Chic Hwe Naeng Myeon (Raw Fish Cold Noodles) on Bottom
    Winn H.

Yuchun is one of my friend's favorie spots for naengmyeon (cold noodles), and for a summer night - yes, I'll try it! There is parking in the small lot, though finding parking on the streets isn't too difficult either. Service was fairly quick and efficient - almost too quick, as I needed an extra minute to figure things out. Overall, I ended up trying their Chic Hwe NaengMyeon (Raw Fish Cold Noodles). While waiting for the food, there's a self-service bone broth to enjoy - though piping hot! What surprised me was that the cold noodles came lightly deconstructed - is this the "chic" way? I will admit putting the dish together was quite fun even though it was really just pouring the sweet, sour, spicy broth into already pre-prepared ingredients. The raw fish one in particular was a chore to eat. I'm no stranger to raw fish, but the bones were quite annoying to eat around. I chewed my way through one and tried de-boning the other - not the most convenient bites. Other than that, the noodles were chewy and very tasty. Though the fish itself was a chore to eat, I really enjoyed this "newer" (to me) way to enjoy cold noodles - fully dry before broth immersion. It opened my eyes to enjoying this dish a new way. I'm not sure if I'll be back, but I'd be lying if I said that the noodles themselves had a remarkable texture.

The food was so delicious!! It was my first time trying this type of noodles and I definitely would eat them again. They are super chewy (so I am glad the server cut them up a bit), the sauce is really flavorful and I loved the icy broth it comes with. The kimchi mandu are huge and super flavorful. I also loved the self serve broth! The service was good, and we were able to find parking in the lot so that was nice. I will definitely be back

Walked in for a late lunch, around 3 pm, and got seated and ordered immediately. My food came out approx 10 min late, I got the combo mul naengmyeon and kalbi. Both were great, until I cut my mouth on a piece of hard plastic that was in the soup. Honestly, mistakes happen and the food is otherwise great.

One of the most consistent naengmyeon places in K-town. Both the mul or bibim are great. The spice level w/gochukaru and gochujang are perfect for me. Everyone who has been here also enjoys the bone/beef broth that is available for self service. Their combos with kalbi is great too. As you know everything has gone up in price. So don't be alarmed! The service is always good too. It gets very busy at times so come on non peak times. Enjoy!

Visited Yuchun in Ktown and had a pretty good meal overall. We ordered two of the combos so we could try both the spicy and non-spicy cold noodles paired with the galbi. Both versions of the noodles were tasty, and the galbi had great flavor. My only real complaint is that the combos didn't come out with the traditional variety of banchan (side dishes) you usually expect when getting Korean food. If you're coming strictly for a solid noodle and meat combo it hits the spot, but just keep the lack of side dishes in mind! Parking also limited

When the weather starts getting hot then it's a great time to get Korean cold soba noodles! This place will typically have a line and a wait. I got here in the late afternoon around 2 pm on a Saturday and waited for about 15 mins. I got the Chic Saekimi Naengmyun (#4 on the menu) and a plate of their Kimchi Mandu. The Kimchi Mandu are so huge and filled with lots of kimchi and pork. The Naengmyun was really refreshing and had a good chew. For the uninitiated, it may be a bit much but I really enjoyed the crunch from the veggies and dried beef. Overall, one of the top spots to grab Naengmyun!

Hot days = cold noodles! Super tiny parking lot, get ready to wait! My friend and I came at 1:30pm on a Saturday and there was still a pretty long line. Inside is pretty spacious! We ordered the chic mul naeugmyun and the kimchi wang mandu. Food came out pretty quickly. They even had a self serve bone broth. I found the hone broth to be extremely salty but it might be because the tank was running out. I loved the cold noodles - refreshing and so chewy. I was pretty disappointed with the kimchi mandu. There was so much hype around them but I found them to be pretty underwhelming. It was hard to flag a staff down for our bill and for any requests. Would come back for the cold noodles!

It felt like being back in Korea at Yuchun Restaurant. We enjoyed the naengmyeon, and especially appreciated the complimentary hot soup broth available for self-service. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly, but there is a small parking lot in front.

This is THE best place for naengmyeon and I crave it every time I'm in Ktown. Horrible parking (I recommend parking in the mall parking structure nearby if you can't find parking and walking over) but worth it. Very spacious inside with friendly service. You can self-serve yourself a free broth which is so yummy and soothing to the soul. The naengmyeon is delicious -- perfect amount of vinegary and coolnes. Can't recommend enough.

Ughhh soooo good when you're craving naengmyeon and this place does it the best! The service is pretty standard and I love the homey atmosphere. There's also a self-service warm broth bar that is a MUST amongst all the cold noodles. Love coming here when I'm in la!

This is by far my favorite spot in LA for Bibim Naengmyeon! I make sure to stop here any time I'm in Koreatown. All of their food is excellent, and the service is fast and efficient. The restaurant is comfortable, and of course the bone broth on tap is always a must. 10/10

I've been here long time ago and it was probably my last time visited this place. Tastes was great long time ago but now I would not recommend. Waitress was accommodating. Old style modern place. I wish this place tasted back when I used to tried this place before.

seems like an authentic Korean restaurant! lots of tables for seating. around 10min wait after putting your name on the paper clipboard outside. they will call your name once the table is ready. got the cold noodle soup and dumpling hot soup. dumplings were huge and had kimchi inside, super delicious. soup could of had more flavor, so I added chili oil and flakes they had at the table. super filling. 1 soup is good for 2-3 people imo. cold soup was refreshing for the hot day!! Unfortunately, they had a limited menu at our visit (out of kalbi and other menu options so resorted to soup :( ) still delicious food and quick service. they were pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon. complimentary sides of kimchi and other goodies, as many other Korean restraints do. would def come back to visit again and hopefully try the rest of their food.

    Ask the Community - Yuchun

Are both noodle dishes gluten free or do they use wheat in the noodles/sauce?

Are the noodles the buckwheat type?

The noodles at Yuchun are chik. Chik in korean means 'arrowroot'. "Arrowroot" is a good carb, high in fiber and low in the glycemic index. It's not buckwheat.

Do they also serve hot soups?

Yes! Self serve hot broth by the register

Does anyone know if they serve alcohol here?

    Nopey dokie

Is there veggie broth available for the cold noodles? thank you :)

Naengmyeon is usually made with beef broth but there is an alternate variation made with dongchimi (radish water kimchi). You can try asking them for naengmyeon with dongchimi. I don't know if they have it, but I'd be interested in this too!

On our latest visit we took the Metro, exited at Wilshire/Normandie Station, and walked 8 minutes over. The restaurant seems to have updated their décor to a more modern and new look since my last visit. Also they have introduced a lot of new menu items, so it felt like an appropriate time to update my review and renew my support for the business. On prior visits I have tried both the Clam Kalguksu ($22.99) and the Chicken Kalguksu ($22.99). Both are delicious depending on what protein you are craving. The broth is incredible soothing and great for a cold day or just anytime you need comfort food. The noodles are chewy and pillowy soft, it just melts in your mouth. When we arrived on our latest visit it was as busy and popular as I remembered. We were lucky that they were able to seat us right away. This latest visit my boyfriend and I tried new items from their menu. My boyfriend had the Tokmanuguk ($20.99) which has rice cakes, dumplings, beef, egg, and carrot in their anchovy broth. I had the Chicken Jook ($23.99) which is the Korean version of a chicken porridge that comes with half a small chicken, green onions, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, squash, onions and topped off with a smidge of sesame oil. Our meals came with a little palette cleansing introduction of barley rice. Just a few bites, but it sets up your tastebuds for the meal. They also had some side dishes for the table. The food took a while to come out, but understandable for how busy they are. This food is made with love and your patience will be rewarded. When it came, it was SO DELICIOUS! I tried a bit of my boyfriend's food and it was so comforting. Perfect for those who like the chewiness of the Korean rice cakes or dumplings. I just love my chicken porridge a little more cause I'm obsessed with porridge whenever I can get it. I love how much vegetables Koreans are able to hide in their porridge while making the veggies so tiny, you won't even notice it. So healthy, delicious, and soothing. It was like a hug for my soul. Also, the portion was huge and both my boyfriend and I had a portion togo that was the size of another meal. You can't go wrong with their food here. I definitely want to make an effort to come back more often. Until next time!

Me and friend started with drinks at the bar - I got the hwachae milk punch, a pretty pink sip! My friend got the espresso martini, their take made with cold brew soju, Korean coffee mix, and makgeolli. Both were fun, well-balanced ways to kick off the night. Their honey butter chips were pretty delectable - fresh-cut potato, fried until crunchy and airy, then drizzled with a honey butter glaze that channels those nostalgic honey butter chip snacks. The sauce was good but can definitely be a sweetness overload, so if you don't have a sweet tooth, I would avoid ordering. Got the pine nut cold noodles, which was refreshing on a summer day - white noodles in a chilled soy milk broth with pine nut. The pine flavor was pretty subtle, so if you're into that, definitely get this, but for me it was just okay. The pork jowl was delicious though - comes with chili crisp and garlic rice, and we ended up taking some home because we couldn't finish it all! Service was great - we sat at the bar and got to watch the bartender work and chat. Parking can be hit or miss; you can either park in the several garage structures around ktown or the small paid lot in the Danbi plaza, but we came on a Thursday night and it was still pretty busy. Overall, a 9/10 meal with good vibes, cute drinks, and delicious food. Already dreaming about trying the galbi next time I'm here!

We went for the DineLA menu. We had reservations and were immediately seated. Overall, the restaurant had a modern, relaxed vibe. Our server was very personable and helped me choose the Kimchi Mule, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The food started rolling out right away, beginning with the Honey Butter Potato Chips. They were good, but probably not something I would order again. Next came the kimchi watermelon and spicy sashimi noodles, and I was impressed with both. I had a hard time imagining what kimchi watermelon would taste like and was surprised by how much I liked it. The spicy sashimi noodles were the standout for me. I kept going back for another bite and would come back just for those. The Corn and Cheese Roll came out next along with the Pork Jowl. Both were good, although if I returned, I would probably try something different. Up until that point, everything had gone extremely well. The food came out at a good pace, people checked on us, our waters were refilled, and dishes were cleared almost as soon as we finished them. Then we waited. And waited some more. Our server kept apologizing and telling us, "The dessert is coming!" After at least 20 minutes, we started talking about simply leaving without it. I finally flagged down the host and asked if there was a problem in the kitchen because we had been waiting so long for the parfait. A few minutes later, he came back and explained that there was an issue involving the whipped cream. At that point I asked how much longer we were expected to wait. Eventually the parfait arrived, and I couldn't help thinking that we had waited close to half an hour for what amounted to a small dollop of whipped cream on top. To make matters worse, the dessert wasn't very good. We couldn't finish it. I left disappointed, especially because the rest of the meal had gone so well. I know the kitchen delay wasn't our server's fault, but I would have expected someone to proactively explain what was happening or offer us another dessert rather than leaving us sitting there wondering when--or if--it was coming.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again.
