Back in the Habit at The Habit Burger Grill - Universal City For fast food flare at the Universal Citywalk's food court, located on the second floor of this outdoor emporium of eats, treats, shops, sips, entertainment, collectible and more. This Habit has good food, good service, fair deals and an easy layout with kiosks for you to self order as well as registers for you to order with a live person. Customizing is much easier with one of the two kiosks, so definitely a prefered method for myself. It seems like aside from it's classic Charburgers and Sandwiches, they offer even more veggie options than I remember. A lot of vegan options including a veggie burger, impossible burger, garden salad, sides, snacks and of course fountain drinks. If you order at the register they'll call out your number or name and if you order on the kiosks they just need the last 4 digits of your phone number (you enter after you complete your order) which will also provide you with updates on your food status if you decide to venture for a little bit, find a table in the shared food court or step outside. The combos can be a good deal, more detailed offerings on the kiosk rather than the main menu board. You can get refills for drinks near the entrance/exit as well as napkins. Overall a solid spot to stop in before or after a movie if you want something convenient and enjoyable. Goodness.... I ordered fries. That's it. 15 minutes later I received a small bag with less than half of an order of fries inside. They were cold. $6 in the trash. Overpriced for sure. Never again. This location is not bad. They do have some of the menu that the Original Hamburger Habit in Santa Barbara has, but it still does not compare to that location! I've been a fan of the Habit for years and it's nice to see other locations around California. They need to stay true to the original! read more

This Habit Burger is right on City Walk outside of Universal Studios. It's cheaper than the other restaurants around, but man they do not care about your food at all. I hate cold fries and what's worse than cold fries is cold garlic fries. Barely any garlic and cheese. My burger and my friend's double burger was lukewarm. I asked for extra onions but they didn't add them. Asked for ranch and they forgot. My friend went and got his ranch, buy I didn't feel like waiting for it. This was my first time having the Habit as someone who is vegan. I remember they didn't have any vegan options before and a manager rudely turned me away from another location about 4 years ago . Wanted to give it another try at this location since I'm here and they finally have a vegan option. I ordered their impossible burger ($10 and some cents) with no cheese and no mayo. I asked about their mushroom topping and they said that already premade in butter. They told me they don't use butter to make their onions so I got them grilled. I also got a side of fries. Keep in mind they do make the fries and impossible patty with other animal products just like other fast food locations. Fellow Vegans and vegetarians please eat at your own risk. The burger was alright. It was a good size. I was surprised to see that my impossible burger was slightly bigger than the cheeseburger counterpart ($9 and some cents) that my girlfriend got. I appreciated the fresh veggies like their tomatoes and lettuce. They don't give water cups at this location. The cashier who helped us didn't know anything about their products so he kept asking the cashier right next to him. It was a busy location since it was at the food court at universal city walk so ambiance is loud since the seats are shared with all the other restaurants . For being in a touristy food court the food here is pretty food quality. It's busy and full of people deciding what to get but in the end the burgers are the same as other Habits around. They have a order kiosk to order tour food quicker than waiting in lines to get to the cashier, so that's an option. The charburger with cheese was great and fries came out hot and cooked right. Don't forget the shakes. I recommend the cookies and cream, really hits the spot after walking around Citywalk. There's plenty of tables out in the court although it gets chilly at night. read more

I love the habit burger and grill but this location was pretty disappointing. I ordered food on the self service kiosk. When I picked up my food I asked for my soda cup from the worker. The manager beelined over and grabbed my receipt off my tray to make sure I had paid for the soda, then told the employee to make sure to hand me the medium size cup not the large. I understand if they have some sort of policy they must follow, but he did not say a single word to me and made me feel like I was just trying to sneak a free soda when they were the ones giving me an incomplete order. I really don't get the negative reviews here. It's the Habit. If you like the Habit then you like the Habit. It's a special location because it's in city walk. Kind like a Starbucks in the airport. It costs more and they don't accept coupons or deals that work at other locations. We got the Santa Barbara Char burger, grilled cheese sandwich and Cuban Char. Also Brussel sprouts. All the food was good. Probably wouldn't order the Cuban char again. It was a bit smaller than their normal burgers. This is by far the worst habit location I have EVER visited in my life. The employees are rude and disrespectful. I placed a very simple order, after waiting a while I get the order and it was wrong. I take the order back to the counter and the cashier proceeds to tell ME what I ordered. Attitudes were so bad,l and unapologetic I said never mind just give me my money back. Rosa (a terrible Habit employee) then comes over to inflame the situation to the point where it was almost a full blown altercation, then threatens to call the security for an almost altercation that she started. The manager took forever to come out and couldn't even process a refund. States that it won't be processed until the next day by her boss. I will NEVER EVER come back here. Wow! I went in here and asked the cashier to help ring me up because the self check out screen was taking too long. She responded with an eye roll. I tried to be polite and smiled and continued on with my order. She asked me if the food was to go or for dine in. I asked her what the difference was and she rudely responded with well do you want a bag or not? Again, I tried to ignore it since I was here on a family vacation. After waiting outside I noticed that everybody after me received their order so I went in to get my food. I asked if the Cobb salad came with dressing and she turned around and spoke Spanish to her manager in the blue shirt. The manager responded back in Spanish walked over to me and dropped off a light pink dressing, never said a word and they just kept speaking Spanish to each other. While we were eating outside, my 8-year old Asian-looking son wanted water. I asked him to go inside and ask for water. They told him that they don't give out water cups and he needed to go to Taco Bell. So my Caucasian husband went in and came out with a cup of water. Wow! I wish I could give zero stars, this was the worst experience we've ever had going to any eating establishment in our lives! It was Christmas night in the Universal City Block's second floor dining area, and our first time tasting this chain. I had never heard of it. My girlfriend had never tried it but said that she had heard it was highly popular and asked if I wanted to try it for my Christmas dinner while she ordered her KFC. I said sure, it sounded good. She gave me some money as a gift to purchase it, it cost $18.69. Because of severe allergies, I have to order a burger a very specific way otherwise I can get very ill. So as with any other burger restaurant, I ordered it the same way as I always do. While the service was fast, they accidentally got my burger made wrong. So I went back and politely asked for another one since the first was not edible. They made a second one just as quickly, but they got the second burger wrong as well. My girlfriend, who was happily eating her KFC, grew very concerned and suggested I take the receipt to the counter to request a refund to get her money back instead. So I went back to the counter and politely explained to a young clerk what had happened and asked if I could have a refund. She took the receipt, stepped into the back area for a moment, then said that she gave it to the manager and that he would be helping me. The manager - who was middle-aged, in a blue shirt, black haired, and appeared sloppy and unshaven - then came storming out to me scowling. He didn't even say hello, he just snapped as he held out my receipt, "What do you want?" When I politely tried to explain he didn't even let me say more than a few words, instead he interrupted me and yelled at me at the top of his lungs, and I mean he YELLED at me, in front of everybody there that he wasn't giving me a refund and that it was supposedly all my fault! I jumped I was so shocked, everybody else in a restaurant turned and stared, and at that point my girlfriend had just come up to the entrance to see how it was going and also saw it for herself. I was horrified, he could have at least been nice about it, but I did NOT appreciate being screamed at like that, especially on Christmas day! My girlfriend was furious, I was literally in tears leaving, we then went to an office at Universal where we were instructed to go by Universal's security to let staff know what had happened. A representative we spoke to there said nodding, "Obviously he's mad because he has to work tonight, but that's no excuse for him to take it out on you folks." She then said that they would be letting a manager know so that they would head over to have a talk with the Habit manager to tell him that he couldn't be upsetting their guests on their property. I'm currently doing all I can to contact Habit's corporate number to tell them what they did to us, it completely ruined our entire Christmas. I'm still trying to get my girlfriend's $18.69 back, as she doesn't have a lot of money, is very angry and disgusted with Habit over the situation and wants her money back, it was all thoroughly horrendous! As mentioned, it was the very first time trying a Habit burger restaurant, will never try again. Judging by the negative reviews I've seen on here, this sort of nonsense appears to be perfectly normal for them. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

What kind of restaurant establishment refuses to give you a cup of tap water with your meal order? They said I had to purchase a fountain drink or buy a bottle in order to get water. Once I asked for a manager, all they gave me was a small shot glass size cup that fits maybe a sip or two. I realize it isn't law to provide free tap water, but there's a reason why every other restaurant anywhere does: it's common decency. It gave me 2 options to select, no cheese and with cheese, so I selected with cheese and went ahead and modified my burger to no tomatoes, and got a side of the sweet potato fries with the spicy red pepper sauce. When I got my order I also asked for a cup of water and they said they don't offer cups for water, I spoke with a manager and she said that they just don't offer water cups, but if any guests were to bring their own bottles they can refill their water bottles with water at their soda fountain. I went to go sit down and realized my burger didn't come with cheese so I spoke with someone. She if I want cheese I would select with cheese then go into the customization and then add the cheese myself for $1. I think with the system like this for the kiosk if you're gonna have select choices for cheese or no cheese if someone wants cheese just automatically charge it for that selection completely ruined. Love habit burger back in Az and was happy see one here, but can't get behind the one in studio city . My partner and I bought 3 entrees at the restaurant and asked for a water cup and were refused. We either had to buy a bottle of pay $4 for a cup. I was happy to pay for the cost of a cup, but $4 for water is in very poor taste especially for a paying customer.
