    Sushi dinner
    Dawn S.

For the price, this place is a good deal. My friend told me about this place. I was doing some shopping and decided to give it a go. The dining room had a fair amount of people. I was going to sit by the chefs but you couldn't really see anything. Plus being alone, it seemed like I would be the center of attention so to speak. Luckily they have a little bar in the front. It was quiet with a TV so I was able to dine alone without feeling weird. I ordered a sushi meal. It came with 10 pieces of sushi, soup, and a salad. The miso soup was good. The presentation was good but I didn't care for a few of the sushi items. Luckily there were enough things that I liked. While I wouldn't drive all the down way here just to eat, it is decent enough and a fair change from the other places in this shopping plaza. As previously stated, it is decent sushi for the price that you are paying. Lots of people were coming in as I well as eating and lots of to go orders were being placed as well. If you are doing some shopping and need a bite, stop by and give it a try.

I absolutely love their specialty rolls! All of their fish is super fresh. The lychee martinis are phenomenal. Try the seaweed salad! The atmosphere is always pleasant with the sweetest staff. I totally recommend for happy hour and sushi!

Randomly came here as our brunch plans went down the drain. Wasn't expecting much since the ratings were pretty low but after trying this place I was pleasantly surprised. Sushi Boat 4/5: At first sight it looked like the boat wasn't gonna be enough food for 3 people since its advertised for 2. After a few bites we were surprised how quantity wise they filled the boat pretty good. Everything was fresh as it can be & I would say the thing that stole the show for me was the Sashimi. The service was exceptional, our waiter was constantly coming with refills & always asked if everything was fine.

Great visit to Haiku, which feels like a hidden gem in Southpark Meadows. There are lots of other restaurants nearby (fast food, sit down Mexican, Italian, Vietnamese, Indian, etc.), but this is one of the only Japanese spots in the area. We had no trouble getting a table on a Friday evening around 7pm, so thankful we didn't have to wait in a long line or make a reservation. There was also plenty of seating at the sushi bar for those that appreciate a more traditional viewing of the chefs in action. For starters, I recommend the Harimaki as the favorite. For sushi rolls (which, see photos, they are sizable portions), the Longhorn roll was the table favorite. No drinks on this visit, but looks like they've got a solid option of cocktails and Japanese brews to try next time.

My husband and I loved the Love Boat! There was a good variety of meat and sushi and the price was excellent!

So far, we have quick service very quiet, not overpowering with the weight staff. Perfect balance. Food is delicious and tempura. The ambience is very calming, which is exactly what I was looking for right now before I go and paint with the twist.

As you leave Austin, the quality of sushi goes downhill fast. Haiku provides a great alternative to fighting traffic to get to the better places. The ambiance is nice, staff is quick to serve and genuinely cares and the environment is clean. The seaweed salad is so good. It's fresh with a nice spike of sesame oil and dressing are good but not so much it waters down the seaweed and cucumber. The miso soup is very flavorful with little pillows of tofu and a light dashi note in the background. The tempura app is great as well if you want traditional Japanese fried food including shrimp, broccoli, sweet potatoes, etc. As for rolls, the volcano roll is a good starter, fresh and not to adventurous. My favorite roll was the dynamite roll. Indulge with fried shrimp, avocado, cucumber wrapped in nori (seaweed) and topped with tasty and slightly spice sauces. My go to wrap is always the rainbow roll. Basically it's a California roll topped with fish like tuna, salmon, shrimp, white fish and sometimes avocado. What sets Haiku apart is the quality of the fish. Fresh and flavorful. Again, if you like further south and want a great sushi alternative to Austin, give this establishment a shot, you won't regret it.

The Sushi here is fresh, delicious and beautifully plated. Kyle and scorpion roll.

I intend to come back and dine in in the future. It just so happens that the last couple of times I've ordered from here I've had to do to go due to time constraints. The the sushi here is excellent. Large rolls, great flavors, fresh and enough to share. Until next time.

Bright and sunny, wide open with lots of natural light, tasteful hanging planters, and minimalist decor, there's nowhere to hide. It's a place to see and be seen, but not nearly as pretentious as that sounds. They just care about the details and it shows, including the attentive service and well balanced drinks. Though I feel like I should crawl back into the dark, dank dive bars that I know best, it's a gorgeous breath of fresh air for those good hair days. Generous parking lot, easy off the highway, good evening hours. The only thing I'll knock it for is being so far south! Anyone in the neighborhood has better treasure this place, since I won't be able to get out there that often.

This entire place feels like a cash grab following the mezcal trend. It's positioned as being a tequila/mezcal spot but their drinks are more basic than cocktails I can order at the airport. When I asked questions about the mezcal they use and offer the bartenders replies were always dealt with either annoyance and limited info or just an "I don't know." Plus it's $$$ you tip on top of the tip they already add but say nothing about? The basic cocktails that are known as Mexican street vendor drinks (not supposed to be $$$) can cost you over $20 alone! Then to be shady about tipping ... cash grab without a good experience. The there's the atmosphere... very limited parking shared with MANY other more busy bars, super loud inside because of no soft surfaces, and the worst part of all... the bench seats are built just tall enough that unless you're super tall, you'll have to sit at the edge of the bench and actively practice good posture. This more than the other things makes me want to leave immediately. You designed a bar to be pretty but in no way functional to its use. It's been a while since my last visit and honestly I chalked all this up to Austin's trend chasing entrepreneurs typical disconnected launch until I had AMAZING cocktails at another new spot that truly impressed with their same priced cocktails that were far far more intricate and creative PLUS they didn't try to con me out of more tip AND their space was warm, and inviting with truly exceptional customer service. That experience reminded me that inflation isn't the only thing making life more expensive ... it's also businesses delivering far less value than promised and demanding we are supremely grateful for their limited effort. If you don't want to leave the neighborhood but you still want a somewhat decent margarita .... it ain't here. Pay half the price at Bodhi's in the same parking lot.
