Life would be SO MUCH EASIER if In-N-Out expanded to Western Washington!!!! I just want a quality fast food burger at a decent price and it is SO HARD to find one! I had a HORRIBLE experience here over a year ago and today was my first time giving them another try. Over a year ago I was served a burnt burger in the drive through. Today I made sure I dined in so I could complain if another crappy burger was served. Just for today I would give them 4 stars. The burger was cooked properly and they did a nice job. I like that they offer grilled onions. Also ordered onion rings and they were also pretty good. I like that they have fry sauce inside and the interior is modern and while my table could have been cleaner it wasn't bad. I ordered on the mobile app and the food was ready when I arrived. We ordered the Baja Crispy Fish sandwich and a chocolate shake to-go. I went inside to pick up my order and I told them my name. I was told my order was almost ready just needed finish fixing the shake. I noticed my order was sitting on the cold table not under a heat. Food was good but customer service was awful. Had a coupon for free burger n since I bought other items I didn't notice till I was leaving counter that they hadn't subtracted the coupon. The guy was nice, gave me back my free coupon and also gave me a $10 gift certificate, so everything worked out. Until I went back to use free coupon. I stood at counter for ages without ever being acknowledged. Another couple came in n were waiting behind me n finally asked me if anyone was helping me but I told them despite several people working there not a single one made eye contact or even said a word to me. When they finally did the woman was rude. She also would not let me use the coupon n my gift certificate. Said I couldn't use 2 coupons so I tried to explain to her that one was a coupon but the gift certificate is actually a form of payment, NOT a coupon. During this same visit my daughter (SEPARATE from me) tried to use her BOGO coupon but was told she could only get two of the same thing. Despite her coupon saying that the customer would have to pay for the more expensive item (which obviously implies DIFFERENT items) which she wanted to do however the lady again said it had to be two of same item. I have visited other Habit locations before. This one is a new location and it's closer to where I live so we decided to stop by and check it out. When we arrived and walked in the door, there were two kiosks. Also two registers at the counter, but nobody was at either one of them at the time, gave it kind of a McDonald's feel. Upon check out the screen changed before I could enter in my whole email address to receive the receipt from my order. We were texted when our order was ready and walked up to the counter to pick up our food. There is a self-service beverage center as well as a pepper bar. Our food came out fresh and we left full. Somebody in the kitchen in heavy handed on the mayo/aioli--made the burgers not as enjoyable as we have had in the past. I do like their ranch. Overall the food was just okay. The dining area could have been wiped down a bit. Tables were greasy and benches had crumbs. Wrappers on floor under table. Restrooms were clean. Watched interactions between workers and customers. Saw a few bumps, but any issues seemed to be handled well. read more

Came here for a quick lunch. Midday, no line in drive thru. Got the DBL Char Cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. The Good- Onion rings were on point, crunchy and fresh tasting. Nice sized side ranch and fry sauce was also good. The Bad- pricey. 16$ for the burger and fries and 4$ for the rings. Ouch. I would've loved more of each of the fries and rings as they come in those little rectangle trays. Fries were soft and not crispy whatsoever, except for the little 1" long shards. The Ugly- Shopped lettuce. W T F ?! Chopped lettuce belongs on tacos, or in a salad, NOT on a burger. Not thinly sliced, but big 1" square cuts. Made it very hard to eat, lettuce falling everywhere, the patty sliding around on the bigger pieces. Dealbreaker? No, but really, who does this? No one, that's who. They sell salads there too, guess what's in them? CHOPPED LETTUCE. Me thinks they are just using lettuce from salads to supplement for their burgers. Ordered a uber eats an hour before closing on a Sunday and had 2 drivers come and leave. Terrible.

I can't recall waiting almost 20 minutes in a 4 car deep drive through line, just ridiculous! First and now last time to this place. The burger was salty AF and the onion rings were burnt to a crisp and inedible. The burger patty was much smaller than the bun too? Who does that? The chocolate shake was ok. Hot and tasty food! We really enjoyed our visit and I will note that while the inside (really nice and not freezing in the hot weather) was not occupied, they were busy with drive thru and on line orders. The order taker was very efficient but once you've been here, or for those comfortable with it, they have two self order kiosks. The cost is higher than the usual fast food and geared to a more health minded clientele which makes for some great food. We had chicken bites and fries, Charburger and a veggie burger. We will definitely be back! I have to say I would skip a couple visits to other fast food to come here once. I would 10/10 recommend to everyone who wants a great tasting meal. Disappointing! The food was nasty! The burger was not aesthetically pleasing to the eye nor taste, it was soggy, and the fries tasted stale. Also, the restaurant was disgustingly dirty. At first glance, I assumed it was because they were busy, so cleaning got neglected but I was wrong. I witnessed downtime. One employee was on break (see pictures) and sitting within an area that needed cleaning. She was a little to comfortable (inappropriately) listening to social media aloud, feet up relaxing. My family ate at the Habit Burger for the first time today. We placed an order through the app, where we were able to use a six dollar off coupon. That was nice. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up, service was quick, and the staff was friendly. We decided to try a lot of menu items. My wife had a char burger with cheese, I had a double char with cheese. My daughter had the chicken nuggets kids meal. We also tried the fries, green beans, side salad, and a strawberry sundae. It was all pretty tasty. The burgers in particular are quite good, especially compared to other fast food places in University Place. Restaurant ratings are all relative, and they should be; we're not in Seattle and we have limited options. So yeah, it's a great burger for UP. Unfortunately, everything else was too salty. If they weren't so heavy-handed with seasoning, it would be a five star. read more

I want to preface this by saying I used to live in socal where Habit started and for a long time they were my go-to burger chain. 20 years ago they had already expanded well beyond the original Santa Barbara stand but it was still good. In 2023 however The Habit in general is a mediocre burger on a good day. That said I wanted to give them another try since it has been a couple years since my last Habit burger. I stopped in to check it out and like the last few years it wasn't bad just nothing special and it's pricy for what it is. I will say at least it was clean (unlike the couple of times I have gone to the Pearl location), and the staff was nice (again unlike Pearl) Tacoma (and UP and Lakewood) has an abundance of great burger places all for about the same price or lower, any of which I would rather go out of my way for. Here's what we get, 40 mins to make 2 double cheese burgers wrong .must be very stupid it says no mayo, no pickle, add bacon. Here's the picture of what I get. No bacon. They must be very stupid, a forth grader could get this right . Your regional lady must not care either, cause she hasn't solved the problems at the Tacoma location either. If I could give them less than a one star I would. I ordered an online app order and went through the drive through to pick it up. I've done this before, it was never an issue. I was the second car in the cue. It took them over 30 minutes to help the person in front of me and then another 10 minutes to help me, the women working the drive thru were too busy discussing their nails. This was at approximately 9:30pm. When they finally gave me my order, the food was cold and when I mentioned this to the woman working the drive thru, her response was to rudely tell me that I should've come in the restaurant instead of using the drive thru. Even though I've done this before, even though they knew I was in the drive thru to pick up an online order. My food was inedible and they refused to give me a refund. Our family was in the area & tried Habit out after driving past. The customer service was great! We just went through the drive-thru but the drive-thru attendant & the two working the window were friendly & answered all our questions. We ordered two BBQ Bacon Char burgers, sweet potato fries, onion rings, & a kids cheeseburger meal. I'd say the burgers were definitely better than typical fast food burgers. My kiddo enjoyed their meal, especially the fries. The star of the show for me were the onion rings. We live on the other side of town, but I will be making special trips just for those onion rings. The worst experience i've had at the habit. my burger was dry, no mayo mustard or ketchup. no cheese on my portabella char. i am realizing that the portabella char is supposed to come with garlic aioli. MINE CAME DRY!! my partners burger on the other hand, was extremely soggy. i ordered 2 sides of ranch and ketchup, they didn't give me any sides. i requested both of my burgers with no tomoato, both had tomato. the only thing that was somewhat good was my fries, but even then they're soft and lacking salt. i will drive back to pearl street before i eat at this one again. read more

I've wondered about this chain of burger restaurants for years and even remember hearing good things. So when the new one in University Place opened I figured I'd try it finally. TERRIBLE BURGERS! This place must be joking to pride themselves on burgers. The burger was super thin, way overcooked and very small; way more bun than burger. Like when you get to that last bite of burger and there's still 20% of the bun left. Weak! I've had better burgers at Mc Donald's and I hate Mc Donald's. The fries at the Habit were only so so. Overall not a satisfying place to get a burger. If you want a really good burger in the Tacoma area go to Ooh Lala Burgers or The Gourmet Burger Shop in Gig Harbor. i paid nearly $19 for a fast food, drive through single cheeseburger, half fries/half onion rings, and a shake. Ridiculously expensive for fast food but the worst part , and the reason I won't be back, is the tip cup and the fact that you have to click through a tip screen just to pay. I don't tip at McDonald's, Burger King, etc. What's next, the grocery checkout person is going to expect a tip? How about the cashier at Home Goods? Maybe the receptionist at my doctor's office? If I sit down in a restaurant and get table service, with someone making sure my drink is full, etc, then absolutely, 20% tip. But not the cashier at the drive through. Are we supposed to tip everyone we pay no matter what it's for? Came in tonight for a quick meal after a long shift at work. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and to my surprise and manager remembered myself and my husband from the grand opening. Those little touches just made this spot special. The burgers were juicy and delicious. I had the original and he had the double. My favorite item on the menu are the tempura green beans! They were crispy and delicious and not oily. Pairs well with the in house ranch. That stuff is white gold. So good and full of flavor. When you guys go done forget to try a shake. The strawberry tasted like a shake from a 50s diner and was thick and creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. It was the dessert to our meal that we shared. Check out the Habit in UP!
