For those hoping this might be the hidden gem in the Tenderloin, I hate to burst your bubble but... POP! I've had halal fried chicken before, but the best I had was at a street kiosk in Jordan. Yes, THAT Jordan, and it was flavorful and authentic. Previously this was The Original Perfect Hamburger, right? Another update: tried to eat here again, but found an eyelash hair in my food. I had ordered a crispy chicken salad and they messed up the order. Thousand island dressing is not ranch. I never received my other dish either. I tried. To have found hair in my food is unacceptable. read more

I was so hyped to try this and felt pretty let down if I'm being honest. All of the chicken is halal, which is great for those looking for a halal fried chicken spot. I ordered a 2 pcs (thigh and breast) with a side of French fries. I opted for the curly fries and have no idea why curly fries would be $1.50 more than regular fries. I was asked if I wanted it to be spicy and I said yes. The chicken had zero flavor and was not spicy at all. It was so bland that someone that can't tolerate spice would have been able to eat the spicy very easily. I would only try this place again to try their burgers or sandwiches, and I wouldn't try their fried chicken again. I was so disappointed that it just isn't worth it. It is the Tenderloin so parking can be a little tough and surrounding crowd isn't ideal, but there is seating inside if you'd like. I was really hoping to write a 5-star review, but it just wasn't close and really was a 2-star experience food wise. Halal Fried Chicken had some of the best fried chicken. It's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There are no heat lamps in the building, so they have to cook it there and then. Guaranteed freshness. The sides are pretty mid, though, so there is room for improvement. read more

This place recently opened on the corner of Geary and Jones street and I've been there 3 times in 3 weeks and have ordered 3 different things: The chicken Caesar salad, regular fried chicken (with sides) and a chicken sandwich. All were fantastic!! The staff are so incredibly nice and they work so hard to make it perfect, and perfect it is. The fried chicken is INSANELY GOOD. In fact, I hate that I like it so much because I shouldn't be eating fried chicken. They also have side orders and I keep meaning to try more of them, but the damn Cole slaw is so fantastic that each time I go, I can't NOT get the Cole slaw. Lastly, the "dips" they have for certain orders are also beyond -- the honey mustard is great and so is the ranch. You should try it but with a warning, cuz you'll start craving it. I got the pineapple chicken burger and it was pretty good! Texture of the chicken and bun were great, good amount of sauce and cheese, and it was complimented really well by the occasional bite of the crunchy dill pickle it was served with. liked the buttery flavor of the bun. I would have loved a touch more pineapple, but that's really the only thing I'd change about it. I don't really like panko style breading, but even with the panko, the mozzarella sticks were still quite good and perfectly fried. The coleslaw was nice... crisp veggies, perfect consistency, and a solid flavor (even for someone who prefers more of a tangy slaw, as opposed to a creamy one). I really try to support smaller restaurants, but I have to be honest when I experience bad service and the food is subpar. I've been to this restaurant a few times before, and the service has never been spectacular, but the food was good. I ordered last night, and I'm officially done. The gentleman behind the counter, was friendly upon my arrival, but that was really the only nice thing about this visit. I didn't order much, because it was getting late in the night, but I just wanted something to eat before bed after a long day at work. I ordered my food and another customer came in after me to order their food. The customer that came in after me got their food much quicker than I did, and I could see the staff Hanging out and talking while they were cooking and not really paying much attention to cooking the food. What really made me irritated, was the fact that no one even came up to me to give me a heads up to let me know that it's taking longer than expected, and they appreciated my patience. I literally only ordered one thing and it took almost 20 minutes for me to get my food. when I finally did get the chicken, it was small and subpar. The staff didn't even apologize for the long wait or acknowledge me. One of the guys just brought the bag over to me and said "here you go." I'm not sure how much longer this place is going to be open with terrible service and subpar food, so they need to get it together. It's not a busy restaurant, so they should really appreciate the customers more and provide better service if they want to have success. read more
