Spot is i think same location it was few years back. The plates are still good as before that i can remember. Here is what I order and what I recommend. Always the gyro plate they already drizzle the white sauce all over the meat, make sure to drizzle a little more and pour little of that dragons fire sauce, they do have a new sauce that was red but it was sweet, minus this sauce go for the fire. Plate comes with saffron rice and salad with a helpful share of lamb meat. Meat still tender, bigger chunks then I remember but still good. Rice pairs well with everything, salad is just shredded lettuce no real seasoning on the salad Again it is a full meal on its own, togo old, they do take card now which is a good thing since the bofa behind it is closed. Always will be better then any lamb plate served at any other halal restaurant. I was fan of eating at halal carts in NYC way before bougie food trucks were a thing. I'm so happy they've made their way to San Francisco to help break the sandwich and salad monotony in the FiDi. I miss the extra meat option here, but the combo portion will still fill you up. There just won't be any leftovers for a second meal. Combo Over Rice: The chicken is so tender, like the pulled chicken analog of pulled pork. Also, nicely spiced. The lamb is like gyro bits seared on the griddle, yielding a nice crispy contrast to the chicken. The rice is surprisingly fluffy, it's almost like no grains stick together. Not a fan of the "salad" since I don't like iceberg lettuce; just wastes container space in my opinion. Love the creamy white sauce and the fact that you can squeeze on as much as you like. SUMMARY: Average halal food, quick, matter-of-fact service. FOOD Having had some really great halal food in NYC thanks to my wife being a local there, it's hard not to notice that the Halal Cart's food is not as flavorful as what you can get in most places in NYC. The biggest difference I've found w/ the Halal Cart is the lack of spices on their lamb. It seems that the HC folks like to favor their white and red sauces instead. Nothing wrong with that if you like that, but for me, I like to pick off a few pieces of meat to try if its good or not and lay off the sauce or use the sauce to accent it. I'm not so keen on drowning food in sauce like some people prefer. I've had their rice plate and their wrap w/ lamb both times. The rice is meh but their wrap (bread) was pretty fresh and doughy. Nice flavor and texture. I've not tried the chicken, but that'll be on my next visit. That said, in a pinch, this is not a bad place to get food. It's quick, about a dollar or two more affordable than places in the area, and close enough to the waterfront to enjoy your food with some ocean air. read more

I'm always a big fan of both Halal Guys and Halal Cart, but I do give more props to Halal Cart since they're more of the underdog even though they have more locations open here in SF. I decided to stop by this Halal Cart location for lunch one day since I had a craving for their Chicken and Gyro combo over rice. YES OH YES! For $10 you can get you 2 meals for the price of one. Fair warning that this place is CASH ONLY so be sure to get some before making the trip to this cart. At the cart they give you options between a chicken, beef, or combo plate. Similar to Halal guys they pair it with a salad, pita bread, and delicious white sauce. Honestly I couldn't tell that much of a difference between this place or Halal guys since both were so tasty and satisfying! They don't have packets of white sauce much like halal guys so since this place is only to go be sure to add some more of the sauce to your dish before you head out. I realized the amount they put on the plate was not enough since I like to drench mine so if you're like me don't forget to add more! Lines here can get crazy during lunch but it's relatively fast and you get your nice plate of hot food within minutes. It's near the Embarcadero so there are plenty of areas to eat outside to enjoy your meal or you can just head back to your office to enjoy as well. CASH ONLY. I had been meaning to try this place forever and my coworker finally got me over here. I've been hooked every since. For some reason I always forget to take a picture though, must be too hungry. Where else in the FiDi can you get a filling meal for $10? .... Yeah. So anyways, get the combo over rice. They've raised their prices by a dollar on each menu item. The rice plates are now $11 and the sandwich wraps are $9 as of April 2018. For the rice plates, they now put green olives and cucumbers over the salad - I'm not sure if they also add these to the wraps. While I still enjoy the flavor of the food, I've seen multiple downsizes in the portions given and now a price increase. :( read more

Halal cart is a pretty good food stop if you're looking for something quick around Embarcadero Bart station. When I've gone, they've usually been situated near One Market on the Market and Spear street intersection (They serve food off of a cart). Note that they are CASH ONLY To preface, I have been here several times (despite only 1 checkin :( ), and so far, I have tried their combination over rice and gyro over rice. Each of these two items come with a solid piece of pita bread, decent amount of meat, flavored rice, and some salad. The meat and rice are delicious, especially with the halal sauce that already comes on it. I typically add some more because it's so tasty. The pita bread is pretty good at helping to balance the saltiness from the meat and rice, but can sometimes be a little too much, so I usually use some of the leftover halal sauce. Probably the thing I dislike the most is the salad because it's just a plain salad that doesn't have any special flavors on it. And also could have sworn that their plates were bigger a couple years ago o.o One thing I do want to mention is to be aware of the deep red sauce that is provided; it is apparently habenaro puree. So unless you enjoy eating insanely spicy things or spending an hour of your afternoon breathing fire and finding that milk nor water helps your case, I would not put a lot on. TL;DR - Pretty decent food for $10 in SF, which is quite a steal. read more

I wanted a quick lunch and decided on grabbing something from the halal card so that I could enjoy the unusually nice weather. I generally eat everything and love spicy food, so I ordered the combo plate with spicy sauce. Boy what a mistake! As I was midway through eating my plate, I started getting a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach. This was quickly followed by sharp pain. This was stomach pain like I've never felt before. I was doubled over, feeling nauseous, and felt like I was going to die from a little alien that was going to rip out of me. This place is so yummy. The taste is a little reminiscent of Halal guys but I feel more authentic. One of the best wraps I've had in a while.
