we love to visit this beautiful restaurant. bringing our two dogs to the beach and letting them run freely until tired, followed by early evening dinner at Miramar beach restaurant is a perfect day out. My favorite dish is the Seafood Paella, or maybe their salmon special. We always seem to find the right choice for the occasion. they serve a cool Dad's IPA beer (not hazy thank you) and dogs are welcomed on the outside patio. We were going to eat at our either of two usual spots, but they were both packed and waits were at least 30 minutes. We had heard about the Miramar for years and decided to try it. Forget the other places, this restaurant is a real "hidden gem". Fabulous waterfront and good parking to start, but the key items are great food, service, and a quiet relaxing meal. The seabass special was tender and expertly prepared. The fish and chips weren't greasy and done just right. Prices are consistent with the "other" places but the entire dining experience was the main factor. Our server, Juan, was one of the best we have had in some time. Engaging , knowledgeable, and very professional. They have great Thursday night specials and we will definitely be back. read more

Joined friends in HMB for a bike ride and we decided to stop here for lunch. We sat outside, which can get chilly, but there were heaters and glass windows keeping us nice and cozy. Naomi provided excellent service. She was attentive, funny and helped us narrow down our options. As for the food, we all enjoyed what we ordered. My chowder was thick and tasty, perfect for HMB. The complementary bread and butter they provide went really well with my chowder. Since it was an exercise day I also enjoyed a chocolate fondant. It was rich and yummy. This is our favorite restaurant along the water in Half Moon Bay/Miramar! The casual ambiance makes it feel comfortable and inviting. They have a lovely patio with views of the Pacific Ocean! It's also dog friendly. They have umbrellas and heat lamps if needed. We were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. All the service staff was kind and took good care of us. To drink, we had lattes. They can make any coffee drink and they are served in fancy glasses. It's good coffee too! The also have complimentary lemon water. The food here is FANTASTIC! Make sure to try the baby artichoke cakes as an appetizer. They have great texture and flavor and are vegetarian! For entrees, we had the calamari steak with pasta and the crab melt with fries. The calamari steak had a crunchy, light coating that perfectly complimented the calamari steak, which was cooked well--not chewy at all. It comes with a generous portion of pasta as well. The crab melt is flavorful and well balanced with avocado, tomato, and a thin layer of cheese. The bread is exactly right--buttered sourdough. The French fries are fried to perfection and are a great side to the melt. One thing missing from their menu is lobster roll, which I thought was a staple at all Half Moon Bay restaurants. What we ordered: + Fish & Chips - this was our favorite of what we ordered. The fish was light and the batter was crispy. The fries were delicious too. + Mahi Mahi fish tacos - these were not bad, but a bit too saucy. There's salsa and some other sauce, and then the slaw had a lot of vinegar. So the whole thing kinda fell apart. However, the fish was good. + Clam chowder - pretty good... The service was okay until we were randomly given a "Birthday Ice Cream with Candle," which turned out to be a $3 charge we didn't ask for. This oceanfront spot on Miramar Beach is a semi-hidden gem that feels like stumbling onto a little slice of coastal magic. With waves crashing just steps away and a sunset view that looks like it was painted just for you on clear evenings, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. They don't take reservations, and happy hour pricing is only honored at the bar apparently, but sitting at the bar ended up being one of the best parts of the evening. The bartender was a genuinely kind gentleman who made the experience feel personal and unhurried. There's also a great selection of beers on tap, perfect for settling in and watching the sky turn gold and cheering with strangers while watching football. Our table was put together fast. The food was beautifully presented, with rich flavors and meats that were incredibly tender. Most of the appetizers aren't really designed for large groups. They are better suited for sharing on a date night or with a smaller party (5 or less) but everything we tried was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. We did run into a small challenge with allergy accommodations, but the staff worked through it and made sure everything was safe and enjoyable in the end. Creme brule could have just a bit longer crisping. So mouthwatering though! We have eaten at Miramar Beach Restaurant quite a few times, but this is my first review. We had a great group lunch for 59 people. Also nice that there is a parking lot for parking. I had the Linguine with Clams and Shrimps which the 4 star is my rating. The dish was very tasty and garlicky. Lots of clams and 3 shrimps with slice of garlic bread. Reviews from those I sat with were mixed for their dish. The Salmon Bake was dry. The Roasted Turkey was too salty to eat and my friend said she could only eat the side dishes on the turkey plate and left the turkey untouched. The Grilled Flat Iron Steak received pretty good reviews from people that ordered it. We also started with appetizers of Deep Fried Calamari and Garlic Cheese Bread; both were excellent. Our meal also included Caesar Salad served family style and dessert was Apple Pie Ala Mode. The service for our large party was excellent! We had a table near the window so it was a magnificent view of the ocean coast. read more

My salad came and wasn't what I had ordered. Took a while to resolve but she made it right and was very nice about it. Food is good. Not amazing, but good. This place, and the surrounding neighborhood, seem like a little oasis / eddy stuck in their own time and place. This is the kind of place that when I was a young lad I would have considered this super fancy! Dark wood paneling, a piano player, a classic menu, ahhhh. As an old geezer I appreciate the "classic" vibe :) The food here was solid classic as well, we split a Caesar salad, my partner got linguini with seafood, and I got crab ravioli, and we also splurged on a bottle of Prosecco, which would have impressed the younger me. I've eaten here many times and have always been impressed by the food and service. Unfortunately, after this visit, my opinion has changed. We were seated on the patio with our dogs while a busboy was cleaning the table next to us. The wind picked up a bit, and while we were in the middle of eating our entrées, we both felt something spray onto our hands. Since we were eating with our hands, it was obvious the cleaning spray had also gotten on our food. We told the busboy that he had just sprayed us, and his reaction was wild. He didn't even look at us--he just smiled and kept cleaning the table. I repeated myself and said, "Hey, you just sprayed us." His response? "Did I really? My bad." At that point, I completely lost my appetite. Our server apologized, but nothing else was done besides comping our meal. Overall, it was extremely disappointing customer service. If they're cleaning tables next to you while you're eating, be aware. They don't seem concerned about spraying cleaning products near or into your food. read more

Miramar Beach Restaurant has so much going for it -- incredible views, a great location, lots of parking, and a really charming setting. On paper, this place should be a standout. Unfortunately, the experience hasn't fully lived up to that potential. Service at the bar has been hit or miss depending on the bartender, and the cocktails often feel more thrown together than thoughtfully crafted. We also had a server who consistently pushed add-ons across the table without clearly explaining they came with extra charges, which came across as deceptive rather than helpful. The oysters have always been just okay -- which is frustrating given the location and what they should be capable of delivering. The views, however, are incredible. The setting is beautiful, and the live music adds a nice touch. Overall, this place is absolutely worth revisiting because the setting is beautiful and the potential is huge -- but consistency in service, cocktails, and food would take it to the next level. read more

What a great lunch we had at Miramar! We had a group of 59 dine at Miramar and it did not disappoint. We feasted on cheesy bread, fried calamari, turkey, salmon, flat iron steak and clams and shrimp linguini. My salmon was very tender and cooked just right. The cheesy bread was delicious and the fried calamari had a lot of tentacles which we love. The most popular dish was the clams and shrimp linguini. The flat iron steak came sliced whereas I prefer it whole. We polished it off with apple pie Ala mode. A perfect way to end the meal. read more

Was driving through the area around dinner time and saw the sign for beach front restaurant off hwy 1 and decided that would be a perfect stop. There's plenty of parking right by the beach in what seems like a private neighborhood area with beach entrance and path to walk along the beach. The restaurant is large with a wrap around bar and outside seating. I sat at the bar where I had a nice view of the ocean. There were old black and white pictures of the bay area all over including ones of the bridge being built and of the original Cliff House. I didn't realize until I was leaving and saw the sign that this is a historic restaurant. For food/ drinks I started with a cosmo, it was pretty good, I have no complaints, it was nothing special but they usually never are lol! I then got the fish tacos they were really good! I also got the Chichi, that was a specialty drink of theirs that was a blended drink with coconut, pineapple and I forgot what else but it was delicious! Highly recommend that. This whole place had an overall great vibe. The staff seemed friendly and like they all got along and enjoyed being there. Everyone pitched in to help each customer too, it wasn't like that's your server or that's your bartender no one can or will help you like in other places. It was a perfect Sunday--after biking along the coastal trail, we stopped for lunch and were seated right away. The ambiance was amazing--a live pianist played in the background, and we had a stunning ocean view. We kicked things off with two piña coladas, and they were so good! We last minute decided to spend my late dad's birthday here after a cemetery visit. They don't take reservations, parking can be a bit tight, and we got there shortly after they opened. Our party of 6 was seated quickly and our server was a sweet lady. Our food took a long time but luckily the nice ocean view made it go by quick! That plus they had a live pianist playing great music too! We ordered a variety of items: -steamed clams appetizer -cheesy garlic bread appetizer -crab cake Benedict -kids cheeseburger -kids grilled cheese -kids fish & chips -crab melt All the food was solid, but my favorite was their clams appetizer. Stopped in because it looked cute and it's right by the beach. The location definitely draws you in. Started with the crab cake. It was pretty underwhelming. The texture was off, kind of dry and crumbly, and it didn't have much crab flavor. More filler than anything else. The fish and chips were better. The batter was light and crispy, not greasy, and the fish inside was moist and cooked well. The tartar sauce was solid and went well with the dish. Service was mediocre. After visiting the pumpkin patch today, we decided to take in some lunch near by. This spot was super cute. Vintage on the inside definitely had a history to it and was cozy. Inside and outside seating. We sat outside. Ocean view. I could see my husband and I going back for a cute date night. We enjoyed calamari and he had a burger with bacon and mushrooms. I ordered the Dungeness crab stuffed raviolis, smothered in a lemon, zesty, white wine, creamy sauce. It was delicious. I did also order a Strawberry Mojito and it was good but very pulpy. read more

Bright spot of yet night, Claudio our server was GREAT! Nice guy, very helpful, only reason this place earned one star. On a holiday Saturday afternoon with no reservations, my friend and I were lucky to get a table by the window, looking out at a spectacular view of the beach. The restaurant itself is huge, with a giant bar in the center and with a pianist playing live music. My friend and I shared the Miramar Calamari, which was generous for its portion size. The appetizer was fresh and well-seasoned and not overly greasy. We were a bit weary of ordering the Calamari Steak, but the steak itself was a great standout, unique in texture and flavor, cooked just right. It was chewy and had a delicious fishy flavor. The Fish and Chips were crispy and tender, with flaky fish completing the somewhat crispy fries. It was not like an after-thought garnish. Fish and chips were fried CRISP. The fries are seasoned and thick. The fish has that delicious fried outer shell with succulent juicy white fish inside. YUM. We finally got to try this ocean beach front restaurant in Half Moon Bay. We always always pass by this place and wanted to try it. We always walk or bike around, and see this place always filled with people. They seem to love it there and it was a perfect beautiful day to see the ocean while dining. So glad we built our appetite by walking to here from Francis State Beach; that was two and a half miles walk each way. It's a pretty cozy place. You can tell it's been here awhile. They have their own parking lot but not a lot of spaces. Plenty of seating inside and out as well as a bar to just have a drink. They offer side bread and butter when you sit down. Had their strong pina colada which was good. We had their fish and chips, bowl of clam chowder and Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Expected price for fresh fish by the ocean. Was not disappointed with the meal. Friendly service. We will definitely come back to try the rest of their meal choices. So glad we got to try this place. This is a really cute restaurant on the beach with a great view. We visited on a Friday night which was nice as they had live music. Started with a really good Makers Mark old fashioned-the bartender was pro level at making this. The sourdough bread and butter went perfectly with the clam chowder. The lobster pescatore was filled with fresh mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari and a whole lobster tail all in a buttery, white wine sauce. Visited yesterday evening and found that service and food quality had gone down hill. Two of us, one ordered two appetizers, artichoke and crab cakes for her meal. I ordered artichoke soup and the shrimp pasta dish. The soup and two appetizers came and quality of the cakes was marginal, both looked great but the taste was not up to par and both were very soft centered, artichoke both outside and inside soft. My soup was adequate, nothing special. No pepper offered and none on the table. I waited and waited for my pasta dish and finally asked. The cook staff assumed we were sharing the cakes and didn't complete my order even though I was very clear when the order was taken that I was only having the soup and pasta dish. Angel hair and shrimp with onions and slices of garlic was also tasteless. Tomato sauce was light as advertised but tasteless. There was no offer of parmesan cheese, or pepper when food was delivered. No water refills until the plates were cleared, mine was empty for awhile. Seems like the old wait staff has been replaced! The mens bathroom soap was empty or non functional when we arrived. The women's bathroom had one functional soap container and one not. This means the male cook staff was unable to sanitize their hands after using the restroom. I was clear that the mens room soap was empty when we arrived and the lady understood the problem. At the end of the meal the soap container in the mens room was still not functioning. I again mentioned this again, this time to the person at the bar. He also seemed to understand.
