Haemaru is a great place to have the kimchi jungol, it is very special kimchi stew with a lot of pork belly meat in it. They are not skimpy about the pork meat and the taste of the food is so good. If you are a kimchi lover, must try this place and you will know how good they are. They just updated the wallpaper on the wall and looks so much better and cuter.

I think I've been to Haemaru more than 30 times so far. Every time I visit, all the food is consistently delicious, and the staff are always very kind, which is why it's one of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant is also very spacious, so it always feels comfortable and pleasant. Last night, after spending the entire day at the hospital with my father, I came here for dinner with my family. I usually come for the seolleongtang and galbitang because they're always excellent, but this time I tried the kimchi pork belly hot pot, and it was absolutely delicious. The service was incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. I definitely want to come back again for their seolleongtang and galbitang.

Tried the Leng Saab dish with a bigger party. It was overhyped. The meat was tough, BUT I did like the spicy and sour sauce that is central to Thai cuisine. Still rating Haemaru a 5-star for their soup dishes.

We weren't originally planning on eating at Haemaru, but we needed something with no wait at 6:30pm on a Saturday, and this was it. Surprisingly, the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived - it was honestly a little eerie - and considering all the restaurants nearby had lines, I thought the food must not be that good. Luckily, I was wrong. I ordered the salkogi sullungtang, or ox bone soup with beef brisket. It was very comforting and almost addicting - I finished the whole bowl, soup and all. It is pretty light in flavor, but if you're in the mood for something healing and light yet filling, I'd highly recommend this soup. The brisket in the soup is tender and a decent portion, although I would love if there was even more meat. I also tried some of the meat from the tail gomtang (oxtail bone soup), and thought it was also decently tender but would probably still order my dish instead. The marinated pork ribs were also delicious but quite sweet if that's something you would prefer to avoid. They also provided complimentary banchan (radish and cabbage kimchi, bean sprouts) to start, all of which was pretty good. The one critique I'd have about this restaurant is that service was somewhat slow considering we were the only customers in the restaurant, but it was nothing crazy. Our server was nice and we got everything we needed, which is all that matters. The restaurant is probably more suitable for a casual outing, so you can come as you are. I think it'd be great for families, friends, or casual dates. I don't know why the restaurant was so empty when I went, but I'd love to see Haemaru succeed because I totally see myself coming back. Please give this place a try so it isn't so empty next time!

We came to try the leng Saab and it was as good as I imagined. The pork fell apart nicely from the bone and complimented well with the spicy tangy sauce. If you are a fan of Thai food, you will love it. The fish sauce is very prominent. However, I think the pork rib is slightly overcooked for me. Since this is a Korean restaurant, we tried their signature sulluntang. It was very good - the soup was flavorful and fresh. You can tell it's cooked for a long time. It was so good that we drove back after leaving the same day for take out. The lady who took care of us was super kind and helpful. She taught me how to eat leng Saab. She was very attentive. The interior is quite spacious and can sit quite a few table. We came during the not so busy time so we didn't have to wait. The parking is right behind the structure. It's free until 4pm and it will be valet only. Overall a great experience, and would like to bring family back and try other items on the menu.

Valet parking in the back for like $2 It's a nice friendly Korean spot that had a handful of older people gathering for a meal. Perhaps it was the day we came. But overall had a good meal Staff was nice and the ambience was chill with families We got too much food for two people but had to try it This place doesn't seem too packed nor too empty so it's a nice gem

Hidden gem for authentic and comforting Korean food!   I came around 5:30pm on a Monday, and there was barely any diners at the time yet, so there were a lot of booths open. The interior is spacious and I love how they have a big window showing the cooking process for some of their iconic dishes as well as monitors displaying menu items.   I got the Salkogi Sullungtang and it was amazing, it rivals that of Hanbat. The broth was creamy and was packed with a generous portion of beef brisket. I seasoned it with a couple dabs of pepper and two scoops of salt alongside the green onions which seasoned it perfectly. I also loved the banchan options. May favorite was the fresh kimchi, crisp and delicious. It paired well with the beef and rice.   My servers were super nice and attentive too. There is also free parking from 4pm-11pm out in the back and there are usually plenty of spots.   I would definitely come back here with friends and family to try the combo deals and dishes like the leng saap which are super unique.

Overall a great experience that i took my family from Mississippi to. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious inside. The ladies and the owner were very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious and flavorful. I look forward to coming back and trying more. I will say the spice level was a bit hot for me but others in my group were totally ok with it.

Came here with a huge party of 11, and Haemaru was super kind and accommodating for us all! My favorite dishes were the bossam, sullungtang, and fried pork ribs (soy flavor). Everything we ordered came out to only $31pp, and we left stuffed. The interior was super spacious and clean! Parking was $3 valet, $2 with validation from staff.

To start off with all the good things: easy parking, fast service, clean tables and chairs, and friendly staff. We got the small galbijjim to share with two people. It was 6 smaller ribs with mushrooms, potatoes, rice cakes, onions, and carrots. It was definitely a small size for the price and was a bit over spicy. Sauce was okay. Would come back to try the soups instead.

Had a party of 14 Saturday for lunch Called days in advanced for reservation but at arrival the place was empty Can't speak to the authenticity of the food but service was lack luster Bill was over $500 and we tipped 10% was harassed to leave a larger tip despite explaining service was sub par at best... Granted there were about 3 servers and we were the only ones in the restaurant for majority of lunch Water was refilled once after being flagged down (it's Korean style where its JUGS and we refilled our own cups) Never got a refill on the banchan Wasn't asked if we needed anything else Disappointing to see pics of acorn jelly and broccoli as sides but was only given three Kimchi Radish Jalapeño onion Food was brought out in half hour intervals which is fine it's a large group Galbi was super fatty Sauce for the bossam was brought out at the end of the meal Walked up to counter to pay and to get to go boxes lol servers never even had to take the 10 steps to our table We didn't even ask to split the bill to make it easier on them Don't know about you but demanding a LARGER tip ruins any dining experience in my opinion Take the two minutes to add it to your menu instead of harassing your customers Also woman who demanded a higher tip wasn't even the one who served us water lol

No frill Korean soup restaurant. The dining area is pretty big and clean. There wasn't a wait when a friend and I went for a late lunch on Saturday. We both got the Yukgaejang and it did not disappoint. The spicy beef soup comes out in a stone bowl and is piping hot. We also shared a mung bean pancake and it was huge! With 3 large patties, can be shared with a family of 6 for appetizer. Downside is that they only have 3 types of side dishes: kimchi cabbage, kimchi radish and seaweed. They also share $1 per togo container.

Service was pretty good, I went early in the morning when I was hungover so they were luckily pretty fast at bringing out the food. I asked for a refill once on banchan and they loaded up on that. Ambiance was normal, I was probably to a second customer if that day and I was just trying to survive so didn't notice too much. Food was the only part that was slightly off. I would give them a 4.5 if that was an option. The rice was a bit soggy but could be a one off thing. The broth wasn't as flavorful as hanbat or Lee ga but they open early and you got to do what you need to do to survive a hangover

But as beef stew goes...it wasn't stew-ish enough. Mostly because it has some strong seasonings, and the pieces of beef were cut really small, so it was more like a beef stir fry. That said, it was really tasty. Very flavorful, and the quality of the beef was good. I can see myself going there again. As for he place itself, the staff were nice, though going at lunch meant they were a little (and understandably) distracted. The website makes it seem like it's just for pick-up or delivery, but they have a couple small tables, both inside and outside. And I do mean small. Two people max. There's also a decent sized parking lot (the place is in a mini mall), and there's usually street parking, but at the moment Wilshire is under construction, so plan accordingly.

It's been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that... and I'm very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. Super comforting with a really balanced tang and peppery heat. Not overly thick or heavy like a lot of Americanized versions can be. Exactly the kind of soup you want during a long travel day. For noodles, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles 擔擔麵. Sesame-peanut sauce, cucumber, cilantro, crushed peanuts. Delicious on its own already, but I ended up adding some of the fried peanuts from the salad into the noodles and it became even better. Then the Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 with sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine, and Thai basil. I do wish it had a little more wok hei, but overall the flavor was still really comforting and savory. Extremely good with rice. Had a glass of Gewürztraminer alongside everything, which paired surprisingly well with the spice and aromatics. Their wine list leans more organic / natural wine focused, which felt very LA in a good way. Ended up sitting at a high top next to one of the managers and had a great conversation throughout the meal. She ended up hooking me up with the Traditional Shaved Ice 傳統刨冰 with grass jelly, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls, taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and condensed milk. I was already planning to order it anyway, and wow... I finished the entire thing. The brown sugar syrup was incredibly fragrant.
