Fresh food, quality pho and clean atmosphere! Only downside was the lengthy wait time. Customer service is good, as the staff are very upbeat and friendly. Only issue is they were not as attentive at times, and the wait time for food was surprisingly long. My boyfriend and I ordered the imperial rolls, which took close to 30 min to arrive at our table. Our bowls of pho took maybe 20 min afterwards. We are patient customers, but felt surprised by the lack of checking-in at our table and the lengthy waits. Customers who were seated after us got their food in 10-15 min time. Slightly disappointing but I never regret supporting local. The imperial rolls were nice and fresh. The produce was plentiful and the ingredients appeared high quality. I personally wish the spring roll wrappers were different, but understand the appeal of the fried rice paper. The pho was the star of my meal. The broth was delicious and well balanced. The meat selection was excellent and portioned generously. Noodles are nice and thin, which is my preference. Overall, would try this place again! Maybe my one off experience it was a fluke in terms of wait.

Tonight my nephew wanted to take me out for dinner . He suggested Hale Vietnam located next door to Duk Kee in Kaimuki 12th Ave . He was raving about their stuffed chicken wings for weeks so finally I said ok let's go . To my surprise it was really good very crispy and lots of stuffing with chicken and vermicelli noodles . I also had their Pho with rare meat and for $18.50 for a small portion it was very filling. Of course on the side they give you Beans sprouts, Jalapeño, Thai basil, cilantro and mint also lemon . Service was friendly and fast we got their around 5:30pm and when we was leaving there were customers waiting outside for a table . Support local

40 years... This restaurant has been in this location since the 80s! Our waitress has worked here for 22 years and was here again on another tremendously busy evening. It's always busy here... You write your name on the paper board near the door and get seated by one of the waitresses when a table opens up. The food is always very good here. I think they make the best spring rolls of anywhere on the island! A mark of a good bowl of pho is clear soup... pass on the murky type of soup you find in some Vietnamese restaurants. We also love the delicious chicken curry. They have a full bar and it's always packed with locals and Japanese tourists. We also like the make your own rolls, fried rice and imperial rolls. Paid parking in the adjacent lot behind the restaurant.

Came here on a Friday night without reservations, and we were immediately seated. I've heard good things about this restaurant and was excited to give it a try. I got the small brisket pho, and even the small size was a hefty portion. The brisket was soft, noodles were a good texture, and the broth was flavorful and not overly salty. It's your typical Asian restaurant where service isn't the friendliest, but it's quick! Overall good spot for a dinner with friends. There was lots of parking in the lot across the street, but this is not always the case on Friday nights.

First time trying their Beef, shrimp, calamari fondue!! Omg so good!! All the ingredients are so fresh. The broth got better and better towards the end! We definitely order this again! Fondue became our favorite!! Love their fast service!

This is the pho place I visit when I'm in the Kaimuki area. They have a good sized menu. They did raise their prices. We ordered summer rolls & a large combination pho that we shared as I wasn't that hungry, I just wanted the broth. Seating area is spacious. Lots of parking outside in the municipal parking lots or there is street parking.

Large steak pho - Clear, delicious broth, bouncy noodles, and balanced portion of steak

This is one of my pho go-to's, when I'm in the area and don't feel like going into Chinatown. The pho broth has always been a hit, and never needed to be doctored with the usual Hoisin and Sriracha... not for me anyway. The noodles were bouncy and there just enough steak slices to balance the meal, and I was able to finish my large bowl, full and satisfied. I decided to splurge and ordered these boneless chicken wings, that was stuffed with ground pork too and that was fried goodness. The tart fish sauce brought a brightness to each crunchy and savory bite. I only come here after I get paid, though... the prices are a bit steep considering what other places charge. But, the place is clean, has a restroom INSIDE the restaurant that doesn't look haunted, and the service is all right. Not rude but not friendly, which is fine by me.

Chicken Sour Soup with bac ha

Work lunch Wednesday was enjoyed at Hale Vietnam. A hole in the wall that is quite unappealing from the outside but spacious and bustling on the inside. Our party of 6 was seated immediately right before 12. I had been eyeing the menu since my recent calorie deficit diet required well...not my usual cold vermicelli noodle dish with imperial rolls and lemongrass chicken. I found a Vietnamese sour soup section that sounded delicious and low calorie but there was only one picture of the chicken sour soup from 13 years ago. I couldn't tell what was in it and the menu mentioned pretty normal stuff so I decided to go with the vegetarian sour soup. When I got my dish it was the chicken version which wasn't a bad thing I just didn't eat any of the chicken. During the meal I kept trying to figure out what this strange green vegetable was that I have never had. It was soft but not green squash soft, but also spongy. I finished as much as I could but ended up taking a full container home. The flavor was a perfect sour, it was definitely piping hot, and there was a soft licorice taste (possibly some herb). Very delicious! I asked the waitress what that vegetable was and she said "bac ha" or taro stem. It's also know as elephant ear stem. The dish was special and honestly nothing I have ever had. I am so glad I tried it and this is probably my new favorite hot and sour soup dish!

Pho is good. Quick service. Plenty of tables to dine in. I got the large bowl pho for take out and ate half for lunch. The flavor is there but a little lite.

My favorite is pho , pho noodles here are good. One of my favorite is combo pho beef tripe, spring roll , summer roll. Sometimes when they're busy , services can be a bit slow. But what restaurant isn't when it's busy. I guess they're short handed, very clean restaurant too.

Ordered pho to go over the phone. The person taking out order was helpful and efficient. Parking was a little hard to find on the street but we got lucky. The pho was great! Really good flavor and served with the mint, sprouts, lemon and sauces. My husband got the combo pho and my son got the chicken pho. Everyone loved theirs and was not disappointed with flavor. They gave a lot and prices were reasonable for what they served. We will definitely come back!

Tasty food with large portions! Solid option when you're craving authentic Vietnamese food. Large restaurant with plenty of seating to accommodate large parties. I rest calling and making a reservation if you have a large party. They also have a bar! Plenty of parking in the shared lot behind restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

My suspicion is that the online ordering service isn't actively monitored and our order wasn't started until I actually showed up to the restaurant to pick up our food at the designated time. The food was okay for us. I'm a big Banh Mi fan and was looking forward to eating their Combination Banh Mi, but unfortunately the Banh Mi seemed a little rushed in preparation and lacked flavor. My husband on the other hand, ordered their Combination Pho and it absolutely did not disappoint. Although their Banh Mi was not as delicious and flavorful as I expected, their Pho was the exact opposite of that. They give you a generous amount of broth and their portions of greens was beyond enough (maybe a little bit too much for one serving). The last food item to talk about are their Spring Rolls. It wasn't anything too special compared to your usual Spring Rolls, but I will say that their dipping sauce and everything else that comes with it (rice noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots) made it so that you could easily make it a meal vice an appetizer. If you're looking for a cozy place to have dinner, their space was a bit crowded but if you're okay with then this place is good. Just be warned that their prices are a little bit on the higher side in my opinion and be prepared for long wait times to receive your order.
