To me these cottages are great…read more I'm in 1610. It looks like it's been renovated since most of the Yelp Reviews. It's a 2 bedroom 1 bath with a sitting area and a dining table. It's advertised as a full kitchen but be prepared you get a single pan, toaster, random cookware, and a grill. If you read the occupancy its mentions 6 or maybe 7 can stay here? I have no idea how that would be possible as I am here with my wife, daughter, and mother in law and daughter is sleeping on the couch. All this aside it's still decent for the price. I am giving 2 stars mainly for the housekeeping people. They come at random times and maybe not at all? I have taken my own trash out several days because ants are common in Hawaii. I was stationed here and gave my family the info on that. The main issue is we have had 4 towels for our stay and these housekeepers have not changed them for a days. We even left them on the floor in a bundle in an attempt to make it more obvious they need changing and they still disregarded providing fresh towels. They have also provided 2 rolls of toilet paper for a 14 day stay. I expect things to not be provided by virtue of spending a career with Marines so we preemptively bought toilet paper at 9 pm on the way back from day adventures and thankfully we did or we would be out of luck because housekeepers didn't check that. We also have not had our sheets changed once in over a week of staying here. We were able to book the 7 days for myself (active duty) and my wife got her 7 day stay (also active duty). When the housekeeper crew shows up while we are here and knock on the door, I politely answer with "hey good morning come on in" And the lady looks at me like I'm some Kind of jerk off. Gives me a sense that she expects me to hand her the trash rather than coming in and getting it (like she would do if I weren't in the unit anyway). I think these units being further from the base gives the cleaning crew a "out of sight, out of mind" feeling? Or possibly that the price point on the unit becomes a "well you get what you pay for" type service. I have no idea. I'm looking forward to speaking with the front desk when it opens in the AM. Maybe it will be resolved.

Marissa always goes out of her way to ensure our stay is wonderful. The beds in the cottages were so comfortable. The view from the lobby is spectacular. Double check signs! There are some large sinks throughout the campgrounds which allow for washing dishes, fruits, and vegetables. It's also a great place to freshen up for the day. The bathrooms were clean for a beach bathroom and there are some showers inside the bathroom space as well. The water is cold! The bathroom was pretty well stocked with toilet paper, though it can get low later at night. Bring extra toilet paper just in case. There was no hand soap. The beach was beautiful! It is covered in reef, so it's not a great swimming spot. Perhaps when the tide is high you may be able to go out--but be extremely careful of our precious coral reefs. Great space for lounging on the beach! As always, remember to pack out what you pack in (and grab some plastic from the beach too!).

It's roughing it but I survived a two night stay and so can you! The Plantation Hale comes with nothing. You basically have a place to sleep. No amenities. There is an outdoor shower (cold water only) and toilet (byoTP- toilet paper) both shared with others. Each Hale comes with a fire pit which is super cool! We like Hale 1, 2 , and 3 because it is ocean front. Bring everything you need as if you were tent camping (grill, sleeping bags, coolers, etc.). If roughing it is not your jam no worries. They have plantation suites which have indoor toilets! If you don't mind roughing it there are also tent only areas which is very affordable. The best thing about staying here is that the bay is awesome! My kids loved it so much we are going back again in a few weeks.

The bathrooms and hot shower houses were clean and it felt really good to have it available! The place is also secured. There were staff on site in case we had questions, Tara was very helpful in answering all my questions! We camped at oama left and we had oama right neighbors. It wasn't that bad of a distraction at all, there was a lot of space available for both of us. For this campsite you have to pay for a minimum of 12 campers, but it wasn't too bad considering it's a big space for tents and tables. 2 picnic tables were already provided so that was good! The hot showers were a great touch, after a long day. The beach was walking distance, we overnight fished and had a great time. Some of the rules: there are activities but they are available for ala cart purchase, there is a pool there but you have to rent a lifeguard, you can't have day visitors come by, you're given wristbands for the stay. There are also assigned parking stalls per camp site, we had 3 for ours. Will definitely be booking this place in the future! It's a really nice getaway...

There are bathrooms and hot showers and we always have a great time. The swimming in the area is not the best. Lots of reef in the shoreline but you can walk a little ways down and have better swimming spots. The only downside to the location is the parking lot is far so lugging your things gets exhausting. There is an entrance closer on the other side but we are not allowed to use it. Bathrooms are also extremely far and is a nightmare for your early morning or late night bathroom needs. Every time we've been there, parking was a mess. You're assigned a parking spot for your site but no one follows the rules. Also not enough parking. Our site allows 4 stalls but has a 10 person max. We are 5 couples, total 10 people which means 5 cars. All things aside, we love this location and will definitely be back but I would love to see improvements with a second bathroom on the other side as well as parking or drive in options for offloading and unloading.

Walk right out onto the beach to watch or catch waves coming in! Lots of great sand stretches and wasn't crowded at all during our stay. A/C mini splits in both bedrooms service the entire bungalow and easy to control. Ceiling fans in major area helped with air flow! Closing the blinds in the afternoon was a must for us to keep the place cool, however we were out playing anyways so it was easy to close them off in the mid to late morning. Location was exactly what we wanted, just in between the small town vibes and a short drive to Honolulu!!

The only issue we had was running out of hot water on the first night. The second night was better as we staggered our baths. The Heliconia was also nice but you tell that it was older. I gave the Ke Ike Bungalows a 4 star rating instead of a 5 only because there were no facial tissue provided, and the water was really slow to drain in the Heliconia's bathroom sink. That being said, I would definitely return. My plan is to stay at one of the bungalows fronting the beach on my next visit.

I'm not going to sugar coat this one. The Princess is a 16 story tall condo complex that is securely gated with a public beach access. There is security on the grounds 24/7. There are key fobs that access the main gate and the key fobs access the elevator, pool area and gates to the beach. We felt 10,000% safe here with our child during our 10 night stay in March during Spring Break. 50% are long term residents. 50% are vacation rentals. Lets talk about smoking - NO SMOKING on any of the lanais, pool area, BBQ area, ect. You'll get kicked off the property and they mean it. There is a designated smoking area behind the tennis courts. We never smelt any stank on the property. Which was great because cigarettes are gross! Lets talk about theft - We had zero issues with theft here in Waianae or on the island in general. Remain vigilant. Don't leave valuables in your vehicle. Don't leave your vehicle unlocked. We left absolutely nothing in our rental car. Not even a phone charger. Nothing! We even took down our dash info for the Princess when we went into public areas. We didn't want to be like, "look over here, this is a vacationer with a rental car" Be smart about it. Let's talk about the homeless - It's a thing here! There are indeed many. A huge population of displaced people. Some encampments along the 93 Farrington from Makaha south to Kapolei can be 100 - 200 sized encampments of tent city. It's a real thing here. The Princess had a few strays passing through since its a public beach. But not one person camping on the beach of the Princess. They have really cracked down on that and have no camping signs on the rocks. If the homeless make you uncomfortable, stay in Honolulu and Waikiki in a resort with the tourist craze. We are from the SF Bay area and homeless all over where we live and it's normal to us. But if your from Kansas or something, you might get a little freaked out. Lets talk about driving - There is one road in and one road out. It takes about 30 mins to get to Kapolei. And about 1hr to get to Honolulu. We loved staying far far far away from people. Honestly, when we return, we'd stay at the Princess. No questions asked. Let's talk about the neighborhood - It's a little rough. A lot of older run down homes. A lot of junk in front of people's homes. There is a huge feral cat population. There are wild roosters, chickens and peacocks running around. There are Island puppies. No one fixes their animals and are mostly in tact leading to a huge over population here. All of the homeless have dogs and puppies with them. The roosters start crowing at 5am. You'll hear them and you'll see them. Everyone has been very friendly though. Its definitely its own little community up here. If it all makes you feel uncomfortable, again, you might want to stay in Honolulu/Waikiki tourist chaos. Conclusion- We would 1,000% stay here again.
