I came here for lunch after stopping by MOMA. Got the spicy chicken sandwich, non spicy chicken sandwich, loaded tots and curly fries. The chicken sandwich overall was fine, but the fried chicken itself was too stringy based on the meat they used. It was hard to easy take a bite of the chicken. The spicy chicken sandwich was spicy and had a kick compared to other chicken sandwiches I've had before. The sandwich also had pickles and coleslaw in it. For the loaded tots, they reminded me of a loaded baked potato but with tots. It came with cheese, sour cream, chives and bacon. For the curly fries, they were good, had nice seasoning on it. Overall, food came out pretty quickly, food is priced reasonably as well. I'd come back for the loaded tots and curly fries, if the chicken wasn't too stringy would be back for the sandwich as well.

The service was pretty quick. The sandwich was on the spicier side but I really enjoyed it. Everything was tasty and I'd definitely recommend! Can't wait to go back soon!
I ordered chicken biscuit and tots via Uber Eats at 1:19pm while at a conference nearby. When I arrived less than 10 minutes later, my order was ready. The food was the appropriate temperature and order was mostly correct. The biscuit itself was somewhat dry, unfortunately, as was missing butter sauce on it. The biscuit was falling apart from being more hard than it being soft. This was disappointing. The tater tots were average.

This is a tiny storefront with a few tables inside. If in the area again, I would return since the chicken sandwich is tasty and reasonably priced.

This is a fast casual restaurant located in downtown San Francisco. You order with a person or on a tablet. They'll call out your name when your order is ready and if ordered on the tablet you'll receive a text. I was there during a busy lunch hour. I got my food within five minutes. Even if it's crowded they are churning out food quickly. It would be nice if tables were wiped down more frequently and napkins were restocked. But they were busy. There is dining options for inside or outside. On to the food. The chicken sandwich is huge! There was a lot of food. I could not finish. Their food is consistent and tasty. My sandwich had too much mayo for my personal preference so I'd ask for lite next time. Many of the folks who were walking by kept saying how good the food was here! So it's definitely a popular cheap eat in SF. I think for me personally it's a not a spot I would frequent as it is heavy food. But when you're ready for a big meal at a nice price. This is a good spot to pop in.

I'm glad I went back, and for happy hour too which is a plus. This time I got the spicy chicken sandwich. It was packed with flavor, super moist, the one thing I didn't like was how stringy the piece of chicken was. It made eating it a bit tough as it ripped in long shreds. I didn't experience the cinnamon flavor that I didn't like the first time which was good. The curly fries were nicely seasoned but we did get mostly tiny end pieces which made it hard to eat. The mango habanero wings have a nice kick but do lean towards a sweeter and mango flavor. The item I would skip is the apple fritter bites. They were over fried with inconsistent saucing on top. A bit dry and had that old oil taste. The first bite was really not good, the other two were slightly softer and had more drizzle on top. The staff were very nice and food came out quick.

Came here on a Tuesday night while it was raining outside, so there were very few customers in the restaurant. Was able to place self order using the kiosk right away. Received the original spicy chicken sandwich for dine-in quickly! The slaw, buns, and pickle were nice! The flavor of the sauce and the crunch of the breading were both great, only complaint is the quality of the cut/piece of chicken itself - the meat was incredibly stringy - making for a really hard time in trying to get clean bites out of the sandwich. Bar tables were kept clean and stocked with napkins and wet naps. Love they give water cups to fill up at the fountain. Clean and tidy bathroom. Will always pay a visit when in the area - just wish prices were lower.
The Bird has the best fried chicken sandwich in the city. At $10.25 for the sandwich and $5.50 for loaded curly fries, it's still a great deal. The chicken is thick and moist. The bun is grilled and pillowy and the coleslaw pairs nicely with it adding crunch and tanginess. The curly fries were topped with sour cream, cheddar sauce, green onions and bacon. A caloric dense meal but oh so worth it. Service is quick too, I got my order in under 10 minutes. Ordering is through a tablet and staffs were friendly.

A nice little spot to go to after hitting up the MOMA. We took the kids to see some art and my husband had been talking about this place. My eldest is a big chicken sandwich fan so we just had to make it happen. Needless to say he was happy. We came during their happy hour and got the donuts holes too! 10/10. My daughter even finished her food and she's a picky eater! The ordering process is a touch screen. There's 2 screens in case you don't know what you want and there's a line. (I tend to feel pressure if there's 1 kiosk.) The employees are incredibly kind. My son had a bunch of questions and they were glad to answer them. read more

Was pleasantly surprised with this place! First of all, their prices are pretty affordable. We got the spicy chicken sandwich, tenders + curly friends, and loaded fries for about $35! NOT BAD Not only that but the food was so good. Well seasoned, crispy, and made fresh. they also have happy hour 3-6 pm everyday. recommend this spot for a good casual bite! read more

Fried chicken Sando here is always on point. The batter they use is really crispy and tasty. The chicken is hot, soft and tender. This is a very hot sandwich so I advise to wait a few minutes before taking a bite as I burned my tongue a couple of times. The sauce, coleslaw and pickles work so wonderfully well with the sandwich. This was yummy to the last bite! It can get pretty busy here during lunch time but if you come around 11:30 the wait is minimal. Took about 10 min for me to get my food. There is a touchscreen to order food but you can always walk up and order with the cashier. Sometimes I think it's faster that way instead. read more

You know from all the fan fare this place has seemed to accumulate I was expecting the best chicken sandwich in the city! But, I regret to inform the yelp community that it might be the worse chicken sandwich I've ever had! It almost had a cinnamon taste to it, the chicken was hard, and stringy. It also just tasted greasy! I also tried the biscuit tender mini sandwich, and that was worse! It was super tough, and inedible.....I literally took a couple of bites, and had these long pieces of membrane in the chicken that tasted like rubber... I also ordered the curly fries, and those were the best part of the meal. Maybe I just happened to come on an off day, but man I was bummed I spent 30 dollars for something that was inedible! Perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with soft and sweet buns. The coleslaw and crisp pickles were the perfect finishing touches. With two locations in the San Francisco area, the Bird (founded in 2016) is a part of the Back of the House restaurant group, owner of eight other concepts. It has a small menu, focusing on crispy chicken sandwiches in a fast food setting. I found the original chicken sandwich to be good, with the added potatoes being a requisite for the meal. This location was within walking distance from our hotel, so took a walk through the blustery weather. The seating is arranged communal bench style with 6-8 person seating at each table. So we decided to get the order to go. One can place the order through a self-service kiosk with a phone number: you will get a text when the order is ready for pick-up at the front counter. All the sandwiches use the same excellent burger bun (learned it is also used at their sister restaurant, Super Duper. The naked bird ($8) spicy choice was a cut up fried chicken piece, and was indeed quite spicy hot. The cutting up made the chicken a bit drier though. The OG Fried chicken sandwich ($10.25) WAS juicy and provided some good bites. I had asked for the coleslaw to be on the side, and a decent amount was given as a side. The coleslaw is a house made apple slaw, and it was quite good (though the apple tasted more like jicama). We also got a Buffalo Bird ($11), the OG dunked in Buffalo sauce. The OG is a lot better choice, for cheaper, too. Curly fries ($4) and tater tots ($3.50) added the necessary starch to the meal. The tater tots were the clear winner, with many of the curly fries pieces being overcooked and dry. Toast was the payment processor, giving us a clear digital receipt. There is a mandatory 4% employee benefits fee...I didn't see this sort of fee as much as I would expect dining in San Francisco. read more

Came here with a friend on a weekday for lunch. I got the original chicken sandwich with extra cole slaw & pickles, along with curly fries, tater tots, and corn ribs as sides. The chicken sandwich was perfection--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly not too greasy (very difficult for fried chicken). It didn't feel too heavy at all and I loved how the crunch and sourness/acidity of the other ingredients complemented the chicken super well. Nothing of note about the curly fries and tater tots, but the corn ribs were definitely a must get! So fun nibbling on sliced corn wedges, and the cheese/mayo combo was fantastic Definitely will be back when I'm craving a good ol' chicken sandwich!! Interior is nice with plenty of seating inside and outside! There's a TV inside the restaurant, so if you want to watch sports while enjoying your meal you totally could. Staff were attentive and helpful. I personally got their spicy fried chicken sandwich, and although I did find it a bit salty the chicken was juicy and paired nicely with the slaw and pickles. I came here for dinner on Tuesday while spending the week in SF. This restaurant was easily walkable from the hotel where I was staying at in SoMa. The menu is simple and largely displayed above the register. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich ($10.25) and also tried some of their Apple Fritters (3 for $2.25). The chicken sandwich is nicely seasoned. I would say it's a 6/10 on the spice level. Just the right amount of kick for those that don't have a huge spice tolerance. I'd prefer it spicier, but the sandwich was very tasty and I would order this again. The Apple Fritters are shaped slightly larger and denser than your typical donut hole. You'll like these if you like cake donuts. They were very tasty and a nice treat to cap off dinner. The maple glaze is not too sweet and I read that they use actual Fuji apples. Added plus as they were even streaming the Giants game when I visited. read more

We ordered at the kiosk for dine-in and got the 10x piece mango habanero wings ($10), mango habanero sandwich, and spicy fried chicken sandwich. The food came out fairly fast. I thought the fried chicken sandwich was pretty good. It was super juicy and flavorful, but was missing a crunch to it. I thought it wasn't as big as I would have liked. Solid lunch place with some heat. Great portion size and quick service. Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with fries ($15). If you use the DoorDash dine in option for a discount when you check in at the restaurant. The apple slaw on the sandwich was super unique, had tons of flavors. And the spicy chicken sandwich was definitely spicy, but a bearable spicy! Chicken was tender and had a great crunch. Moving to the fries, which are curly fries are super yummy. My friend and I were staying in the city for a concert we were going to at Oracle. We were staying at the W and their bar doesn't serve a full menu during the day. We sought out a place close and ended up here. It was just a few minute walk from the hotel. We walked in and were greeted immediately. It has an old cafeteria vibe and is very cleamr. You have an option to order via two different computers or when busy they have another person taking orders. We ordered the Chix Biscuit and Tots as well as Fried Chix Sandwich and curly fries. The biscuits are absolutely delicious and made in house. The chicken on both sandwiches was crispy and so juicy!!! The chicken came out steaming it was so fresh! The sandwich is served with their "dijonaise" which is very good and a pickle thinly sliced length-wise. The tots and fries were both crispy (you can get them loaded if you'd like) we were able to get a side of nacho cheese which was such a good pairing with both the tots and curly fries. Came here for a quick lunch and this is legit the some of the best bites I've had in my life. The fried chicken is very juicy and crispy. The cold slaw is super fresh with celery bits too. The packaging is fun and insta worthy. There is a little bit of wait so I'd recommend ordering ahead or going after 2 pm or so. It's a pretty small place inside but there's outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and we got our food fresh in a short amount of time. The coleslaw was my favorite part of the meal, it was unique and flavorful. The curly fries were seasoned and crispy. The chicken itself was on the bland side and a bit small (reminded me of a slightly better version of a Mcchicken patty from McDonald's). There's ample seating and the restaurant was pretty clean. Parking is rough as it's on a busy street but that's most of San Fran. read more

The breading on our chicken happens to be gluten free, so it you order the naked bird or the bird salad, you should be fine. That said, we cannot guarantee it's 100% gluten free because of cross contaminants in the kitchen.
What do you mean by regular/classic? I ordered a regular, but it was very spicy. When people are choosing between regular or spicy, are they really choosing between "spicy" and "extra spicy?"
Our classic has a slight kick to it and our spicy chicken gets a coating our spicy sauce. Most people would probably give the classic a 1-2 out of 10 on the spicy scale. You may have had a spicy instead of classic if it was very spicy.

It all depends on the time you come in. During lunch time, we have a long line from 11:30am-1:30pm and your average wait time will be in between 5-10mins only waiting in line, but you’ll have your sandwich in hands within minutes or even seconds…

Michael, we have happy hour daily from 4-7pm. Our happy hour consist of $2 wings but there not your average party chicken wings, we serve the whole wing, it’s a huge wing if you ask me. Also, our tall beer cans are $1 off during happy hour.
