I've always been curious about Hahn's Hibachi, and I finally managed to make my way there by recommendation from a friend who had tried this place ~5-6 years ago. My first impressions was the interesting decor and menu style, which clearly takes inspiration from Tex-Mex places despite the very Korean cuisine-focused menu. The recommended highlights based on reviews are the bibimbap, which everyone else in my party got; on this colder dreary day, I opted for the soft tofu soup. From what I can tell, the bibimbap was very well done, including the sizzling bibimbap (equivalent to Dolsot bibimbap). The soft tofu soup had several different protein options (I went with beef); while the flavor was really rich and hit the spot, I felt that the soup to tofu ratio was a bit lacking from the tofu side. Service was incredibly friendly and another highlight of the visit. Overall, a reasonable spot for no nonsense korean food. Worth at least 1 or 2 revisits, but might not make it into my regular rotation. read more

A small casual eatery with great korean american fare. Great for bbq cravings, but with a korean flavor. The short ribs (galbi) was sweet and savory, my favorite of the different rib options. The tofu soup was the best I had in SF, which is different than the traditional flavor you find in most places. This one was more flavorful, less red and spicy tasting. The food gets a 5/5. The only caveat is that this is a small place with limiting seating and no restroom available in clear sight. read more

Hahn's is an oldie but a goodie. I still remember the days when there were multiple locations across SF where the most visited for us back then was the one on Polk. The Irving location is the only one left today. Recently in the area on a Saturday, we decided to grab lunch here. Our plans quickly changed when we couldn't find parking. We ordered to go and I got the bbq chicken (my usual). Since it was lunch, we didn't get our favorite apps, the stuffed mushrooms and chicken potstickers as that would've been way too much food. The bbq chicken was delicious but the sauce was an overly salty this time. Hahn's is a staple for me and a place that always brings back a lot of good meals and memories. read more

A nice, casual place for affordable and tasty food! Went on here on a whim and I liked that the menu was simple and had different lunch combos to make an easy decision. I got the Combo A with bbq chicken, shrimp tempura and pork stickers. Simple but good. Not much seating area, but you can order to-go or via DoorDash. Parking is hard in this area but this place is conveniently situated by a Muni spot. This is a no frills place, so don't expect anything special as far as decor or service but food is still tasty and an affordable option for SF! read more

My favorite go to place when I can't figure out dinner. This place has not fail me yet and service has always been consistent. I love the lady that run the place. She remembers everything I ordered. Always put in the hot sauce and kimchi for me without me ever reminding her. Kids...this is how you appreciate your customers and have integrity to go with it. She does it so gracefully and she can get busy but not once she turn into an emotional wreck with ppl. You can't find that in service business anymore. Well lately anyway. The ambiance is always friendly, clean, well organized and friendly. The staff in the kitchen are quick and polite. Not once I ever hear them raise their voice but kept their concentration at ease. A local gem! I'm a Korean food snob and often get a craving for it. There's currently three options in my neighborhood - and while I like all 3 for very different reasons - my favorite is Hahn's! I've only ordered the traditional Korean fare so can only speak to their hot stone and regular bibimbap and soft tofu soup - all with beef. Why do I like it? Look, I don't go out to eat for ambience. I want good food that I don't have time to cook at home. I also want the most bang for my buck. Most importantly, I don't want to feel rushed or guilted for taking my time eating. Hahn's is a hole in the wall place run by a Korean couple and their hired cooks - and they do a fantastic job! The food - yum! I really enjoy the bibimbap!!!! Their soft tofu soup is good as well - like better than I could make at home tbh (and I'm a good cook). Should you drive up from the South Bay to try Hahn's? Not unless you're already in the area. But do you really want a truly crispy hot stone bibimbap? Then come to Hahn's bc wow, they don't rush the rice crisping. It's sooooo good! And while you may think there isn't enough meat added to your bibimbap, I weighed out the portion at home and if you eat the entire bowl it's ~40g of protein in total. That's enough for even a bodybuilder. Ok ok, but seriously, this place is a neighborhood gem and to make sure I continue to have a no-frills Korean place to frequent, I'll be coming here as often as I can. Their Meat Mountain is da bomb. Enough to feed at least 2+. This combo consist of BBQ beef, pork, chicken & a side of kim chee & pickled bean sprout. They also have a good veggie stir fried dish for the those who have lessen their meat intake. It's fast Korean take-out @ it's best w/tempura available if the urge. Best Korean Food in San Francisco!! In house, try their (flavorful, aromatic, super fresh and delicious) sizzling bi bim bap. For take home (or to bring to Red Tail, the tap house/wine bar next door) try Han's regular bi bim bap. Their stir fries (vegan as pictured or all sorts of meats) and barbecue (pictured) are absolutely extraordinary. Truly. There's a newer flashier Korean joint down by ninth and Irving - but don't let it fool you! Hahn's - the Sunset's OG Korean restaurant - blows the other out of the water. It's more of a local secret than a tourist haunt. Your taste buds, your stomach and your spirit will thank you!! Hahn's is also run and cared for by the most kind, attentive and personable server/owner in the Sunset. (They also provide extra extraordinary lunch and dinner plates, if you're looking for somewhere special for your lunch break!) and once you're wowed, pls. spread the word. Ordered through Postmates and it took a little over an hour to come. I live quite far from this restaurant, so I guess that makes sense. I ordered combo # 2, which had bbq beef, shrimp tempura, potstickers, egg rolls, salad, rice, and kimchi. I added spice to my beef for an extra .50. It was mildly spicy. Wow the portions are huge! Loved my experience here. I was craving a Sizzling Bibimbap with beef and Manna was closed. Decided to give this place a try and I'm so happy I did. I would highly recommend! Although there were several other tables I was seated right away. Service was quick & efficient. My Bibimbop came out sizzling hot!! I was so impressed because it stayed sizzling for a while even when I started eating it. The rice at the bottom was perfectly crispy without being over-burnt. It was absolutely delicious! Price was also very reasonable. Total came out to $22 with tip. I will definitely be coming back and trying other things on their menu like their stuffed mushrooms. read more

It's been more than a decade when we would enjoy Hans in Noe Valley. We truly missed our lunches there and it deltoid and great value. After our son's soccer game at Beach Chalet soccer fields we were looking for an early dinner. Fortunately my wife thought abouts Hans in the Sunset. It's a very small restaurant on Irving Street and only one customer was inside. We were kindly greeted and seated. We ordered our favorites which were still on the menu. The grilled chicken with rice and a chicken pot on top a rice on a sizzling pot (still hot as we paid after our meal). All our entrees were wonderful and too much so we enjoyed it as leftovers. I stopped by for the first time for a quick lunch and I had a great experience. The place is pretty small, only about 8 tables but it was empty when we got there. I got the sizzling bibimbap with bbq chicken and it was really good! The stone bowl comes out piping hot and really crisps the rice up on the bottom, and I loved the texture that added. The egg comes over easy, but mixing everything together in the hot stone cooks the egg more. I loved all the different ingredients in the bibimbap they all had their own flavors and textures. It came with carrots, zucchini, sprouts, spinach, and some seaweed on top. The chicken was really juicy, though I wish there was more chicken in the bowl. I liked that I was able to add in as much gochujang as I wanted with their big squeeze bottle of it. It's a cute mom and pop shop and I will definitely be back again! read more

Our go-to takeout place. Healthy, delicious, affordable, and generous portions. We love both the bibimbap and the sizzling bibimbap. We usually get it with their delicious chicken but the bolgogi beef is also tasty. Udon is simple and fresh, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked veggies and noodles. Somehow the udon was still blazing hot after pouring into a bowl at home. We order for pickup and it's always ready within 15-20 min. We like eating in sometimes, too - cozy for a casual meal. what a gem i had totally forgotten about!! After a fun morning at the DeYoung with the kids we wanted a quick bite. my husband spent the better part of his 20s eating at Hahn's so it was quite nostalgic. Naturally we ordered the mountain of meat. that was a crowd pleaser! the Pork rib was a bit tough but tasty. i had my heart set on a healthier option so i wanted to the tofu stew but they didn't have tofu that day :/ kids also ordered potstickers and extra BBQ chicken skewers. Happy bellies all around. The BBQ sauce is plentiful and on the sweeter side. just wanted to share in case you were expecting something different, or something spicy like gochujang. it's too bad that most of the original locations have closed. happy to support Hahn's again next time we are in the neighborhood. read more

Came here for lunch on a Monday with some friends! We were seated right away and service was relatively quick. We had set our mind on tofu soups and ordered three of them right away! We were so excited. About 10 minutes later, the waitress comes back and lets us know that unfortunately, they ran out of tofu so we'd have to order something else. We were pretty disappointed and wished we were told this at the onset, but that's okay I know these things happen! In the end I decided to order a veggie udon, but unfortunately she said she didn't have udon either. I settled for some bibimbap. My friend ordered combo #3, but they ended up giving her combo #2. The food was decent. My friend who got the japchae had the best dish in our opinion :) in the end they tabulated our bill wrong too. We've been customers for many years and have enjoyed our meals here. They're consistently good! My bf likes they're spicy pork and beef plate. Though he feels he always needs more rice to go with the piled high meat! I usually order sizzling bi bim bop with chicken. I've always had the rice crispy on the bottom and done just right. San Francisco natives always find their way back to Hahn's Hibachi & I'm no exception. I sporadically visited the now-closed Noe Valley & West Portal locations, & to an even lesser extent, the locales at Polk & Irving Streets. We got delivery from here a couple weeks ago & everything tasted just as it always has. The Stuffed Jalapeños ($8.95) are mostly mild but there were a couple scorchers in the bunch (I remember Stuffed Mushrooms beingjust as good.) We ordered our usuals -- Pile O' Beef for him ($24.95) with the brontosaurus-sized rib being especially delicious, & Chicken Bi Bim Bap ($14.95) for me. Love the heathy dose of various veggies. Take-out with cousins in my teen years, catching up with girlfriends or casual date nites throughout my 20s -- Hahn's Hibachi has been reliably good for decades. While at UCSF visiting a family member, this place caught my eye. The owner was extremely kind and helpful, and I only waited about 10 minutes for my to go order. Took a 10 minute walk back to UCSF and the food was still hot. Chicken was tender and very well seasoned. Would recommend this place a million times and will be coming back! read more
