This review is SERIOUSLY a LONG time coming. So, a little backstory: I've always wanted fashion colored hair. You know, pink, blue, green, purple, etc, those "unnatural" shades that cause people to stop and wonder how you got the guts to do something "so crazy" but really it's not that crazy at all? Yeah, those colors. The problem? I'm Asian, and have "Asian hair" which is dark as sin and incredibly annoying to try and bleach and color well. That's when my coworker introduced me to Jason and I have refused to go to anyone else since. I got my hair colored by Jason about a year ago in November 2018 where I went rose-gold / light pink. GORGEOUS color that is a bitch to maintain but Jason worked his magic and I walked out feeling like a million bucks not just because of my new 'do but because of how Jason genuinely cares about his clients. I mean, where can I begin when it comes to Jason's customer service? 1) He's extreme personable. Friendly, fun, with lots of great stories, Jason is someone who can carry a conversation with you if you're the talking and curious type like I am. If you don't want to talk he 100% gets it and will let you do your work, read a book, or whatever as he does his magic. 2) He's transparent. You ever go to a salon and have five million people work on your hair and you have 0 clue what is going on? And when they pause to ask you what you want them to do "this super concentrated bleach or a lighter bleach that will take longer blah blah blah what are you saying???" And you have no idea how to answer? You're not going to get that with Jason. Jason is as transparent as you can get as a stylist and will walk you through every step of the process while heartedly. You can give him the vision and if he can execute it he will and he will tell you how he's going to do it. If he doesn't think he can do it he will explain to you why (maybe your hair is too damaged and he doesn't want to mess it up even more) and will offer you alternatives with explanations to why he has chosen this alternative: This leads me to: 3) He LOVES what he does and CARES about what he does. Jason isn't just a hair stylist, he is a passionate artist who loves what he does and cares about the people he works with. He knows that hair gives people confidence and is a big part of their identity, so never would he steer someone wrong. He's had years of experience and started working on hair since he was a teenager, so this isn't just a job to make money for him, this is a passion that he loves and thrives on. 4) He works with YOU the client. After going pink, I decided to go blue and stayed blue for a while. I've been with Jason for a year and have only stepped foot in his salon 3 times. That's right, 3 times. November: pink, March: blue, October: blue, again. He knows that I'm someone who doesn't really want to go to the salon often so he blends the colors into my hair to give the perfect illusion so that when my roots come out my hair still looks fresh. Even better? When I went to get my blue touched up in October I fully expected him to just slop on some color and give it a one note blue. I was dead wrong. Remember how I said Jason was an artist? He was not going to let me walk out with just plain blue hair. So, instead, I walked out with a blue baylage that still have people wondering how the hell my roots aren't messing up my looks yet. 5) He's realistic. All in all, Jason is at the end of the day human. He can give you the best haircut and color of your life but it is up to you to maintain it. Here, Jason is more than willing to sit down and help give you instructions while pointing you in the direction of all the great products you can use to maintain your hair. Like I said, he cares and wants you to feel good about about your new hair. I don't see myself straying from Jason any time soon and will be keeping him for all of my crazy hair sessions. Jason is by far the best hair colorist I have ever had. I have been coloring my hair blonde since I was about 12 years old. (I know, very young, but times were different back then.) It use to be to turn me from brunette to blonde but now that I am older it also entails covering up my gray hair! I was fortunate enough to move to Atlanta and my roommate immediately referred me to Jason. Since that day I never looked back. He could transfer me into a beautiful blonde. I would always tell him, "Make me as blonde as you can," and he always listened. I felt so privileged to know that the same person who colored the hair for the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders was also coloring my hair. He always made me feel and look like a celebrity. When he moved away from Atlanta I was devastated. All of his clients were, including my roommate. My roommate is a guy and he is also great with guy's haircuts! I am fortunate enough to travel for my job and when I found out I was going to be near Los Gatos a few weeks ago I immediately called Jason to see if he could fit me in. He could! I was so excited and my roommate was totally jealous. Jason has not always treated me with total respect and fulfilled my wishes but he has also become a good friend of mine. When I recently visited him in California he also took the time to show me the way he curled my hair with the curling iron.
