I was debating on giving more stars but I'll explain why I went with two. On January 28th, I ordered a cake for my boyfriends 21st birthday. They had over 24hrs notice and a very simple design. It was ready on time, the cake was adorable, and the girls who were working were extremely sweet, but it tasted HORRIBLE. It was a red velvet cake with creme cheese frosting and it tasted like bread. I just had a most delicious gluten-free Oreo cupcake! Gluten-free! It did not taste gluten-free! If there are any other folks out there who have to avoid gluten because of a medical condition, you'll know why I'm pretty shocked. Gluten-free baked goods do not necessarily taste good. This cupcake was soft and sweet with the perfect cupcake texture. The shop is in a gorgeous building that is clean and beautifully decorated. Their selection of cupcakes, whether regular or gluten-free, range from chocolate to lavender. They make your cupcakes to order and they look so cute when they are done. My wedding was this past weekend and we ordered the wedding cake together with the mini cupcakes for the dessert bar back in February. They forgot our cake tasting back in February, which was OK. I didn't mind. But on our wedding day, they forgot my mini cupcakes orders. I had to find out about this on my wedding day.... Can't say enough good things about this bakery. I have used them for every one of my kid's birthdays for years now and they have delivered the cuteness every. single. time. I usually email them a few weeks ahead of time with a vague theme and some pictures I've grabbed off the internet and the ladies just take it from there. The results are always Pinterest-worthy and the kids just adore them. Plus the adults are always amazed and ask me how I did it! (Yes, I tell the truth and admit it came from Half Baked.) It's pricey for sure, but it's worth it and I love supporting a female-owned local business. We've also started stopping in there around holidays and picking up cake pops or other yummy treats - they've always got some decorated for walk-ins to pick up. First off, this bakery is the cutest thing ever! The customer service is excellent!! I reached out one evening regarding a special order, they replied by the next day! They made everything so easy for me. I sent in a picture of what I wanted and they did not disappoint! I was able to Conveniently place my order via email and pay online! When it was time for me to pickup, I simply parked and called the store and the rep brought it out for me which is great during these crazy times! Upset and disappointed. I ordered 2 cakes and cupcakes. First I did my research and noticed they have decent reviews. I went in on Tuesday afternoon, no people were there empty and the lady that takes the cakes orders was on her brake so I waited 20min. At first I thought that's new?.. at a bakery shop, then I just assumed well maybe short on staff. So I'm having coffee and a cupcake to try out while I wait, the girl comes and we talk while I'm sitting she is standing this whole time (right there I should've seen it) bad customer service but I gave her the benefit of the doubt again and think she is probably in a hurry. So then I ask if I order 2 dozens of cupcakes will they be like the flavors on the counter, she said yes, then I asked if she can change the color of the cake for purple instead of pink and leave the second one pink from the photos I was showing her. I asked if she can make a flower designs cake for the pink one she said sure. Okay so far we been 10min talking and she seems to understand what I want. I repeated my order before I paid. Well turns out she didn't get it. The pink one was red the cupcakes do not have edible glitter like I asked and the flavors of the cupcakes God knows what they were because no one was able to identify the flavors, seemed vanilla and chocolate when supposedly it was going to be lavender with honey and other unique flavors :as the ones on the counter".$120 for each small cake which, I thought well that's about the price for a custom cake. I ordered four cupcakes: Golden Vanilla, Strawberries and Cream, Honey Lavender and Red Velvet. I also have tried their S'mores cupcake and lavender macaroon. Four cupcakes = $14. The service was great, the workers here are extremely nice and they frost to order which was pretty cool. My favorite cupcake is between the Strawberries and Cream and Honey Lavender. My son has extreme allergies to dairy egg and nuts. Obviously because of that we need to be very careful with what we feed him. During celebrations he always felt bad that he couldn't try the cakes or have any sweets like the other kids. We tried two other places and had bad experiences. Once we tried Half Baked we haven't had to try any other place. He can have almost anything from them and he is ok. Like most other people we didn't think about allergies until we had to deal with them. Because Half Baked is safe for our son i don't mind driving the 1 hour, or over sometimes to get there and pick something up. It's also great that not only do the cakes and cupcakes taste amazing, they look amazing as well. The people at Half baked are truly great at what they do and they are always so friendly. I'm in NorCal but was going to be hosting a bridal shower for my soon to be daughter in law in SoCal. I found out that this was the bakery where they were getting the wedding cake from so I called and asked if there were any flavors they loved (when they did their cake tasting) but didn't order and they told me it was Carrot Cake. I decided to go with this for the shower cake and not only was it amazingly, crazy delicious but the "naked cake"frosting and flower/succulent topper were absolutely perfect. We ordered a 6" chocolate cake with buttercream and fondant for my daughters 13th bday while we were visiting in LA, and I'm so glad I chose to go with Half Baked, they did everything I asked and made my daughters bday very special.
