Hubby and I were in the mood to try somewhere new and were craving some crispy fried chicken, so we finally decided to check out Halal Fried Chicken! We ordered the 3-piece meal with fries and a side of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were super crispy and delicious. I didn't quite get the epic cheese pull I was hoping for, but they were still very tasty. Now for the chicken! The 3-piece meal came with a leg, thigh, and breast, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The fries were actually my favorite part of the meal. They were extra crispy, well-seasoned, and honestly hard to stop eating. We ordered takeout, so I do have one note about the packaging. The food comes in cardboard boxes, and with everything packed in a bag, the steam made the boxes a little soft and flimsy by the time we got home. It made them a bit awkward to carry, but the food was still piping hot when we sat down to eat. Okay we relocated from Bay Area to the valley and had been craving some good Halal Fried Chicken, I searched on Yelp to find out where we could find halal fried chicken near us. It showed this location but it was a 40 mins drive from where we live. We decided to try it out for ourselves and if it would be have good, than we could have been a return customer. We ordered spicy fried chicken and OMG the chicken was so burnt that it tasted bitter when we took our first bite. I thought the burnt color was from the spice but no it was the chicken that was burnt or extremely overcooked. We waited for about 25 mins after placing our order and were extremely disappointed with how the chicken turned out. The price is also not very affordable as you would get better chicken pieces from Krispy Krunchy Chicken. We felt like it was a waste of our time and money driving to this restaurant. The food is mediocre at best, and really not worth the push to find parking etc. The difficulty with ordering food to go, is that the person who has placed the order does not have the ability to check the order prior to leaving the restaurant, so we are all beholden to the honesty and efficiency of the establishment. Our orders were completely wrong, and there was no way that I was going to return to have the orders adjusted. Paying for something that wasn't what I wanted, not only is frustrating, it's bothersome when food allergies are involved. Regardless of the order being incorrect, I found the chicken sandwich to be fairly basic. I was completely underwhelmed by it. It lacked flavor, overall taste, and wasn't any better than poor fast food. The french fries also reminded me of a local fast food chain that offers curly fries. Definitely not what I expected or wanted from a sit down restaurant. Neither one appealed to me, and it would've been less expensive to have trekked over to the fast food joint. The staff was friendly enough, just did not get our order right, and at the end of the day it's not their fault that the food was what it was. When I go back? Probably not. Should you go? We ordered on Uber eats and were greatly disappointed by the taste and the value. The chicken was mediocre - on par with buffet fried chicken and the sides were literally inedible. The size of the sides (very small) were also not appropriate for the price they cost and the size of the chicken order. We got a 12 piece bucket and macaroni and cheese, Cole slaw and corn. The macaroni was bitter and watery - it tasted like powdered cheese and super processed. The Cole slaw tasted like it was made a week ago - wilted and tasted like rotten cabbage. The corn was bland. The waffles come with powdered sugar, butter and syrup, and although there is a spicy chicken option for the batter I get regular and then add the packets of hot sauce later. The other chicken choices with the waffle are the chicken breast or wings or strips. Someone ahead of me in line got a bucket of chicken and that looked really good too. The chicken (and fish) are battered/breaded well and cooked perfectly -- crunchy on the outside with the right amount of seasoning. The fish had two big pieces for the sandwich, great portion and very filling! Happy for this new addition to Natomas! Located near Shalimar, Beach Hut Deli, and Falafel Corner/Vampire Penguin for reference.
