck by the atmosphere--the big wide open spaces, the natural lighting, and all the barrels stacked against the wall. It did feel exactly like one would expect when walking into a brewery. Service was quick and friendly. My friend who asked for drink recommendations had to stifle a laugh when the cashier admitted they weren't 21 yet and honestly couldn't recommend any of the drinks, "But this one seems popular, because a lot of people buy it." Worked for us! While the hard cider was delicious, the food could use some work. I wasn't impressed that this place was a la carte, especially with the size of the burgers not being very large. The burgers themselves left a bit to be desired. I think the style is supposed to indicate, "thrown together deliciousness," but the burger appeared thrown together. Everything was shifted to the side. I asked for grilled onion, and while it tasted fine, all of it came out of the burger with my very first bite. I wasn't thrilled about having a mouth full of onion--there's meat in there my taste buds were dying to try! Speaking of which, although a little dry, I didn't have any problem with the meat or how the bacon cheeseburger tasted overall. It was good. Not exactly great, but good. I can say the same for the sweet potato fries. The homemade dill ranch was actually pretty good, but ranch should enhance the flavor if what is already present, not attempt to make up for it. Overall, I'm likely to come back to try the drinks and try their chicken items. It was a nice place and I'd like to think that on a return visit I'll get the same great service and environment--just with better food.

That was a one and done experience!!! I'll start with the good. The beer selection was good and ww enjoyed our beers. Now for the disappointment. We decided to try Moksa Barrell House because I saw a post how they won a hamburger competition. That was the thinnest, smallest bun, $14 hamburger ever. Then add $5 for regular fries. It tasted ok but left hungry. The atmosphere was like sitting in a hospital cafeteria. Or as my husband said, an airport resturant. We thought because it was a partnership with Hawk's it woud be good. Took that long drive out to West Roseville only to be disappointed.

Can get your caffeine, beer/wine and burger or chicken fix all in one place! 5/5 Beers: I have not had a bad beer from Moksa and they are one of the best breweries in the region. They also have a great rotation of what's on draught from pilsners to IPAs to seltzers, sours and stouts. 4/5 Food: The casual menu is curated from the minds of Hawks Restaurant in Granite Bay and Hawks Public house in East Sacramento. The quality for what you get is justified. The sauces are all really good and you can tell are made in house and every time we had a burger and chicken sandwich we are satisfied. The breakfast sandwich was okay for the price idk if I would get it again. 5/5 **Soft serve is amazing! They use Straus for their machines and it's so good. 5/5 Honestly, the COFFEE is one of my favorite things from here. The area is so saturated with chain coffee shops making it a bit difficult to find good craft coffee around and so glad we found barrel house. Their coffee supplier is Mostra based outta San Diego and my bf and I have actually gone to their cafe and was so happy to see it here up north. - Caramel latte is balanced with the coffee taste and the sweetness of the caramel. - Microfoam on the lattes are consistently perfect the way it's suppose to be...melted ice cream. - conveniently open at 7am to get your caffeine fix and at that hour everyone we have encountered has been so nice. Lots of seating inside and ample seating on the front patio. Bathrooms are always clean even when they are busy on trivia/music bingo nights. I will have to say though it's SO bright in there after the sun goes down someone needs to adjust the light a bit after it's dark outside. The staff is welcoming and really nice no matter what time of day we go. But special shoutout to Rosemary and Molly they are so awesome!!

Moksa 8 Worst stout ever! Flat, tasted like bottom of the barrel Cabernet, re brown color... touch of sweet.. awful!!!

Had to try this pub as it is so close to where we live. It was a hot evening and we scored a nice shady table outdoors. Peeking inside the large interior space showed several open tables. Hubby ordered burgers for us and they were quite good. Could not finish the fries, so took them home and reheated in the air fryer for extra crispy the next day! Prices are reasonable, hubby loved his beer. They have a huge selection to choose from. Will return!

On a cool April Tuesday evening we stop in at 6:00pm. The big room is busy, practically full. Everyone is having a good time. Lots of smiling families, lots of loud chatter filling the room. Order at the cashier counter. The employees are happy, friendly and helpful. Barbara & me order two regular burgers, a side salad, regular size french fries, a glass of pinot and a pint of beer. With tip and tax the bill is $54. Burger tastes good, not outstanding. Way better than any corporate fast food burger, but not up to a fancy restaurant gourmet burger that costs twice the price or higher. Salad is crisp and fresh, I like the green creamy ranch dressing. French fries are average. I picked up the food tray as soon as it hit the counter the fries were just barely warm. We had our Labrador retriever with us so we had to sit at a picnic table on the front patio. The tables are crammed really close together. A staff member brought a dog bowl of water for my boy. This is my 5th different brew pub visit around Roseville. My favorite still is the Doghaus Biergarten down Blue Oaks blvd, about 1 mile from this place.

Came in on a Friday night at dinner time so I completely understand it is going to be busy. This is an order and find your own table place so at dinner time you need to be on top of looking for an open table. Even though this is a barrel house, if you are looking for a place just to chill and have a beer I probably wouldn't come here during their busy times. It is loud and there are a lot of kids running around. So if that is what you are looking for I would try their other location instead. Beer is fine. Can be a little hit or miss on beers but their food is pretty good! Had their chicken sandwich and chicken fries and were pretty flavorful.

Ask the Community - Moksa Barrel House

Are they as expensive as I am imagining since they are associated with Hawks? What is their price rage for a burger?

It's reasonably priced as compared to Hawks. Burgers are $9 and up, but they are relatively small (think In-n-Out size) and a'la carte. Fries are extra, if i remember right it was $4 for small. Not a terribly great deal, but certainly not nowhere… Read more

Do they have TV's for sports now?

    Yes they do

    Are kids allowed?

For sure! Menu is also kid friendly.

They have two salads on the menu and that's about all for now.

Are dogs allowed at the patio?

I believe so. When I was there, there was a family that had their 4-legged companion w/ them.

You'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the wrong place or about to make a mistake and put yourself into a sketchy place. We looked around for a more "realistic" entry way not knowing the most realistic entry way is one that looks like a back door to a closed vacuum or furniture storefront. That's exactly the point. You knock. Immediately, the door opens. A man in a cowboy hat looks you over. He doesn't wear a name tag. He doesn't need one. He asks, "You have something to say?" If you've done your homework, and say the right thing, the door stays open. You're in. I do not know what happens if you do not have the word. What follows is less a bar and more a pocket of time. The interior is small but well conceived. The bar sits directly at the entrance, flanked by a few standing guests and several small tables. Beyond that, the space opens up into a lounge with seating for six to eight, and a longer bench-style area for a dozen or so. The walls are dark, the lighting low. It's the kind of place that feels like it remembers what Prohibition was, even if most of us never lived it. It felt like walking onto a movie set where we might be extras, and the main characters would enter and play out a scene. It was a perfect example of a speak easy in full swing. Even the glassware was legitimate. The decor is intentional. Books tucked into corners. Stags mounted on the wall. Nothing feels store-bought or trendy. It's immersive without trying too hard. The seats were not overstuffed contemporary types nor were the tables or even foot stools. They all looked like they came from a speak easy back in the day. About the only thing that did not look like the real thing were the patrons, as they were dressed casually, and of course the iPhones. I suppose that would have caused quite a ruckus during prohibition! Conversations are constant, layered over each other and laughter. It gets loud, but not obnoxious. There's a rhythm to the space that holds. My suggestion is to not go at 7pm on a Saturday and hope to get a prized table, couch or seat. Now, to the drinks. House Divided serves anything you ask for, but they lean into the theme. Classic cocktails done right. Throwbacks with historical lean. Creative new entries like lavender martinis that aren't just gimmicks. Each drink feels made by someone who knows what they're doing and takes pride in the process. This is not vodka-soda speed bar territory. It's craft, and it shows. I did not see a bottle of ocean spray anywhere, but what I did see were large glass bottles labeled with the juice or concoction held within. The little details are obvious! If I were to translate my usual framework:    *   Ambiance and Service: 4 stars (it can get loud and if you are here to have a conversation it will be difficult)    *   Quality: 5 stars- I had a simple drink - vodka and cranberry. With something "special" that the tender added. I don't know what it was, but the taste was wonderful! Way different than my standard go to!    *   Value? That depends on whether you're measuring price per ounce, or the fact that you just got to walk through a green door into another world. But in reality, 5 stars. Do I wish for more seating? Yes. Perhaps more quiet? Yes. But if it were those things, would it be the same? No. My guess is going on a Saturday at 7pm is going to be a bit crowded, and loud. That's my fault, and testament to their quality. Next, I found the staff to be great! Even the doorman gave it character, cowboy hat and boots and all! Great experience!

Who doesn't love the idea of a speakeasy?? We decided to head to Roseville in pursuit of a secret place. We found the secret door, knocked, and a young man answered. He asked for the password. Unfortunately I am not on social media and that's where you're supposed to find it. Bummer! I decided to use my own password. It worked and we entered the inner sanctum. It was a cool, smallish place with nice decor. The bar was the first thing we saw. I looked around to see a few tables and couches to the left. It was pretty early and there were only a few people there so we got a cozy little table in front of a velvety couch. I went to the bar where a burly tattooed OG bartender greeted me. I ordered an old fashioned and a raspberry lemon drop. My old fashioned was done very well. I'm on an old fashioned kick right now and love to try them at different places that look like they know how to make them. This one was really good. My friend wasn't so keen on her lemon drop, saying the lavender was a bit overpowering. We had another round and this time she had something different that she enjoyed. My second old fashioned was just as good as the first. It was getting later and more people happened to have the password and it was getting crowded. We were done, paid the tab, which wasn't bad considering how most speakeasy's can be pretty pricy. Overall, it was a great experience, the place was nice, friendly, and the drinks were done well. We opted to sit in the outside patio area. They have a few tables inside, but if you have a larger party, you'll probably need to go outside. The patio is covered and has a few big fans overhead. They did some renovation over this past winter; I know bc I tried stopping by and they were closed due to it. When I went this past time, the inside looked pretty much the same ( based on my bad/faulty memory). The patio was different bc one side is completely covered, and I noticed a pulldown screen and projector overhead. The menu seemed a bit different this time. No more meatball appetizer unfortunately. Our server was nice and attentive (this time and last). The food: - Spicy Caesar (Romaine, home-made spicy Caesar dressing, home-made croutons, parmesan shavings, cracked black pepper and salami crisps): good stuff. Not really a healthy salad but a tasty one. The croutons are nice and light (not unpleasantly crunchy). The dressing has a nice little kick to it. I'd recommend. - Helena pizza (House-made Italian sausage, salami, pepperoni, San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, pepperoncini, and Parmesan): the pizza crust here is the best in the greater Sacramento area. Hands down. It's so wonderfully light and chewy. I wish they'd use a bit more sauce on their pizzas as they eat a bit dry. And, I think some extra sauce would balance the saltiness of the toppings as well (and, the pizza does eat a bit too salty for my tastes). - Classic Pepperoni pizza (Pepperoni, San Marzano tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, parmesan cheese): similar experience as the Helena: stellar crust, not enough sauce, and a bit too salty. - Beer: they have a half dozen or so local brews on tap as well as a larger selection of cans/bottles, which include both local and macro brews. Thumbs up. Overall, this is a good pizza place that's worth checking out. I'm only knocking a star off bc the balance of sauce and toppings on the pizza was a bit off. But, I'd still go back!
